10.0 Excellent
Pros: We booked in the Ashton Lancaster Hotel for a family wedding. We requested an early check-in to our room. When arriving we was greeted at the door by James. He made us feel welcome and showed us to our room, which was beautiful & spacious. The view from our room was amazing. James ensured we where looked after arranging for fresh water, milk & condiments to be in our room. After a long day we returned to the Hotel, outside is well lit and quiet. We returned to our room to have a complimentary night cap. The bed was comfy and spacious, we slept really well. I was thoroughly surprised by the range of beautiful skin care products provided. The breakfast bar looked fantastic, definitely a variety of different options, along with fresh tea/coffee. We ordered Eggs Benedict for Breakfast- Which was delicious!! Every aspect of our stay was amazing from the service with a smile, to the finishing touches. We would definitely love to stay again & recommend to others. Thankyou James

Cons: There nothing not to like.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location and a beautiful room. Hot food at breakfast very good, but the cold buffet was rather limited. Staff very helpful. I have mentioned a few minor negative things, but on the whole I really liked this hotel and would come here again.
Cons: A little noisy - close to a busy road - but not a big problem. Beware: if you plan to use the 24 - hour car park, you will need to have 11 pounds in coins on arrival and for each day of your stay.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Comfy beds, friendly staff and lovely food. Great location for shops, museum etc the mineral water and homemade shortbread was a lovely touch.
Cons: The window blind was broken and it was too hot to close the curtains and there was no extractor fan in the bathroom (or window). There were a few other issues, but the staff are excellent and did everything to make amends.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was lovely.
Cons: It's was warmest night of the year. Not hotels fault
7.0 Good
Pros: Always clean Great location Rooms are always nice and modern
Cons: Unfortunately a lot had been changed since my last few visits. 1). Breakfast now wasn’t included 2). Didn’t have soya milk or lattes - always did before 3). Welcome drink is now a cheap sweet cava - used to be anything you wanted. 4.). The room was unbearably hot - even with fan and window open. Was horrible trying to get ready in there. Quite a lot of competition in Lancaster for hotels and for £115 expected more as normally excellent! All the extras that they have now got rid of was why I used to use the hotel time after time. Now it’s changed I will think twice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location in the town centre. Friendly and helpful staff. We had a de luxe bedroom and it was very nice and comfortable. Great walk in shower. Very nice bar and lounge area in which to have a drink.
Cons: We had a room at the front and it was hot so we had to have the window open. There was some traffic and Friday night noise.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was individually cooked and very good. Breakfast room was excellent.
Cons: Quite noisy on the Friday night at the Borough has a music evening. I found the 'cards only' policy for drinks at the bar very strange as I use cash for transactions as far as possible.

Pros: Very comfortable bed, good tea selection on the service in the room. Amazing bathroom - loved the big shower head, towel was big and fluffy. Very friendly staff, delicious food, but eating it all is almost impossible with such huge portions.
Cons: I could have done without the cobwebs on the ceiling and those five spiders in the bedroom and another four in the bathroom. The floor also wasn't properly vacuumed. The morning was a bit noisy since it's situated right next to the road.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We did not have breakfast, the location was a bit too far for commuting.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was a perfect location for a walking break exploring the Lancashire coast and country. I had a beautiful apartment with king bed, kitchen and enormous bathroom. Comfy couch and nice TV. Free internet. Nothing lacking. Was able to walk from the front door as a stile led over fields to the canal or a lane at the back to Cockerham. Would go again.
Cons: I got an e-mail from the company listing a whole load of rules and regulations. Very off-putting. There was not need for this as the place was friendly and welcoming. If I hadn't booked last minute, I may have cancelled because of this list of rules. I am glad I didn't because it was lovely. There would have been a great view from the room but it was blocked by bushes which also restricted the light to the windows.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location is lovely with a few nice walks around the area. We enjoyed the live piano music at the grand hall on Saturday night and the spa facilities.
Cons: The magnet key did not work at first when given at reception. As we were tired after a 7 hour drive from London it was a bit of a nuisance to go all the way back to reception to get it fixed only to realize it was not fixed. Luckily we met a technician the 2nd time we were returning to reception and he helped us out.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Every thing is excellent. The apartment is very clean and tidy. It has every thing the family needs. The apartment is highly recommended.
Cons: 1- I booked an apartment and gave me one in the ground floor then I booked a new apartment for the next two days and asked for one in the top floor but they asked me to pay 30 pounds extra for the move although I have a new booking ! 2- Unlike other hotels, they do not clean the apartment after you get in.
7.5 Good
Pros: Self catering, location was amazing, peaceful, clean, beautiful
Cons: Reception does not pick call from apartment
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious and comfortable. Beautiful surroundings.
Cons: I didn't like the holiday having to end.

