When in London, think luxury. As one of the world’s four fashion capitals, one of the globe’s two financial mega hubs, the capital of England and the UK, and home of the Queen and the British Royal Family, the question you should be asking is: why wouldn’t you want a London luxury car rental? Clothes maketh the man so the old saying goes, and as you would dress to impress, so you need to drive and arrive in style. If you’re looking to clinch a big business deal in the City, find new premises for the European division of your company or attend a glam fashion event, you need to seriously hire a vehicle that will turn heads.
In your search for London luxury car hire, keep in mind that London has no fewer than six airports: Heathrow (LHR), Gatwick (LGW), Stansted (STN), Luton (LTN), London City (LCY), and Southend (SEN). If speed is important and your trip is time-sensitive, then you should look at London City Airport first for your car hire as this airport is the closest to both Canary Wharf and the City, both of which are important financial centres. As an important aviation hub for Europe and a very big airport, you’re likely to find the widest selection of luxury cars at Heathrow.
The swankiest parts of London, from Westminster to Chelsea and Knightsbridge, are the places to be seen and where you can show off your wheels. Soho, Covent Garden, Piccadilly Circus and the West End are trendy entertainment hubs where you can take your London luxury car hire for a spin and soak up the nightlife or catch a show.
London does have a fair amount of traffic though, so remember to factor that into your car hire plans. The M25 London Orbital Motorway, which is right next to Heathrow and makes its way all around the metropolitan area, is often jammed with heavy traffic. Parking is also limited in some of the popular areas such as Soho, while parking is either banned outright on some days or charged at a premium the closer you get to central London.
25% of our users found a luxury car rental in London for $69 or less
Book your luxury car rental in London at least 1 day before your trip in order to get a below-average price
November is typically the cheapest month to rent a luxury car in London, with prices around $63 per day. The most expensive month is July, with average prices of $111 per day.

Mini

Finding the rental car location was about a half mile walk. I was told that there were no smaller cars as I requested, only mini SUV's and hatchback larger cars, neither of which I wanted as I am unfamiliar with driving on the English side of the road. The best they could do was to provide a small SUV which was a manual transmission and then sent me off to find it and drive it without any guidance on how the car operated. I walked back, rented an upgrade, after complaining the staff showed me how to use it and drop off was fine. I am so tired of the bait & switch tactics that I have filed a formal complaint and I will no longer, and I will advise all company employees to avoid Europcar. My advice: have the car someone reserved actually available. When you don't, offer an upgrade as a courtesy as they do in the U.S., and do not charge someone for it.

Compact SUV

I had phoned Europcar the day before my trip to advise that I would be picking the car up 8 hours later than expected. When I arrived at the office at LHR they said they had no notice of this on their computers and that they only hold the car for 6 hours, so had given the car to someone else. They said they could resurrect my booking by paying more to add my wife as an extra driver, which seemed bizarre, but I did so. Then the car they thought they could give me wasn’t there, so then they found me another car… the whole process took way too long, almost an hour, when I was exhausted after a transatlantic flight. I stayed calm and carried on.

I booked for a petrol car and upgraded from a compact suv to standard, with 300 miles inclusive per day in the Kayak app. However when I went to pick up the car from Sixt they gave me a electric compact suv and said I only had 300 miles for the whole booking and made me pay more to get more miles and the electric car was really a hassle as I was travelling to some villages and towns. They should have given me exactly what I had booked. Basically charged me a £100 more for nothing.

The ride quality of the car was very poor - very "wobbly" even on relatively straight A roads, and electric charging costs were much higher than expected, in part because we had no home charging lead so had to use publiv rapid chargers Would never hire this car again

