Pros: Location. Quirky

Cons: I wish that they also would served Turkey Sausage for Breakfast instead of bacon & pork sausage.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, grounds, and rooms were excellent.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: This was a great location for us, since the event we were there to attend provided shuttle service to the main location at the Marriott. Beds were comfortable. Very noisy guests (drunk and rowdy) long after midnight in the room above us. When we finally complained to the front desk, they took care of it right away.
Cons: Great assortment of foods available for breakfast, but eggs were hard and not hot, sausage and bacon were swimming in grease.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: They have a wine and cheese hour, and milk and cookies hour, plus a full breakfast bar! It is also walking distance to Old Salem. I also liked the big old rooms. Beds were comfortable. Staff were helpful and friendly.
Cons: There was a great selection at the breakfast bar, but the food wasn't warm (eggs and sausage in warmers but they were somehow cold) and the biscuits were hard and tasteless. Muffins were also dry and like a plain cake (no real flavor)

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very quaint and rustic Inn. Great location and very quiet. Staff was extremely nice and accommodating. Buffet breakfast was perfect.
Cons: Linens need to be of a better quality and the mattress was old. AC not that great and the outside area needs updating. Room kind of small for the money.
6.3 Good
Pros: The breakfast was awful. No explation as to what it was. Just awful
Cons: The cleanliness of the bathroom. The toilet seat had seen better days.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was amazing! Right in the middle of Old Salem. We walked across the street to have dinner in the historic tavern. The building itself was like stepping back into the past. The furniture was all new, but with a historical flair.
Cons: This didn't affect us, but this is a historical building, and it is not handicapped accessible. Booking.com needs to let people know that stairs are involved to get from street level to the front door, and from the first floor to the bedrooms. The proprietress has had guests come with special needs that the property can't meet. It's up to Booking.com to let people know that.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: The staff was very friendly, the bed felt great and the complementary cookie always tastes wonderful.

Kimpton Cardinal Hotel - Winston-Salem - Bedroom
6
8.9 Excellent (630 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Once the architectural muse for the Empire State Building, the historic R.J. Reynolds building is now home to The Kimpton Cardinal Hotel. We’ve enjoyed mixing Southern manners and modern flair, with a little mischief thrown in. Relax each afternoon over sweet tea and cheese straws, and evenings during our wine hour, in a lobby that feels like a lavish Carolina living room. Step outside to explore downtown Winston-Salem and her thriving art, music and foodie scene.
7.0 Good
Cons: The shower did not have a door water everywhere. Also lights to bright .
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The rec center with a slide, ping pong, basketball, and bowling always makes the kimpton a blast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were visiting the Moravian Settlement, so the location was extremely convenient: a straight shot down Main Street. The room was comfortable and my wife and I appreciated the security worked into using the elevator.
Cons: Automated bookkeeping and the like are confusing. I booked online and would spend $250. The front desk explained that a hold for incidentals would be placed on my card. What I was not told was that both nights would be billed. My card was hit for $450. When I went to the desk, I was given an explanation, which was different from the first explanation. Then my card started getting hit for other holds and charges and I had to, once again, go to the front desk for an explanation only to find out that I was "entered into the system wrong;" I was listed as a no-show despite having spent one night already. That explained why my key card expired after the first night. I had breakfast in the hotel restaurant but the charge didn't hit my card until four days later, followed by one of the valet charges. I don't know where the other valet charge is, or if my card has been hit with the second charge, and I don't really have any idea what I paid for this two-night stay. Was if the $250 plus two valet charges and one breakfast? Who knows??
5.8 Okay
Pros: We checked in and the room we put our luggage in was not cleaned - beds were stripped after we unloaded our luggage, we were told we would be given a suite for the inconvenience . I guess the suite was on a pet friendly floor and my daughter was allergic to dogs so we were given another room . We were given 2 $10 coupons to use during our stay . The staff was very polite however. I have to say the hotel had an odd smell in the lobby - it was not pleasant but I didn’t notice in our room . The beds were very comfortable !
5.0 Okay
Pros: The RJ Reynolds historic hotel building was interesting and Winston-Salem worthwhile. We really enjoyed the Atelier Bloem bath products and we want to purchase them now! The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable.
Cons: Room did not meet cleanliness standards, dust built up around the carpet edging, cloth bed frame stained, water pressure was unreal but the shower is not built to contain it. Huge safety concerns we found a lock blade pocket knife on the floor of our room.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean and the location was great.
Cons: The bathroom: The doorless shower is a problem. I am not sure why the hotel does not realize that this is a messy, wet potential disaster every time someone showers. It creates a slipping hazard, which I cannot believe their Insurance company has not eliminated. It makes absolutely zero sense. Add the barn door for the bathroom door, and you basically have zero bathroom privacy. It is a cute, Joanna and Chip Gaines (sp?) addition, but totally silly and completely worthless when traveling with a spouse, friend or family member.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great style, comfort, hospitality, and location.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great amenities, game room, wine happy hour, umbrellas, sheets, toiletries.
Cons: The shower curtain was moldy.
7.0 Good
Cons: They overcharged my husband by $250. It was only when I got my credit card statement that I realized it.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous historic bldg.
Cons: The bowling alley!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the decor and the accessibility to the location of my event
Cons: There was no business center and I needed access to a computer
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Bed comfy. Staff wonderful

