It is so easy to be a guest at the Red Lion Inn. The staff are so willing to make your stay comfortable, the food is good and there is plenty to do and enjoy.
The location and proximity to our family in Stockbridge when I booked in August your site led me to believe that the room I booked at $135 per night was for a private room. However, upon arrival we learned that was for a shared bath and a private room with bath was $250 per night. We felt your ad was misleading or the Red Lion was not honoring the agreed upon nightly rate. We feel booking.com should refund the difference. We are not satisfied--we found bugs in our bed, and very mediocre room for $250 a night--we are seasoned travelers--this is one of the least appealing rooms we have stayed in and we love bed and breakfast type of rooms--
We stayed in Stevens House. The rooms were very nice. We enjoyed the parlor with fireplace and big screen. The kitchenette was great and had everything we needed . The location is good for a nice walk around town or a game of tennis. The lack of a breakfast option. There really aren't many alternatives in the town either. We didn't have children along , but there isn't much for them to do in town IMO.
We had come specifically to attend programs at Tanglewood & maybe some things extra. We went to the Norman Rockwell Museum and two galleries nearby. We had coffee & breakfast in, picnic lunches, and dinners at the Inn. The meal food & service are excellent & my companion has food allergies. The swimming pool was calming and beautiful, even for my quick morning swim in a light rain. All the staff were so friendly and accommodating. The frosting was Simon = the beautiful, big cat that roams about the Inn. We were in Steves' House, not the primary inn. It turned out to be a delight. It is a half block away. There was a small, but fully efficient kitchen, with ice machine & coffee maker. The tennis courts were across the street. I grew up less than 45 minutes away, but hadn't stayed for at least 20 years. Old things can get even better with time.We will definitely return as it is a pleasant & easy drive from the New York City metro area, well maybe not in a January snow storm, but I have no doubt that there would be a smiling face at the front desk when we arrive.
The Red Lion Inn is very old fashioned and quaint. The service was excellent andfriendly and the breakfast in the dining room was great every morning. Remember this is a very old building, the floors creak and the doors were a little sticky but I didn't mind.
It was a lovely stay. The hotel was crowded, and so a bit noisier than we'd have liked. Not their fault though. Service in the dining room and on the terrace was outstanding.
We were delighted with the suite accommodations.Until we located the stool, the bed was something of a challenge, but fun. We had a friendly visit from Simon who settled into the most comfortable chair in the room , and since my daughter and I both love cats we really enjoyed him.
The staff was incredibly friendly and offered us some good suggestions on places to go. We ended up visiting the different small towns in the area, and in that regard, you couldn't lose. This hotel was close to everything. The room was clean as well. Overall, it was a pretty good hotel. The beds were fine, but the pillows were terrible. For some reason they were super inflated and as you slept they would shrink down by a lot. So, they were impossible to sleep two pillows high, and one pillow would end up flat like a pancake. Also, for a king bed, there should be king pillows. One big issue we had, and it could be limited to us, was that there was very little noise buffering, and we could hear everything in the hallway and from the room above us. That was frustrating when we really were looking for a good nights sleep. Also, if you have for t-mobile, prepare for no service at the hotel.
Location by the lake. On-site Indian restaurant "Mint". Value for the money. Complimentary breakfast. Other hotels in the Berkshires were quite expensive so this was a good find overall but we will not stay here again. The carpets were very dirty especially on the staircase. There is no elevator. The a/c in the window made a lot of noise
Overall nice area/ location. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast area looked unkempt and could use some touch ups/ updating. Phone would ring at randome, but only one ring, went off a few times the middle of the night. Early in the AM, woke up to noises sounding like someone messing with the door/ door handle. ( no knock as if it was housekeeping)
Beautiful view of Laurel Lake, updated rooms, friendly staff. I would definitely stay here again. Mattress needed to be rotated! I felt like I was falling off the edge half the night.
I liked the location. We liked the room and cleanliness. The front desk offers if you forgot a bathroom item they give you a replacement for free. The room had a fridge TV and DVD player. They have a nice Indian restaurant to eat at. Lots of children running around very loud. They didn't have any lady products at the front desk, so we had to drive to the store. The door lock was broken and was difficult to open and close without it beeping loudly. The bathroom in room #117 had tile that was unfinished and jagged. We wanted to upgrade to a room with a fireplace but the fireplaces don't work we were told.
The staff was great and efficient. There is a relaxed atmosphere in general and the rooms were comfortable and hadd just the right amount of amenities. We had adjacent rooms which made the stay all that more fun.
I liked the following : received text prior to check in telling me room was ready, staff very friendly and went out of way when they learned we ate at particular restaurant about the special relationship they have with them and suggested we could go back with hotel receipt for discount, rooms clean, comfortable beds with enough pillows, but mostly loved the family vibe you got from staff. You knew they cared. Nothing bad to say
Pool and hot tub nice, Needed to upgrade room to main bldg, close to pool and breakfast Cost charged was $50 additional a night. Total aprox 150 /night a bit much, I thought. Breakfast staff work hard but bread, waffles, packaged oatmeal and cereals are minimum. News paper for both days was only one left for perhaps 15/20 breakfast patrons.
