Cons:Had to wait over 1.5 hours to pick up car. Never again Payless.
Pros:Alex at check in was super friendly and made check in super easy

Cons:My online reservations for 8 days shows a total price of $505.87. When I went to pick up I see a total of $720.25. I called and ask if I can cancel since I found a cheaper deal elsewhere. I was told to just bring the car back and they will credit me when I drop off the car. I was charged $421.11 for just one day of the rental. On top of that, I spent over 6 hrs at their office on those two days at their Kona office. The line was out the door under the hot sun. They could have easily organized the line so it would bend inside so more people can fit and have AC. The attendants were primarily old white ladies who worked very slow. 6 available people but only 3 were working. They tried to upsale me when I went to pick up the car and were quite persistent too. I am a patient man, but they were really testing me to my limits when the lady I worked with went on break and I had to wait for another attendant to help me. That was almost an hr wait. I will not rent from them again.
Pros:Ended up driving 2 nice cars during my week in Hawaii. Both were well appointed and comfortable.
Cons:The first was very nice, but was infested with bugs (due to the environment, not the car or people) and I had to turn it in for a different one. The second was said to be an upgrade, but was not as well appointed, had less power, and wasn't as comfortable, however it was still nice. I was told I would be discounted a day for the inconvenience, but that was not reflected on my bill. When booking, I repeatedly changed the turn in time to 9 pm, but I was still charged a late fee when I dropped it off... at 9 pm.
Cons:Would have preferred the car we reserved and not the free "upgrade." The Jeep Compass made a sound like the wheel bearings were about to blow. The rental agent said it was normal. For a Jeep Compass. Maybe he was right.
Cons:The shuttle to pick up the car was very slow. The driver was nice but overwhelmed. He was throwing the luggage in and broke the lock on my bag. The passenger seat had gum stuck on it. Coming back the shuttle was prompt.
Cons:1 hour 15 mins standing in line... BS
Pros:Staff was nice and helpful
Cons:The cost of the rental reported by Payless was less than what we paid Priceline.
