The Serta bed and pillows. Extremely comfortable! Location was great! The only thing I didn't like was the extreme smell of cigarettes, but I was in a smoking room. It's good thing that I had an air freshener. I would have liked to have a screen outside the window. Other than those small things, it was wonderful. Great pric
Cozy bed. Cold air. Adjustable shower. Nice room. Hallways nice. Good breakfast. Tub surround dated. Drapes didnot close and had way too much light in room until we got hair clip and closed it somewhat.
Location. Mold on bathtub walls. Bed made ONCE during 8 day stay - never changed. Had to ask for towels 1 day as room was not touched - not even the trash was emptied. Back door was open all the time. Dog in eating area. Moldy smell in hallway. Never stay again.
The location was good, and the lady at the counter in the morning was nice. We were moved three times. The first room had a broken a/c unit. After we moved everything into the second room, the attendant came to our room and moved us again with no explanation. The hotel was remodeling, but seemed to lack general cleanliness.
The location is fantastic. Nestled in the back and on a quiet street. It is also surrounded by restaurants.
It was close to where we were taking classes. no

Clean, spacious room, great breakfast, friendly staf nothing
Night desk clerks very friendly and helpful Cost was too high for this class of motel. Needing sprucing up.
Nothing really. I didn't like how the room was cleaned. I felt like the bed was still occupying the previous guests from the dirty feeling it gave. The air conditioner didn't work. The entire floor smelled like illegal substance. The towels had stains on them. Rude staff
It was not clean. It was not clean.
Location Room not cleaned. Had to make my own bed after telling them about the room twice. Worse hotel I have stayed at.
Clean room. Friendly staff. Conveniently located. No elevator and very slight breakfast.
Location and access to road - important during heavy snow and wintery weather. First room was absolutely nasty, so I switched.

The bathroom floor was wet. I wasn't sure if it came from someone mopping or what.
Clean staff was good Bathroom tub didn't drain water properly
I like the location to the Hanes Mall - plenty of shops, restaurants, and things to do... I did not like the fact that the sink area was in the room while the toliet and tube/shower were behind a door. The room was very tight. And, the door to the room allowed light from the hall way through the side and the bottom.
Clean, comfortable, good location and affordable. A plus with the breakfast & parking included.
Good breakfast, clean rooms Shower just dripped, not enough pressure
Booked a last minute hotel while road tripping. Great price, hotel looked to be recently renovated. Modern, clean lobby and rooms. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Staff was able to refund me my money when I chose to leave.
Heard people in the hallway. Families had kids and they were playing and crying. Also the elevator was very slow. Had to use the stairs. Had dingy carpets.
I liked the pool area and the comfortable beds. My boyfriend liked the breakfast buffet. I love that pets are welcome at no extra charge. The dressers were broken and there was no mini fridge. Last time we stayed there was a mini fridge so it was a bit of an inconvenience. My daughter didn't like the breakfast options. I feel there should be more kid friendly options like pop tarts or breakfast bars. Toilet was loud.
La Quinta Inn is close to the highway, close to shopping, close to restaurants. It is easy to spend a whole lot more nearby. Reasonably clean. I didn't stay at La Quinta for the ambiance. HIt appears that they've made some effort to stay contemporary but it also appears that they've been doing so a piece at a time. Some things are current, some are dated. For the cash tough, not bad.
They should spend more time cleaning to room and bathroom.
Great location, fun vibe & activities, grand rooms, and almost all the staff members were extremely friendly and courteous. I really was in shocked with how dirty this hotel is. When you walk in you expect nothing but an amazing experience. I first noticed the level of uncleanliness when we checked into our room. Walking into the room you were amazed by how grand and beautiful it was designed and put together. We walked over to the desk and night stands and there was layer of dust all over it. The baseboards were the same way. I thought maybe this room had not been used in a while. Then we went down to the lobby where there is a puzzle on the coffee table with the couches. It was full of crumbs and dirt. If the hotel had been slightly busy this would make sense but it wasn't nor did it appear to be fresh crumbs and grease marks. The next morning we had breakfast and the restaurant in the lobby. The hostess was very friendly, our waitress wasn't at first but she came around. There appears to be huge coffee spatters all over the wall on the left hand side of the restaurant. It's extremely noticeable and behind the booths that look directly at the kitchen again layers of dust. So sad to see an amazing hotel look this dirty. Just makes you wonder what else may be going on
physical charm of building, great location tepid shower water afternoon through evening, no electricity after midnight, limited staff supervision to solve problems, safety issue of outer door propped open, and overfull, outdated electric strip within room
The history, staff and breakfast was outstanding. We will be back to spend more time in the near future. Plan on sitting outside on the patio. Great relaxing atmosphere. A wedding here would be nothing less than spectacular.
The bathrooms were so clean and all of the snacks were amazing!
Very good value. Great breakfast. Decor excellent. Very very friendly and helpful staff. Loved the adaptation of the old building. When we raised the blinds to see the snow falling the windows were full of cobwebs and dead bugs. Horrible looking. Obviously had not been cleaned for a long time. We FINALLY got a receipt for our bill but were initially told that the hotel could not tell us what we payed
Everything in downtown and historic Winston-Salem was in walking distance. The front desk associates that worked the evening of our check-in were so friendly and had excellent dining suggestions. The room was amazing and had a great history. The decor was clean, fresh, and not cluttered. The amenities in the bathroom were really nice too. I cant wait to return. NA- everything was great
Met all of our needs at a reasonable price. Will stay there again.
