Pros: Gayle and Michael and all the staff were warm and welcoming. Our room was very comfortable and well appointed. They were extremely attentive and made a delicious breakfast that met our dietary needs. We'll definitely return.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was one of the best if not the best bed and breakfast I ever stayed at. The host family is extremely hospitable and friendly. They had a wonderful cheese and wine reception, endless chocolate chip cookies, and a wonderful 3 course breakfast. The home is decorated beautifully, it is clean and they really go out of their way to take care of every detail. It is clear they put so much intention and love into what they do - you feel like you are an anticipated and welcome guest. Job well done - I would definitely recommend and we will be back. It's a lovely area in the Berkshires to explore!

Cons: I thought the breakfast was going to be better from readings past reviews. The breakfast was just ok. The pancakes were not fluffy and sausage was just ok. The muffin was either undercooked and very wet in the middle . Fruit parfait was nice . Breakfast was overall too sugary for me.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the moment my girlfriend and I were on the premises, every need was met and every element of the trip was perfect. The proprietors are exceptional and made this the best vacation we have ever taken. I have recommended this property to no less than ten people (coworkers, family and friends)
Cons: Nothing I can think of. The Devonfield is tremendous in being whatever you want it to be. On a holiday weekend it was still comfy, cozy.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful historic house and great hosts
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners were friendly and helpful. I inquired about things to do in the area and they not only gave me great suggestions on where to eat but they looked up information for me about local attractions to see if they were still open for the season. Sadly, the one I really wanted to do was closed a few weeks back for the winter season but that just gives us an excuse to go back at a different time of year next year. So appreciative of their kindness.
Cons: There was nothing I didn't like except that I picked a week that was too late in the fall foliage season. I would liked to have seen more colors but it peaked a few weeks prior.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Charming.... warm, hospitable welcome/interactions with staff and other visitors due to the atmosphere encouraged by owners. fantastic breakfast
Cons: Small washroom... but for the 200 year old mansion, amazing to have a private bathroom! It was certainly adquate.

Cons: The fitness room is really a basement tricked out with a few machines. Kind of dark and dreary. But the whole property makes up for what one shouldn’t need in those divine Berkshires. Walking.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast should offer alternate items. Location was great. Hosts were very friendly and always available.
Cons: It was a tough climb to second floor bedroom. It should have been highlighted in the booking process.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the cozy decor to the scrumptious breakfasts, Birchwood Inn is one of a kind! Tom and Debbie, the innkeepers, serve up a warm, hospitable atmosphere from the moment you step out of your car. The location is just steps away from downtown Lenox. We walked to Tanglewood and enjoyed a concert there. We also paddle boarded at the Stockbridge Bowl and walked on the trails of the Mass Audobon's Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary. Brenda, their treasure of a cook, creates delicious breakfasts and baked goods that are fit for the gods! Finally, I must mention the sweet, homemade treats laid out for guests to nosh on any time of the day. A gem of a place!

Cons: that we had to leave back home after such an amazing weekend ;)
7.7 Good
Pros: The owner was very nice. The home is very comfortable. The location is great.
Cons: The furnishings need updating. The bedding needs updating with better quality pillows, down comforters, white duvets. Its a little old fashioned. Would like to see an updated kitchen and it would be helpful if the service understood the history of the home and surrounding areas. Would also be nice to have less sugary options for breakfast.
9.5 Excellent
Cons: A bit overpriced due to not going directly to the actual Birchwood website, which is what we tried to do, but were misdirected by the booking.com site. We just need to be more careful next time. The B&B was great, though.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Debbie and Tom were the most gracious and helpful hosts. We enjoyed meeting them and hearing their story. Their inn is absolutely serene and the cleanliness was up to my very high standards! The breakfast was superb, especially the maple bacon scones!!!! My favorite part of our stay was enjoying some wine on the huge porch. It was so relaxing
Cons: I disliked that we didn't stay more than one night!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The inn is lovely. The grounds lush with flowers and trees. The front porch looks out on lovely gardens. Close walk to town, but not right in town, which is great. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Home baked goodies, eggs and fruit. Our room lovingly decorated and comfortable with all amenities. We will definitely stay at he Birchwood Inn again!

