The rental location was extremely hard to find. The car was not available at our reservation time, so we waited 3 hours to pick it up. We were assured that the car had wi-fi, but it did not. The GPS system was mediocre and in French. Turning the car in was extremely difficult with no staff person at the garage. In summary, the worst car rental experience I have ever experienced!!!

Had to wait 20 min for a Bidget shuttle while 7 (yes seven) shuttles for Alamo, Enterprise and almost every other rental car passed by. When we got to the rental car building the line to rent wrapped clear around the building. Serious 75 yard long line. It was unbelievable, the longest I’ve ever seen for a rental co. And it moved at a snails pace. Hours. Absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable

Everything good except for the 1 1/2 hour wait for picking up the car it was ridiculous it was like 3:00 am also dropping off was annoying hassle you need more employees if your going to have over 40 people waiting on line with only 1 employee

Terrible. Was unable to pick up car under l reservation bc I used a virtual Credit card and couldn’t present that same card physically. Hertz would not allow me to update the payment source on my reservation so I was forced to cancel and rebook as a walk up. Terrible.

Friendliest staff ever. I did have to return the vehicle off-hours, which meant no shuttle service and a long, cold walk from parking lot to terminal. Other than that, everything was great.

Pros:

We were able to keep the car longer for a reasonable price. Thank you.

Cons:

The ability to pick up the car. Our flight was delayed & there was not an effort made for us to be able to pick up the car before closing at the extraordinary time of 5pm. In the end, we had an extra $30 in Lyft fees to get the car at the airport the next day. Not a great way to start this rental.

Pros:

I liked the car overall, but it had a tire pressure problem. The light kept flashing “check tire pressure”. I had to go to a few places in town and wait for them to check it and it turned out it was 5 or 6 psi below what it should have been!

Cons:

I asked the check-in clerk for a 1 pm return on the scheduled date. But he put 12 pm instead. When I called Hertz to ask for an extra hour, they wanted $32 extra (for 1 hour!!!!!). Nobody else does this. Hotels and resorts, all over the world, allow an extra hour without penalty. I was told on the phone I would be granted an extra 1/2 hour because of the tire pressure problem. Nothing else. And at check-out I find I was charged $13.99 for one-half hour. This is ridiculous. With a policy like this, I will NOT be renting from Hertz again!

Vehicle picked up was not cleaned or washed, customer service at location was horrible. I would call multiple times and was placed directly on hold by store manager Rachel advising “ im with a customer please hold” didn’t even get an opportunity to ask or state a word.

The dropoff was supposed to be at the Albequerque airport but the address given was several miles away and provided no shuttle to the airport. Fortunately, we were smart enough to call and got the drop off changed to the airport.

Pros:

The worst pressure up-selling of my life. This could easily be worth 300 to 400 dollars added to the price. Avis is pretty greedy.

Cons:

Up front details about up-selling. I doubt I'll rent from Avis again. Costs can quadruple.

The car we were given was extremely uncomfortable for a short person to drive and drop off via the drop box not very user friendly (no writing utensils available and we didn’t have any with us on vacation)

I was able to choose the exact car I wanted and was even able to reserve a cooler and boogie board to use for the week. The car was in like-new condition. The free shuttle was convenient, fast and the drivers were nice. The location was a little bit further from the airport, but it wasn't a problem.

It was the first time we rented via Turo, so I don't have a good base reference to compare in general, and can only compare to car rental experiences with commercial fleets (like Budget or Enterprise). In general it was okay -- we made it to where we were going and back, with no major issues. It's doable. However, there were some "surprises" where things didn't quite got as we expected: * We made rental reservation with expectation that we're picking up at the airport. When we got there, it turned out that the car is not at the airport, and the address given to us turned out to be what seemed to be Portland's airport Fire Rescue Tower (where, obviously, we can't even walk to or be at). We called the owner, and turned out that the car is at some house that's "not far" from the airport, and gave us new address. So additional expense of taking Uber/Lyft to get to the car (and apparently that address exists in two neighboring towns, and somehow Uber/Lyft took us first to the wrong one, so we had to take another ride, but that's not a Turo issue, just more expense as a consequence of car not being at the airport as promised). * When we got there, we called the owner to get the keys: "-- Keys are under front door's floormat. -- Nope, they're not there. -- Then try mailbox? -- Yes, they're there." The owner wasn't there, which is okay to do this all remote, but would be nicer if owner was in general "on top of things" such as where the car is and where it is expected to be picked up, where exactly are its keys, etc. * Then owner requested that prior to return we take the car to be washed and cleaned inside and out. We neither planned on looking for car detailing places in Portland, nor for time that it would take away from sightseeing, nor for extra substantial expense it would be. We pushed back and the owner backed off saying that he'll let it go due to confusion with pickup location (and apparently he didn't send some email that he was supposed to send, or something along those lines). * And while the car wasn't too dirty, it wasn't clean to begin with (which made detailing request that more amusingly odd). Crumbs on floor and seats and luggage compartment. Worst part was that windshield was dirty on the inside that was minor unpleasant at daytime, but as driving progressed into night time, it was quite significant as it was blurring lights and affected visibility substantially. * We also added additional driver thru Turo and let the owner know. The owner requested that we send him picture of drivers license directly to him. We refused (as it didn't seem right, given that Turo is the one that manages that aspect) and he backed off. * Of course, additional expense of Uber/Lyft after return drop-off as we weren't dropping it off at the airport as originally planned. So all in all we probably spent additional $50-60 in Uber/Lyft for getting to and from cars location instead of it being in the airport, and lost about 3+ hours for dealing with additional unplanned travel. The rest was okay. Car drove fine and didn't give any problems.
