Loved the cleanliness and acces to freeway, lounge, bar, parking availability, and restaurants near by. Music from lounge across hotel was too loud. Difficult to sleep early evening. Nonetheless, great place.
Just returned from a week long vacation in San Diego. A friend suggested we stay at the Marina Gateway Hotel. Best tip yet...the staff was friendly, the rooms were very clean, and all of the amenities were in good working order. Only drawback was no continental breakfast in the morning, but there was a nice restaurant across the parking lot. I would suggest this hotel to anyone:)
I liked the room. It was clean and relaxing. I don't know why I had to pay extra $30 and house keeping didn't clean our room.
The price was good and the hotel was nice. Per the Hotel, none of my specific requests made it to them. I was part of a large group heading to Baja to ride off road motorcycles. I was splitting the room and had booked a double and requested it to be on the first floor near the parking lot, as we needed to bring bulky gear into the room at night and I wanted to be near the trailer filled with motorcycles. When I arrived a single was booked on the fourth floor. I was able to get what I needed but not without a bit of stress and a bit of attitude from the front desk. He said "The only request we got from your on-line company was that you needed a room." It all worked out in the end.
Staff was great, hotel was very well kept They do not offer rides to the airport which was very inconvenient.
Loved the price we got through kayak! This hotel felt like one of the expensive all inclusives. Location was get, easy on and off of the highway, short drive to all attractions! Restaurant on the property was expensive, very poor service and had live music that was TOO loud.
This hotel is very clean and workers were very friendly and helpful! Just wish they have a restaurant inside.
The location is best and spaces in the hotel is confortabla. The staff my registreicion is verry bat the person in the frot desck is despotic and stupid very bat experenccie
Staff was super friendly and helpful. Rooms were nice and clean. Good location and free parking! No complaints
Parking was free and plentiful. Beds were very uncomfortable and the pool was small.
Reservation not acknowledged at respective hotel...put on hold by customer service for over an hour! Will not use Kayak app in future!
The staff was very helpful and David the shuttle driver was excellent! It was clean and close to the transportation in to downtown San Diego. The bath room needed a fan as it got very foggy when taking a shower!
I was very upset that I was told there would be a free airport shuttle and once I got there I found out that was not the case. That is the only reason I picked that hotel. I had to spend an extra $30 to get to the airport. The room had a very bad smell and when I complained to front desk they didn't do anything about it. Also there were 2 occasions that someone tried to open my door so I could not sleep. I just had surgery and was not feeling well and this was a very unpleasant experience.
Nice soft bed Noise from freeway, bathroom toilet didn't work right
I love that it was so clean and the staff was very nice. The hotel was very close to the convention center.
There was hair in the sink and bathroom walls once I got into my room
I like the friendly staff & over all clean rooms. Great for the price. I didnt like that i had stayed their two different nights & the second time the rooms headbored was tacky & the tub had a peal
The view of the navy ships.
Room was clean, it was reasonably priced. One bed was like a fold out. The other was normal.
i forgot my charger & call back just few hrs latter, they told me that there is nothing in the room.so some one of staf told my charger.
Scary! When I checked in, I noticed it being old and it in a bad part of town, but I didn't anticipate the night I was in for. I was awakened by an all room / all floor party. The room doors open to the exterior with balcony corridors to lead you to the elevator on all floors. So, you could hear everyone from all floors involved in the after hours event. I had a really early flight to leave for in the morning and needed to get out of my room. I had to call security to escort me down. I am glad to be out of there.
Hot shower is the only real good thing that came from this stay. Noisy area and crabby guest. Hotel is old and needs serious upgrades. Especially a cleaning detail of its halls and stairway. Smelled like mold in the room and urine smell in the stairwells. Elevator broke during our stay and a woman and kids were stuck. Firefighters had to come and rescue the guest. So the stairway was the only option. For my family and I we had no issues with some extra PT because my we were on the 5th floor. But other guest that were on the heavy side complained and yelling when taking the stairs. In closing the price to value wasn't worth it. With taxes the final price per stay should be no more that $65. Felt like a big motel 6 style place.
The staff was very nice. The toilet jiggled. The bathroom door was warped and hard to close.
Bed was great...firm mattress, and room was clean. Check-in could be a bit improved. Slow, distracted employee.
Room was very clean, complimentary breakfast was good. Staff was very friendly. Rooms are very quiet, the hotel is back from the street so you do not hear street traffic noise. The pool and hot tub were both small and somewhat disappointing. The weater was cool so we didn't use too much.
the staff was very helpfull and very friendly,we got great advice and directions, what to see in San Diego. The room very nice big and clean ,so was the entire hotel. The hotel is close to the freeway and close to restaurants and the city judging by the pics on the webside we expected the Pool some how more in a back jard setting and the hotel property much larger,Garden Like. However it would not stop me from coming back again.
The decor was amazing throughout the hotel. The foyer/lobby was stunning along with the rooms. We stayed in the Harbor Tower on the 23rd floor. The view was spectacular. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The only problem we had was with our TV to where we couldn't order movies one night. The night manager gave us a $100 credit which was very satisfactory. I would definitely stay here again. The food at the Market wasn't good. I had a turkey sandwich from the refrigerated section and the bread was very stale. My wife ordered a bagel with cream cheese and she could hardly bite into it.
