9.7 Excellent (95 reviews)
Overview Reviews
SITUATED ALONE ATOP A HAND CRAFTED CIRCULAR STAIRCASE WITH VIEWS TO THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES. AS PART OF A FOUR FLOOR 1928 MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR GATED ESTATE THE GROUNDS ON A CLEAR DAY REVEAL A GLIMPSE OF THE OCEAN IN THE DISTANCE. ALL OUR ROOMS ARE IMMACULATE. WE LOVE FAST WiFi AND CLEAN SPACES AND HOPE YOU DO TOO! The listing is not a guest house, but a private guest suite. We're in the hills above the Pasadena Rose Bowl, close to the Pasadena Convention Center and within walking distance to hiking trails overlooking JPL - NASA and La Cañada. We are Hollywood, Universal Studios close (about 25 Mins - also reachable by Metro) and 45 Minutes from Disneyland. We're a short ride from HRC診所. This Spanish Mediterranean estate was originally built by two women from Chicago in the roaring 20’s. The home is on the national register of historic places and is particularly noted for its rare collection of 1920‘s Batchelder tile. Mr. Batchelder was a famous maker of art tiles and leader of the American Arts and Crafts Movement as well as founder of the Pasadena Playhouse. The hand-made tiles while typically only found sparingly used around fireplaces abound in the Great Room of the home with an entire floor made of this rare and unique tile. As seen in the photos: the home contains curiosities from around the globe. Visual delights are everywhere from a massive Indian “floating door” in the living room to Mughal empire inspired tapestry crafted of golden thread and semi-precious stones of Kashmiri origin. Ancient thrown pots from Israel sit atop intricately carved wooden columns surrounded by Brazilian antiques nestled within a 35 foot high cathedral ceiling. A 12th Century Cambodian Apsara the female spirit of the clouds and waters quietly bemuse our guests while Moroccan glow lanterns adorn Persian artifacts and antique tea pots on display. Have your morning tea or coffee outside on the veranda overlooking Los Angeles with a delightfully friendly but exotic Black Russian Terrier. This is a quiet serene place of reflection, rebirth and rejuvenation. Our guests always have a reserved parking spot near one of the antique fountains with a private entrance to the home and feather bedded Zen garden retreat. As the private bedroom is on its own floor and sleeps two registered quests w private bath and shower it affords the ability to be completely independent from the rest of the home if desired. We provide Bathing amenities (Soap, Shampoo, Conditioner, Q-tips, and cotton Swabs, Towel, Washcloths); iPhone charging, Alarm clock, Writing desk, Down pillows and comforter, Downstairs kitchen access, Free WiFi, English Simplex tea kettle, French press coffee, filtered water and a start to your day with complimentary beverages, coffee, tea, creamer. We are located in the hills near the ROSE BOWL cresting above a twenty foot wall of decorative ironwork ivy and fig. Guests may easily walk to the ROSE BOWL PARADE staging area on Orange Grove Blvd or other sites in town like the Norton Simon Museum, Old Town Pasadena. There is easy driving access to Huntington Hospital, the Santa Anita Racetrack or the world famous Huntington Botanical Gardens as well as Disneyland, Universal Studios, Staples Center and all the wonderful attractions of Southern California. Some notes; Please be at least age 25. If you are same day instant booking please make direct contact with us before your arrival.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Tj and Jorie were great. Went out of there way to make us feel comfortable. The house and its decorations and artwork were amazing! Very peacefully. Thank you guys. Loved it.
Cons: Wish I lived closer.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The friendliness and intelligence of the manager. The relaxed feeling of the area. The beauty of the house and it's furnishings.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed the beautiful location of the property away from the hustle of the city. The gardens were tranquil and welcoming, with tremendous views. We also loved the interior of the hotel; every room was unique and there were many interesting antiques and curios around the house. Our host,TJ, was warm, interesting and very thoughtful. We would definitely recommend this property.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We spent two nights at TJ's place and this was the best accommodation that we had so far while traveling through California. TJ was a super-friendly and attentive host who went out of his way to make our stay pleasant. He even took the time to help us with our travel itinerary and gave us some tips to some secret L.A. hot spots! The house is absolutely gorgeous, very clean and tidy with a breathtaking view over L.A. Breakfast was delicious too with a great variety of food for every taste. We would definitely recommend this place
7.1 Good
Pros: View.