Pros: Innkeeper very helpful, present, available to patrons. Also loved that it’s adjacent to a wonderful hiking area, Kennedy Park. Also very easy and quick to walk to downtown Lenox.

Pros: We weren't in the main house; our room turned out to be in the nearby carriage house. However, this meant we had a balcony that viewed the woods and were further away from the road, so less traffic noise. (It rained during our stay, which was rather romantic.) The room was small but really lovely. A quite extensive breakfast buffet was served at the charming main house. The staff was very accommodating.

Pros: Great location just outside of historic Lenox. Clean Modern Hotel. Nice Indoor Pool and Hot Tub.
Cons: No Free Breakfast. No Free Coffee In the Lobby.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Our room was a good size, clean and with comfortable beds. The coffee machine and fridge very handy, though more cups would have been useful. Recharging facilities for iPads and phones plentiful, aircon thankfully fairly quiet. Breakfast offered a good selection and staff service was good. Evening bar staff and service ditto. Reception staff were also helpful and informative with a good attitude. Good parking available around the property, which is well sited and easily accessible.
Cons: The main entry door to the property needs welcoming flowers in a planter, instead of the current rubbish bin !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location safety cleanliness Beautiful Bathroom
Cons: I wish TV in front of bed
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gathered family together to celebrate a birthday . Thank you to the management as they are so outreaching and honest. We had inadvertently left a gift certificate in our room and they reached out to us to get an address to mail it back to us. That really means a lot. We as a group of 6 adults and 2 under 3 ate at the restaurant and had a great meal. It worked out perfect for if the little ones got bored at dinner we could leave for a bit without leaving the group permanently . The pool was such fun on a cold winter day. As it was we had the pool to ourselves for about an hour before other guests joined us.

Pros: The uniqueness and the location.
Cons: We were on the bottom floor and the room above’s floor squeaked with every step of the person. Luckily the person slept the same hours as we did so it was not a problem.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We did not have breakfast at the Inn....we've stayed there once before...lovely accommodations ! All first class
Cons: This isn't a did NOT like but I do wish there would have been someone on duty a bit more upon leaving and during since I had a question or two to ask including availability in the not too distant future and the bell wasn't on the desk to reach anyone but this is minor since the Inn is truly very well kept and a lovely place to stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice & very clean. I would recommend the place to anybody
Cons: Everything was great.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location on the Main Street and a lovely Inn. Like most of the US the cost is ridiculous, esp when tips are also expected for the service staff. I very much appreciate the Inn provides real glasses and crockery rather than being disposable like most places I’ve stayed.
Cons: Cost.
3.0 Mediocre

You have to go to the basement to fetch your own water. Rooms/especially bathrooms in serious need of updating (broken toilet seat). Dresser draws too small to be of any use.

9.4 Excellent
Pros: From the moment we arrived at the Shaker Mill Inn we instantly felt at home. We walked into our room and the lights were on, music was playing, the electric fire place was on, and there was wine, compliments of the owners. The room was extremely clean and well-kept and full of little personal touches. We stayed for two nights and went skiing at Catamount during the day. It was just a half hour drive from Catamount and worked out for us very well.
Cons: Our room wasn't completely modern and updated, but what it lacked in updates, it made up for in cleanliness.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: The innkeepers provided a small bottle of wine as a welcoming gift, there is an electric fireplace for ambience and you can eat the provided breakfast in your room. There are games and movies available and the innkeeper was very informative. Also they provide robes, have a fridge, toaster oven and microwave in the room. Ice is in the freezer. The woman who is part of the cleaning staff (Kim I believe) was very nice when we were leaving. Unfortunately my elderly mom was ill at 2:00pm the night before from eating fried food and I cleaned up as best I could. Kim was very sweet and expressed her concern and said not to worry about anything. Can't say enough about the owners and staff. They are there to meet your needs and ensure that you enjoy your stay.
Cons: Only suggestions would be to have a wall mirror in the living area so when one guest was in the bathroom the other could get ready outside. Little plates would have been nice for our bagels, quiche and other baked goods. Not major inconveniences by any means.

