Pros:We liked the car
Cons:We were forced to pay more at the location.
Pros:I am used to having to pay a high price for insurance when I rent a car, but I was not prepared that the insurance cost would be much higher than the daily rental cost of the car itself. The price on the kayak website shows $50 per day for the car. When I got, to Dollar I was charged $65 additional per day for the insurance.
Car was fine. I asked for third party liability only and only noticed later that they had added another insurance for $280 pesos a day for theft which I did not request.
Pros:P/U and Drop off to airport
Cons:They charged us 16% for 'airport fees' to p/u and dropp off. The airport is across the road from rental. Our original base quote for the same vehicle for same number of days was $350 USD. We ended up being charged just over $1,000 USD. Watch your 'extra's" Don't initial the quote on any fees you don't agree to. We ended up paying 16% airport 'tax' and 18% VAT. Insurance is a ripp off. $41 US per day. Will never rent from this place again

Cons:We started off with our total for 7 days being $69. We ended with it being almost $500. I expected to pay more for the basic insurance that they make you get in Mexico and I asked for the minimum. I was told the minimum was $39 but for $40 she would give me the full so for $1 more we went with that. My parents got their car the next day and got the insurance for $20/day so their car was over $100 cheaper than ours for the week. When I said something at the end the guy said well you signed it so that's what you have to pay. Unfortunately in another country when you don't speak the language you get scammed easily. We knew this could be an issue so that's why we went with dollar cause they have a good reputation but this was an awful experience.
Pros:actually, I/we can't comment. at the last moment before we were to make the trip, my wife's brother died and we had to go to his funeral instead.
Pros:Having a car down there was handy to get to some secluded beaches.
Cons:Advertise the price I'm going to pay. Felt a bait and switch... was quoted $165. By the time I was done with insurance and multiple "fees" and taxes, it was $850. Ridiculous.
Cons:everything. Overcharged. Car broke down. Couldn't get any help. No one spoke English. Charged for damage that never happened. No explaination No one to complain to. Terrible terrible experience
This was a Hertz/Dollar combo place so keep that in mind but that is how it goes at the PVR airport. I was coerced very strongly to buy additional insurance even though I already had adequate coverage for what is required. The rental price shown at the counter was higher than booking by $30 or so and attempts to demonstrate were summarily ignored.
Pros:Newer model van
Cons:Fee did not include “mandatory” liability insurance. Was not explained prior to booking. More than doubled the anticipated cost of rental vehicle