Cons: Shower didn’t work properly. No shoes allowed in the house. Can’t use the chiminea.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: In the mountain in the middle of Pasadena. Idyllic.
Cons: It’s a tricky drive, which is part of the ambiance.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were searching for a location to stay near the Rose Bowl. The Patrician Hollywood Universal was suggested in the search. We are not typically bed and breakfast style travelers but I am glad we selected the property. The property was beautiful, the host was very accommodating and informational on attractions to visit and restaurants to try. The location was great for our needs and there are many restaurants within a short drive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Patrician and its host are phenomenal. The rooms are stylish with a sense of charm and the 1920’s Santa Fe architecture will blow you away. Views? Jaw dropping. A rare find.
The Langham Huntington, Pasadena - Pasadena - Building
2
9.2 Excellent (2,823 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Langham Huntington, Pasadena, Los Angeles in Pasadena, you'll be in the historical district, within a 5-minute drive of Pasadena Convention Center and California Institute of Technology. Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, a 24-hour business center, and limo/town car service. Planning an event in Pasadena? This hotel has facilities measuring 50,000 square feet (4,650 square meters), including conference space.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was so helpful! I walked in with my 4 young children and anytime I had a question they would drop what they were doing and walk me to the location I was looking for or assist me with our gear without accepting a tip!
7.0 Good
Cons: They made us wait for 3 hours to check in, then claimed there was an issue with their phones as the reason for why they didn't call us when the room was in fact ready.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: The room was probably one of the worst they had. Small with no view. Staff did allow us to upgrade.
7.9 Good
Pros: I loved the location of the property, the beauty of the property, the cleanliness of the property, the attention of the staff.
Cons: Starting from the front: the valet line could use some structure, we got in with no problem but when trying to leave and come back after making a quick run to the store it was difficult to get our car and drop off again due to parties leaving and wedding guest arriving. There should be dedicated lanes for returning guest, new arrivals, and departures. Now the lobby while beautiful had the overpowering scent of whatever flowers were on display, I was ok with it but it made my wife’s allergies act up-seems like a unnecessary risk to to someone having a allergic reaction. The room was beautiful except the shear curtains are so old that they are shredded to pieces for $485 for 1 night I would expect totally luxury. No USB ports in room.Television in the room needs better placement we had to strain our necks to the right to watch the television. Also a upgrade to a smart television might be another option. The Taps room could use more seating tables, the sofa/couch in the center is very awkward and uncomfortable if trying to eat at one of the small tables no back support and you would be too far from the table if you sat all the way back. We couldn’t find the coffee machine in the room and were force to buy $10 lattes from the Terrace, not knowing there was a coffee cart outside the lobby with $5 lattes. The Spa area was excellent except the hair dryers in the women’s locker room were worthless, barely had any power to them, my wife had to come back to the room to fully dry her hair. Other than that, it was a great first stay and will definitely come back with maybe a better room rate.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The flowers in the lobby were INSANE! the attention to detail everywhere was impressive. The grounds were so lovely.
Cons: my bathtub was old and grubby there was not enough coffee and the type was not well marked ( decaf, regular, tea)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: 5 star, the price for valet parking was reasonable. The property is luxury. Bathroom was huge
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. This is my fourth stay here and it did not disappoint. Everything here matched the star rating.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The history and vibe. For the money, I got a very nice room. Unfortunately I had no time to actually experience the hotel. I am not a typical client and was actually looking to experience the hotel for the first time. Things just didn't work out.
Cons: Honestly, I don't pay for parking. Paying for parking is one reason I would choose to stay elsewhere.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quality, service, grounds
Cons: $35 daily parking rate
5.0 Okay
Pros: Decor, views, gardens, pool, location/convenience to Caltech
Cons: This was my 2nd stay at Langham; room felt short of expectations. Outlets didn't work consistently. Remote control kept jamming. House keeping cleaned the room & did turn-down service 1st day/night, but not 2nd day/night. Fire alarm went off at 6:38 a
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful grounds, exceptional service.
Cons: Disappointed with room service. Took too long and the order was wrong.