We are minutes away from Tanglewood, the Norman Rockwell Museum, Kripalu, and many other Berkshire attractions. Great restaurants are nearby in the surrounding area. Come stay with us, relax in the quiet, the calm, the babbling brook. We are sure you will be pleased!

Cons: The staff was rude and insulting in response to my informing them that the tv in our room wasn’t working. They didn’t bother to acknowledge the text I sent during the evening, and only acknowledged it after I initiated a conversation with them about the tv the next morning. They didn’t take responsibility for the malfunction and told me I was operating it wrong, even thought there was loose socket in the outlet and they couldn’t get the tv to work either. They insinuated that I was lying about the tv, and argued that it was fine although it wouldn’t turn on to a channel. They were ungracious and made me feel very uncomfortable. The host said that we got a good price on the room and shouldn’t complain. The experience soured what was supposed to be a pleasant day.

Pros: Super nice room! Clean! Comfy bed! Good breakfast Super nice staff Unbeatable location
Cons: Not really anything

Pros: Location was perfect, a short walk to many wonderful restaurants and shops in Lenox. Breakfast was homemade, generous and delicious. Room and bathroom were spacious and clean. The décor was pleasing, staff were helpful and pleasant.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Large comfortable bed, clean room with nice bathroom/shower. Large window with a great view of Walker St.
Cons: The only thing I can think of, and this is minor, I wish there was another chair in the room (only had one).
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast, Intimate setting , lovely setting and room
Cons: Bed was hard and uncomfortable in Juliet suite Staff were a bit indifferent
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Proximity to downtown Lenox was ideal!
Cons: We went on a mid week stay and the inn restaurant, bar or jazz lounge were not open
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous! Great room with claw-foot tub. Beautiful antiques. The food in the restaurant was very well prepared and not overpriced. The live jazz was a wonderful way to spend the evening. And they even made sugar-free icecream for my husband when I told them he couldn't have sugar. That is service. We booked our next stay before we left.
Cons: Not one thing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Convenient to town in a beautiful place