Facilities Location & price.
Our checkin was quick and we love the location. I expected room to be a little cleaner for what we paid...
Views Large king bed Activities in and around Near gas lamp District Self parking fee - 35 (50 deposit) Better soundproof doors closer to elevators Near gas lamp district
View. Room size. Location. When I woke up in the AM i noticed my iPhone was covered in dust. I then noticed the desk with my black laptop, across from the air conditioning vent was also covered in dust particles. This is a big deal for me because I have a dust mite allergy, but still have never seen this level of dust collect just overnight. I think the air filter vents in these rooms are very very dirty and just blow dust all night as Long as the AC is running. I was extremely congested all day due to my allergy and had a hard day networking at my convention. Also, the TV service this day and age is sub-poor. No guide and some of the channels didn't work "no signal".
The view They changed $47 for parking
Everything! Service and location was best Dusty room
We immediately felt welcome as Rob at the front desk gave us information about the facility and its surroundings. He gave us a corner room near the top with spectacular views. We got two beds which is plenty of room for family of four. Inside the room there is is luxurious atmosphere with open space. There is also Keurig with Starbucks coffee. Overall clean and modern, with even electronic shades. I have stayed at plenty of upscale hotels and this is the best by far. The location is the best. I went jogging at the lovely Seaport Village right next to it. The Gaslamp Quarter is also near. Overall an excellent place and we would definitely come back!
- Great location - Great drinking & dining options - Great interior design and decor - Clean - Loud guests after 10pm - A little on the expensive side - Add-on expenses (parking, water, etc)
Great location, we had a beautiful view of the water and of the pool area. The pool was very nice as were the hot tubs. The room was very clean and spacious and the staff was very polite. And I did not have to wait long for an elevator. The only issue we had was that our parking pass was note coded so we were unable to exit the garage. The staff quickly corrected it thouh.
Unlimited Access To EVERYTHING FUN Leaving
Located with in walking distance to the Gas Lamps District, Petco Park, water front and many more areas that I like. Clean rooms and friendly staff. Every year me and the wife go on a little get away and we always stay here.
Oh the views from the rooms on the upper floors are incredible. Rooms are average size, and much smaller than the Marriott and Hyatt which are close by. Parking $35 a day what a ripoff. My daily rate for the car rental was less. It was difficult to find the Fox Sports Bar as you had to go outside. Hotel needs to have better signage.
Clean and comfortable It would appear people mostly come here too party. The first night there was a party at a the end of the hall and a large case of empty beer cans in the hall in the morning. The second night We were woken at about midnight to screaming and carrying on outside our room, literally outside our room. We asked the partiers to be quieter but gave up when we saw it was > 15 people in the hallway. They quieted down at 0300.
Location Given room with bad view. When others were available with good view.
Location is great being right off the bay, convention center next door. Views of downtown and Coronado island were stunning from our room. Parking runs between $30-$40 per night, which wasn't included in the original booking costs. On site restaurant had bad reviews; fox bar was decent.
Well kept room Terrible wi-fi and 17USD / day upgrade is utterly ridiculous
Can't beat the view! We have stayed numerous times, always a good experience.
Nice, clean room. Nice hotel. I would go back, but hated paying $35 for parking!! Parking is WAY too expensive!!
View from room was spectacular . Beds very comfortable Booked a view room on line requested a refrigerator got to hotel was told that I did not book that room and it would be $ 35.00 dollars more a night for view room . No refrigerator. 2 days without housekeeping had to call front desk to get room cleaned.
We loved the location and he cleanliness. It was very quiet and the room was extremely comfortable! We did like the view but wished there were more pictures online so you can get a good feel of the view you're paying for. I believe it would be helpful for further bookings.
It is on the bayfront and has restaurants and close to Gaslamp. On the first morning of our stay, the housekeeping supervisor with her clipboard came banging at our door at 8am. She didn't stop until we jolted out of a deep sleep to answer the door. When we came to the door she pretended not to speak English. The parking is $35/day. There is no fridge in the room. The duvets had stains and smelt bad.
The locations was great next to the convention center and Gas Lamp. Also close to food and shops. Clean, renovated and felt luxurious.
Staff was polite Understaffed with ling lines to check in and out. Key cards never seemed to work. Remote control in room was broken. And for some reason the cleaning staff liked to block my door to my room with their cart. Spent most of my time away from the hotel.
Location is how this place makes its money. Very convienent Not updated at all and the beds where cheap.
the amenities close to the water staff was very accommodating and friendly our upgraded room was amazing what's not to like? Met our expectations.
The balcony! The cleanliness! The comfort! Pet-friendly (Belle, our chihuahua, was happy to be with us)! Everything was great!
Their were some perks my co-workers received without inquiring about and I was not even asked. My room was not ready until 6:15 pm then I asked for a late check out they gave me a hard time.
