we had a very enjoyable stay. received a upgrade to our room at check in which was very nice. a busy weekend with lots of hockey and families all having fun. and snow for a change!
Courteous staff, great location
Except for the steep climb up to the entrance, this is great hotel.
Superb in every respect
This was our fourth trip to this hotel and we are always very happy with our choice: clean, great location. attentive service the only draw back was the coffee in the restaurant, i would call it color-added water
The main bar is stunning and very inviting at night. Room was very clean and comfortable and couldn't be faulted. loads of parking and easy walking distance to main street shops/restaurants. Highly recommend this hotel. None
Staff were extremely helpful. Location was excellent
Great staff. Liked Great root.
We loved the great room and the view. We did not avail ourselves of the pool, or restaurants so cannot comment. The location in town is great but beware the hill! It is walking distance to town but you have to account for the hill. We stayed two nights and the room was not cleaned! I have never had that happen before! We stayed in a very basic room which was above some kind of steam vent. Walking up the hill can be tough at the end of the day but I kind of enjoyed the challenge. It was a little icy since we had a lot of rain instead of snow.
Liked everything except the hot tub. Hot "soaking" tub was disappointment - we were all most looking forward to enjoying a real jacuzzi tub - this was luke warm and no bubbles. The lights in tub and pool did not work either.
We really enjoyed our 2 night stay. Beautiful view of the lake, and Whiteface mountain. The room was spacious, and comfortable, as was the bathroom. Staff couldn't have been more friendly. We ordered room service (breakfast), and it was just o.k. Service was prompt and friendly but the food was just o.k. We went to BC (breakfast club) down the road the 2nd morning, and that was excellent.
Location, location, location. Great customer service, amazing fireside lounge, and restaurant attached.
Lake front. And mountains Tooooo many barking dogs left alone in room
The bed was very comfortable. We opted for the full breakfast for a nominal $10 PP and it was great. Our king size bed room was a little small, but we saw the two queen size bed rooms next door and they were very roomy.
spacious clean room late 4pm check in
We had a superior view King room which had a great view of the lake and was convenient to parking. Room was clean and renovated. Easy walk to Main Street. Balcony to relax on in morning and evening. Access to Lake and kayaks. It was perfect!
Location, pools, lobby is great....very Adirondack No tea in both the room and downstairs in the snack shop. That's just bizarre.....not everyone drinks coffee. Room we had was larger than most but terrible, no view, in corner of the hotel blocked by walk. The hotel wasn't full.....why give, anyone that room?
It's good nice bathroom and parti view. Carpets should be updated. Bed pretty comfortable. Room was clean
The Dancing Bear restaurant was very over priced for the quality of the food. The outdoor heater was not working and it was a very cool night. When the waitress was seating us, we should have been advised that the heaters were not working. We visit Lake Placid often and will not return to this restaurant.
Shower was nice. Everything was clean. Great view. Hot tub was not very hot
Enjoyed the room by the lake very much. Clean and comfortable. No amenities such as coffee in lobby that most hotels offer these days...cookies, etc. For the amount charged I feel that they could offer a courtesy cup/sweet.
View from room was great, dinner at the view restaurant was excellent. Christmas decorations were an added pleasure, the common rooms were beautiful. We will definitely be coming back. Had to pay for wi-fi
Very friendly staff, perfect location, walk to everything in lake placid. Beautiful lake and mountain views. Good food, fantastic amenities included.
In a beautiful setting. Staff aimed to please. Quiet, peaceful atmosphere. Upscale feeling designed to pamper guests. Huge complex. Felt like I walked a mile to the entrance from my room.
