The lobby where the Thrifty desk is located is crazy loud. I could barely hear the representative when I called the location directly. It completely put me off, but I stuck with it. I had no problem with the car or staff. The walk to the lot for picking up the car is a bit of a pain but I'm not sure how they could work around that since the office is right at the dock. Overall a good experience.

Rental car level was wrong when we picked up, then they lied about the coverage and he added more than asked for. We went to pick up the car and the lady outside then said we have an electric car, but we had a large SUV. Made me prove it in an email after the guy inside said we had a small SUV. It was a joke from start to finish.

Cons:

They didn't have the cargo van I rented. They called day of, saying they wanted to "save me the time" of coming to get it. I asked if they could locate one at another location and they told me I could call around. I did--no luck. I ended up having to rent an actual moving van and pay an extra month for being late. The representative didn't even apologize--just acted like it wasn't his problem. Appalling lack of customer service. :-(

The car smelled offensively of excessive air freshener as if the smell of cigarette smoke was being masked. The air freshener was so powerful that my cloths and belongings would smell like it hours after getting out of the car. My jacket still smells a day later!

Um the cleaner they used at the time did not detail the car so when we dropped something on tee floor moved mat found glass

Cons:

Rosie needed a little assistance with my prepaid transaction, the other lady there asked me if I was sure I had money on my card, I pulled up my online banking to show her that I had over 11 thousand dollars available on that card. That statement made me feel a little disrespected.

Not only was the car I requested not available but they had no car available. They left us stranded with no apologies. I will NEVER use AVIS again. No apologies, nothing.

I liked being able to book my rental online.

Cons:

When we arrived to pick up the vehicle, the van that I requested was not available. The van we requested would have had more space for our belongings to fit. The Pathfinder we received was very limited. We also had a price quoted online, and had I not had an issue with it, I would have been charged almost $200 more than I originally agreed to. Even though the pathfinder is a great vehicle, we needed exactly what we requested. Especially since we'd reserved the van at least two to three weeks in advance.

the return in CLT was fast

Cons:

First off, KAYAK sent me the WRONG address to pick up the car from so I had to call another Uber to take me to the correct address and was a huge waste of time. Then the pick up process took way too long. I put in my reservation days before with a pickup time and I expected my car to be already separated and ready to go requiring only my signature on some paperwork. They only started to LOOK for a car for me when I arrived. It took 45 MINUTES to pick up the car. It seems that only a small team works at the AVIS and they were all busy.

Checked the availability online before I made my plans and booking. They said they had a truck...didn’t get my car until almost 2 hours after my reservation and it wasnt even a truck. They should have given us a deal for our troubles but instead it was more of a oh well this is what you get attitude

The car was very comfortable

Cons:

The car was only superficially clean. Anything that wasn't easily accessible, like the cup holders and storage compartments was filthy. Also, the car wasn't in great mechanical shape; warning message that it needed an oil change showed up. Also, car appeared to have a questionable fuel injector; acceleration would stutter at times.

Car was fine and met our needs

Cons:

We had searched for pick-up from Greenville Spartanburg airport but the booking we received received required us to pick-up in town. When we picked up the car from the airport, it was $163 more expensive. The person at the desk was unwilling to do anything to assist and the city office was closed.

The night before they were going to take my credit (chime credit not bank) . My son was stuck in Florida with his four year old. They wouldn’t rent it me, my. Ex husband went with exact same kind of card. And they rented go figure!

It was honestly one of the easiest car rental experiences in my life of travel. Flying into Hot Springs I knew it was a small airport. But, it was really easy to get to and from terminal from rental counters. My only critique, and this critique applies to a lot of airports, there needs to be better signage indicators. I took a wrong turn on my way off the flight to the rental car counters. That’s not on Alamo. But, perhaps they have some influence with that.

I was able to choose the exact car I wanted and was even able to reserve a cooler and boogie board to use for the week. The car was in like-new condition. The free shuttle was convenient, fast and the drivers were nice. The location was a little bit further from the airport, but it wasn't a problem.

It was the first time we rented via Turo, so I don't have a good base reference to compare in general, and can only compare to car rental experiences with commercial fleets (like Budget or Enterprise). In general it was okay -- we made it to where we were going and back, with no major issues. It's doable. However, there were some "surprises" where things didn't quite got as we expected: * We made rental reservation with expectation that we're picking up at the airport. When we got there, it turned out that the car is not at the airport, and the address given to us turned out to be what seemed to be Portland's airport Fire Rescue Tower (where, obviously, we can't even walk to or be at). We called the owner, and turned out that the car is at some house that's "not far" from the airport, and gave us new address. So additional expense of taking Uber/Lyft to get to the car (and apparently that address exists in two neighboring towns, and somehow Uber/Lyft took us first to the wrong one, so we had to take another ride, but that's not a Turo issue, just more expense as a consequence of car not being at the airport as promised). * When we got there, we called the owner to get the keys: "-- Keys are under front door's floormat. -- Nope, they're not there. -- Then try mailbox? -- Yes, they're there." The owner wasn't there, which is okay to do this all remote, but would be nicer if owner was in general "on top of things" such as where the car is and where it is expected to be picked up, where exactly are its keys, etc. * Then owner requested that prior to return we take the car to be washed and cleaned inside and out. We neither planned on looking for car detailing places in Portland, nor for time that it would take away from sightseeing, nor for extra substantial expense it would be. We pushed back and the owner backed off saying that he'll let it go due to confusion with pickup location (and apparently he didn't send some email that he was supposed to send, or something along those lines). * And while the car wasn't too dirty, it wasn't clean to begin with (which made detailing request that more amusingly odd). Crumbs on floor and seats and luggage compartment. Worst part was that windshield was dirty on the inside that was minor unpleasant at daytime, but as driving progressed into night time, it was quite significant as it was blurring lights and affected visibility substantially. * We also added additional driver thru Turo and let the owner know. The owner requested that we send him picture of drivers license directly to him. We refused (as it didn't seem right, given that Turo is the one that manages that aspect) and he backed off. * Of course, additional expense of Uber/Lyft after return drop-off as we weren't dropping it off at the airport as originally planned. So all in all we probably spent additional $50-60 in Uber/Lyft for getting to and from cars location instead of it being in the airport, and lost about 3+ hours for dealing with additional unplanned travel. The rest was okay. Car drove fine and didn't give any problems.