Easy to get to airport and back A little overpriced for quality. Parking is expensive and breakfast should be included or offered at a better price
Overall I enjoyed my stay at the Sheraton. I stayed in the Bay Tower. The hotel was very quiet and relaxing. My room had a great view of the bay and the balcony was large. The hotel is located closer to the airport, so you don't get a lot of street noise or foot traffic (which adds to the quiet/relaxed vibe of the hotel). The room was large/spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was spacious. The room was very well decorated. The staff was very friendly and professional. Initially, I was placed in a room on the 2nd floor which is the lobby level, i.e. ground floor. When I got to the room, I didn't like the location, so I called guest services and requested a new room. They were more than accommodating, and moved me to a higher level. The balcony furniture needs to be updated. I enjoyed the balcony, however, the furniture is cheap in comparison to everything else in the room. The resort fee seems unnecessary. I was charged a fee, but never told what was included with the fee. The price increases for higher floors (so my room change cost me more money per day). The rooms could be cleaner. As nice as the hotel was, the room needed to be dusted. There was dust everywhere (on the coffee maker, in the mini bar, on the lamps, and on the remote control). It appeared as if the room hadn't been used in a while.
Location. Waited 20 minutes to check in. Entirely too long.
I brought my dog and all the staff could help direct me places to go. Thanks for the beautiful view I enjoyed Wish I could have walked somewhere for less expensive foods
Close to airport and had a shuttle to the airport. Close to Gaslamp District, so we could take a cab for dinner. Restaurants were closed down with the exception of one. The palm tree outside of our window blocked our view. The room you get through online is the old tower (hotel) and quite removed from everything else. Noise all night with partying people upstairs...went until 4:45 a.m. until we left for the airport.
Morning It's dirty, cockroaches, staff was rude. Overall worst hotel experience ever. I will never come back again.
The tower I didn't stay in The second tower is a five minute walk from the first and all the nicer facilities are in the first tower.
The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the bed was comfortable. The room was very loud. We were able to hear in the most precise detail what was going on in the room next to us (including our neighbor's conversations and television preferences). We ask to be moved, but the second room was equally as bad.
Nothing This is by far the worst hotel I've ever been in! The room, (505) was so small that I think they had to build the room around the bed. It was so small that the bathroom had to have a sliding door. I truly don't believe a normal door would be able to open / close. The air conditioning didn't work and the overall area seemed seedy. Numerous bailed bond companies with likely clients in the area. When I asked about the area the clerk advised, "Just stay on Broaday."
Nicely restored hotel with character. Restaurant/bar is very good with open, upbeat ambiance. Bed was excellent quality. Room was pleasant. We would stay here again. Easy walking distance to many restaurants and club area as well as to the harbor with the Midway Museum. Got in about 9:45 p m and the hotel restaurant had closed early. Although the walk to the restaurant area was easy, there are about three blocks of homeless sleepers which was a bit uncomfortable.
Nice lobby with friendly staff greeting us upon arrival. Lots of charm with short excerpts posted throughout highlighting the history of the building. Room was comfortable with all needed amenities for a place to stay. The purpose of our stay was the city. This room gave us a comfy pillow top mattress to rest and recharge each night with complimentary water keeping us hydrated. Workout facility was nice and hardly crowded during our stay. No complaints and would gladly stay here again. Rooms were small. There was no view including limited sunlight through the window plus the "green" lighting made it so you had to turn every light in the room on when getting ready. Bathroom was small and no vent :-/. Closet didn't open all the way due to being obstructed by the bedside table (again, room was small). I'm being as honest as possible with these negative, but the purpose of the room was met and the pros far exceeded the cons during our stay.
Very friendly staff, the location was perfect. Valet parking was great. The room was smaller than expected, but was well equipped.
Excellent hotel that is well priced and located.
It's location is perfect. Walking distance to pretty much everything you would want to do downtown; gaslamp, marina, horton plaza, etc. Room was perfect for me and my girlfriend. Staff was very accomodating. Parking.
The room was small, but comfortable. It had everything you could want, including a mini frig. The location was great. Within walking, or public transportation, to everything downtown San Diego has to offer. The valet parking was expensive.
I loved everything
Amazing staff. Overall very nice hotel. Dust. This is the the only minus.
I was surprised to have to pay a mandatory fee for services that I did not use or want. I thought that was very unfair of the hotel.
Location is excellentl. Amenities of hotel are up to date and staff were helpful and cordial Hotel is nearly a hundred years old. Room was on the small side but that is to expected.
Large clean room, good views, many on-site amenities shops and restaurants, great location, helpful efficient staff. Expensive rooms, extra charge for internet, no ventilation fan in the bathroom.
Option for self parking with option to come in and out. Great fitness area and pools. A little pricey. Internet charge.
Nice grounds, hotel staff very friendly. While on vacation being woken up at 4:00 am and 6:00 am every morning due to construction work being done on the expansion of the conference center was a bit maddening. I got the impression that they were behind schedule due to the 3:30 am dumpster clean out. The services at the one and only restaurant was very poor. Complete mayhem in the understanding of the services due to poor management, Often times we would have to go look for a server to get a drink at the lounge area.
Experience was great
Great gym; liked having Starbucks in hotel. Great location. Construction site. Hallways super narrow. Bathrooms small. Will be nice to see it in a year from now
The hotel was clean, comfortable, and the service was good. The facility is very nice and the location is prime. Everything was overpriced. Valet was $47 a night ($35 for self parking), the hotel charged an extra $12 for Internet service, and the room service arrived in a paper bag and plastic cups (very disappointing).
