Pros: Location.Staff were very helpful. Breakfast choices were well thought out. Step in shower was nice. The bed was very comfortable but pillows were lacking.

Pros: From driving up it was a very nice appearance. The bed was very comfortable and everything was extremely up to date. Breakfast was good and well taken care of (if there was a mess the employees were very prompt to clean it up). Shower had lots of pressure. Not the kind to take your skin but just right. I would stay here again if I’m in the area.
Cons: We checked into our room to find they had the heat on at 78 on a hot day. May want to check the rooms befor guest check in. Was no problem though turned down to 70 and cooled down fast. I always complain about the college fridge but it kind of did it’s job. May want to put caulking or seals around all the glass for the shower. When we took showers it leaked out to the bathroom floor.

Pros: The hotel was very clean and comfortable. They gave us plenty of towels and pillows. The room was spacious and we had a beautiful Mountain View from our window. We didn’t make it out to the pool but we know they keep it well maintained because we saw them refilling and cleaning the pool the night after it rained. It was a busy weekend because there were two separate weddings going on that weekend so the parking lot was completly full but the front desk worker actually went out to move her own car for a costumer to park in the space she had taken.

Pros: Friendly staff, good breakfast

6.8 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Cold water in the shower. Pillows were horrible
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel itself was very nice inside, rooms very modern and very clean.
Cons: I requested a first floor room is possible when I booked the room online. I was NOT going to be upset if they don't have one available. I just prefer first floor. Before I checked in, I received an email saying they could honor my request. Great. I get to the hotel, check in and they put me on the third floor. I asked if there were any first floor rooms available because I had gotten a written confirmation saying there was. The front desk employee's attitude changed quickly as if I had requested the impossible and wouldn't honor it.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very nice Motel. Staff was friendly. Location was good for us.
Cons: Parking eas somewhat limited, but we we not affected by it. We enjoyed our stay and will return again.

Pros: The whole experience was nice from letting us check in early because we arrived early, to being able to get some of the complimentary breakfast be for we went to the college we were visiting Roanoke college.
Cons: I didn't really have any complaints really.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: So friendly at check-in. Some construction/renovation still going on, but didn't interfere with the experience. Had coffee by the pool in the morning: beautiful spot, friendly and gracious employee.
Cons: I liked everything. Too bad the terrace was still undergoing renovations, it would have been pleasant to sit out there. I will recommend this hotel to everyone who comes to stay in Salem.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super cute and lovely staff!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was exceptional and the hotel was immaculate. Loved the pool.
Cons: Nothing I can think of.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: staff
Cons: Just that I was given the handicapped room.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The overall room, service and breakfast
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: I had a nice King room. The sitting area/ living room perhaps you could call it had a pull out couch that I was able to turn in another whole room for my son. My son and husband each had their own tv available. March Madness was still taking place, so that was an A+ for me. I seen other reviews which talked about the construction that’s taking place, which gave me mixed emotions until I arrived at the property. The construction does not interfere with guests at all. The parking lot was sort of small but I managed to go out a couple of times and returned to a space to park. If I’m in the area I would stay at the property again.
Cons: If room service could do a double check after cleaning just to make sure everything is spot free. The bathroom had a few strings of hair in the shower and the sink.

Pros: The room was very clean and beds comfortable. Breakfast was ample and delicious. Pool and jacuzzi were clean.

Cons: The hot tub was green. The dirtiest hot tub I have ever seen.
5.5 Okay
Pros: The size of room and cleaning staff was nice
Cons: The front desk and breakfast staff were rude. Never a please or thank you. They ran out of food before 10 on most days. If they were out of something it was gone. They had softball teams there and they knew it and didn’t prepare for it.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I am trying to get number to call and give info over the phone. I booked the room again and would love 315 again. I didn't like it when they gave my first room away. We will be staying there instead of me driving up the same day.to V A Hospital. I would like 3rd floor and in room 315. Will may have to stay at least 1-2 x's a month. Any discounts on VA disabled veterans?
Cons: The pool to be heated cause that water is cold even if it's 90 degrees outside. Cold when I like to swim after your last meal of the day. Swim time is better. I am an old fart.lol

