Pros:Once I had the car, it was the usual rental. Car was fine, worked, clean, etc.
Cons:BE CAREFUL. Was expecting an airport pickup. Actually an off-site rental. Bait and Switch. $20 cab ride to get car. Although return time was known at time of pickup, was told I had to return the car to the same location, EVEN THOUGH the office would be closed at the time. Wasted several hours on the phone trying to find out how to return the car. Ended up bringing it to the airport, with an extra charge tacked on. Between the cab and up charge for the return, paid and EXTRA $60 on a PREPAID rental. And to add insult to injury, the car had no gas when I picked it up. Waste hours in picking up and returning the car.
I thought I had reserved a vehicle at the Portland, ME airport, but it was actually at an off-site location and we had to arrange our own transportation to the other location in order to pick up the vehicle. The reservation through Kayak did not make this apparent, as the only indication was an address listed in small print. I guess I was expected to somehow know that the address shown wasn't at the airport (or accessible via an airport shuttle). The Hertz employee I spoke with at the airport location (young female, didn't get her name) was dismissive and quite rude. We had 6 people in our group so had to take 2 Ubers to get to the Warren location. The employees at the off-site location (Warren) were at least polite and friendly. The vehicle, a Honda minivan, did not appear to have been cleaned at all, having a good deal of sand and dirt on the floors and trash in the center console and door storage areas, and the jack and related items were just laying in the back cargo area instead of being properly stored with the spare tire. It was difficult to find where the spare was, then even more difficult to correctly store it all, so I sort of understand why it hadn't been propoerly put away, but it still should have been done. We did this before leaving the Warren location without offers of assistance, btw, as we needed all of the rear storage space in order to fit our luggage. The vehicle had a fairly hard-used and worn appearance overall, but ran well and got us around as needed. Overall, I feel like Kayak should be more clear on offsite rental locations, and that Hertz could provide cleaner, better maintained and less worn vehicles.

Cons:Price was more than what was listed when I booked. When I returned the car I asked for a receipt, they stated they would email it. Has been 5 days, still no receipt. $95 for 24 hours, overpriced
Pros:The Portland Location was professional and fast.
Cons:The car brokedown near Washington DC. Hertz DC location for exchange was the worse experience ive encountered. The customer service was terrible, beyond terrible. Rude. (for further info on this, please email me direct if this even matters). The exchange we were then given had expired tags. Finally got on the road. Cost and Time spent. The Van then brokdown in Knoxville. This terminal was much better and got us moving along. But again more, cost and time spent. Over all worse rental of my career thus far.
Pros:The staff was punctual, friendly, informed, and helpful. Everything was ready, the car was terrific, and both pickup and drop off were perfectly smooth!

Pros:Yes It was easy and everyone was polite and helpful.
Pros:I always prefer to use Hertz because they aren't aggressive with trying to upsell and the pickup process is quick and painless. Also, at the destination airport, one of their employees gave us curbside service to the airport after drop-off since we had a toddler and car seat with us.
Cons:There's nothing about my rental experience that was unpleasant.

Cons:I was charged above the quoted price that was on my confirmation. The rep told me that this was airport taxes. Apparently, the booking was made for an off-site location rather than the airport, even though I was flying into the airport. I would not get a rental from this site again because of that. They should honor the quoted price.
Cons:“Dealers choice was a Dodge Ram pickup truck, something no one would take going to New York City. I had to pay $60 for a reasonable sedan. It was a straight up scam