The location, staff, atmosphere spectacular customer service. The pool area was heavenly. I wasn't able to stay forever.
As a young couple, we have not stayed at many nice hotels. This was a very refreshing look into the "adult" world, and truly sets a precedent for what a well put together hotel looks like. No complaints whatsoever.
Location Family friendly Great staff Would definitely stay there again! Self parking is horrible. Valet parking is $45 a night.
The location and the view of the room Subaverage room. The price of the room and the room itself does not match. Small beds, small bathroom, small sink area, not a luxury hotel, less than average room.
Love the pool area, felt as if I where in an all-inclusive-resort. Like that the Boardwalk was just steps away. Would definitely recommend this hotel I stayed on the South Tower, did not like the construction noise and sight of construction
Beds were comfortable. Concierges were all great -- friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Pool was lovely, view was lovely. Nice pre-set videos for fitness classes. I did the yoga. Balcony quite small. Restaurant nice for breakfast buffet but dinner wasn't very good.
The staff is very friendly. The hotel is very clean. The free hot breakfast was good. The location is is great.
Location, room separate from living area a huge plus. I booked over the phone directly with the hotel, what I was quoted over the phone was $100 more than what was emailed to me in my confirmation. I had to cancel, and was transferred to 3 people before I was allowed to do so. I was told there was Self-Park or Valet, upon arrival I was informed there is ONLY valet and it was $42.00. I was not informed that the hotel was under major renovations when speaking to the hotel on the phone either. "heated pool" was barely warmed up, more cold than anything. The parking felt like the biggest disappointment, especially being lied to over the phone.
The rooms are big, and the hotel close to a beautiful beach. The is a nice center of restaurants near the hotel The Peking in the hotel too expensive
Breakfast, as always, was good. We were not able to enjoy happy hour as we had another commitment. Location was great. $46/day for valet parking is ridiculous. Luckily we are Hilton Honors members, because $12.95/day for internet is also ridiculous. For the price of the hotel, internet should be included, and parking reasonable.
Nothing went right and it continued even after we left the hotel
Choices to be green. Close to the convention center. Hours for the recreation area were limited.
almost everything worked out just fine for us.. long line for happy hour.
I was told there was Self-Park or Valet, upon arrival I was informed there is ONLY valet and it was $42.00.
Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean and large. The hotel location was ideal due to its proximity to different eateries and shops. I wish I had the time to enjoy a run near the waterfront which looked lovely. It was a little pricey at over $300/night, but then again it was Memorial Day weekend.
Location After realizing I left a jacket in the closet, I immediately contacted the hotel to retrieve it. Two messages were left on housekeeping voice mail. Twice I spoke to front desk and was prommised missed a call back which never came. No manager was available at any time. After a day and a half I recieved a message from housekeeping that they didn't find it. The outcome would have been different had the front desk or management given quality customer service. I am a Hilton Honors member and frequent guest.
The breakfast. Didn't like the $40 night parking fee and I thought the customer service at the front desk was terrible.
Breakfast was good. Afternoon cocktails and snacks were a nice touch. Big, comfortable room. No drinking glasses in room. They charge for Wifi.
Great location, great staff, clean, funky and fun. Rooms are small and water pressure sucks.
Location was great. Right at the start of the Gaslamp District. Walking distance to many great restaurants and bars. Close to the baseball stadium. Staff was friendly and offered good suggestions for dinner. Gym was nice. Arrived on the day of a baseball game. Road closures made it difficult to get to the valet drop off point. Valet only. Cannot park your own car. Wish the hotel room was more clean. Lots of items in the room (i.e. Snacks and items for purchase) that hadn't been swapped out in a long time. For a 4 star hotel I expected a little more. Room needed a refresh - signs of wear and tear.
Tech /music accesbility. Hospitality. Clubs, bars, and restaurant in the building Price for parking
The Woodstock suite was awesome the room with balcony was great. The restaurant Mary Janes was very good and Robbie the concierge was very helpful. Fun place to be After checking in and not an early check in were were barged in by the cleaning staff. That could have been embarrassing, right! Then I get an email a day after checkout with a 93.00 minibar charge we took 2 waters and two beers, even at crazy assed minibar prices that doesn't add up to 93.00. It is disappointing because we really had a good time and I like the hotel and their staff, but I don't like being screwed!
Stop charging resort fees. Include microwave and minifridge in each room.
The exhaust fan in the bathroom was so loud that it disturbed our sleep even with the door closed.
The room decor and layout was very modern and had a nice feel to it.The staff was very friendly and nothing but helpful when needed. Couldn't have asked for better service. The mattress was a bit too soft for my liking. Also the walk in shower looked great and the dual shower heads were nice but it caused large amounts of water to pool up where you're supposed to dry off
Fine hotel Was charged for a king suite and received a regular room. Haven't received the credit yet.
The bed was very comfortable and my view was amazing! One of my towels was dirty upon arrival.