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Large room. Pool open late.
Cons: One outside front door broke. Only operating ice machine on 3rd floor. Very low toilet.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was okay except the same hot food was served 2 days in a row. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel was quiet at night. Bath towels were new. I was able to book an extra night because we wanted to stay in the area another night.
Cons: There weren't any rooms with bathroom fans. There wasn't any dresser drawers to put our clothes in for a 4 night stay. The closet door was broken and the shower pipe had a hole around it where it came out of the wall, in the first room we were assigned. I asked to be moved to a different room. While it wasn't a problem to be moved, the 2nd room didn't even have a closet door. There wasn't any mirror other than the bathroom one. At least 4 electrical outlets didn't work( 2 on the desk attached to a plug/USB port box) and 2 wall plugs didn't work either. Good thing we had our own power strip with multiple plugs on it to charge our devices on!! The tv was horrible. A big flat screen with many channels that didn't work (the ones listed in the information book in the room. The tv guide feature on the remote only showed blank information on the screen. Definitely wasn't a Hi Def tv. Lastly, on our 3rd night, a room 3 doors down the hall was actually deep frying food in their room. It smelled up the hallway and our room. I tried to call the front desk and it rang several times, so I went to speak with someone moments later. Upon arriving at the front desk there was an employee in the back office with no other customers present. I inquired about the cooking in that other room and she said they do allow people who are "longstays" to cook in thier rooms as they don't always like to go out to eat. I had to place towels at the base of the door to reduce the odor entering our room. Very annoying!!! I didn't know that the pool and hot tub weren't open for the season yet. This is one thing we really wanted to use and I am not up on the "seasonal opening" dates for these in the south as we are from Michigan.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was on par with other hotels I've stayed at. My room was very clean and well stocked with towels and such which I greatly appreciate.
Cons: The only problem/inconvenience I experienced was the door to my room was difficult to open. The attendant said something about the locking mechanism being old.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was quiet, clean, modern and comfy! Was surprised at how roomy my room was, and I LOVED the rubber ducky on the folded towels hanging on the edge of the tub! The desk clerk walked a spoon to my room when I called to ask if they had any plastic spoons.
Cons: I can’t think of a thing!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Huge very clean room
Cons: Hot tub was not working
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was close to the place we came to visit. It was centrally located to several nice restaurants.
Cons: We were on first floor. Chairs were place outside the room windows. We were woken up Sunday & Monday morning around 7am by people sitting in the chairs & talking. The chairs should be closer to the pool & away from room windows
9.3 Excellent
Cons: Hotel was being renovated on my floor. Initially disconcerting but my room was fine once inside it.
6.3 Good
Pros: The proximity to Lewis Gale Hospital and physicians is why we choose this place. Jersey Lillys over the hill is great restaurant.
Cons: Stayed here many times and was not as clean this time. Could not tell if hallways are dirty or stained.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Pretty much everything. It's quiet, well-run, large rooms.
Cons: TV, while good quality, is a bit on the small side. They've switched to dispensers rather than packets of shampoo and conditioner. Which is fine, except the housekeepers can't tell when a dispenser is empty. So first shower ran out of conditioner...

Pros: Pet friendly and they provided free poop bags. Pool was small, but nice. Coffee was good and available 24/7. Good lighting in parking lot. Micro wave and refrigerator in room. Lots of TV channels.
Cons: Well, it's hard to turn left out onto the highway. Needs a traffic light. Lots of contractors drinking beer in parking lot at night. Worried my wife. A/C very noisy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was new and very clean and easy access to rte 81
Cons: We were satisfied with everything.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast choices; decor is new/recently renovated; bright, clean and cheery. Smells good.
Cons: The desk chair wouldn’t rise up so I could work comfortably at the desk. There was no TV GUIDE; even the channel guide on the TV did not have info about each channel, we had to scroll through each channel to see what was on or to find a specific station. There were no pay per view channels.
6.0 Good
Pros: The location was close to the highway with easy off and on. The staff was pleasant and recommended a nice place for dinner (even though there were relatively few options nearby). They appear to renovating the entire hotel inside and out... which is good
Cons: It's a little plain. No pictures on the walls, vinyl floors in the hall and bath. No tile in the shower. No problem, just dull.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice location right off the highway. Many food places in the area. Stayed there with my dog. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Super comfortable bed and very clean room. I would stay there again.
Cons: I liked everything about the room and hotel.

