Easy and conveniet
Pros: I picked up at Redding Airport (extremely small terminal) so it was very easy to pick up and return the car.

Sneaky added charges at dropoff
Pros: Nice car, nice people at the agency.
Cons: Sneaky added charges of $10-15 not reflected in the initial quote from Kayak. I don't know if this is a Kayak problem or an Avis problem, bit I don't like being given a quote for total charges that then goes up when I drop off the car. Kayak/Avis need to get their sh!t together.

I was misled about the drop off point
Pros: The car was available for pickup.
Cons: The drop off point of Reno Intl. Airport that I requested was not relayed to AVIS and I ended up paying DOUBLE for my rental to drop off at the airport! Not Acceptable!!!

Maybe a better system...
Pros: The problem was taken care of and I didn't lose that much time.
Cons: After reserving a car, it wasn't ready when I went to pick it up. Apparently the system had rented more cars than the location had. I felt bad for the person behind the desk. Seems like something easy to fix.

Avis counter at Redding airport closed prior to ou
Pros: N/a
Cons: Had confirmed reservations at Redding , California airport. Plane arrives at 4:45. Avis counter closed at 4pm. "New operating hours" sign. Got stranded. When confronted Avis person on the way back several days later, the answer was " Its Redding" " Call corporate office" Very poor service indeed!!! Beware!!!!

Pros: The car was clean and lived up to my expectations. I was happy to see I could plug my phone into the car for navigation etc.
Cons: I reserved the car thinking I would pick it up at the airport. The rental at the airport had no record. When I showed them my receipt they looked on line and found that the car was at the downtown location. I have never been in this area before and didn't realize there were two places. I chose the first one that came up on the website. The woman Avis rep changed it for me but the price was more that originally. When we arrived at the airport we found our flight cancelled and no room for us on the later flight. Another storm was due in the next day so I didn't think things would improve. We were able to get a flight out of Sacramento so I asked the Avis rep about taking the car to Sacramento. Their computers were down so I was told to just go ahead and drive to Sacramento and turn in the car there and everything would be fine. When I turned the car in I had to pay an additional fee that I was not told about before hand.

Broken A/C
Pros: Very courteous staff. Rental car pick-up in same terminal as baggage claim.
Cons: Broken A/C at pick-up. Transmission froze 2 miles prior to return to airport.

Worst experience ever!
Pros: Terrible terrible service. I reserved a specific vehicle at a specific pickup location and made plans based on that location and timetable. I was contacted 2.5 hours prior to my confirmed pickup time (7:30 am) and left a brief message to call back. Around 8:15 am I contacted the rental office only to be told the car that I had reserved 24 hours earlier was not available and there was nothing they could do for me. I insisted that they figure it out for me and after some persistence on my part the person who had left the message and been my only contact said he would transfer the reservation to a not so near by airport location. I was not happy about it, I asked if he could have the vehicle transferred to his location since I picked that location based on travel time and picked lodging due to proximity to that location. The associate rather unhelpfully declared that was the best that could be done, regardless of any confirmation #. I arrive at the airport pickup location only to be turned away almost instantly. 1. You MUST have a ROUND trip ticket to present at airport pickup locations in order to pickup a rental ( Even if you fly one way, each way, which is cheaper! A one way ticket isn't enough) Why was I not made aware of this by the associate at the time of the transfer??? 2. You NOW ( as of Jan 1st I was told) must have a valid major credit card in order to rent at certain AIRPORT rental locations! Usually this wouldn't be a problem, but my replacement did not reach me before I left home. I had used a debit card before and knew a credit card was always preferred but was confident it was a non issue due to experience. How wrong I was!!! Sure at the non-airport originally chosen location a debit card would have been just fine. That part was clearly explained to me by the lady at the counter at the airport location, she empathized but said she could do nothing. I asked for the manager and the eyes of the gentleman one register down lifted in my direction, he reiterated shaking his head and stating there was nothing that could be done, while tossing me a piece of paper with non- airport pickup locations and a customer service number to contact. If only everything in life was that easy, just shrug and throw your hands up. It's not their problem was the consensus, it was mine. Company values, customer service quality , and "guarantees" don't mean what they once did. I would like an explanation, however I won't get my hopes up, it's already been made clear that no one cares.

Little airport easy drop off
Pros: Fast and easy. Proximity to terminal/less luggage dragging pain

Pros: The carl type was it did. We ended up enjoying the car.
Cons: We rented the car for a 24 hour. And we're caught in traffic coming into the Oakland airport delaying our arrival by 30 minutes we were charged an extra day rental for the extra 30 minutes. We contacted customer service and were told a credit would appear on our Original payment form but this has not taken place yet.

Super Car Value
Pros: Personable and fast. Our reserved car was not available so we got a free upgrade! After a 12 hour road trip, we were surprised by how comfortable we still were. No hidden fees. No BS. Just great service! Very affordable! Will rent from again!
Cons: If your credit card is a debit card linked to your checking, you have to provide additional information and documentation that we weren't made aware of beforehand. However, the quick and courteous staff got everything handled over our cell phone.