I am asking KAYAK to contact me directly regarding this booking and investigate this with Avis. I booked an Avis vehicle through KAYAK / its booking partner for a specific rental period and at a confirmed price. Because of travel delays, I arrived approximately two hours after the scheduled pickup time. When I arrived at Avis Battersea, I was told that my reservation had been cancelled just 30 minutes after the scheduled pickup time. I have reviewed the terms and conditions that were presented with my booking. I cannot find anything stating that the reservation would automatically be cancelled after 30 minutes or that I would lose my confirmed rate if I arrived more than 30 minutes late. Avis’s own published UK guidance also does not appear to support what I was told at the location. Their FAQ says customers should call if they expect to be more than half an hour late — it does not say the reservation is cancelled after 30 minutes. A separate Avis FAQ states that, where a vehicle has already been allocated, it will generally be held for two hours after the rental start time. The most frustrating part is that Avis still had cars available when I arrived. They did not tell me they were sold out or unable to provide a vehicle. Instead, they refused to honour my existing reservation and said I could rent a car only by making a new booking at approximately three times the price I had already reserved. I also received no notification that my reservation had supposedly been cancelled. I fully accept that I arrived late. That is not the issue. The issue is that a significant 30-minute automatic cancellation rule was apparently applied to my booking even though I cannot find that rule disclosed anywhere in the terms I was provided. If I reserve a car from a specified start time until a specified return time, I expect that I am paying to reserve that rental capacity for that period. I understand that I do not get extra time at the end because I arrived late. What I do not understand is how the reservation can simply disappear 30 minutes after the start time, particularly when cars remain available, and I can then be asked to pay three times as much for essentially the same rental. That defeats the purpose of making a reservation in advance. I am particularly concerned because Avis has now directed me back to the third-party booking provider rather than explaining where this alleged 30-minute cancellation rule appears in the terms applicable to my booking. KAYAK: please contact me directly about this complaint. I would like KAYAK to review the terms that were displayed when I booked, confirm whether a 30-minute cancellation rule was disclosed anywhere in the booking flow, and raise this directly with Avis. I am seeking either a refund/reimbursement and appropriate resolution or a clear explanation showing exactly where, before purchase, I was informed that Avis could cancel my confirmed reservation after only 30 minutes and then require me to pay approximately three times the price despite still having vehicles available. I would appreciate a response from KAYAK rather than simply being redirected back to Avis.

The staff approach was generally non helpful. Verging on rude. That was while organizing the rental. When the vehicle was returned, there was no staff to greet and guide that all was good and where the bus, for return to terminal, was. I had to ask for guidance. This is a second rental in six months. I will only rent from them if I’m desperate. I recently rented from Alamo. The difference is like night and day

Overall great, some of the inside floor mats weren't the cleanest, and seemed like there was barely any windscreen washer fluid so was difficult to clear the rear windscreen once ice had melted, as the wiper seemed to leave murky streaks.

The car was not fully charged on pick up and we had to stop to charge and as a result a2.5 hour journey took us 5.5hours. My heavily pregnant wife was very stressed. There were no charger points available nor working when we stopped to charge. We then made it with 8miles left on the battery to the next charging station. We picked up my daughter 2hours late and that created further problems for the family looking after my daughter. They missed their connection to Ireland. The 155miles return journey to Gatwick we only just made again with less than 20miles left on the battery. We were assured the car would travel 255miles on a full charge. But it didnt ! All in all we had an awful experience and a very stressful journey, concerned all the way for my heavily pregnant wife. The girl at budget/Avis desk was Polish and her english language was very poor. I do need a car again Monday 4th for 1day hire again from Gatwick to take my daughter back to school and will use your search engine, but would be extremely concerned if we ended up with a hire from Budget again.

Our experience with hertz was excellent. We landed in Gatwick and walked to Hertz from the airport which was not very far. The car was ready and we had an upgrade to an automatic and I think the car was a bit bigger too. So all in all we are very happy with our experience. The car was very economical it was a Toyota four door CR hybrid. Thank you kayak for organising this, can’t fault anything. Drop-off was very smooth, we arrived half an hour before we had to drop it off someone was there immediately to assess it and we were told there was zero problems so no extra charges. Wonderful service all in all.

The car sizing was an issue , I booked a Peugeot 3008 ( or similar ) , after checking car sizes and doing some investigation . We had recently hired a MG HS, so expecting a 3008 or similar . They offered us a MG ZS , which is similar but much smaller . I knew a HS. and 3008 were similar . I then had to push to get a car similar , end up with an MG HS , for similar cost. There isn’t any effort for car rentals to actually have the car booked available ? . A tad annoying when it’s a rental for 55 days and sizing is critical.

Car was clean and well maintained. Pick up and drop off experience was horrendous. High pressure tactics to buy insurance. I double checked that I declined CDW while booking so that I can use my credit card insurance. But they declined to accept that, forcing me to take insurance. They gave some vague idea about the amount of petrol in the car they said half tank. . I missed taking a picture. So during return they insisted it was 3/4 tank. Had to pay for quarter tank. Very shady practices overall. Will not recommend renting through them again.

The car was fantastic! Brand new so was great. The only issues were that the branch I was told to go to was closed! There was a sign for a different branch so I had to walk 1.2kms to get there, and then had to wait for quite a while. Apart from this it was great. Drop off was seamless.

A terrible hire experience, bad enough to wreck your family holiday in London. We were given a hire vehicle with rim damage and were told not to worry as rim damage is counted as damage. We returned the vehicle the next day and got charged the full bond as there was a scuff on the tire. I asked for photos of the vehicle before I hired it, they couldn’t provide it. As soon as they know you have insurance through a third party they will look for any opportunity to take your full bond. In our case the scuff to the tyre required a spot light for it to be seen. Very disappointing as we picked this company due to stronger reviews to avoid this problem. The most detailed return inspection I have ever witnessed when hiring a vehicle. They are clearly looking for any opportunity to pass on charges for older vehicles to customers. No manager or similar to discuss with and left very frustrated due to the poor customer service. I wouldn’t recommend this hire car company.