Coast Anabelle Hotel - Burbank - Building
3
9.1 Excellent (402 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Coast Anabelle Hotel in Burbank, you'll be near the airport, within a 5-minute drive of NBC Studios and Warner Brothers Studio. Featured amenities include a 24-hour business center, express check-out, and dry cleaning/laundry services. This hotel has 2 meeting rooms available for events. A roundtrip airport shuttle is complimentary at scheduled times.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Easy to get to. Good location
Cons: There was an awful smell in the hallway and our room. It was too late to request a room change. It’s a older building. Maybe that was the issue. Photos are deceiving for this property.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The employees were exceedingly helpful and polite and the room was perfect! It even had a small refrigerator, which was very useful.
Cons: Your website could be clearer about your shuttle service. In one place it said that you provided shuttle service to a few different local areas and attractions. But in another spot it said that you only provide shuttle service to the Bob Hope airport. Consequently, I was too late to get reservations at convenient times for my family when I found out that you do, in fact, have shuttle service to different attractions around town.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel location was good in distance from our destination to Universal Studios. The y provided a shuttle ride to the park.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room and beautiful shower. Overhead lights for the bed. Great staff, particularly Luis and Angel.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The door locked.
Cons: Unfortunately...everything. Let me just say that we were on the highest floor: 3. Everytime the phone rang at the front desk, we thought we needed to answer it in our room. Said enough?
7.0 Good
Pros: The proximity to Universal studios was nice, coupled with the complimentary shuttle. For the price, a continental breakfast would have been nice, but they had a restaurant attached. Staff was friendly and accommodating.
Cons: The very first thing I did was pull the bed covers back and check the sheets. One of them had dirty sheets. I was also almost charged $75 for a bathrobe that was never restocked in my room's closet. I caught this on the way out and had to talk with staff.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff were pleasant & nice; the hotel, inside and out, was very clean (to my standards, that's saying a lot!); staff were knowledgeable of anything asked of them regarding Burbank about how to get to different locations, etc.; we really liked the large shower(!); we enjoyed the food in the hotel restaurant; and the "free" transportation to Universal City Walk was enjoyable; parking at the hotel was "free" (a huge plus!); and we met some very nice people during our stay. We would stay there again.
Cons: There was only one thing -- The toilet paper, it felt like sand paper! Need to invest in a "softer" brand.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very friendly and helpful!
Cons: There was not much nearby that was walking distance, but easy enough to get an über to take you to nearby sights/activities.
7.4 Good
Pros: Staff was great. Hotel was clean and comfortable. A little off the beaten path but seemingly a nice neighborhood.
Cons: I asked for a pre noon check in online the day before and I was not allowed to check in until 3 pm.
dusitD2 Hotel Constance Pasadena - Pasadena - Building
4
9.0 Excellent (2,013 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Constance Pasadena in Pasadena, you'll be in the business district, within a 15-minute walk of Pasadena Playhouse and Pasadena Museum of California Art. Featured amenities include a 24-hour business center, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and dry cleaning/laundry services. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
7.0 Good
Pros: I liked the rooms and the pool area, very nice.
Cons: The garage was too hot! I cannot imagine anyone even working down there for a short time. Not safe. Even just parking and walking through was just yuck. Too hot.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Location was great, the hotel staff was friendly. The hotel was also clean and smelled great.
Cons: The studio suite was small and had an open bath, which I knew about. What I wasn't expecting was the semi-private toilet room that's only separated by a partial glass door. Basically, you can speak with whoever is in there while laying in the bed fifteen feet away. Not very well thought out, particularly given the fact that the name of the studio suite on their website is Studio Suite - Romance. No bell service or valet was also not ideal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel. Amazing staff. Location location location -- within walking distance of most central Pasadena destinations. Did I say amazing staff? They work hard to make sure you have an amazing stay.
Cons: Walls are paper thin. I still can't understand why any hotel developer does this.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Food was great in the resturant! Better than expected. The staff was very friendly and upbeat, offering to help at every opportunity.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I liked the design and the peaceful surroundings.
Cons: The rooms were a little bit on the small side. We had to pay for the parking and breakfast was not included.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Can’t fault anything for this hotel. The staff where outstanding from our first step through the door, all rooms and facilities to a high standard
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was only a one night stay in this hotel but I was very impressed. We got to check in early and the staff were very helpful and gave us some good local tips. The room was lovely, modern and very clean. We also got to use the pool which has a lovely area to sit out and relax. The bar had happy hour which was good value. I also loved looking at the old pictures of Pasadena around the hotel. Overall a lovely hotel.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The layout of the room was really unique and spacious. The quality of in room coffee was also excellent. The pool facilities were fantastic and excellent hot tub!