Cons: Not really close to any thing.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very nice!!
Cons: Big noisy trucks parked behind.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I love, love, love that all La Quintas are pet-friendly, with no additional charge. I will always choose a La Quinta (especially when traveling with my dog) for this reason. And I love that, in spite of welcoming pets, they keep the properties very well maintained and clean.
Cons: We actually stayed in this La Quinta twice, both going and returning on a trip to Pennsylvania. Our stay on July 2 was flawless. Our return stay (in the very same room) on July 5 was not quite as perfect, but it wasn't the fault of the hotel. We were on the first floor (which was great for dog-walking) and the people above us STOMPED from their bed to the bathroom over and over. I have no idea what they were doing, but it was loud. Also, our toilet stopped up just as we were about to leave. Neither of those things were the fault of the hotel, but they did detract from our stay just a little bit. I will definitely choose this hotel, in this location, next time we need to stay in Roanoke/Salem.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Staff was super friendly
Cons: Couldn't tell if the eggs were eggs or pancakes. They were obviously a premade patty.

Pros: The continental breakfast was very good. The beds and pillows were comfortable. In my reservation I asked for two rooms adjoining or close, when I arrived they had done as I requested. I was told I had the best two rooms 2nd floor at an end. Room 212 is right on end and 211 next to it. No rooms next to 211. Perfect for quiet nights sleep.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Traveling with a large dog, I appreciate being able to park outside the hotel room. This hotel was very easy to get in and out of and the local area was easy for the dog. The highway was nearby but not so much that you got the noise from it. I would stay here again. The breakfast was great. There was plenty of ice in the ice machine even if the one on the second floor didn't work. No worries!
Cons: It fit my schedule and worked out great. There was nothing that I didn't like.

Cons: Doors on exterior. Lack of good lock. Strange man knocked on door around 7:00pm asking if his wife was in my room. I said definitely not. Next lock on adjoining door rattled. Someone trying to get in. I moved couch to block doors and called front desk.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff was so helpful and they welcomed pets. Not many hotels do that anymore.
Cons: Could have a small gym but that is not must have
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The quality was ok.
Cons: The carpet in the room was not clean. I found trashes below the bed.
7.5 Good
Pros: Good location off Main Highway. 10 minutes from Roanoke. We had two adjoining rooms. First Floor. One room was nice and fine. Good restaurants nearby. So not bad overall. Yes would stay here again.
Cons: Other room smelled of marijuana. What can you do. People like to smoke. The smell just needed air freshener. Most places that say non smoking are never really. Although the pool was separate from building. You had to walk across the parking lot. I would pay more to have a pool closer to the office and rooms
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast good. Room clean. Employees friendly.
Cons: The room had a light outside, probably for security. However the room never was dark. The curtains didn’t keep the light out.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very well kept, attention to detail in cleanliness and upkeep. As nice as new in regard to building maintenance. Also, staff was eager to please, finding a rollaway bed for my family after our late arrival.
Cons: All good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed and pillows were very comfortable and the hot breakfast was a plus!
Cons: The water temperature would fluctuate while showering but wasn't too bad! The coffee was a little on the weak side and I don't drink strong coffee so that tells you about how weak it was!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The bed & pillows!! We ordered a pillow. :-)

Pros: Location
Cons: Staff rude I needed extra towels and the lady at the front desk wanted to know why and gave me a hard time giving me 2 extra towels to use. I also paid for my room online and she charged my credit card for the stay when I already paid for it.

Cons: No complaints!
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Not clean
7.4 Good
Pros: Staff was very friendly. Location was very convenient.
Cons: Access to upper floors is by stairs only. My adult child has problems walking long distances, which includes climbing stairs. If we wanted to change our room to one on the main floor, that would have meant paying more for that. That was an unpleasant surprise. Also, the breakfast is nothing great, (there are, better options nearby though).
6.3 Good
Pros: Bed was comfortable and room was pretty clean.
Cons: Breakfast was sad. Cereal and packaged cinnamon rolls. Very basic hotel. The price was high just for a place to crash. That’s all I’d use this hotel for.