Nice Location High price
Location is excellent - in the heart of Gaslamp Quarter, actually right next to the Gaslamp sign. Pretty good view depending on where the room is located. Direct exits to 5th Ave, 6th Ave, and L St is a nice added convenience. Studio King room was great - clean, modern decor, comfortable bedding, great bathroom with rainfall and standard shower head, iPhone 5+ dock, good channel selection on TV. Lobby and surrounding have nice, clean, modern decor. After housekeeping, we found that the original iPhone dock we were provided was switched for a different model. The original one was better for us, as we could directly mount the phone for charging without a cable needed. The newer model required a cable, which we didn't have. Called the desk and they didn't know why it was switched, and said they'd follow up to resolve the issue... they never did. Overall, staff is not the most helpful.
The staff was friendly and courteous. The entire stay was pleasant and we were well taken care of as guests.
Location Beds were terrible and room was small
Enjoyed our stay with our 5 yr old. Very courteous staff, local amenities, and close Seaport Village and other site seeing entertainment. Now a favorite, will definitely stay again in the near future.
Elegant and plush surroundings, very comfortable bed, room was lovely with great amenities even though I had a single room. Great power breakfast meal!
The hotel is a historic landmark located near the Gaslamp district in downtown San Diego. The location is great for shopping, site seeing, and night life. The staff of the hotel was superb! A fantastic back drop for a romantic getaway.
Cool vibe. Great room and decor. Easy check in.
The room was great and service was excellent. Very noisy on the 4th floor exterior room all night long on a weekend.. I requested a room with a view and got a view of the rundown buildingf to peo next to us and listene.
It was a wonderful expeeience from the moment we walk in to the time we left. It's a beautiful hotel with a wonderful staff. The Spa Suite was a little plain in appearance for a luxury hotel but the therapist was excellent.
Great bed Could hear doors closing and thin walla
The rooms were big and the decor was very nice. The staff were great and the location was perfect for visiting San Diego. The charge for parking is too high. We parked on nearby streets for a tenth of the cost.
We always enjoy staying at the US Grant. The staff is friendly the restaurant and bar are wonderful the location is perfect. The rooms are nice the beds are comfortable. The pillows and I would ask not to stay facing fourth Street again.
Solid hotel as always Front desk clerk who checked us in was not professional and quite curt. Train your staff for those who travel far distances who deserve a little common courteously, will you?
The room was clean and well laid out. The bed was comfortable, and the windows was nice and big. The bathroom stayed humid/moist for a long while after taking a shower.
Loved the location, bed, look and feel of the room, and the staff. I stayed in a water facing room with a (sort of) balcony on the 20th floor. It was a tremendous view I had a fantastic time. Couldn't possibly be closer to gas lamp district The room was a bit small and unequipted for the price per night. No microwave or refrigerator unless you call and ask for one to be sent up which was a bit tedious. Overall only complaint I could have
Facilities were very well kept. Room was very nice, and looked out over the Bay Area. Great location to GasLamp Quarter, restaurants, and connects to Petco Park. Great proximity to the convention center. Staff was accommodating. Concierge and valet staff were very knowledgeable on good places to eat/see in San Diego and other surrounding vicinities such as La Jolla, Coronado, etc. Also, got a little discount on zoo tickets by purchasing them at the hotel. Valet parking is a little steep. They charge $40.00/day. I agree they should charge for the service as its quicker and easier for someone to park your car and bring it to you, but $40.00/day is a little high. On the upside, you can use it as much as you want.
Functional and clean rooms, all amenities available. Excellent location for conferences in convention center or one of the large surrounding hotels. As expedia costumer typically placed in one of the less favorable rooms (in this case above the pool bar, whci was used for evening and morning events with music) Pricey food and drink items in the hotel (e.g. bottled water 7$) One of the access paths for baseball games is through the hotel, hence before and after games the business center and gym are virtually unusable.
it's a great location. Easy access to any part of sd. Our neighbors were partying until 4 am despite complaints. Hotel did not do anything about it.
friendly staff, very clean rooms, beautiful view, accessible inconvenient parking fees for valet, no fridge in rooms, pricey
I love everything about this hotel! From the location, the rooms, the staff, the bar and restaurant, to the new friends I made.
Its was clean staff was amazing I have nothing that we didn't like
Staff were very nice. Clean hotel. Very accommodating I got charged $42 fot valet parking. Valet parking should be free. You are already spending money in staying in that hotel why wouldn't the valet parking be included?? That's one thing I was Not happy about.
Very clean, comfortable bed, nice staff, perfect location, and great view from the 17th floor. N/A
Staff was very courteous, rooms were clean and well stocked, beds were comfortable and had clean sheets. Clise to bars and restaurants. Overall very comfortable. Location is a bit far from the beach
The hotel is amazing with a lot of history. The staff were very helpful, and nice. The food was very good, but the charge you for everything. We were celebrating my sister's birthday, and we got a gift card for a few discounts around the hotel. The hall outside the rooms were dirty. The hotel is very old, and some parts of it, shows it. The carpet in our room was old and dirty. The cocktails were worst than the cheapest all inclusive, and expensive
We have always wanted to stay here for a romantic getaway We had to wait for our room
Location and property of the hotel were amazing! Food was overpriced.
Loved it, never had to leave for anything. Great Restaurants and Shops One of the greatest locations you will experience
Always a great staff, beautiful room, all of the history of the Del, and romantic atmosphere.