Pros: Staff as always very attentive. Clean rooms, good breakfast.
Cons: Evening meal was full of errors, from waiting over 45 minutes to be served to being served warm wine, and forgetting about one starter and serving the main before the starter was served, and finally serving mashed potatoes instead of chips. Yes they were busy! It was just one of those nights. All was sorted in the end.

Cons: Felt a little run down, towels where not the cleanest. Service was very slow at breakfast.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were friendly and efficient. The room was large and well equipped. The pool and outdoor hot tub was good.
Cons: Housekeeping is lacking. Behind the TV there was month's worth of dust. On the 2nd day the bed was not made up properly, bedding was just tucked in and cushions were left on the floor. Noisy plumbing from adjacent rooms. Some disruption into the early hours from wedding guests. Some freeview channels unavailable due to poor signal. Rooms are very warm. There was an electric fan but it was very noisy.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable, the only hotel in Lancaster to have a free car park and convenient for everything .
Cons: Glasses for room and more milks
10.0 Excellent
Pros: For the price, this is excellent accommodation in an excellent location. The inclusion of free on-site parking is a real bonus.
6.8 Good
Pros: The room was tastefully decorated to compliment its Victorian style. Very spacious and light with a good view. Earplugs were provided, probably because of its intimate proximity to the train station ( it is the old station house!) but we didn't need them as it was Sunday and the trains didn’t start until after nine thirty so a very peaceful nights sleep.
Cons: The room was basically clean, but could have done with a deeper clean around the edges and corners etc. It wouldn’t stop me from staying again.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly, welcoming.
Cons: We weren't told in advance that they didn't take cards! ☹️
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everthing lovely place
Cons: Could of done with glasses in room has had to use cup for a drink of water
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was quite spacious for three people, and the little table with a kettle and makings for coffee and tea was large enough that our group could eat dinner on it looking out our window which over looked the railway tracks. As my husband adores watching trains go by and it rained our entire stay, he enjoyed watching all of the trains whiz by. It was great that we had free secure parking and the castle was only about 5 minutes away by foot. Because the price was fairly cheap and there was no possibility of having breakfast I assumed the place was going to be rather dreary and was quite surprised to find such a lovely room.
Cons: There was a slight smell of cigarette smoke in the entire place, but not specifically in the our room itself.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place owned by very nice and friendly Family. The room was very cozy and had everything we needed. The house is very central and easy to find. If I'm going to visit Lancaster again i will sure book this place again! :)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable bed. Everything that I used worked and was in a good state of repair. Very close to everything. Owner was friendly but not intrusive. I did not find the description clear but I did have a very nice en suite and shower cabinet with plenty of hot water.
Cons: There is a microwave but no cutlery or plates. ie there is no kitchenette. No problem for me but bring a bottle opener. Not really a complaint just good to know what's what.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Lights shining through the bedroom window during the night

7.5 Good
Pros: Generally the Inn is nice, modern, great breakfast, fab location. Breakfast staff an exception to my grumbles above.
Cons: Very small room, described as luxury with no bedside tables. WiFi only downstairs, not in the room, cut off after30 mins although you could get back on again. Unwillingness to serve us after we were late for our dinner booking. Really? After a day's walking, lateness not to be unexpected but tired and hungry, of course, dont want to be frustrated by rigid unhelpful staff.