The location of the hotel and the view from our room was amazing. The lobby was beautiful and the staff were helpful and friendly.
accommodations were nice.
location. Great staff!!
really liked the convenience of the hotel. being on the frozen lake was perfect for playing hockey and ice skating. the beds were very comfortable and it was nice knowing the duvet covers were washed and clean unlike a lot of budget hotels. also like that hotel provided 24/7 hot beverage area and newspaper. the lobby fireplace was warm and plenty of seating. the outdoor fire pit was also great. THE BREAKFAST WAS INEDIBLE. We were in the Adirondacks and thought we'd have REAL syrup not sugar and corn syrup with food coloring and artificial flavors. pool and hot tub were great features BUT so much chlorine that I had the smell on me for 4 days that I was there and I only used them once. the parking lot had so much messy slow slush that we ended up trekking it to the room on the carpet. our socks were wet every day.
Great staff and location. Very clean, no issues.
Location No water kitchenett area
Convenience to local facilities. nothing
Outstanding service, great facilities, nice rooms, and all around fun place. Not a single complaint about the hotel or its facilities. Beyond their control: Canadians who want to use their cell phones are out of luck. Cell reception is unusable.
The hotel is absolutely amazing. Tons of stuff to do for families...pool, bowling, movies, etc. Staff was attentive and super helpful. Can't wait to go back! We did call the concierge to recommend a Mexican restaurant for us and the restaurant that she recommended was not good. We were pretty disappointed.
Very friendly staff, clean rooms, comfortable beds and down comforter with a balcony overlooking the lake.
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel was extremely clean and my room was updated. Location is fantastic and highly recommend this place. I do not have anything negative to say about their facilities..
Right from the start we were so pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of the staff, Johnny High Peaks and Eli. So helpful and welcoming! Thanks, guys! We thought our room was beautiful and very clean! One and only little complaint.,....there was no complimentary coffee ready in the morning. :(
In easy walking distance to downtown. Staff was responsive to issue with getting into room after i put my key card near a magnet and wiped it out. Beds are very comfortable and it had a nice view of Mirror Lake. Took 20 minutes to get checked in at 9PM at night when only clerk went into excruciating detail with someone who might do a canoe trip the next day. They needed to check us in quickly and then return to customer who was casually figuring out their next day's plans.
Friendly, helpful staff. Lobby décor and view is amazing...a great place to sit and relax in front of the fire. If you got takeout or snacks, you could easily grab a table (there are several) and eat while looking out at the lake and grabbing drinks from the bar. Ideal for a couple or a family with young kids looking for a low-key alternative to a stuffy hotel.
Lovely for a night. Seemed like a great location for a longer stay. Very low key.
Clean, spacious and a beautiful view.
The room was very clean and we had a great view of Mirror Lake. The location was excellent. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in Lake Placid!
The rooms were very clean. The beds slept well and the view was wonderful. Very friendly staff. Would definitely stay again. Wish they had an elevator. :(
Loved the view, the lake front, the staff, access to restaurants/shopping, proximity to great hiking. AJ, Adam and Vinny stood out for exceptional customer service. Some places were short staffed as summer help hadn't come in yet, but we weren't in any hurry so it didn't bother us.
Location, restaurants, comfortable beds, clean sheets, friendly staff. Room seemed a bit old and beat-up.
The staff was friendly. When we asked to cancel they asked why but did not give us a hard time. They did apologize for the inconvenience. When we went to check in the room was not ready (which was okay since we were an hour early). We asked if we could use the pool while we waited and they said yes. When we got to the pool area we found out all the pictures lied. The hot tub was gone and the room for the pool was cold. When we felt the pool water it was like ice. Not only was the water like ice it appeared to be cloudy and dirty. At this point my 3 yeare old was in tears because he expected to go swimming and we said he could not get in. We then went back to the office and asked to cancel our reservation. We went to another hotel in town and stayed there.
The hotel is very nice, clean, quiet in a great location within walking distance of the shops in Lake Placid. The decor is a little dated, as are the rooms.
swimming hot tub
The rooms were a good size. Everything is in walking distance in the village. rooms in desperate need of updating. Bathroom so small that you have to turn sideways to close door, a large person would have great difficulties. Sink is in the room itself so no privacy in brushing teeth or quick wash. The bar entrance is straight across from elevator so children have clear view of the bar and some patrons. Although I accompanied my girls, the bars location makes it impossible for teens to go to pool without being goggled at by patrons with drinks in their hands. Its just not family oriented.
