No hassle at all
Pros: My rental experience with Kayak has been phenomenal. The Hertz-staff at GSP-Airport in SC/USA guided me in a very polite way through the procedure. Everything from the day of pickup to the drop off went seamlessly.

Pros: The cost of the 7-8 passenger SUV was much more reasonable than we saw in other offers. When the check engine light came on and we needed a replacement, Lynn, in Greer (GSP airport), was very friendly, helpful and took extra steps to make things easier for us. Lynn's customer service style makes a great impression for Hertz.

Excellent service and vehicle
Pros: The rental office personnel could not have been more cordial and professional and the car was perfect for what I needed.

Pros: We booked our car several weeks before our trip. When we were shuttled to the rental car pick up we ended up at the airport location and not the downtown location where we booked the car. The person at Hertz did not bat an eye and processed our car and we were on the road in under five minutes. The car was bigger that what I was expecting and new. it was a great car and served us well during the week we spent in N. Carolina. When we returned the car we were done with the paperwork in under five minutes and on our way to the terminal to catch our flight. Hertz was a great experience.

GMC Yukon XL
Pros: Great Technology, superior handling, very spacious with room for 6 adults, luggage and beach items for a weeks vacation. Unlimited miles and used 3rd party insurance thru Allianze for very reasonable coverage rate versus using Hertz insurance which is more expensive.
Cons: At vehicle start had to clear "Front Camera Service Message" everytime, 1 tire lost enough air to create a warning message, was easily fixed by adding air with no further problems.

Drop Off Complications
Pros: The assistant who rented us the vehicle was very helpful. And even had to upgrade us to a bigger car because they didn't have what we requested.
Cons: When we came to return our car, the office was closed, though we arrived a bit before our return time. They should not offer returns at the time they did for the specific downtown location if no one would be there to help us (no key drop either). So we spent 30 minutes on the phone with customer service to get it all sorted out. Hopefully we won't come out paying the extra days fees until they reopen on Monday.

Pros: Very easy and quick for both pick up and drop off of the car Very clean and car ran well
Cons: Still waiting for my online receipt so don't know if any extra charges were added; if receipt confirms no "surprises" it will have been a very good experience

Cons: My reservation states that I would be charged the remaining balance of 48.33, but they charged me 73.77. Why was I charged 25.44 more than I was supposed to be? I did not have any additional drivers, insurance, optional items and I am 49 years old..so why was I charged more?

Hertz was good - Kayak screwed me with the price
Pros: Hertz did a good job with what they did
Cons: The price that Kayak listed wasn't the final price! That amount was charged to my credit card right away but I had to pay another 25%!!! of that when I returned the car. And not because I returned it late or dirty or damaged. Just because the price on Kayak wasn't the final one. There is only one reason why I book with Kayak and not Hertz and that is the cheaper price. Got screwed on that one....very disappointing

They don't have a clue
Cons: They wanted to charge me more than double the $237 confirmation for a manager special. Told me that I didn't have a rental. I showed them the confirmation email and they said there was no record,HMMM! After about 45 minutes of arguing I was on my way. The Mgr Special was a Focus that howled loudly at 40 - 70MPH. The howling was too loud to talk without yelling. The seats were stained and it didn't look like it had been cleaned(paper and pebbles in the front seat). Also the fuel system had acceleration issues(it bogged down then kicked in). I will NEVER get a manager's special again. All in all the guy at the counter was incompetent

Nice Car, but Bad Customer Service
Pros: We loved the car and got a free upgrade - the return was super smooth.
Cons: The customer service when we picked up the car was horrible. The person at the front counter was very rude and seemed like she hated her job. When we asked questions she huffed and rolled her eyes and had a short tone. My husband and I had never rented a car before and had a few questions, but felt intimated when asking because she was so short with us. The upgrade was nice but it was just because they were extremely low on cars. I do not know the person's name, but she was working at the GSP airport on 4/19/17 around 10:30 p.m.

Decent car rental, poor service.
Pros: The car itself was pretty clean, ran great, had everything it was supposed to.
Cons: The staff did not show up to the store till almost 30 minutes past opening time, and I had issues with checking out the car. Had to wait another 15 because the manager wasn't there till 45 minutes after opening, and then had to be asked out of the back to deal with me, even though he had been phoned with the issue and knew we were waiting on him. There were no apologies, nothing. They weren't necessarily rude, but there was no effort to make things better or to acknowledge that somehow with 2 employees and a manager on site, somehow none of the three could be bothered to be there on time. I was over an hour late leaving for my business trip because of this.

Pros: Kindness and effort to please.
Cons: Didn't have the small car I wanted available, few cars on lot to choose from, gave me two upgrades but I didn't want a big car.

Pros: Our plane was delayed and even though the rental counter was supposed to close at midnight the ticket agent waited for us.

Car was fine, service was not.
Pros: The car was clean and comfortable. Drop off was easy.
Cons: Pick up was in a dark garage so I didn't notice that the hood wasn't completely latched. I noticed this when I stopped 40 miles away. I am very thankful that it didn't come open on the interstate. Also, we booked the car at the wrong location in Greenville. I know that is our mistake. However, by changing locations the cost went from $60 to $144. I would expect to pay more at the airport, but not more than twice as much. The lady at the desk was more concerned with some "platinum member" she was working on than the customer in front of her (me). She got aggravated when I asked if there was anything she could do about the price difference. I should have just cancelled it at that point and went elsewhere.

Clean facilities and rental car.
Pros: I was *upgraded* to a Nissan Versa from a Chevy Sonic for free. The Sonic is a nicer vehicle. No Sonic's were in the lot. Same difference.
Cons: Had the rental for 26 hours. Charged for two full days.

Pros: The rental office at the airport is conveniently located.
Cons: I was not informed that: a. I needed to get my own transportation from the Airport to the 518 E North Street office b. that renting the car from the airport location meant additional expenses c. Poor soft-skills from the person at the counter.

Pros: The quick process of dropping off the vehicle.
Cons: The interior of the vehicle was in horrendous condition. Third row had stains and candy stuck to the seat. The cup holders all had some syrupy goo in them and there was and awful stench in the vehicle.

If you cancel you lose!
Cons: I had to cancel this reservation 2 days before travel as I was very sick. I was told that the money was NOT refundable. I should have never used this search engine and should have booked directly with Hertz. Never again!!