5.0 Okay
Pros: We had a gorgeous walk and the countryside was beautiful
Cons: There was no wifi on any of our devices 3 phones I pad and laptop, even in the bar, where we were told there was WIFI. I was waiting for news of my mother who was in hospital. There were no phones in the room so no room service. The remote for the tv wasn’t working and we needed some tv noise to drown out people leaving the bar, smoking and talking at the front of the inn. We took the remote downstairs and they put it under the bar we assumed they would return it to our room but no such luck, so had to go back for it, they changed the battery but it still didn’t work. It is not a hotel it is an overpriced bnb. The male staff especially the manager type person was unfriendly.

Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Tom and Mary are wonderful hosts, they have thought of everything you may need on your stay
Cons: It’s a little dated
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location excellent. Lancaster is a pain for driving and parking but this is walkable, and also by the canal if you choose, and has large and convenient parking facilities. Breakfast was comprehensive and excellent. Treatment by Tom and Mary was very personal and tailored to us (we had a graduation card in our room on the big day!)
Cons: I am struggling to find anything wrong, maybe add a soap dish in the shower? But that's not a complaint and really picky.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast + service =)
Cons: The shower needed a brief moment to adjust pressure and heat, that's all =)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Tom is very friendly and helpful. The room was nice and the breakfast excellent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really clean, sweet little room and very reasonable. The mini fridge for milk and water was a great idea and the flapjacks were gorgeous. Staff were amazing even gave us breakfast in the room as we were trying to get to graduation and got my daughter a graduation card. The chap there really couldn’t do enough for us. Would highly recommend this place as also very close to the centre. Don’t believe you could find a nicer b&b anywhere. A real little diamond.
Cons: Nothing was absolutely perfect.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Two young people Tom & Mary run the guest house efficiently and are helpful with any questions asked. Good choice at breakfast menu, full English cooked to perfection by Mary. I would recommend this b&b to anyone.
Cons: Our front room was a bit airless, due to its location at front with window open traffic noise could have been an issue, but room did have a fan which helped.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Tom us great. Superb breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hospitality was excellent and above all expectations. Couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was excellent, fresh and very tasty with plenty of choice. Cooked or continental.
Cons: TVs are small but that's a really minor thing. Dont really book a room to spend all day in there. Showers water pressure a bit low but this would not stop us booking again or recommending the place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable, great location, lovely rooms, big bathroom.
Cons: Nothing to not like

Pros: We stayed in a Pod at the hotel, which was located by the gate with great views down the River Lune. The pod was clean and well equipped, compact but perfectly formed.
Cons: The pod was right next to a road, it wasn't a busy road but some big lorries drove along it in the early hours.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Loved the location right on the water (although weather was horrendous). The bar was very quirky with beams. Plenty locals to tell us the history. We had accommodation across from hotel and was perfect with a seating area outside .Plenty parking. When you bought a drink you got a token and by our last round we exchanged tokens for discount.(good to see this scheme was for everyone not just locals). We had a meal which was lovely apart from pepper sauce and reasonable. Breakfast was great and staff faultless .
Cons: Glasses in bar had to be returned as dirty with lipstick.. not a problem for staff who were apologetic .pepper sauce was not good at all.
7.5 Good

Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was huge and has everything you need. The place had an amazing view and you got fantastic value for money. Will try the POD next time!
Cons: Everything was great but the only thing i would change was check in was slow due to the reception being the bar as well so i had 6 people in front and ni was holding a large bag in a fairly cramped rustic pub. This took longer than expected but its not a major issue.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room. Tea and coffee making facilities. Fabulous shower. Breakfast was tasty. Continental and cooked at no extra cost. Situated within easy reach of the Castle and the cathedral. Next to the canal. Welcoming and friendly staff. We ate dinner here, which was equally tasty, reasonably priced and a varied menu. I will definitely stay here again.