Great near the beach and restaurants The toilet leaked and flushed all the time we were there, night time it was really annoying. Also, the automatic light feature in the bathroom kept going on throughout the night probably 20 times! Very thin walls and ceiling. Definitely not worth the money, but as a one time stay over.
The main building is charming, decadent and very unique. You'd be hard pressed to find another beachside resort like the Del The towers are the opposite: not charming, cheaply built and the polar opposite of the Victorian main. Also, everything was twice the price includes the brunch.
Amazing location, super kid friendly with all sorts of activities. Great pool and service too! Sunday buffet was one of the best I've had. We stayed in the ocean towers which does not look like the other buildings and is a tad outdated with a CD player. Our refrigerator had to be fixed and at one point the hot water stopped working. I'll go back but stay in the main building next time.
Everything was so clean and beautiful. Cost was a bit much. Nickeled and dined you for everything you did
Beautiful location and great food! We paid for an ocean view and they stuck us on the second floor where our view was the back wall of the pool bathroom and a giant tree. Could barely see the ocean at all.
The location was outstanding. The room wasn't very clean - dusty baseboards and window blinds. It was also pretty loud, with door-slamming making sleep elusive.
Proximity to downtown SD. No pool, no airport shuttle.
I paid 42$ for valet because i didn't want to walk the 2 blocks away for self parking that cost 30$. It isn't the amount that bothered me the valet scratched my brand new 2016 highlander. None of the valets fessed up and I didn't notice until after i checked out and drove off.
I love the location! The view was pretty good. Loved the room. I'm a huge fan of Aveda products and for them to have them there, was a huge plus! The friendly staff was great. Always greeting and always smiling. And the price was good. Great place to stay. Not a big fan of $40 valet parking. I didn't like that they didn't offer smoking rooms. Also, I didn't like that you couldn't vape up stairs at their rooftop bar. Why we left to another roof top bar that did allow vaping. That was kind of a bummer.
Very dog friendly, friendly professional staff, comfortable spacious room
The hotel was clean and modern, what I would expect from a down town hotel. There was advertised parking but it was valet and an extra 40+$. Nothing extravagant, aveda products, ample space, modern touches, restaurant and bar on site. In gaslamp quarter perfect for walking any where. Every thing was clean No parking, they have valet. It's 40+$. Views of other buildings, down town standard. Thermostat didn't bother me, but was a bit warm for my partner.
The room and view we're great. Very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable, I took pictures of the label to buy the same mattress for my self. The valet parking Was over priced at $41/day. Especially since there is a garage 3 blocks away that is only $15/per day but I had a broken ankle and had to use their valet parking. Most of the time had to wait over 20 min one day they misplaced my car after about 45 min had to go with the valet to find my car in the garage. To the hotel's credit they were very apologetic and comped my valet parking fee for my entire stay so they still have good customer service in my book.
The desk staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were nice and clean. Relevant and modern decor. Rooftop bar is nice with a great view into the stadium. Would stay again for sure.
Location We booked in advance and were told that the best price was around $258.00 a night,Big Lie. On the day of the trip your site said the rate was $158.00 and the next day it said $148.00. We asked to have our rate adjusted and were told that they had no responsibility as your site collected our money and paid them. Your statement about having the "BEST DEAL" was a total lie. I will never use your service again and I will warn everyone I know about your deception. We were overcharged about a $100.00 a day and stayed at the hotel for five nights YOU OWE US $500.00.
It was a beautiful, well managed and well located hotel I did not like that when I booked it said parking was an amenity. That made it seem like it was included. It would have been helpful to know that it only offered valet parking that is $41/night. That was a big shock when we arrived and a bit upsetting it was not mentioned before we booked
The staff was very nice and friendly. They wanted to know where we were from and why we were there. As it turned out we told them that we were there celebrating out 44 wedding anniversary. When we got back to the room, after dinner, there was a bottle of wine and 2 lovely glasses waiting for us (compliments of the hotel). A totally nice stay. We will recommend the hotel if asked. We have already told several people what a great stay we had. The security is very good. My wife likes to use the stairs for the exercise. They were meant to be fire escapes and exit outside and require an employ to enter from outside.
Clean, great location, nice room and a modern feel. Valet is 41 bucks... Give me a break. Parked a block away for $15
Beautiful room (upgrade) Great location Friendly and helpful staff Excellent upkeep Parking is high... better to use taxi/uber
The rooms were dirty. Showers and toilet looked unclean. Carpet was sticky. Only stay here if you really cant afford anything better. Dog poop all over the grounds/grass, wasnt picked up. Was not a "RESORT" as titled.
Mostly everything was ok. The outlets didn't fit right when trying to plug in too loose.
It was not what I'm accustomed to
It was clean and cheaper, but that was all I can say. Thin windows next to the freeway. It was really loud. Bed was ok, no hot water. The electrical outlets were old and my charger fell out of the socket so I couldn't charge or use anything. Internet didn't work.
Laundry and pool area. Very clean! Thank you.