Coffee all day and night No mini fridge and microwave
I did like the easy check in process, location is great and bed is comfy the nonchalant of the front desk staff. unwillingness to to help or answer questions...if i did get an answer it was a 1 liner. I need to extend my stay for 1 day and I was told the entire hotel was booked. A family member and his family stayed in the same hotel and said that the room next to him was empty the entire time until his check out 2 days later. I live in South Florida my family lives in WS. This was the second time I stayed at this hotel for over 4 consecutive days....but i am thinking this will be the last...and whatever you DO NOT BOOK A ROOM ON THE 3rd FLOOR it's smoking and extended stay...so go figure
My family and I stayed at this hotel thinking it was a nice clean place but we were wrong! We always check to beds before we lay in them, well this time we flipped the sheets back to find BEDBUGS! on both beds. we called the staff person on duty to our room so that he could see the bugs. We took pictures of them and have called corporate who have yet to get back in contact with us. Save yourself the worry and go to the Hampton Inn across the street or Hawthorne Inn located downtown.
Friendly, nice room, good food
Rooms are always pretty much clean and comfortable. Guy at desk was kinda rude. The hot water took forever to cut on in the shower.
impress with the employee that kept breakfast area clean and supplied. She was also cleaning the entry way and doors as I was leaving.
It was really good considering we didnt pay much for the night
There was not a mini fridge
Smelled like urine, booked 2 queen beds and they were only doubles The bad smell in room
The location was perfect for walking to Old Salem and downtown to activities. The welcome center around the corner was manned by 2 awesome ladies who went out of their way to get us info! Great restaurants within walking distance! Included breakfast was unbelievable! NA
Breakfast was very excited.
The Hawthorne Inn is conveniently located by Baptist Hospital and has a shuttle to and from for visitors. They have a complimentary breakfast, which is has the basics for a morning meal. The room was spacious, with a desk, microwave, and refrigerator. It was a great hotel for business purposes. The gym was lacking in equipment/weights, and the breakfast buffet was lacking.
Beds were super comfy, the view from the room was nice, staff was friendly. the breakfast wasn't great, but it was free, so no loss.
Had to be moved twice because the heat did not work in the first two rooms we were assigned to.
Bed was comfortable, room was clean, other than smoke smell. The smell of smoke was awful- all my clothes stunk. Worst "breakfast" I've ever seen- cereal and danishes, not even worth coming down for. Hotel was going through construction renovations, hopefully to remove the smoke smell bc it was overwhelming.
The lobby, hallway and elevator had visible debris and were never cleaned during our 3-day stay. There was an obscenity scratched into one of the elevator walls and the lobby staff was not visible at the desk -- the overall feeling was one of neglect and lack of service for guests.
Hall ways were very hot also the atmosphere in the room was damp. The bathrooms had no fan.
The room was a nice size and comfortable. We got to do our laundry and the food was just fine that we purchased in-house. The staff was great ! We'll stay there again when we return to Winston-Salem ! The pool wasn't open and the parking area seemed rather dark.
Bed The TV did not work.we were ask to switch rooms at 11.00 pm if we wanted a tv
Large rooms, comfortable beds, facilites with breakfast Hotel guests make noise in hallway
Super clean and the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in! Very pleased.
In all, I enjoyed my stay at ur stay . it was wonderful
Great location, although you have to twist and turn to get to it from the main road.
Very nice, great value for the money!
Cleanliness. Suite design of room is very nice with desk and sofa in work area. Also liked the small tables that the base slides under the sofa - gives you a place for a laptop or for eating. The included breakfast was good. Staff was friendly and professional.
Check-in to check-out was a very nice. We'll be back. Nothing. It was great
needs to be updated. Nothing worked. Not that clean and everything was in need of an upgrade. worst embassy suites i've ever stayed.
Very friendly staff, great breakfast inuded, can walk 1 block to a few restUrNts Furniture dated, despite great space the rooms are "tired", expensive for WS,
Nice room. Good breakfast.
Good food close to the hotel and easy to find, very friendly staff and the pool and the hot tub were very clean and great for the kids some woman at the front desk was being very rude and obnoxious and should have been embarrassed to be treating the staff the way she was…but they were calm and kept smiling and even offered her and her family something from the snack bar while she waited-
Bed was comfortable. The overall appearance of the hotel was that it had been a nice big name chain hotel at one time but it was now privately owned and minimal money had been put towards upkeeping it. The sink backed up after leaving the water on for a couple minutes and there was black residue left in the sink after it finally drained.
The location was great. The staff was nice. The rooms were dirty especially the bathroom. The rooms need to be updated.
Staff was friendly but not particularly helpful Room was not what I expected. A little small. No trash can and request for one (along with extra towels) went unheeded. Overall clean, but I could have gotten equivalent room elsewhere for 2/3 cost
Awesome price, comfortable beds. Great location! Some staff were unprofessional. Small tv, tight bathroom w/o a fan in it. Fridge also in a bad spot.
Breakfast, Pool, Large nice room. Didn't need to check out - room charged to credit card given at reservation, bill under door the morning we left. Had do not disturb on door 9-11 am, cleaning crew in hallway. Removed sign about 11, and left before 1 for most of the day. Room never cleaned, towels not replaced. Unusual - probably just forgot keep a list of rooms not serviced and to check back. Front desk concerned, apologized.
My girls loved the water slides. The hot breakfast was a nice added bonus. The rooms were a bit tight for our family of 4.
The hotel was lovely. The front desk lady was so pleasant. The room was clean and updated. The bed was comfy with big fluffy covers. There were plenty of outlets and there were even USB ports. I like that this hotel had laundry facilities, too. There was a breakfast room and a nice grab and go sack breakfast. I would stay here again. I can't think of anything that I didn't like.
The staff was so friendly and helpful with anything. The beds and bedding are really comfortable. The rooms let in little noise from outside. There was an odd stain on one of the duevets and the bathtub could have been cleaned a little better. A lot of the HD tv channels didn't work. The bathroom doesn't have a fan.