Pros: Comfortable beds, great AC and the Lancashire breakfast was excellent
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Only downfall was parking had to pay for parking
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Restaurant excellent. Breakfast 5 stars. Room had AC! Very quiet due to double pane windows even though on busy corner.
Cons: The bathroom lacked adequate shelving. We stayed in what was billed as family room but were just 2 and dragged a chair into bathroom just to have place to put down toiletries. A simple corner bookshelf would have helped greatly. Also the amt and quality of amenities below standard and not in keeping with other high end aspects of the property.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice rooms...very British style...good breakfast
Cons: Due to some problems at the kitchen we could not have dinner...but the staff recommended another good lacation...

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Continental breakfast with fresh fruit and cereal Very comfortable room good facilities
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely continental breakfast. Nicely decorated modern rooms. Comfy super king bed. Great pub, great location.
Cons: Nothing but recommended some type of sheer netting/ material to be hung at the bedroom window as the offices opposite had a direct view into the room so had to keep the curtains closed for privacy!
7.0 Good
Pros: Central location Clean and comfortable room Friendly staff
Cons: Continental breakfast disappointing compared to cooked breakfasts offered at other Lancaster hotels My room was facing the main road so there was some traffic noise in the day-time and evening when I opened the windows to let in fresh air because of the hot weather. However, this wasn't a big issue as I was out most of the time and it didn't affect my sleep as there was hardly any traffic at night. The hotel had anticipated this problem by providing a fan but it clattered when in operation.

5.0 Okay
Pros: Central location and even though no parking at the venue it was close by and secure
Cons: Shower tray had previous customers hair still in it. Poor night's sleep due to the amount of noise from the customers smoking directly below our room window. This included swearing and shouting to people on the other side of the road smoking outside the restaurant.
4.5 Okay
Pros: fix the lights on the room
Cons: lamps & ceiling lights were not working
7.0 Good

7.0 Good
Pros: A great location for visiting Lancaster within easy walking distance to the station and right in the City centre. The staff were really welcoming and helpful, and a free hot drink in the bar area was really appreciated, as was 10% off food ordered. The bed was comfortable.
Cons: The hotel was really hot and stuffy, especially in the bedroom as there was no air conditioning. We needed to keep the window open to get some fresh air over night, but that made it very noisy from both local venues and a reception in the hotel ballroom.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is going through a refurb so initial room, while like a grand suite in size, had wallpaper peeling off the walls! Upgraded to new room for £20. This room had not been cleaned or made up and so we were put into a newly refurbed family room. The staff at the desk were fantastic and the new rooms are really beautifully done.
Cons: not a real presentation on the booking sites in relation to likely room state given the majority of the hotel has not been refurbished.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice place in a very easy location and very central to many sightseeing places. Friendly staff that were very helpful.
Cons: Just that the room was very small so we should have booked a larger room.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location and the old style building
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The public areas have been updated and are beautifully presented and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Dinner in the restaurant was very good. We also tried cocktails in the Crypt. We will stay again in the future.
Cons: Our room was on the 4th floor. The bathroom was in need of updating to modern standards as did the furniture in the bedroom. We assume refurbishment is on going.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hotel and staff
4.3 Okay
Pros: friendly receptionist
Cons: Room very cramped, very noisy and hot !
5.8 Okay
Pros: The staff were helpful.
Cons: The hotel was very noisy. The room was very hot. Window was broken.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very clean towels, bedding very clean and bed very comfy, curtains good , sliding windows kept noise of the busy road out,
Cons: Room needs a makeover, mainly decorating, a coat of paint on the walls would improve the look of the room,
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: The bedrooms are not fit for RATS. I have never seen such a S**T tip in my life. The owners of this hotel need to call the hotel inspector for help.