I was ticketed to fly from WashDC to Albany, then drive on to Lenox. US Air overbooked & bumped me off the plane. I flew instead to Hartford. My bag, however, went to Albany. After a long, difficult travel day, I arrived @ the Yankee Inn @11:00pm w/ very sore knees & legs. Jordan, working overnight on the front desk, was kind enough to move my room from the 2nd to the ground floor. It turned out this was an "upgrade" & would be more expensive. Jordan, a younger & perhaps less-experienced staff member, hadn't made that clear to me. At check-out, the young lady @ the desk was very understanding & told me they'd try to work it out. Next day, she called & told me there would be no further charges & that Jordan would not get in trouble because of me. Incidentally, when my bag arrived @ 1:30 am, Jordan hand-carried it to my room. I though that was nice. The mattress was thin & uncomfortable. The synthetic pillows looked comfortable but weren't. The phone was completely broken. The folks in the room above me made a thumping racket most of the night.
Dated. Separate rooms (different building) from pool. Not described
The staff was super friendly. We arrived early with friends and asked about possibly upgrading both rooms to the main building and they gave us a great deal for 2 rooms close together. The breakfasts offered custom omelets plus the usual fixings and more. It was very good! The whole place was clean and friendly and we will certainly return! This is not about the hotel per se, but it was a holiday weekends with lots of kids. We did complain about the kids on the 2nd floor running and stomping their feet well into the early hours of the morning. This is something the parents should have controlled. The Yankee Inn apologized and stated they did speak to the kids and parents multiple times, but got no results. To us on the first floor, it sounded like a herd of elephants above us. Either better behaved kids, or better expression to those staying above or put those with kids in the other building and adults only in the main building or more sound deadening material between the floors. This is our only complaint. Otherwise was an excellent stay.
Perfect for a one or two night stay. The room ammenities in the adjacent building to the main Inn are small and older yet the rooms were clean. The hot tub and indoor pool were well kept and appreciated prior to my half marathon race in Tanglewood. The staff was accomodating however they neglected to provide me with a requested wake up call. The complimentary coffee and tea was a nice touch and the gal tending bar could not have been nicer or more insightful.
Significantly overpriced for what it offered!
We enjoyed the outdoor and indoor pools. We also liked the daily breakfast and thought the offerings were a good variety and generous. The housekeeping staff was efficient and were quick to respond to requests. The rooms are a bit small, and the air conditioning unit was difficult to get to due to the location of it in the room.
Great price for a nice room. No need to pay--- a night like local B&B's
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. When we decided to stay an extra night, they didn't have room but contacted other b and b's in area.
The rooms are lovely. Spacious and charming, and we appreciated the breakfast delivered to our door. There is no public space as with most B&Bs, and the upholstered furniture is a bit tired.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was oddly arranged, and WIFI didn't reach the lower level where our room was.
It was very neat, and was not like a typical inn.. Was elegant in its own way.. Breakfast came in a basket, staff was very cooperative.. Loved the place
It's colonial charm and memorable atmosphere...
I loved that this was a restored schoolhouse and the rooms were big and gorgeous! 4 poster bed, fireplace made it very comfy and a delivered breakfast basket was a nice touch.
The location was perfect. Close to the Mass Pike but in Lee proper, a few blocks from the main strip of shops and restaurants. They offer a small breakfast in your room during your stay. I didn't see any real common space and there isn't good parking signage. But they also don't really seem to care how/where you park so that's fine.
The staff was amazing! The hotel was clean and decor spot on. The cleanliness was seen as soon as we walked through the door and continued throughout the whole hotel. Comfortable bed and a fantastic shower...we will definitely return! There wasn't one thing we disliked about this hotel and will be returning soon!
A lovely clean room with value for money
The breakfast and the space for breakfast were both terrific. I liked being able to return from the Tanglewood Concert and enjoy coffee with a friend in a nice setting. Also great waffle making. The low rating on location above is not really for the location but the signage. Usually your hotels are very visible but this one was behind the trees (nice for the Berkshires) but a bit difficult to find the entrance.
Size and comfort of room (including whirlpool!). Staff were extremely helpful in suggesting restaurants for dinner and contacting airline on our behalf. Voted best stay of our 2 weeks in New England and Niagra Falls Having accepted the lack of any dining facilities (this was not made apparent when booking) have no other negative comments (the lift was a bit slow!)
room very clean and beds extremely comfortable Since the hotel is hidden behind trees and back from main road a more visible sign would be helpful at entrance from the busy road.
Breakfast was quite good! Not having a restaurant & room service
The service was friendly, the hotel room was comfortable and the breakfast was good. No
Very comfortable room. Just what we needed for an overnight stay. Breakfast was very good also. Staff was always smiling and very helpful!
Location Our room was never cleaned when we arrived and there was no on at the desk at 6:30pm on a holiday weekend to help us. No one even answered the hotel phone. We had to drive over two hours BACK HOME! The next day they HUNG UP on me!!
Spectacular location at one of the grandest "cottages" remaining in the Berkshires. A 5 minute drive to downtown Lenox. Delicious brunch. The bathroom in our room was newly renovated and luxurious. Good service. The main building of Cranwell is breathtaking, and the prices are what you would expect to stay in such a historic and beautiful place. However, our room was in an adjacent building, circa 1963. It was pretty nice, but definitely more like what I would expect for $300 rather than $500. Perhaps on their website they make it more clear that you aren't staying in the main house, but booking through Kayak I was surprised to get less than I thought I'd paid for. I found the walls to be pretty thin in the building we stayed in (Founders).
