Abbeyglen Cottage - Swords

9.8 Excellent (228 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bernadette and Andrew were incredibly sweet and very welcoming. They thought of everything and were very accommodating. Strongly recommend if you like that personal experience and having a place that doesn’t feel so much like a hotel. We sure did!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts provide such amazing personal attention from check-in to a customized breakfast in the morning. Room was clean and comfortable. Great location, only a few minutes from the airport and close to a great pub and shopping center. Will stay here anytime we're in Dublin!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is very convenient for the Dublin airport and easily walkable to village of Swords. Hosts were very welcoming and gave us valuable information about the surrounding area and suggestions for restaurants and pubs. Accomodations were very nice and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. We needed to leave prior to the usual breakfast time and the hosts agreed to serve us early. Highly recommend!!

7.5 Good
Pros: Loved everything and had my own wee room with breakfast waiting which was ideal as needed to leave at 6:45am. Beautiful room and with a visit from the black lab which I'm always happy to see dogs. What a beautiful cottage. They are very considerate by asking all residents to be quiet for each other and this is stated everywhere.
Cons: Unfortunately, the person staying above me wasn't as considerate and quashed my pleasant stay with the amount of noise that they made, it was constant, I only wish I had remembered to bring my noise cancelling headphones to dull out their noise. This is not any fault of the cottage just individuals who don't understand courtesy that when you are above a room to be considerate, it's not hard, but sadly selfish, thoughtless people exist and this isn't ideal when I'm not sleeping particularly well due to being pregnant and trying not to be hormonal and money.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely little place, tucked away down a little lane. Perfect for a short trip to Dublin. Tastefully decorated. Lovely rooms and a warm welcome. We only stayed for the first night of our tour of Ireland, but what a lovely place to start it!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place to stay, great facilities and lovely little extras with the snacks on arrival. Breakfast was cool in the walk in cupboard and we were lucky enough the weather was nice and we could sit outside. Was our second time we stayed, first time it was for my dad’s birthday and they went over and above to have lovely decorations in the room on arrival and a box of chocolates. Would definitely stay again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location for me was great - 10 min drive away from where I was working and 5 mins away from a shopping centre which has places to eat. Continental Breakfast was all ready in my room on arrival - such a great idea doing it that way! and plenty of options as well.
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We LOVED the facilities. The owners took care to think of everything we could have needed. The continental breakfast included was amazing! The bed was comfortable. Quiet and cozy. Close to the airport too. The owners were easy to work with and very responsive. We were thrilled with our experience and would highly recommend them.
Cons: The only thing we weren't thrilled about was the hour bus ride to city centre or €32 taxi ride (25 minutes).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I booked this stay as a need to stay somewhere last year (In 2017) but quickly changed my view when I saw how amazing this cottage is! My friend and I were greeted immediately and before talking Business was offered tea, coffee, or champagne. After receiving the tea, he sat down with us and outlined all the restaurants and bars in the area to try and ones to stay away from since it was a holiday. On top of the holiday there was a rugby match going on so it would have been hard to find a place to sit down and eat or have a beer. I was very satisfied with my service and given the opportunity to stay in Dublin again I would choose this in a heartbeat. Thank you rose cottage!!!
Cons: There was nothing in control of the cottage that was in satisfied with the weather is another comment.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place was adorable and spotless They had fresh danishes yogurt oatmeal and bread with Nutella as well as fresh fruit in our room for breakfast the next morning I definitely recommend this rental Awesome
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Our host, Dan, exlemplified the term. This was our first day in Ireland, and we felt utterly lost. Dan reached out to us before our plane even left home, asking when he might expect us. We had an email dialog that helped us use the public transportation system to reach the B&B. He let us drop our luggage off and explore Dublin while waiting for check-in time, then showed us the best bus routes to take. In the morning, he cooked up a great Irish breakfast for us to get our day started. About the bed, we took it for granted. It was a nice, comfortable mattress, which we wished we had for the next two weeks. It seems comfortable beds are not common in Europe and the UK, so it was a real luxury to have had our first night after a full day of travel at Rose Cottage.
Cons: It is a bit outside of Dublin center, so the bus ride takes about an hour...if there is not a hurling match happening.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet, convenient location. 10 minute drive to the airport. Beautiful decor! The breakfast was amazing. The owner was very kind and helpful. Very clean, comfortable bed. Cute little patio space in the back that I truly enjoyed. We really loved it here!
Cons: There was nothing to dislike.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Dan greeted us the first night and really set a positive vibe as he was so friendly and helpful with Pub options. Rose Cottage was first class all the way. The continental Breakfast that is left in your room each evening is an exceptional idea. Great selection of fruit, cereal and pastries. Coffee in french press was excellent.Kettle for tea was a hit with Connie. This style of breakfast was so helpful in allowing us to eat according to our schedule. Fantastic idea !! Finally, proximity and access to airport is literally a 10 min drive and is so easy to find. Superb B&B, Thanks John snd Connie Ottawa Canada
Cons: Was a little tricky to find. Possibly include in email instructions that you take a left at both round abouts at far end of the park. Other than that , exceptional !!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is fantastic! Stunning interior design, great kitchenette well stocked with fresh juice, milk and fruit, and the bathrooms were immaculate and gorgeous... Best place we stayed in our 6 weeks in Ireland, hands down.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rose Cottage was perfect for our overnight stay before flying out of Dublin the next morning. The location is outstanding – 10 minutes to the Dublin Airport (which accommodates early departures)! Dominika was extremely welcoming and helpful. She had provided very detailed directions to help us find the cottage … (a blessing in itself). Rose Cottage is a hidden jewel ….quiet, convenient, and updated beautiful decor!