5.0 Okay
Pros: Good location. Great restaurant. Nostalgic, historic property.
Cons: Terrible bed. Uncomfortable room -- little ventilation or air conditioning. Young, eager but distracted staff. Tried calling front desk from local theater; no one answered phone. Room on 4th floor with unreliable elevator.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Character, charm, tradition, and history of the Inn! Relaxing on the front porch. Location is great!
Cons: Check in staff was very friendly! Some of the staff could be friendlier and more helpful for breakfast and lunch. Ronnie, our evening waiter was excellent!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Interesting old hotel, staff very professional, courteous, and helpful.
Cons: Did not like sharing a bathroom – would not do that again.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We had dinner at the Inn, the food was delicious and the ambiance was great! Went to the Lion's Den after Dinner for live music - very fun!
4.0 Okay
Pros: The food was excellent. We ate in the Tavern and the Main dining room.
Cons: The hotel was not clean. Dirty windowsills, lack of care type of stuff. Bathroom had black mold stains on the vinyl flooring. We stay at Mohonk Mountain House and The Mirror Lake Inn and have never encountered this level of dirtiness. Won't be back.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Restaurant, front porch and staff where terrific.
Cons: We had to ask for a different room. The first room the bed was so bad that you could not lay flat on it sunk through the middle. It was also designed for one person not two. They ended up moving us to the near hundred degree top floor. The bed was marginally better a bit larger. We kept the AC on high the entire time and barely got it comfortable. The bathrooms were sub par And we have no hot water for a shower in the morning. The sinks were full of some sort of flies and there were bugs on the screens. Pretty filthy bathrooms and they were shared by the entire floor not just one other room which we were never told!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Time warp, vert well preserved.
Cons: Stodgy New Englanders.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The old charm of the Inn Sheets are excellent -soaps and lotions are wonderful Food in the dining room was excellent
Cons: The main house needs major work A good restoration is needed because the ambiance has a rundown feeling- it does a disservice to a historical landmark Inn
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel staff were amazing. Friendly and everyone was very nice. The hotel is a classic and we love it. There is a house cat named Norman and it was fun to see him in the lobby. The hotel is historic and full of a quirky collection of antiques and oddities.
Cons: The hotel is a classic and with that it seems tired. Our room was clean but the bed was very hard and the air conditioner could not be adjusted and it blew on us all night. The shared bath in the hallway was not clean.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Room was way too small for a couple. Access to bathroom was impossible. We were in room 106!
7.5 Good
Pros: Food. Historic setting.
Cons: 1. When arriving, not sure where to park or where to check in. Finally found a dirt place on side street with 'No Parking' signs where we could come in a side door. Would have appreciated some advanced notice of a check in location & parking. Also, parking was a problem overall. Back alley pot holes should be filled in. 2. When arriving at the main restaurant for meals, we had to wait most of the time until someone showed up to seat us. This position should be continuously monitored and manned. 3, There seemed to be a shortage of dinner staff the second night. We waited well over 10 minutes for someone to show up after we were seated. And the person who showed us to the table was only about 15 feet away at the podium as we sat continuously looking around. I think one of the managers finally came over and started helping us. 4. Rates are high for what you get.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: The main building has a good location but we we were never informed that we would be stuck in the Stevens House; if we wanted to share a house with others, we would have gone to a B&B or stayed at the Briarcliff Motel.
Cons: The main building is a little too quaint for us. The lunch service was spotty, slow and both soups were tepid, not hot. The major problem is the horrible condition of the swimming pool area and facilities. The men’s room sink is black with dirt and mold, weeds are growing out of the space between the tiles, knee high weeds in open spaces, no thought given or attempt to landscape or garden the area, most flowers are an afterthought and dying. Why is beige being used when color is needed. At least change the dark military green used in the changing area and use blue umbrellas to make the area inviting. There were never more than 6 people at any one time on a beautiful day when it should be well attended.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff at Yankee Inn is outstanding, old school hospitality
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was great for our needs and the breakfast was quite satisfactory. All the hotel staff were very courteous.
Cons: We sadly experienced a very disturbing and scary night-time event (1 to 3 AM) caused by the adjacent neighbors (room 222?) on the last night of our stay (6-7 Aug). They either had the TV volume turned on very high or were having a very long shouting conversation on the phone well after 1 AM. After patiently waiting for the disturbing noise to subside (it woke us up and the noise was still too loud even after putting in a set of ear plugs), we knocked on the locked communicating door (between the rooms) around 1:30 AM to kindly ask that the volume be please turned down. This went unanswered (perhaps the fellow in question was too absorbed ranting on the phone to hear our door tapping). I therefore banged louder on the door and asked again that they "please turn down the volume in their room". To which the fellow charged and banged on the door uncontrollably for 10 seconds. He went on yelling and knocking outside our front door. I called front desk for assistance or security (we were scared and did not wish to engage in a conversation with the fellow). After 20 min or so (during which we overheard the neighbor negotiate with the overnight manager), we were informed that the neighbors would be moved to another, distant room. As a parting shot, however, the neighbor ungratiously played rap music at full volume against the in-between rooms door for a full 2 minutes. We were too shaken by this intimidation attempt to fall back asleep until 4 AM.