2.5 Mediocre
Cons: Hotel looked better in the pictures. Sink was stopped up and refrigerator was not working
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Liked location for where we were visiting. AC was great in room as days were warm. Well maintained and friendly staff.had computer in lobby for internet access. Breakfast was better than expected and very good.
Cons: Was 2 night stay and no issues on first night. But 2nd night a bug snuck its way in to our room and found the missus. she wasn't happy about it. The channel guide in room did not match up to some of the channels received, but not a big problem.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Sheets were clean. Staff of one was working hard to run front desk clean and maintain breakfast
Cons: A jar of pickles juice was sitting in the refrigerator. Refrigerator was not the cleanest--also needed to be defrosted. Not enough towels
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Stuff was very nice and helpful but young female owner was very ignorant.
Cons: Young female owner is ignorant.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Don’t stay here! Sheets were not clean and used by pervious guest. Wrinkled sheets and dirt and hair in the bed. Absolutely disgusting. The worst place I’ve ever experienced.
Cons: Unsanitary and unhealthy BLACK Mold above beds!!! Rodent trap behind the chair!!! Ceiling leaking in the rain!!!
6.0 Good
Pros: Convenient to Roanoke College...
Cons: The beds are too soft.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff and clean.
Cons: It was a little outdated, but that is to be expected with lower price.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff and clean.
Cons: X
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good, I loved the coffee in the room. Very clean, laid out nicely, parking was tight but it worked. Easy access to stores, highway and downtown; on main road without being loud. Dog friendly and quiet. Easy access to all rooms, parking surrounded entire building, did not have to walk far.
Cons: No light curtain under the darkening curtains, so I could not open during day while I was staying in room. I like sunlight. The mattress was really squishy, especially in the centers of the bed. I had a King. I prefer firmer and it was not a comfortable sleep for me. A/C did not get as cool as a set it at, but it did run all night and had a comforting sound.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Best price I've found in the area for the quality. Definitely going to come back
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Only had coffee as we don't eat breakfast

5.0 Okay
Pros: Nice view, no traffic to speak of.
Cons: Advertised "hot breakfast" was disc shaped reconstituted eggs in a steamer tray. No meat. Nothing else hot unless you toasted bread or soggy frozen waffles. No fruit but a couple of apples. Two cereal choices--raisin bran and fruit loops. Room temp either too cold or too hot. Grubby carpet. Extra money for "upgraded" room. If our room was "upgraded" the others must have been truly awful.
6.8 Good
Pros: They had variety of food.
Cons: The food was cold.

Pros: Location was right off the highway.
Cons: The hotel is going through renovations and there was stuff all over the place (messy). We pulled into the back and there were signs that said Caution Bears in Area, kind of made use feel uneasy due to the fact that it was around 1 in the morning when we checked in.

5.0 Okay
Pros: The room was clean. That was the only good thing I can say about the place. I am surprised that Motel 6 put there name on it.
Cons: There was no battery in the fire alarm in the room. Wanted to charge us $10 for an extra hour in checking out. Very little maintenance was done on the place. Could hardly get the door open it was so stuck. Shower was terrible. Some of the staff were ok but some just were not. The motel has seen better days. I believe that $120usd per night was way out if line.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Right off the Interstate. A/C was wonderful. Bed better than expected. microwave, fridge with freezer box a bonus
4.5 Okay
Pros: It was graduation weekend, so the hotel was still somewhat affordable for a 3 night stay.
Cons: I mean it is a Motel 6... I only expected a clean comfortable room. The room was marginally acceptable, but neither of the TWO rooms I booked were serviced for any of three days. I have never been in a hotel where the bed was not made or fresh towels provided. Unacceptable ... even for Motel 6.

1.0 Poor
Pros: This hotel was terrible and should be 1/2 star
Cons: Showers don't drain. Air conditioners are noisy and barely work. Breakfast was terrible. Hotel has full-time people living there. Broke down cars on cinder blocks in parking lot. Barking dogs in rooms. Look at the inch thick dust above the check-in desk.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast Hospitality
Cons: No lift to upstairs level Aircon noise
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The area for breakfast was nice and clean and a great place to eat.
Cons: The room needed a lot of updates. The bathroom was to small. Needed to be painted. The hotel does not have a lot of restaurants around it but close to drive to them down the road.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We have stayed here many times due to the location. As the hotel gets older, and more and more workmen or others stay because the weekly rate is low, the atmosphere of the place is shifting. Pets stay free so we liked that. Breakfast is adequate. Front lobby and conference rooms still look kept up and clean, but some of the rooms are starting to look pretty shabby.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: the entire experience was terrible. The check in process took way longer than it should have. The ‘key machine’ was down so I couldn’t even get a key. The man at the desk had to walk me to the room and use his master key to let me in. Once we got to the room, he couldn’t get the door open so he went to the next room, opened it, looked it and told me that would be my room instead. Once in the room, it smelled terrible. Wouldn’t stay at here again.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Location and parking was wonderful.
Cons: Room was cleaned but smelled of cigarettes for a non smoking room. Front desk mixed up registrations and called our room numerous times after 10pm looking for someone that had gotten mixed up with our registration
3.3 Mediocre
Cons: Bugs every where dirty teach in the stairs so bad
4.3 Okay
Cons: Broken bed, no creamer for two day, room was dirty and under bed had a sock. Holes in the wall, leaking faucet.