The queen room was a bit on the small side. The microwave and coffemaker (and small fridge below) consumed much of the desk, making it otherwise unusable. The hotel only provides some pre-packaged pastries and coffee, rather than a real continental breakfast (which is more expected now from even inexpensive chain hotels, much less a "resort" hotel). Rooms and furnishings were dated and worn. The hotel lounge was uncomfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hot water temperature was abnormally hot - scalding actually. Surprised if this even meets building code. The hotel is very convenient to the downtown commercial strip. I've got a number of itchy bites - did not see evidence of bedbugs - could have been the tiny black flies atop Cascade Mountain (just not sure...)
The Summit Hotel was much nicer then I expected. The reviews were pretty bad, but it was a great location and the rooms were very big. There were a few things I didn't like, the jacuzzi didn't work and there was mold in the shower, but all and all we had a great time. I would go back again. Moldy shower, jacuzzi didn't work, scribbles on walls.
The location is wonderful as it's conviently located, the staff was very nice and helpful and the price was very affordable as I booked it off line and got a great rate. Everything seemed old, the phone in my room only half worked as people could hear me but we couldn't hear them. The refrigerators in both our room and that of another person in our party froze everything and the bathrooms are extremely small.
The location was nice. Easily accessible to everything in town. The staff was decent - not overly friendly, but helpful when we needed it. Free Wi-Fi. Everything in the hotel was very dated. If the elevator had stopped working while we were in it, I wouldn't have been surprised. You could tell the carpet and paint hadn't been updated in a long time, however they say online they are in the process of renovating. We asked for extra pillows one night and they brought us pillows, but no pillowcases. We had to ask to get those too. The shower would go from hot to cold to hot to cold several times for no apparent reason. The breakfast consisted of poptarts and honey buns. This could have definitely been improved, although I don't think they advertise having a breakfast at all, so this was still better than nothing.
Location, Rate and cordial attendants Room not clean and we han to ask for towels and toilet paper. Room not cleaned or serviced the 2nd day. Never had this problem before and we have stayed at the Summit at least two visits a year.
My wife was gathering her clothes and found someone else's dirty underwear and shirt under the bed. She was also bitten numerous times by something during the night.
Rooms were dirty, beds/pillows were awful
Room was big, staff was pleasant and accommodating. Food was expensive, pool was very small, one out of two hot tubs was out of order for the three days we stayed.
We were looking for something convenient and a little bit of luxury. We got both. Great service, nice, clean and large rooms, a welcoming lobby.Did not eat atthe hotel so cannot comment on food but I'm sure the quality was there.
Geat looking building and comfortable lounge. Just outside the village with easy drive into town. Shuttle service provided for those times when you prefer leaving the car at the hotel. When we checked into the room for the first time the airconditining was not on so the room did not smell fresh and clean, it had a smelly laundry odour. Also, would have liked an outdoor pool.
Friendly staff. Nice room, very clean. Nice view from room. would not go back; it was too expensive. Breakfast not good.
The stay was friendly, the hotel rooms were very clean and large. The hotel itself has a nice modern feel.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable. The pool was great. The hotel is nicely decorated. It was impossible to adjust the temperature in the room. The firepit wasn't working. The cafe's food is too expensive.
Rates were reasonable, staff was great! (Eric took care of us both on the phone and when we checked in and was wonderful)!!!! Would have liked the bar to have been open during the day.
The confort of the bed and the cleanest of all the hotel. Bread in the breakfeast
location, cleanliness, breakfast was good, price
I thought it was sorry they didn' t include breakfast in the prize. Some parts of the hotel were far too cold because of the air conditioning
Nice place, well worth the money. Can use updating but than again it has the rustic look that Lake Placid is known for Lack of Parking
Staff is very friendly. Insufficient parking for the number of rooms being rented. More than likely you'll need to park in the public lot... But it's close by.