Dirty bathroom...T.v. cable wasn't working...Wi-Fi poor connection
It was right off the highway & looked like a good stopping place foe my cross-country move. There was black mold growing along the walls, white stains in the carpet, and a soiled chair. The tubs drain was clogged as well, filling up the tub with blueish water during a shower. I was by no means expecting luxury, but the condition of this room was appalling. Staff didn't seem the least bit concerned, and management has not responded to my concerns. The state health department should shut this place down.
Great location, just a few minutes from most tourist locations. Nice cozy restaurant and pool. Great beer and happy hours with pool When we got there, they gave us a room that smelled like wet dog, probably cause they saw my as a young college kid and thought i wouldnt care; i asked for a room change and they switched us to a way better and cleaner room. The toiler pump was broken though, so we had to call for a plumber at midnight. Next day, the we came back from Seaworld and the maids didnt even clean the room, they left us a couple of dry towels hanging on a chair while leaving the wet/dirty towels on the ground and the bed unmade. I called front desk the complain and they said "i apologize, i dont know whats going on today" so they just sent more dry towels, the bed was left unmade.
Friendly staff and ease of location to interstates and Old Town. It was old, not updated in last 15 years. Still had a tube TV. Door opened to parking lot. Daylight coming in under the door. Table in room was all scratched. Did not feel safe. The tub was in very rough shape. Yuck!!! Don't stay here. Needs to be updated!!!!
The room is big and has a lot of space Is too noisy people smoke just outside the room and loves to talk a lot during night time but we get what we pay for
The staff was excellent. Very friendly and helpfull. We had drinks in the bar after we arrivedwhich was right on site. The appetizers were an excellent value and we made dinner out of it. The place is really very dated. The biggest issue we had was that the room was very dirty. Hair all over the vanity top and dirt on the other table tops. It was really gross and becuase of, and only because of, thta my wife says she will not come back. It's to nad because all of the other aspect of this location make it a real bargin.
The word resort has nothing to do with this Hotel ! Dirty rooms, Toilet NOT working, Customer service Worst ever ! I will never book with "Hotel" or You guys kayak first and Last ! Thanks BUT NO thanks
3 blocks from coaster, very comfortable, free shuttle to the airport, beds are fantastic They nickel and dime you for in-room wifi (seriously?)
Good value for you money. Very clean. Good facilities. Bed too soft, it is like it is just made entirely of pillow. I had some maintenance issues in my room, which they fixed, but they wanted me to move instead.
the bed was very comfortable. The restaurants and lounge were enjoyable.
Loved the staff. The woman at the front desk was super friendly and nice and her alone would make me want to come back and enjoy the Westin again!
The amazing view, the helpful and friendly staff, and the amazing deal!
Not all staff was friendly, room wasn't thoroughly cleaned one day and Cafe and restaurants only open till 1pm. Also some staff gave poor directions as to how to get to places.
I was very satisfied, was even able to check in hours ahead of schedule and was upgraded to a better room. The location is fantastic as well as the view, staff was attentive and courteous, definitely recommend this place.
Good location, nice staff, rooms are clean, bed is VERY comfortable. The hotel feels tired. Decor, common areas feel like they haven't been touched in decades. The neighborhood is even worse, though. You literally have to walk around homeless people to get to business meetings. After sundown, there's no one on foot except homeless people. The hotel attracts a lot of airline crews. Not sure what to make of that.
this Hotel is on nice area, walk distance to Midway museum & seaport Village, very convenience & we will definitely come back again for vacation!
Rooms were good size with a nice view. Big screen TV. Downtown location near to attractions. Didn't sleep well because the mattress was a bit lumpy. Gave me a backache. The breakfast menu is pricey. $44/day for parking. Hotel like Westin should have free parking available for guests.
Clean friendly $44 parking cost and one way streets with only two valets
Great location, clean hotel, GREAT bed. Best sleep I've had in a while. Bathroom was nothing to write home about and parking is a bit expensive
Conviently located and though it iis next to hwy our room was quiet, beds amazingly comfortable from the bedding to the mattress. The hotel staff in all.areas ie registration, restaurant, service help were all friendly and helpful. The hotel amenities such as pool and gym are also very clean.
Great bar and dining staff! Parking is not ideal and excessive costs!
The moment you walk in it smells so amazing like really clean and has a great atmosphere. The staff is friendly and everything is so nice and modern. The room was a perfect amount of space for 4 and it had everything stocked. Parking is in a garage right next to the building and you feel very comfortable and safe. Will definitely be returning soon! :)
My boyfriend and I loved everything! The bed was comfortable, the room was spacious enough, the room service food was delicious. The internet never gave us any trouble. The pool was salt-water instead or chlorine and was a very comfortable temperature. The service from the employees was spot on, as well. We kept interacting with the same man at the front desk, and he was extremely helpful. The one thing that I didn't like was the hot tub: the water was just a smidge too hot for my comfort, BUT I was able to adjust to it after a few minutes. That's more of a personal preference kind of thing, I know plenty of people probably like a hot tub to be exactly that temperature or even hotter, so it's not really a complaint.
The front desk was professional and courteous. Valet service needs customer service training. We waited outside in our car when we arrived at the hotel and no one came. I went inside to locate a person in the valet section who was very relaxed and not very friendly. The pillows in the rooms are too small and uncomfortable. First night in our room a drunkard was knocking on our door after midnight. Next night girls were running up and down the hall at midnight. We were traveling with an 8 month old so we would not recommend the hotel to families with young children.