Pros: Beautiful location and host was great. We had an early flight out, so she really took care of us since we missed out on breakfast. Would have loved to have spent more time there. Our next trip to the Dublin area, we will be back.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly proprietors. Excelent and plentiful breakfast.?
Cons: ?? All good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Jimmy and Mary, who run Evergreen Bed & Breakfast, are extremely personable and helped us with going into Dublin to walk around, getting back to the Airport for our return flight the next day, and replacing a tire on our vehicle. This B&B is very close to the Dublin Airport. Jimmy brought us an unexpected glass of wine and a glass of Irish whiskey when we returned from an afternoon visit to Dublin while Mary tried to help me with my back problem with some lotion, a pot of coffee and a muffin when we first arrived at the B&B. The Irish breakfasts were excellent.
Cons: We could have had more playtime with Inde (Indiana) their border collie - really cool dog!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mary and Jimmy were wonderful hosts. The breakfasts were great with plenty of choice. Mary packed a breakfast for us on our last day as we were leaving early - we enjoyed this on the ferry. The room was clean and comfortable and the patio outside, in the lovely garden, was relaxing to sit in the sun. Would highly recommend this B and B.
Cons: Loved the whole stay.

Pros: Olive is a wonderful hostess. We were greeted warmly on arrival & taken to our room. It was comfortable and cozy in a very quiet neighborhood. The breakfast was excellent with a good selection of options. When we left for the airport we were given directions that kept us away from early morning commuter traffic & that was a welcome time saver.
Cons: No complaints but visitors should be prepared to travel to town for meals, scenery, and events. The location, however, is only a quick drive to Malahide Castle.

5.5 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was OK - but for this hotel, we expected a better breakfast
Cons: Staff in bars were generally poor - not friendly or efficient
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location right on the beach and the quietness were the two main things we really appreciated the most.
Cons: Nothing
7.0 Good
Pros: Very smart in communal areas, great meal and drinks in the bar. If in the area again, we would stay here again.
Cons: Room smart but it did not have any air conditioning … and it was hot during our stay. I would have expected AC at the price we paid.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great room with lovely view, very nice bathroom, breakfast, location on the beach.
Cons: The staff, especially at reception, did not seem fully committed to the hotel's customers and they seemed somewhat disengaged. I was most disappointed that one of them told me that the Seaview restaurant was only for adults or kids over 12, but then I spotted kids in the restaurant at lunchtime. I would have loved having lunch there rather then at the bar. The lady at the breakfast reception, however, was very kind.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Property very good
Cons: Just like
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice golf course and beautiful sea view. Jameson Bar is great with typical Irish food. Nice staffs, friendly and helpful.
Cons: I booked 3 months in advance. But it was a pity couldn’t get a sea view suite. The breakfast was standard. Everyday the food was same. It was a little boring if you stay long.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Clean and quiet rooms
Cons: All good
8.3 Excellent
Pros: On the ocean, was beautiful! Quiet for sleeping.
Cons: No A/C in our room, which was a junior suite.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and Dinner in the Jameson bar was a delight. Staff lovely and helpful. Bath and shower lovely
Cons: Rooms are probably in need of an upgrade but this is real nitpicking as we loved the hotel.
6.5 Good
Pros: This resort is situated on a spectacular property with unparalleled views. Our room was nicely appointees, very clean and quiet even though there were a couple of major events. Upon arrival the person at reception was snobby and did not even offer to have our bags brought up to the room and honestly acted as if he was doing us a favor by checking us in. We had traveled from Killarney and were dressed very casually and it was apparent that we were very under-dressed--not a place to stay if you want to be casual and laid back. The staff, especially, Emma, at the restaurant where we sat for a drink, was courteous and very friendly. We ordered room service and to be frank the food was awful--cold and just not good. Beautiful spot but with room for improvement.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Gentleman on reception on check in on Saturday 27th July'19 about 7;30pm very friendly and helpful and same guy again on Sunday Morning very helpful even after long shift it would appear!!
Cons: Breakfast needs more that one staff member on or else more training so staff member although very friendly was making a lot of extra work for herself by just taking one order at a time when perhaps she could take a few orders at once to kitchen!! However she was very friendly but if you were in a hurry to go to airport or such it would have put pressure on you as service was slow and would spoil your enjoyment of breakfast. Not the servers fault but just needs guidance how to serve more than one table at a time.....