5.5 Okay
Cons: I reserved our room for 3 night's, 4 months in advance. When we were checking-in it was $180 more for the 3 nights. I was told you reserve the room, not the price. That is ridiculous! And the walls are paper thin. The first night, there was a couple next door laughing and moaning
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mostly everything
Cons: No NON-pork sausage.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Cleanliness and how modern it was. They also accommodate me for an early check-in which went smoothly. Upon getting to the hotel the gentleman working the front desk name Brian knew my name.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room was nice and clean. The beds a little hard.
Cons: Room was next to stair well and we heard banging up til midnight and apparently there was a kid above us running around late in the night and early this morning.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The place was beautiful however. The bed was comfortable. The room was nice and roomy.
Cons: No where to park. Had to park a little ways from the hotel. Check out time is 11am and hotel staff was knocking on the door at 1015am. And knocked at least 2 times after first knock still before 11am. which I feel like we were being rushed to leave.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, great breakfast, nice clean room
Cons: Nothing
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly. The room was clean and spacious.
Cons: N/A
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great at this hotel. Complimentary bottled water everyday was great. My room rate included breakfast and you could choose a made to order breakfast instead of the breakfast bar. I don't know any hotels that do this. We got the second floor which is a lower floor as requested. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting comfort and value.
Cons: Nothing that I can think of.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was clean and very modern
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Room was super spacious and the layout was great for relaxing for the evening. Best of all was a 12 pm check out which allowed us to sleep in an extra hour before hitting the road again. Part of my group went down for breakfast and apparently the pancakes were " like Cracker Barrel good!"
Cons: Only issue we had was the parking layout was unusual with the surrounding area so finding parking was odd. And a small issue- the valet carts were a poor design. Shaped like an arrowhead so only the very back could hold a large bag and a wide slotted bottom allowing bag straps to fall thru and catch on the wheels. Fine for a single person but family not so much.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: I liked the layout of King size bedroom.
Cons: I did not like the shower. It had no barrier to water and leaked water all over the floor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The beautiful hotel, great decoration, awsome and kind staff.
Cons: That the accessible bath tube that we thought was in the king room was changed and remodel to a spa shower. That the cold water at the sick was messed up and my husband had to fix it. Other than that the room, bathroom, and everything was clean, beautiful, and a wonderful experience.
6.3 Good
Pros: Bed was nice and it was quiet.
Cons: They don't explain anything when you check in. The hot water did not get hot. Staff seemed more interested in chatting with each other than the guests. Would not stay here again.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everyone was very nice.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location and safety
Cons: The water in the shower wasn’t hot enough

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The waffles were great and the yogurt selection was good.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The property was in a good location, looked new, clean and the living room and bathroom was huge. I didn’t like the fact that they didn’t have a jacuzzi!
Cons: Terrible breakfast hours and not enough breakfast. You have to get up at 8:30am on vacation just to run downstairs to get the breakfast included in your room rate because it ends at 9:00am just to discover that there was no breakfast left and the staff refused to make anymore even though it was 8:50am!

Pros: all staff were fantastic, snacks, water availble, clean gym, easy to walk dog
Cons: need more channels on tv, specifically the tennis channel
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room was beautiful. The decor and layout was amazing. I love that the t.v. had internet apps that could be accessed. We used Hulu and Netflix. Also, my phone could connect using bluetooth so we could play music. That was a big plus!!!
Cons: Well... I run a little hot. It seemed like the A.C. was on in my room but for some reason between midnight and 5AM it was very warm. What, hotels don't come with rooms with bath tubs anymore?... a really nice jacuzzi tub would have been GREAT!!! My room was facing a noisy highway.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was great. The facilities looked nearly new or recently remodeled. Breakfast was good.
Cons: I got out a coffee mug and it was dirty. The room was clean, but had a faint smell of smoke and I asked for non-smoking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I truly enjoy the location of the hotel and the cleanliness and friendliness that the staff provided.
6.8 Good
Pros: It was pet friendly
Cons: Was said to have a full stove and oven, it did not. The free internet tv also didn’t work despite them supposedly fixing it multiple times.