Cons: We didn’t eat at the hotel as breakfast seemed a little pricey.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location near many restaurants and shops. Rooms are small but very well appointed.
6.3 Good
Pros: the place in Pasadena downtown
Cons: We stayed 3 days in the same room, and the room was never cleaning ! So when I said to the reception staff, she told me that I had put a "red light" on so mind that please no cleaning my room ?? I never saw or put this "red light" and we had never put the tag also on the door ... for 4 stars hotel it is not acceptable Christian
10.0 Excellent
Pros: it was hip with colors
Cons: no microwave
9.0 Excellent
Cons: $20 Charge to check in early - even if I did not want room access.

Pros: Loved the modern look with the retro flair, great location, $5 uber ride to citywalk.
Cons: Our room lock did not work properly, you had to push and force it open.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff are really friendly and helpful. It's just a 5 minute walk to Warner Bros Studios and a 5 min drive to Universal Studios so ideally located for a stay in LA. There are plenty of restaurants in the area and its safe to walk around. Our kids enjoyed a dip in the pool at the end of a busy day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The atmosphere was fantasic, Staff was amazing, Loved everything about this place. 5 stars all the way around. My favorite part was the freshly baked pastiries from a local place in the morning, my Choc chip muffin was to die for, you wont regret a stay at this place and you'll want to stay longer than you planned.
Cons: no negatives for this place
7.9 Good
Pros: Clean and nice location.
Cons: Parking.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location Nice room Very nice and helpful staff
Cons: The breakfast is actually coffee and pastries (fresh ones) which was a little disappointing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is awesome if you are going to the WB or Universal Studios. The room was comfortable. The pool was nice and warm. The employees were very helpful giving directions to places.
Cons: I think it should offer a shuttle from the airport. The breakfast is Ok.they offer fresh baked goods but they should make sure that ones with nuts are kept separate from the rest.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was very cute and modern with orange and green decor. The pool went to 8 feet deep which I loved. It was close by to many restaurants.
Cons: The pool closed at 9pm which left little time to swim. Breakfast was just a box of pastries they had on the counter in the check-in area; I don't think they should be allowed to count that as free breakfast with your stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was quaint and nicely updated.
Cons: no
10.0 Excellent
Pros: LOVED this place. It is a smaller hotel - which is perfect, it was nice and quiet. The room was sparkling clean, and so fun. Love the pops of tangerine orange everywhere. The staff was amazing, super friendly, helpful, and there 24/7! The pool was heated and it was a great way to end the night. It was very comfortable, we slept fantastic. Large room, very clean. Walking distance to many things, lots of places to eat, very safe area too. Delicious pastries offered in the morning from a local pastry shop - we didn't go to get some until 10:30am (available 7:30 - 11 i believe) and there was plenty of delicious options left - it was a really nice little cherry on top of a great stay at a fabulous little hotel!
Cons: I wish the pool was open later, but that is just because we are night owls. I believe it closes at 9 or 10, which is totally reasonable. Other than that I honestly liked it all!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: clean, simple and quiet place
Cons: no
9.0 Excellent
Pros: It was clean and local. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Cons: No. It served it's function for the trip.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was unique with every room having different murals and great location, very friendly hotel staff, and they even have a coffee/espresso machine at all hours of the night as well as pastries provided in the morning! Would definitely recommend for a trip to LA and will be staying here again!
Cons: Limited parking in front so have to park in the back lot

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The beds are over the top luxurious and comfortable
Cons: The price
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The professionalism and patience with my elderly parents.
Cons: The price. No break for huge block of rooms including suites.
5.0 Okay
Cons: The property over charged me before I even checked in. I called as soon as realized, but it was impossible to get through to their billing dept. All you can do is leave a message and no one calls you back. When I got to the property to check in I explained the issue and they were very rude about it at first saying it was a "booking.com" issue. It was not, I had been over charged directly by The Westin. They finally fixed the issue but only after giving me a lot of attitude and offering no apology. My friend tried to check in after 4pm and her room still wasn't ready! Unacceptable.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location to Universal Studios and room size.