Very disappointing. The pick up address was closed. Notice on door saying go to another office. No car availability when I got there. I had to wait three hours to get an automatic non-electric vehicle, which is what I booked and needed. No compensation offered.

My reservation was confirmed but when I got here they told they had no cars available.

Price online looks good. Aggressive push to buy more insurance. Even though I'd provided all my details ahead of time still took an hour to get the car. Prolonged series of forms and checks - multiple times my phone and credit card were taken out of my hands. Further more the car they gave me was very bashed up with a constant warning light about front parking sensor error.

This is the worst company and would never recommend anyone to book from them. Firstly they forced me to buy collision insurance and didn't accept the coverage provided by my credit card. At the time of booking there was no such requirement and if it was mandatory it should have been told at the time of booking, considering that they are scamming people. Secondly, they don't record all the damages to car and ask renter to record video, I tried to show them few scratches and the guy said record video, later while returning one of the scratch was not clear in video and the guy seems excited to blame me for that scratch luckily I found another video on my phone in which those scratches were evident. Never rent from them and go for known brands. I have already raised complaint to priceline for refund of addition $200 that I had to pay at pick up but they are also not helpful though it is a mistake by both of them.

From start to finish zaine was Professional helpful and a great lad. I Wasn't expecting it to be as cheap as it was without hidden costs, but even the platinum insurance was resonable in comparrison to most Rental places I have visited (which is alot lately). 100% reccomend these guys!!

Staff is very rude and attempt to commit fraud. I bought the platinum protection package which protects you from liability in case of scratches or even totaling the car and they’re still try to withhold my deposit of $254. Worst people I’ve ever dealt with.

Negative: On arrival at Heathrow T4, despite what was on my booking from the broker (and what I have since confirmed is posted on the Surprice website), Surprice Heathrow pick-up only covered T2/T3/T5. This meant having to get a train with multiple bags which was very challenging for one person. My AMEX credit card was also not accepted (despite having already been used through the broker booking for part payment of the fee) Additionally, I was informed at the counter that I would need to pay extra to be dropped off at the airport on my departure Lastly, the car was dirty and had clearly not been cleaned. The agent offered to clean the car but I was now running late due to the unexpected trip from T4, etc so had to waive this offer Positive: On returning the car a few days later, I provided my poor experience to a gentleman called Sadan, who was handling the car check-in. He was very attentive and extremely customer focused. He apologised for the issues I had encountered and provided a complimentary drop off to the airport.

There were no instructions for pickup, just an address that goes to the wrong location. There should be shuttle pickup mentioned, because there was one, but we didn't know about it and ended up walking 3 miles with luggage to get to the correct location.

The in person workers were pleasant enough but the car was terrible. We were told we’d have a 5 person 4 suitcase car. When we put our suitcases in the car we barely fit 3 people. The windshield wipers did not work and we had many days of scary rain. We had to hold them down while driving and it wasn’t safe. The stick shift didn’t work properly and the car pulled badly to the left. We tried many times to call customer service to exchange the car or return it to a different location because we were too scared to drive it. We were never able to get a hold of someone that could help us. One time we spoke to a person and she supposedly gave us an inside line but no one ever answered the line. We had locals try to help us, the two hotels tried but to no avail. We left the car parked at a hotel for 6 days without driving it because we couldn’t get back to where we rented it and we were too scared to drive it. The whole thing was awful and traumatizing. When we returned it we let them know about the difficulties but they didn’t seem to care. I won’t rent from them again. I hope they look it over before renting it out again but I doubt they will as they are so busy.

Very disappointing, I arrived at the planned time for pickup the car from the confirmed booking, they said their computer system was down and were not able to deliver any car. They didn't try to find a solution, just left me behind with a "sorry". I had to call myself the head office, telling me that they could not do anything for me. So I had to find another rental company nearby, paying 3 times more for last minute option.

Kayak sold me an insurance package that was not accepted by the rental company. The rental company requires police proof that you have insurance with full loss coverage of meer than 35000 pounds. Without it you are forced to buy their insurance package which doubled the cost of the rental. Would not recommend.

Absolutely the worst experience I’ve ever had in renting a car. Arrived in the cold morning, front desk said we had to walk across the parking lot in the freezing cold with a baby to speak to someone. That person told us to wait outside in the cold with a baby until a manager arrived. After 30 min we were told that no manager was coming and that they had no car for us. They offered no solution and had no compassion. They said that they knew they didn’t have a car the day before and didn’t call of notify us in any way. Absolutely despicable.
