Cons:Staff is always friendly and helpful, Maile was great during check in.
Cons:All of the rentals in Kona were being processed through Hertz.
Pros:Fine value and drop-off was quick and professional.
Cons:I, and not my wife at any time, had to drive for the entirety of our two weeks on the island. This was due to Dollar's policy of not allowing a second driver without an exorbitant extra fee. I will say, this made my wife's time on our honeymoon very enjoyable and calm, but after about a week I was pretty over driving, albeit only between relaxing and chilling on the beach (no vacations ruined here). Just beware that even if you are married, your partner will not be allowed to drive the vehicle while retaining your coverage for the vehicle. The rental agent mentioned that this was because of my using an intermediate booking agent, but they wouldn't share that detail's origin written in any policy and first asked if I used an intermediary service before telling me of the policy and why it is sometimes enforced.

Pros:Good pick up process, line was a little long but once I was dealing with the customer service person she was quick and the car was waiting outside. Smooth drop off, took less than 5 minutes and I was on the shuttle to the airport.
Pros:We had an issue with the booking and they were able to fix it quickly without questions.
Pros:The airport car rental staff were very helpful.
Cons:Your customer service department (whom I dealt with over the phone) was beyond frustrating to deal with regarding a misunderstanding regarding when the rental vehicle was due to be returned. A misunderstanding, I might add, that was caused by a Dollar Rental employee making an honest mistake when entering the return date. When I finally made a trip to the Dollar Rental at the Kona Airport, the lady there corrected the problem in about 5 minutes. I shouldn't have had to drive all the way to the airport to resolve this issue, but Dollar's customer service on the phone was totally useless.
Pros:They gave us a better car than we originally arranged for, and they were flexible with the drop off time
Pros:The car was so powerless it literally could not drive up the mountain road.
Cons:The car had been in an accident, there was damage to the front fender. And there were scratches. So we had to be careful to note these. But then the plastic bottom engine cover fell off while we were driving! Luckily it was at the Hilo airport so we could exchange it, which they handled well.