Cons: Lot of money for a tiny room.
6.3 Good
Pros: It was convenient to the hospital
Cons: It wasn’t value for money
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Was disappointed that breakfast was not served before 8.45. The location was good.
Cons: Was disappointed that breakfast was not served before 8.45 as we had to catch an early flight.
6.3 Good
Pros: I liked the bathroom, comfortable and with everything, and the towel warmer was a real treat. I liked that the bedroom had everything in terms of appliances, hair dryer, iron, etc. I loved the common room downstairs with the assigned fridge and the stoves, it would have been very convenient if I would I stayed longer.
Cons: The bed didn't have a fitted sheet, only one flat sheet to lay on top and the comforter to cover up. the sheet moved during the night, and there was no way to cover myself with something light when it got warm in the middle of the night. There no A/C either to solve the problem. But the part that I thought was the worst was the food, the pasta carbonara I had for dinner was very heavy creamed and heavy and the breakfast, which I was very excited about with when I read it, ended being very sad looking, overcooked and cold.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was absolutely outstanding, and the bar and restaurant are beautiful.
Cons: The room was clean though a little small.
7.0 Good
Pros: It was near Beaumont Hospital
Cons: We got a chicken curry that evening and it was discussing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: There was high noise in morning as some vans where off loading for the Bar downstairs early in morning.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Crisp & clean☺️ Was wonderful that my suitcase was taken upstairs to my bedroom upon check in (left it earlier at reception, as I arrived before check in)
Cons: Missed that I couldn’t make coffee in my bedroom , especially because I had to leave before breakfast time
5.5 Okay
Pros: It was convenient for airport
Cons: Unlike every other hotel/b&b I have ever stayed at, the breakfast choice was one item from the breakfast menu. So you couldn’t have cereal or fruit and then a full Irish, you could only have the full Irish or a bowl of porridge for example.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Paddy was an amazing staff member. He went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and schedule a taxi for airport pickup. The breakfast (included) was insanely delicious. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would return.

7.5 Good
Pros: The host was very kind, helpful and accommodating. She let us do a very late check-in (1 AM). Gave us good tips on getting around Dublin. Great location. close proximity to the train station. Breakfast was limited continental - bread, jam, cereal, oats, milk and tea. Nice, spacious and clean bathroom.
Cons: We were a party of 7 and felt the room was a bit crammed with 6 beds, a bunk bed and just one bathroom (one could imagine a busy morning). There was not enough space for us to open our luggage to get things out which was a bit uncomfortable. The air circulation was poor leading to sweaty nights. The room could use some standalone fans and ventilation.

4.5 Okay
Pros: They have a large party room on the 3rd floor where our rooms were. There was a large boisterous party with music well into the late hours. Fights broke out. The staff refused to intervene to quiet the noise. There should not be a facility like this on a floor with people trying to get some rest. What idiot came up with this facility?
Cons: This is at best a 3 star hotel but the inclusion of large parties makes it a place to avoid.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Staff were very helpful and friendly. I somehow managed to have a really bad reaction to something I'd eaten when we were out for dinner and the receptionist called me and ambulance! Next morning the managers that had been on the night before asked me how I was etc. Thankfully didn't need hospital but the staff tried to look after me before the ambulance arrived.
Cons: Really wasn't worth €240, more like €140. Our room view was of the air conditioning units and fire escape and bathroom pretty dated despite being located in the "executive wing". Decor in the room was a bit bland and boring.

