Pros: Thought I was renting a Toyota Corrolla like vehicle and was pleasantly surprised to have a VW Passat instead. Can not beat the deal from Kayak.

Pros: Customer service was excellent, car was very clean and new, easy pick up and drop off
Cons: Actual car was very cramped and uncomfortable. Much smaller than the car I anticipated. Beside the fact it was new, I didn't care for it at all.

Pros: The car was almost brand new and the mileage was very good.
Cons: I had no instructions on how the newer automobiles work. I had to try and figure out what things were and how to use and find things. Also, I had no idea how to get from Greensboro airport to Asheville, NC. Our daughter-in-law hand wrote instructions from her phone so that we could find our way.

Make sure you have a credit card
Cons: When I went to pick the car up, they told me that I needed to provide them with a credit card in order to be able to rent the car. Other car rental companies don't require this and while this requirement was stated in the fine print (which many people don't read), I feel that Alamo owes it to their customers to clarify this requirement in large print when you are about to make the reservation. I offered to provide a credit card number, exp. date and security code, but was told that the actual credit card needed to be presented. I had to rent last minute with Avis, who do not require credit cards. it ended up costing about twice as much.

Alamo claimed Kayak provided the wrong reservation
Pros: For some reason, my Alamo reservation was handled by the Enterprise office. They fixed the incorrect charge quickly, bringing it down to my originally-stated reservation fee. They were efficient and professional (but as I said, they were not Alamo customer service agents).
Cons: When I dropped off my car, the charge was nearly twice too high. For some reason, my Alamo reservation was handled by the Enterprise office. They said my car was supposed to be returned in San Antonio, not Austin. Fortunately I had my original booking with me, which showed otherwise. They fixed the price for me, and they said the problem was Kayak had given them the incorrect reservation information.

Pros: Easy acquisition of car at airport pick up. Very good drop off procedures as well.
Cons: I tried to change my reservation online after I had picked up the car. It did not work well. So I had to call the airport location - which amended my reservation to my liking. Also the drop off fee for about 400 miles in the same state was enormous. This also was not broken out in the overall fee. In short, execution of the contract over the life of the contract was lacking.

I came in on a red eye and Alamo and national stil
Pros: I was one of their last customers, enterprise already shut down at 11pm. It's was 1230am and I wasn't sure if I'd be walking to the hotel. I was greeted by a VERY professional clerk who told me no problem she went and got my paper work and within 5 minutes I was on my way.

Quick, Easy, and Pleasant
Pros: No hassel, very efficient and courteous service rep, no pressure to upgrade.
Pros: Problem from Kayak, Hertz 800 number helpful, still cost me about 10 more than quoted but customer service agent on phone worked with me to find discounts that would keep almost same price as quoted.
Cons: When I plugged in to rent car from GSO, Kayak did not let me know that they had changed from airport to a location about 15 minutes away. Hertz clerk at GSO airport did nothing to help with this-said it was Kayak's and my problem.

Cons: The pick up was horrible as the printer was down and the electronic signature pad was not working either. After waiting for over 45 minutes just to sign for the car, the car was pulled to the front. The car reeked of smoke when I picked it up and was dirty and sticky inside. The door panels and cup holders had sticky residue that was not cleaned.

Hertz ripped me off
Pros: - The car was clean and included a snowbrush and icescraper
Cons: - I originally reserved a rental car from Hertz at a non-airport location but because my flight was cancelled and I was placed on a later flight, the non-airport Hertz location would be closed. So I had to make a new reservation at the airport Hertz location since it was the only location that would be open. They charged $50 per day for a compact car
- check in and check out took much too long and staff was unhelpful
- car was located in a lot much too far from the check out counter