NOTHING! By far the worst hotel experience I've ever had. Weeks in advance I pre paid for two non refundable rooms, which were guaranteed by Kayak. I arrived and they only had one room and they oversold the hotel. I let my parents take the one room and the girl at the front desk seriously told my wife and I to sleep in our car. They then fought to keep all the money for the room and made up a lie about offering me a room at another hotel. This never happened. "Casa de rental car" doesn't count as a hotel room - I've never been more angry or offended by a hotel in my entire life. Complete snake oil salesmen. Don't go here after you paid for two rooms weeks in advance if you plan on sleeping in them - only pay if you want to be seriously instructed that they're sorry, even though you paid for two rooms they do t have any more and you're welcome to sleep in your rental car - but still pay them! I plan on filing a claim with the BBB for their fraudulent actions, along with a dispute on my American Express and I'd love to know how kayak will handle this.
The room and bed return my depositl Return of deposit
Staff didn't follow through on some very basic requests, like putting a bill under my door or moving an illegally parked bus so that guests could get to the parking garage.
Staff was very nice, welcoming and helpful. Location is great, in the center of mission valley. There was a bug in our room but they sent someone to clean our room while we were gone. They asked kids to leave pool area at 11pm but let us stay a bit longer which was nice since kids were a bit loud. Comfortable bed. A bug in our room. Parking = $$$.
Under construction. Noise is unacceptable. Parking is a mess.
For the money that we spend to stay at the hotel, I felt the $10/day fee to use the work out facility was unwarranted. Not only that, the US is the heaviest country in the world and yet our upper scale hotels feel the need to charge for their workout facility. Their competitors do not charge to work out
Stayed in coronado bay view room -- nice view, and quiet/relaxing at night. Pools not crowded. Hairy bathrobes left in closet from prior guest; multiple calls to get new robes, and dirty robes not removed (we ended up leaving them outside in the hall). Tiny/claustrophobic shower. Location is ok, but you have to drive to get to a decent beach. Probably not worth $300+/night. Will try the Del next time.
Front desk did not have my reservation. Good thing I had my 3 page printed confirmation in the car.
We were on out 19th wedding anniversary celebration and we wanted to get away from the city, so decided to go local. Just on the other side of the Coronado bridge we found this nice secluded resort property right on the water. When we checked in, a wonderful receptionist upgraded our room to a suite and we were literally right in front of the bay with a gorgeous view of the city and the bay. Room and the badgering were very spacious in the grand view suite. Extra large tub was very nice. Bed was super comfortable. Resort is pretty spread out, so it didn't feel crowded even in the middle of the Summer. We will bring our whole family here next time. Breakfast buffet at Market cafe wasn't that great for $25 per person. Also $29 for self parking. For the money they charged for the room that should be included. Pool area isn't all that grand. Adequate though.
Size of the room, view from the room, the spa and the courtesy of the staff
The staff was very friendly! We loved the shuttle into town and to the beach, great perk! Breakfast from The Market was pretty good and came out quickly. Beds were comfortable. Every room has a balcony which is awesome! We had a couples massage at Sea Spa, I had Nancy who I highly recommend! Our TV was broken, which they replaced and credited us a free movie. Bathroom and room in general was a little dirty; looked like something had spilled on the tv stand and wasn't cleaned, hairs in bathroom and in sink. Our view was basically of other balconies and the side parking lot, which was a bummer with paying so much to stay there. The Sea Spa area seemed a little run down. I feel it wasn't worth the money- it was more of a 3.5 star experience when I was expecting a 5 star from Loews.
Our check in was very late
Quick check in
The staff were so helpful and willing to accommodate us! We arrived around 10 am because of an early flight and they checked us in at that time which was great since we had a wedding to attend in the afternoon! Everyone was very friendly and pleasant. Unfortunately the pool was closed while we were there for renovation.
Definitely enjoyed the room, fit for two couples. Super comfortable and great ambiance. The pool was the best part even though I didn't get to swim in it cause I was too busy sleeping on the hammock. This hotel was so close to all the main places we wanted to go, only about 10-15 mins to Gaslamp, not too far from beaches and surrounded by great restaurants which is mainly all we did!
The lemonade on arrival was very nice and the movie screening at the pool was awesome.
Front desk gave me free wifi The heater turned cold in the evening. I was sick the following 3 days.
The room is very nice and modern. The front desk staff were very nice. The shampoo and conditioner they provide smell amazing. And the fitness center was very nice. The glass shower in the middle of the room is just plain weird. There are not a lot of people I want to see shower. It just feels intimate in a very out-of-place kind of way. My friend and I went out for the evening and came back for an nightcap at the bar. Much to our disappointment, they did 'last call' early, so we missed out on a final drink. It feels like a new hotel needs to create some consistency if it hopes to catch on. The hotel seems very focused on the pool and making the 'pool scene' a thing. The cabanas, the artfully arranged pillows, the champagne buckets. It felt like they were trying too hard to woo locals, as opposed to cater to hotel guests. And there were a lot of staff standing around talking to each other whenever I was in the lobby or at the front desk. I often felt like I, as the guest, was interrupting their work. :)
