The car started making a noise in the engine on the next to the last day of the rental. We called roadside assistance and they sent a mechanic to look at the car and possibly tow it. They arrived within two hours - and took the auto. When we had our concierge at our hotel call Hertz at the Dunkirk office to let them know what was going on - the informed her that if the mechanic determined that the noise was "our fault they would be charging us the $750 deposit that they demanded at rental". They also demanded $181 for fuel (in case we did not fill it up) We had filled up the car just before the noise started. We have not heard from Hertz about their final decision - but we fear that it will cost us close to $1000 to do this rental (on top of the rental cost) We need this resolved ASAP to insure that our funds are returned to us. The car had 6000 km on it when we rented it and we used it for about 500 km We did not abuse the car in any way and did not even go up steep hills or have any rain. The comments from the Dunkirk office were uncalled for and left us very worried that they would blame us for the mechanical problem. Please find out what is going on and handle the deposits that we left with them at the time of rental. Thank you. Horrible experience started from returning the vehicle. We waited a good 3 hours for the lunch break but it says in the note that they will be bacvk afcter 30 minutes what a waste of my time. This location is not good when it comes to time management besides that other people before us were outrageous because of their service been with other car rental and they are way better than this one. They did not even bother to explain anything when I pick up the car not like other rental car they just basically hand me the key and thats it. I will never rent a car from this company sorry you guyhs have to hire a better people if you want to stay in business.Reviewed Jun 7 2023

After waiting an hour in line inside then had to wait 2+ outside with little chance of a car. I agreed to take an EV but said only if charged enough (at least 65 miles). Got in car at 1:40 am after starting process at 10:30 pm to find car at 32 miles left in charge. Had to find charging station and charged for 38 minutes so got to destination after 4 am — it’s an hour & half away. Hertz should not take reservations without enough cars available and staff to manage them.Reviewed Jun 7 2023

Good location at Faro Airport. Efficiënt system to manage customers. Car handover went smoothly. Car seemed good and competent. However the Engine Light went on approx 90km away from collection on a Sunday. The response was slow and I had to follow up twice. Eventually they instructed me to drive the car back to Faro Airport and exchange it there. I was pressed for time but certainly this detour was necessary. Cost me nearly 3 hours and possibly more than 10Euro in toll fees. The return at Lisbon airport was equally efficient and speedy. I now await the final account to see if the credit me the extra fuel and toll fees that I incurred while returning the car to Faro airport.Reviewed Jun 7 2023

The rental agency refused to honor the reservation price. My wife was offered a pickup truck at 60% premium to our original booking for a compact car. Only under the threat of cancellation did the provider magically "discover" a compact SUV that suddenly become available for a smaller premium. We elected to cancel anyhow and were met with a hostile response. Avoid Hertz in Kelowna!Reviewed Jun 7 2023