5.5 Okay
Pros: Good view over the golf course from the room. Good performance by the lounge singer/muscian, but the volume needed turning down.
Cons: Given 3 different times for Pool closing. Very poor menu and wine selection in the Restaurant. Rooms very dated. Shower curtain not fixed properly. Very disappointing Tea & Coffee tray - very basic. Night manager replaced our room keys after we midlaid one without checking who we were. Barely a 3 Star - definitely not 4 Star.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Hotel is very nice with the the amentities of a golf course hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful and the room was very nice and well maintained. We had a room with two beds that were more than adequate for our needs. I think this is a good value hotel and it is convenient to the airport without being too close.
Cons: The only thing I did not like about the hotel was the entrance to the hotel. There is no good way to turn your car around to head back to the parking lot. After you get back in your car you are pointing to the back of the hotel and it is very poorly designed as there is no good way to head towards to parking lot.

Pros: I really appreciated the accommodation the staff made to help with my early departure on July 7 and my late arrival on July 20. It was great to meet some of the Brothers. I will certainly recommend it to friends who might be looking for a good retreat center or B and B. Brother George Schmitz, CSC
6.3 Good
Pros: The property was not far from the airport, approximately 15 minutes; but you would have to have a car or take a taxi. It would have been a long walk to public transportation. The property is best described as a group of connected two-story buildings with individual dorm-like rooms that are used to house religious and other types of retreats in a remote setting. The grounds were well-maintained and the whole atmosphere was very serene and quiet.
Cons: The front desk closes at 9 pm. which is not convenient for late travelers. However, we called ahead that our flight was delayed and we might be arriving at 9:30, and a nice lady called me back said they would stay a little later to accommodate us since I had prepaid for our room and could not get the money back. Fortunately we arrived right at 9 pm. so the front desk lady was still there (her ride pulled up when we did). It was difficult to get in; there is an arm crossing both entrances to the property. I lost one of earrings in their room, and I called as soon as I noticed it missing; and the man who answered the phone was not very kind. He did say he would ask around. When I called back for results, he was rude and said that the maids looked and did not find it. He was quick to accuse of leaving the room "dirty" so I know that he looked in our room for my earring before the maids had cleaned it; and he did not even look very well, or it might have been found. I had managed to keep up with both earrings since I had bought them in Italy over 20 years ago, so they were valuable to me. I had taken a short video of the room as I was getting dressed; saw that I did not have on both earrings; and noticed the room was in the same condition we found it, except we had left our towels on the floor under the sink in the bathroom so they would know that we had used them and wash them for the next person. We did not eat nor drink in the room, so it was hardly "dirty." However, when we arrived in our room, it did have an unusual odor like some cheap, old-man's after-shave lotion. We could not removed the smell because the windows barely opened and there wasn't any central air conditioning nor fan to circulate or push the odor out.

6.3 Good
Pros: Convenient near the airport for early flights
Cons: Room could use better maintenance and a refresh (ventilation not working in bathroom and door completely eaten by humidity)
7.5 Good
Pros: The room was very comfortable with a small seating area. The shower in the bathtub was not safe, it had a half Plexiglas door that was stationary, the water came out onto the floor each time that we took a shower. there was no bar to hold onto getting out of the shower which made it very dangerous. We really liked the Lobby and the Restaurant.
Cons: Please see above re Shower.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the location which is in the heart of Swords. Also everyone was very friendly, helpful and considerate. Overnight off-site parking was inexpensive in the outdoor lot near the hotel (Forster Way Car Park). We had a very nice dinner in the pub and a refreshing and comfortable stay our night there.
Cons: Everything was fine!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was just what you would expect. A perfectly acceptable basic room with a kettle and coffee/tea. The bathroom was spacious enough to be comfortable and the shower was fine. There was no aircon but a fan was provided that did the job well. It was in the middle of the main street and therefore handy to buses. Only 30 minutes to Dublin City. There was a large shopping complex in walking distance. The hotel meals were nice and not expensive. It was close to the airport for our early morning flight out.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Bed was great and very comfortable Rooms are not that big but everything you need Staff were great
Cons: 3 stations on TV Could be more
5.5 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Our room was very hot and when you opened the windows to let in some air cigarette smoke came in. Our room was situated over a smoking courtyard from the same hotel/pub and all the cigarette smoke came in the window into our room. Cannot understand how on earth you can have a smoking courtyard underneath hotel rooms fro non smokers. Hotel is on the main st which is very central however they could not help with any parking for guests. we had to pay meter parking until the net day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean and peaceful - far, far nicer than what I had expected to get for the price I paid - and the staff were exceedingly nice! The pub downstairs had a very friendly atmosphere, too.
Cons: I wish my stay had been longer!