Was chosen because of cheap price but I would never stay again. It wasnt even worth it for cheaper price. Staff was unprofessional and rude. When arriving late at 2am they were in the back counting money chatting and came out for a minute and went back talking and laughing while myself and 3 others waited for service. She had no information about parking. said she was only around at night and didnt know anything about day time. Wouldnt let us know about late check out. said we had to call desk after 7am to find out. Parking lot was dangerous and over full so we had to go down the road to park and pay in the morning. Hotel was not clean and very old broken down looking.
Comfy bed, location. Everything else.
the lake view room was no joke. great view of mirror lake, extremely comfortable suite. As other reviewers mentioned, it's a little noisy. Walls are thin, and being right on Main Street - there is some noise from the bars and traffic on the street. They provide earplugs - hilarious - but unless you're a very light sleeper, the noise is minimal.
Big room. Comfortable bed. Worst view you could ask for of boarded up windows of a half vacant building
The beds were as had as rocks and I had no heat the whole first night. It was miserable!!!
- great location, right on Main St. - nice view (we could see the lake from the room we had) - comfortable beds - not very clean... Overall the room was just not very clean. A couple stains on the sheets. The rug had areas that looked like stuff was stuck to it. Piles of crumbs in multiple areas. There was hair in the sink and shower and they left a used towel hanging behind the bathroom door when we were first checked in I guess left there by the previous guest. Gross!! -poor service... The front desk staff were fine. However, we left our room for the day at about 900 am and hung the door hanger to please make up our room. We came back at 230pm to a room that hadn't been touched. No new coffees or towels. Didn't empty the garbage, etc. When we left the maids were just down the hall. - the packets left for the coffee with the sugar, creamer, etc had already been opened by the previous guest and not replaced. - not that we has an issue, but i can ser how being on a lower floor could get loud with the restaurant/bar underneath the hotel
Wonderful staff, clean hotel, stunning views, and situated in the middle of everything. We were able to leave the car and walk to a host of stores, restaurants, movie theater, views, history, etc.
The foam beds were much needed after a long 5 hrs of hike. The sheets were clean and the room quaint for a group of 7 in a two full bed room.
We really liked the value and location of the hotel. The mattresses are very comfortable! Our room (lake view king suite) didn't have a refrigerator - which prevented us from bringing home any leftovers from the delicious dining that Lake Placid has to offer.
Owners efforts to create "lodge" environment - friendly and helpful during our stay! Noisy - floor above room we were in
Family owned quaint inn. Clean and neat that's close to Main Street . No mini fridge or microwave, so if you have special dietary needs you may want to consider.
Staff could not have been more accommodating. Jill and Frank are keeping alive a piece of history and Classic elegance Reminds you of staying at Grandma's House
The Pines Inn is a cozy place to stay! It's right around the bend on the top of the hill on Main Street, so you're never too far away from the restaurants/bars/gift shops. The staff is friendly and we had no trouble getting to our room. Overall, a good place to stay! As triathletes, we would have loved a mini fridge in our room. But other than that, no complaints!
Nice old hotel. Rooms are small but cozy. Some facilities need updating. Staff was very friendly and helpful. On premise restaurant was great. Overall a nice place to stay, a good value for Lake Placid, which can tend to be pricey especially in season.
Nothing more or less. Short walk from main drag. Quiet. Owners were very friendly. Gorgeous quilt on king-size bed appeared hand-made. Overall - a very relaxed comfortable nice stay. Price went up a few bucks at last minute because it was Memorial Day weekend, though motel was never close to full. We're used to most motels supplying continental breakfast - coffee only, at this one.
I've been traveling to Lake Placid for years and have stayed at many of the inns and hotels. I'm so disappointed that I didn't find this place sooner. I will no longer be staying at any other place! Super clean, best bed and bedding I've ever slept in and the owners are fantastic! They do have in room coffee makers and offered me glass wine glasses or water glasses instead of the plastic cups. The view out of the rear rooms of the lake and distant mountains is spectacular. Not a thing!
The owners are friendly and care about their guests. The room we stayed in was extremely clean and comfortable.