Pros: The beds were comfortable and thank God the room was dark. Free breakfast was great and the woman working the breakfast area needs a raise! She was awesome. If she overheard someone needing something she would find that something g and get it to the customer.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Didnt have breakfast we got up at 930 n breakfast was over at 10am

7.5 Good
Pros: Clean and nice hotel. Other than the beds everything was wonderful.
Cons: Beds were so uncomfortable that no one really got any sleep and we came home in pain the next day. Not what I usually experience at a Hampton Inn. Usually the beds are the best part.

6.8 Good
Pros: The bed and bedding were clean and comfortable! Good water pressure in shower. Nice dark room for sleeping.
Cons: Dirty socks on the window sill when we arrived and torn upholstery on deskchair did not make a good first impression. The hairdryer needs a longer cord so it can be used in front of closet while someone else showers. Hairdryer was very weak. Could use more lighting in room.
7.5 Good
Cons: Sofa bed not comfortable. No rest for the person sleeping on it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I'm not sure about the breakfast, as I didnt partake either morning. However, the location and the eateries and shops surround the location were spot on! Super convenient and definitely something for everyone.

Pros: The breakfast was fantastic. The hotel was clean and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. The staff was very nice!
Cons: That I couldn't have stayed longer. LOL
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was one of the best I have seen at a hotel. The attendants of the breakfast room were friendly and helpful.
Cons: Checkin was at 3 PM, no rooms were available until that time. People were lined up out the door waiting to check in. None of the ice machines on the floors were working.
2.5 Mediocre
Cons: Place was not only under VERY heavy construction, but the two staff I dealt with, Anthony and Patricia, were undoubtedly the rudest people I've ever encountered at a property anywhere, in all my travels. I am honestly shocked this place is still in business, and judging from the lack of people there on a Friday night, they probably won't be for long. I'd suggest to stay far away from this place.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The morning breakfast was a great start to our day at this hotel. Beds were very comfortable. My family and I had 2 rooms which were located next each other. Coffee, a cookie and water was available 24 hours a day.
Cons: The only downside which wasnt a really big issue was the TV remote needed batteries I think, which would have been nice to have been discovered prior to our checkin. Suggestion that maybe the housekeeping staff could check that when cleaning.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful staff, fabulous breakfast, great location
Cons: No channel guide in room and though the building just fine it was older
8.0 Excellent
Cons: You should have replaced the bathroom fixtures when you remodeled.

5.8 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was great
Cons: The main reason we chose this hotel was the indoor pool and hot tub. Both of which were closed. We were not informed of this fact until we saw a sign as we were checking in. Had we known this we would have stayed at a different hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's new!!!

Pros: Wendy at the front desk was awesome and helped my son have his bedtime bowl of cereal by finding us some milk at 11:30pm!! The breakfast was awesome and the pool was super warm! The slides were fun and the mini game room was great! I hope to come back here every time I am this way!
Cons: There was one lady at the front desk that seemed to enjoy making you wait to be helped. She didn't really fit in with all the other friendly nice workers. Beds a little too firm for my taste.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was fresh and area was well maintained. The facility appeared to be an aged Hampton Inn but the facility was clean and well maintained.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We brought our kids for the slides and pool as a little get away close to home during spring break. They loved it. Highly recommend.
Cons: Everything was great!
6.8 Good
Pros: Convenience and breakfast
Cons: 4th floor room was stuffy and pool smell permeates hotel. Need better cleaning products to counter the chlorine smell Elevators had puddles from kids going in pools then to rooms. Staff not providing information upon check-in.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We love the pool and slides, there is a hot tub too which is a great plus! Breakfast had a nice selection. Very helpful evening staff Prompt room service when extra towels and pillows were requested Great pillows and comfy bed! Conveniently located next to the highway and Mexican restaurant.
Cons: The slides were not working in the morning which was a huge draw back given how much we paid to stay. We chose this hotel exclusively for the slides. However, they did fix the slides within an hour and a half so that helped. Please make sure Diet Coke is installed in the 4th floor vending machine. (There were no diet options) Please add more low carb options. The powdered eggs and sausage weren’t quite adequate for the price paid to include breakfast. we were on the fourth floor but our room still smelled of cigarettes; bathroom floor was a bit grimey but it did feel clean overall.

