Overview

Rating

The Mosser is a historic hotel in the heart of San Francisco. Tucked between the amazing shopping of Union Square and the busy Moscone Convention Center area, it retains much of its original good looks and charm but has been modernized to offer travelers all of the most desirable amenities and services. The 1913 hotel is just a short walk to the Powell Street BART station and is also convenient to Chinatown and Fisherman’s Wharf. You can visit the Contemporary Jewish Museum, American Conservatory Theater, and Metreon in seconds and hop a cable car for an unforgettable ride.

Of course, you may find all that you require right on the hotel’s premises. After all, it is home to a world-class recording studio that artists often book along with their room. There is valet parking (for a fee), valet laundry services, free use of the nearby Marriott Spa and Fitness Center, free breakfasts in the Keystone Corner Room (the on-site restaurant), and 24-hour front desk, among other services. Visitors will also want to enjoy a drink or meal at the Keystone to savor its delicious local favorites.

Rooms vary from Deluxe rooms to shared bathrooms. All have interesting views of the gardens or city and include truly stylish décor, iPod docking stations, custom and signature furnishings, and artwork, luxury linens, free Wi-Fi, a sitting area, desk, TV and most offer a private bath (though there are shared bath options).

The Mosser lets guests enjoy old world San Francisco like it was more than 100 years ago and yet places them close to the hustle and bustle and excitement of the modern city.

Guests consistently praised the hotel's excellent location, which is ideal for tourists exploring downtown. While many appreciated the cleanliness of the rooms, the majority expressed concern over the small size of the accommodations and significant noise levels from neighboring rooms and the street. Additionally, several reviews indicate a perception of overpriced services, with some highlighting issues such as unfriendly staff and parking difficulties.

Spotless room and shower in a vintage hotel for a great price. A very short walk to the Warfield - my reason for being there - and an equally short walk from BART, so flying into SFO and getting to the hotel in less than an hour and for $11. Hard to beat!

Pros (+) Value for the money. Clean facilities and comfortable room. Good and reliable Wi-Fi. Central location very accessible by BART and Muni close to shops, tourist attractions and restaurants.
Cons (-) Noise from alley at night or early morning, hotel staff is aware and provides ear plugs in your room but not really helpful. There was a strong smell of weed on my bathroom at night don't know where it was coming from but had to turn on extractor and close bathroom door and turn on ceiling fan and open room door to air out smell.

Pros (+) Overall, it was clean and good downtowns location.
Cons (-) Room had a musty smell and the walls are pretty thin, hence bery noisy- I guess that is why they give you ear plugs.

Pros (+) The location was excellent, the price very affordable, and the staff was very kind. The rooms were very clean and cared for by attentive staff.
Cons (-) The orientation of the bed was awkward, along with the pillows being very uncomfortable which impacted my sleep. The room got uncomfortably hot, but was held in check by an adequate fan. The bathroom was incredibly tiny and awkward.

Pros (+) Very clean rooms staff came everyday and restocked. Staff was nice and friendly.
Cons (-) No bathroom or shower in your room. No sink in the bathroom in the hallway. You have to wash your hands in your room which is kinda gross touching handles. We didn't know that before we stayed. And room are no bigger then 7 feet by 7 feet. Clean but so small. And breakfast is literally a muffin. With nothing else in your room even a fridge I would have liked a breakfast.

Pros (+) Great location near Downtown BART stations and Moscone Center.
Cons (-) The room that I had this time had the sink located outside of the bathroom, near the bed and desk.
