I have never waited so long to pick up a car with a reservation already made. The location is either under staffed or they are just so slow. One customer representative specifically and aggressively trying to get costumers to pay more, to upgrade to expensive cars, pay for fast lane, add insurance. He is using fear tactics and it slows down the line highly.

The pick up line was exceptionally long and people at the counter were very rude and condescending. Will never rent the car at this company ever no matter how great deal they may offer. Terrible!

They refused my credit card saying it was debit. Indigo although a crappy card is only a credit card. Coachella was going on and I think they just wanted to rent it for more since I planned ahead. Stay away from these guys.

Getting to the Midway rental office from the airport is a bit confusing and poorly marked/explained. You take an airport bus from the arrivals to a parking lot down road from the airport, and then the rental car companies routinely come by and use vans/large SUVs to bring people from that parking lot to their specific rental location. The check out line was long and slow (about 35-40 mins of waiting), but once I got to counter it was smooth and it took 5-10 minutes to get the paperwork filled out. Returning car was fast and easy.

most car rental places at LAX pick you up directly. midway makes you take this bus, operated by the airport, which stops at every terminal and then brings you to a random area which then you get off and then finally head to the rental location. once there, they have no bathroom, and the line moves super slowly. better to spend another $50 per day to avoid this hassle.

Did not have car available for us that we rented and pre paid for. Only car available was $40 more dollars a day. Total rip off. Terrible service. Never using Hertz again. Not surprised they are bankrupt.

Pros:

We were upgraded from a compact to a Ford Escape and it was very nice. We rented it for a trip to Tucson and enjoyed all of its features. They were very nice at the desk and we were in and out quickly.

Pros:

Nice car, friendly service.

Cons:

I took the insurance out suggested on the Kayak website only to find that when I got to the rental place, that insurance didn't cover any damage to others if I got in to an accident. I therefore had to take out another policy with Avis to cover me in case of that.

Despite having a reservation they had no cars available whatsoever. Eventually told me I could take the sports car since I was an hour late for work, but it would be an additional $20/day. Eventually they said they could remove the upcharge when I returned the car. Took over an hour to pick up the car. Dropped off on time, took over an hour to return the car. 1 employee on site and so many customers we all couldn't even fit in the lobby. Upcharge on car was remove, part of me feels this was only because of the insanely terrible service at pickup and drop off. Never again at this location.

The rental office was closed at the time of my reservation. I waited for 25 minutes then called Budget. The phone rep said he would transfer my reservation to another location 15 miles away “for no charge” and then put me on hold. 10 minutes later (still on hold) someone showed up. At this point we were running more than 30 minutes behind schedule and I had to press the agent to confirm that I would be returning the car 30 minutes later as well. She begrudgingly adjusted the contract. She told me the car’s fuel tank was at 3/4 and to return it with 3/4 full. When I returned the car, a different agent checked everything and noticed the fuel tank wasn’t full, it was 7/8 full and that I would be charged to top it up. I told him that I actually was returning it with more gas than I got it with and also 30 minutes early and that I should be charging him for my time and the extra fuel I just gifted Budget. Every single person I interacted with at Budget was completely sour, confrontational and trying to nickel and dime me out of time, money and fuel. This was a very expensive rate and at that price point, you really need to show up on time and not threaten charges when you are being gifted fuel and given an early return. What you should really do is say “thank you.”

Pros:

The staff was very friendly and efficient. They offered another car as an option so I wouldn’t have to wait. Even though I didn’t take that option my car arrives quite quickly anyway. My rental car was a mini copper countryman and it was fantastic.

Horrible - do not book with NextCar. They denied my car insurance because I was not the primary policyholder. I have full coverage insurance, so there was no logistical reason to deny it. The supplemental insurance cost as much as the rental itself. I was never told at the time of booking that I would be forced to use their insurance if I wasn’t the primary policyholder. I was only told so 24 hours out from my booking. I’m actively trying to get a refund for this.

The agent was not at the airport on the day of pickup. He told me the reason was that he had called me a day before and I had not answered, which is not true as I have the call logs and haven't received any call/sms/email. Then proceeded to tell me that most of people don't read T&C and that I had to pay 500 EUR insurance for 4 days if I wanted the car, on top of other fees. I am pretty sure something like this would stand out in the invoice, not hidden and nothing to do with T&C because this company would then have much bigger problems than scam sales. I raised a dispute for service not provided, scam offer change. Never again.

I came to pick up the car and nobody was in the office so I had to wait for them to reach and got the car late. Also, I asked for some extra to be deducted from the deposit but they made a mistake and I had to pay it separately. They did give me an upgrade because they were late but I just end up spending more gas because I got bigger car..

I was a little wary about going with a local car rental agency -- I've gotten cars that weren't clean or smelled smoky. Black & White were extremely polite, professional and prompt. I was picked up in an impeccably clean Suburban, and the car I got (Toyota Corolla) was very clean and worked well. As a female, some of these car rental agencies don't feel safe and seem sketchy, but this agency was not one of them. I would 100% recommend them again, and I will definitely see if they have a car for me the next time I need a car from LAX.