Cons: The pool is located across the street in a sister hotel. There is a skywalk to connect but it is a far walk.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were so friendly, the room was very clean, and the amenities were perfect.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The room wasn't ready when we arrived at 330pm and waited for another hour to have the room ready as well the room wasn't clean properly but had no choice but to stay no one said sorry nor got any acknowledgment about inconvenient that my wife and I had.
Cons: Nothing sorry to say didnt even have a microwave. The embassy suit across is much better and you guys were supposed to be MARRIOTT.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: Overall the room and the hotel were in great condition. My only disappointment was that there was no microwave and I honeslty though it was a suite. But that is no fault to the hotel. The front desk staff were helpful and accommodating. The beds were super comfy. The large tv was a plus. We loved the barn doors on the bathroom and the vanity lighting! The shower did not get hot enough so that was a disappointment. Otherwise the room and the hotel were very clean and no awkward smells. It would be ideal to have free breakfast like the embassy. We had a good stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant/bar atmosphere was great. Food was delicious, great variety and quality!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I really liked the flooring in the rooms. Nice not to have carpet. Also really liked how large the shower was.
Cons: Would have been nice if parking was a little cheaper.
9.0 Excellent
Cons: The cleaning crew awoke my fiance and myself on 3 separate occasions, including a 730 AM singing venture. Not only did the charade continue, it became quite difficult to fall back asleep as the cleaners exponentially grew louder and louder. Every other aspect related to our stay at the Marriott was wonderful, but this one particular instance has made it so we do not wish to return. What is the purpose of staying in a hotel if you are incapable of sleeping in past 730 am?

Cons: It was ALL good!

Pros: The hotel decor and knowledgeable staff
Cons: It doesn’t have a pool
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location.
Cons: after an hour and a half of listening to the meth head stump up and down the hall on the super squeaky wooden floors I finally went out at 3:30 in the morning and asked him to stop stomping. As you expect it became a near confrontation with my eight-year-old sleeping just feet away. Beyond that and the extremely squeaky floor throughout the residential portion of the third floor it would have been a great stay. Whoever installed the wood floors should be fired and then hung.!Lost four hours of sleep and turn into a miserable night.

Pros: The entire staff was very kind, the rooms made you feel that you got your money's worth.
Cons: Lack of self-service parking, but that is not necessarily Indigo's fault.

There are many restaurants within walking distance and a few shops we checked out in our leisure time.
Cons: The price was a bit higher than some other hotels in the area.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Pretty much everything is great. Friendly people, nice generous size rooms, above average breakfast, quiet.
Cons: Only two things, and they're both about the TV. It's a fine LG, but they for some reason decided to put a limiter on the volume. So if you play something from a DVD player, the sound is too low to hear. Worse, the TV turns itself off every 4 hours!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was extremely nice! Staff was friendly. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.

Pros: It gave our family plenty of space in the room.

Pros: The breakfast was good for a hotel breakfast and the room was pretty clean. Decent location.
Cons: I sat in the lobby for at least 15 mins waiting on someone to come to the desk to check in. When he did finally show up you could tell he had been out on a smoke break because he smelled like an ashtray. He was rude and then when we got to our room and went to use the pull out couch there was no bedding for it. When my husband called down to the front desk to inquire about some he was told it would be an hour befor we would be able to get some because they would have to wash them. He told my husband that he might be able to get us some in 30 minutes and he would call. 30 minutes later I went to the front desk and he had left and there was someone else on duty and she knew nothing about us needing bedding. We finally got our kids to bed at almost midnight!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Their complementary breakfast was good but we had to wait for a few items to be re-filled.
Cons: Quicker response to refill breakfast items.

6.8 Good
Pros: It was quiet
Cons: Stated it had hot breakfast. Only had a fold up table small muffins, granola bars from Walmart, and coffee. I guess technically the coffee was hot. Standard two days, the room was not cleaned or new towels delivered after the first day
6.3 Good
Pros: Design of the room are nice.
Cons: No breakfast, they said due to maintenance. No housekeeping due to vacation days. Mattress in the room was hard.

10.0 Excellent

Cons: Breakfast was quite limited to pastries, juice and coffee with no tables for sitting.
4.5 Okay
Cons: we checked in for the 4 and 5 and there was signs sitting on the desk saying that they let all the staff off for the holiday weekend and there would be no housekeeping til Monday . Another sign said that the restaurant would be closed til Monday. There is usually a buffet breakfast served but there would only be a continental breakfast, It was a box of mini muffins set out on a table and coffee. Like a box of muffins from Sams or someplace and that was it. We stayed here because we liked the restaurant and the breakfast since we have stayed here before. The next morning when I talked to the manager she was not pleasant and they only gave us 10% off. They only did this because I had called booking.com and they called the hotel.