Pros: The bed was so comfortable! Room was perfect, and made you feel at home!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location, & Value. Nice job on the refresh. Indoor & Outdoor Pools
Cons: Indoor Pool needs better ventilation. Very surprised that there were no grab bars in the showers. This to me is dangerous, particularly for seniors. It is not just an ADA issue. Otherwise fine.

Cons: The bathroom in our room was absolutely gross.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Family and seniors traveling with friends predominant clientele. Quiet location with easy access to services, Tanglewood, Pillow, Mass MOCA, etc.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Food very good, beds very comfortable, very clean, staff very hospitable, wonderful accommodations and many nice touches. We felt very much at home, great accessibility to Tanglewood. Fun paddle boarding, enjoyed sitting on the lawn with coffee and/or wine, enjoying the views. Thank you for a wonderful few days! Leah, Michael and Lena
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The lake view was awesome. Plenty of light in the room (3 windows). Spacious and comfortable queen bed. Spacious bathroom for two. Plenty of seating inside the room as well as throughout the Inn -- living room, dining room, and out of doors. I also loved the complimentary happy hour and breakfast -- both were awesome. The Inn (Lee) is conveniently located with easy access to Lenox, Stockbridge snd Great Barrington.
Cons: Two things: 1) At night, light from the hallway seeped into the room through the openings around the entry door. The light disrupted my sleep the first night; on the second, I blocked the light using articles of clothing. 2) Occasionally I could hear other patrons in adjacent rooms, but no guests were excessively loud during my stay.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Attentive staff, awesome breakfast, and all those places to sit near the lake to just...be. Kayaking was such a bonus. Definitely one of our best Berkshire memories.
Cons: I wish it was either more affordable per night, or not a two-night minimum!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our experience was wonderful, the staff was great and we can't wait to plan our next visit!
Cons: Absolutely nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I've been staying at this facility annually since 2001. The remodeling/refurbishing has made it an even more comfortable/homey bed and breakfast. The property is like a piece of heaven. It's on a bluff overlooking Laurel Lake and has its own beach/dock and kayaks/paddleboats. Breakfasts were good. it's 8 minutes from Tanglewood, 15 minutes from Great Barrington and 10 minutes from Stockbridge. Maggie and Cody were very gracious hosts.
Cons: That we had to come back to the real world.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Charming family run hotel on a lake. Delicious breakfast, public tennis courts nearby, Tanglewood, theater, excellent restaurants. A perfect summer vacation spot.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The bed was quite comfortable. The bathroom, with double sinks and a walk in shower was very luxurious. The fire pit was also nice.
Cons: The toilet had a high pitch whine every time it was flushed. The person at the desk was not very friendly and was not always available.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bathrobes were fantastic. The entire inn was clean and felt so fresh.

6.8 Good
Pros: Very nice bed linens
Cons: Beautiful bed too low to ground
7.0 Good
Pros: The review by book8ng glamorized a historic house that was not in any way refurbished the way they alluded. It felt beaten up and in need of a lot of work. We did not think details had been touched in many years.
Cons: Just told you. Also one tiny bathroom for entire floor if guests and toilet broke. So cheap.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The host, Clare, was great. The room was spacious, well appointed and clean. The breakfast was very good.
Cons: I thought that it was a bit over priced at $400. For $300 it would have been perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is nicely decorated by owner . Booking . Com however confirmed a room I chose with a bath tub which I needed do to a health issue. We had seen pics of this room while I booked only to be told the rooms with tubs are Not Available! I was hugely disappointed . The room we then received was across from the kitchen on the Main floor. We were told this is the only room for pet friendly I did not bring my small dog as I had planned.
Cons: Accurate info when booking on your site.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was delicious and rooms very comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Every detail has been thought through. The decor and little touches ie Happy hour with cheese tray, gift pouch to take bathroom amenities away, cookies on bed with a hand written welcome note- the list goes on ! Becca the Innkeeper was friendly, warm and courteous.
Cons: Nothing!