Cons: Price was higher than expected.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Just about everything was great with the Hotel.
Cons: Wish they had a back entrance to the Hotel so that we didn't have to walk all the way around the Hotel to get to and from Universal Studies. Yes we did use the shuttle also.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked this hotel's close proximity (5 min) walking to Universal Studios. It was great because when the park got very crowded, we went back and chilled for an hour or so(literally in the middle of July) and then went back to the park after.
Cons: This hotel was a little pricey and you still had many extra fees and had to pay for parking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms are large and clean. The bath is what one would want in their own home. Great location.
Cons: There was a error on my rate which still hasn't been resolved. However the staff member was very helpful and professional. Every hotel needs someone like hotel employee.
10.0 Excellent

8.0 Excellent
Pros: the location and how comfortable the beds were
Cons: the tv remote lagged out and took forever to change channel or turn volume up and down.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Near Universal and has shuttle service.
Cons: We got stuck inside the elevator twice and when we called for help no one was answering. We finally got a hold of someone after the third call. Was told she was going to send someone and we waited 10 mins before the elevator opened. There was also no hot water in the bathroom. It was so hard to take a shower with lukewarm water. Staff was also not accommodating at all and act like we were bothering them. For almost 700.00 for 2 days it was not worth it at all. I will never book a room in this hotel in the future.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room - we were upgraded at arrival. Clean, comfy, quiet, spacious. Everything you need in and room and more. View over hogwarts Breakfast - best breakfast EVER! Staff are super friendly, can't do enough for you. Heated pool open late in evening Short walk to the universal park and citywalk or a shuttle bus to jump on

5.0 Okay
Pros: Hotel has a Daily Grill restaurant inside the hotel. Front desk staff were friendly and informative.
Cons: In the room there was only a quarter of a roll of TP. It was never replaced, or had extra rolls in the room. First day there were not any hand towels, the second there were no wash cloths. After dinner we went to the sundry store to get some ice cream to take up to the room. After paying three times the amount of a normal pint of ice cream we asked for a spoon (we normally don't pack silverware in our suitcase). The clerk gave us a plastic spoon and said it would be 10 cents! We pay over $200 a night and get charged $25 a night for parking and they charge us 10 cents for a plastic spoon!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Large clean room that had good facilities and was clean and well maintained. Easy to walk to from the airport and the shuttle was a quick way to get there with a suitcase. Good food options close by and coffee available at the bar in the lobby.

Cons: Don't stay at this hotel unless you are checking in at 3 pm. Had to sleep in a hot car for two hours in parking lot before noon, only for the receptionist to then lie. Once I stated I wanted to speak to a manager, magically a room was clean/available.

Pros: The suite and variety of breakfast
Cons: I was on room #207, the couple on room #209 were fighting, cursing, running up and down the hall. We could not sleep I even thought of calling the police but I didn’t. I called the lobby and around 2am in the morning the woman in that room finally left and everything got quiet. I reported to the lobby in the morning. I actually spoke with Stepanie Tsui and let her know about it.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The front desk staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and contemporary. WiFi is fairly fast, at least for IHG Rewards Club elite members. Breakfast is included in room rate. Hotel is located a short walk/drive to several restaurants & grocery stores. No destination/resort charge. Free parking and easy freeway access.
Cons: Rooms do not have much soundproofing. Conversations in the pool area and hallway can easily be heard from the rooms The mattresses are on the firm side but I prefer them plush. Air conditioner is a little loud. Mini-fridge sometimes makes a buzzing noise. WiFi access is not secure.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Easy check in and the staff is friendly and very helpful. Great location with many things close. Comfortable and quiet rooms too!
Cons: There’s nothing here that I did not like, I enjoyed staying here.
6.0 Good
Pros: The breakfast was delicious and overall the hotel was very updated.
Cons: The walls are thin. I had a room near the elevator and heard everything happening in the hallway....conversations, people getting on/off the elevator, the ice machine. Beware of the handicap room if you don't need it. The bed faces the door, not the TV!

Pros: The cleanliness, the amenities, the grandeur of the hotel. I was hungry upon arrival and they had two nice restaurants and a nice young bartender who got me food in the Lobby. We enjoyed our brief stay. Also the lounge on top floor was super cool. I liked the luggage robots. Very swanky
