Excellent chef. Good all round restaurant service Reception staff were not all helpful. We were disturbed by unecessary calls from reception.
dinner was lovely as was the waitress. Unbeatable position Breakfast was v v poor using cheap products inc bread, fruit juices, jams etc. Waitress in am was appaling and breakfast was stone cold
Was delayed on train journey & when I arrived all paper work ready for me & they were happy to do room service or open bar! None
The whole atmosphere of the place, very welcoming and friendly. Staff were very good - very efficient. Lovely surroundings, rooms very comfortable. No
Friendliness of staff and accommodation, although the room was quite warm I thought it was petty that the "classic" rooms do not get bath robes. I called to ask if we did get them as there were hooks in the bathroom for them, but was told that "classic" rooms don't get them, but the guy I spoke to said he would see if he had any spare ones. I said it didn't matter for that evening he could look the following day, but the robes were not forthcoming.
The superb position of the hotel with sea views from the restaurant. Well equipped room and comfortable bed. I did not like the poor state of the decoration and the dirty and damaged tiling in the bathroom.
This is the most beautifully located hotel for a relaxing treat. The food, rooms and staff are fantastic. Definitely 10/10
Very comfortable room, friendly staff, excellent meals
The location. The bedroom was very small and there was nowhere to store our cases .It felt very claustrophobic with shutters at the window and running condensation in the morning. We could only open the window by climbing on the dressing table.
The bed and bedding and bathroom were excellent
Receptiontist on duty the evening we arrived could not of done more to make up for the poor quality of the room etc. We were offered a sea view room in exchange. On arrival the car park was full of building debris and did not appear a safe place to leave your car ! View from patio door of groty wall oposite, patio door did not work and daylight was visable at the top of the door, lifted and broken tiles outside on walk way, grouting missing in bathroom and shower, tv remote did not work. We expected better quility for the price.
Quick and easy way to book hotel. None
location on beach was fantastic dining room overlooking sea room was too warm
The View The cost of the food
Excellent location, friendly staff, lovely room and great value for money. We had a great weekend at The Glendorgal and hope to return sometime soon.
The hotel was very clean, very well presented, and the staff were superb. We had to change room as there were loose tiles on the floor of our bathroom, but this was done smoothly and pleasantly.
The size of the rooms was very good. The views were amazing. The carpet in our room was very course and hard. And in mid November the room was quite warm.
The guest room, the location & the leisure facilities Restaurant & bar facilities.
From the minute walking in the door, the service was friendly and the lady on reception (forgotten her name....she was pregnant) was amazing and made us feel very welcome. Our first impressions of the room were that it was pretty simple, but very clean. We could just about see the sea through out of the window - which was great as we'd booked a land view room. The facilities of the jacuzzi/pool were included in the price of the stay and we were astounded - it was lovely.
the sea view was stunning. The location and car parking was excellent. The room was clean, bright, comfortable and welcoming. The shower wasn't good. Breakfast was not up to the standard of the hotel. Wifi cost £5 per day...this was not stated in advert.
Views, breakfast and plenty of cofortable seating make this a lovely hotel at good price. All rooms kept warm, a bonus in November, Well within reach of Eden project and Lost Gardens.
Good service, good staff, very nice surroundings. No mini bar in hotel room, however the staff had an exelent and quick room service
comfortable room [ upgraded to a double], spacious bathroom, friendly staff and a smoking room - what a treat !! Would use this hotel again.
Comfort, and staff were very good, food always hot and presented nicely, could not fault it in anyway
the hotel was very comfotable the staff frendly and wellcoming nothing was to much trouble for them ,the room was lovely and clean, cleaning staff frendly and helpful food brillient really enjoyed are stay and will be staying there again thank you all. nothing
Swimming pool, friendly staff The hotel is very tired and needs money spending on it, a lick of paint for a start. The roof terrace was terrible although it could be a feature withy some investment
Location was ideal and room was pleasant Not much buffet choice for breakfast
very helpful staff, good food, nice indoor pool.
Location Not enough lights, breakfast was very poor
indoor pool and jacuzzi
Good breakfast, nice views, hospitality bar a good idea, friendly staff. Small room and very noisy because of traffic.
A very warm welcome on arrival, we stayed in room 11 with a balcony with stuning veiws of the sea and Newquay, breakfast was very good, would stay again.
Views were good, however we had the valley view overlooking a nudist camp. The Mermaid across the road had its advantages too.
The location and staff were excellent. the hearty breakfast was freshly cooked and set us up for the day. Sue and PAul were very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. we would stay again and recommend the Windward. Though it didn't matter to us, guests should be aware that there are no restuarant facilities for evening dining. Nothing
Very relaxed and laid-back: staff very friendly.
Excellent hotel in superb location. Clean and comfortable room and excellent breakfast. Nothing; I wanted to stay more nights!
The bar set-up and breakfast room. Breakfast was god quality and portion size. Tacky room furnishings.
b'fast yummy and staff friendly; aware of environs directing to sight seeing and lovely restaurants
The ease and pleasantness of the owners. the location away from the usual hub-bub of Newquay. the views that were available from front of house. all-in-all an extreemly pleasant time was had by me and my guest from America who went home with very fond memories of her stay.
Staff were very considerate and kind. Views were amazing from majority of the hotels windows. Room was clean and comfortable. Food to order at breakfast was very good and buffet selection was varied. The Terrace provided a good choice of meals with a lovely view of the beach. Dinner menu was a little limited. Room and the food and drink on offer were a little pricey. Didnt receive hotel information and room service menu till last day of stay which was unfortunate as we felt we missed out a little on what the hotel had to offer.
Welcoming and efficient Food was fabulous N / A
Excellent food, staff were always very helpful, view of the sea, every where very clean Spa and swimming pool - not very impressed with, needs updating.
Everything about this hotel was excellent from the very first welcom, the food, staff and the location. Couldn't fault it.
The staff were helpful and courteous, the food was fantastic and the hotel itself was very welcoming and luxurious.
The relaxed atmosphere, great breakfasts and the attentiveness of the catering and reception staff.
Central and easy to find Clean and well presented Friendly and welcoming I only booked a single non en suite room and the room was a little small but perfectly functional for one night and fair value.
Very friendly and helpful Bathroom could have been better
Well-presented, room clean and quiet, helpful staff, excellent breakfast with lots of choice, very fresh. Your booking system that gave me the impression that I had paid up front on making my booking and led to a bit of a misunderstandng with the hotel owner, who was very nice about it and said it's not the first time this has happened.
Nice location, clean facilities, good breakfast Breakfast service a bit slow
a nice and lovely B&B,great room with a wonderful Breakfast None
Friendly and helpful staff. Quite modern rooms. Quiet. Bathroom too dark when sun went in as only one light.
Good breakfast and efficient freindly service
the breakfast room was beautifuly decorated, great choice of breakfast items and staff were friendly and all in uniform. attention to small detail. the ensuite bathroom was small and not as modern as the main room.
Good location, generally friendly staff, nice lounge downstairs. Our bed could have been more comfortable. Felt a bit rushed at breakfast. There was some traffic noise but I took earplugs as had read the reviews.
When we arrived at the hotel we didnt feel welcome at all told our room was 5 and were left to find it for ourselves. Breakfast was until 9.30 and as we were on holiday we went down at 9.15 on the sunday morning we were greeted with smiles however on the monday and tuesday we were treated like a hassle and we both thought the waitress was extremely rude as a waitress myself i thought her behavior towards was extremely unprofresional. I would definatly not stay at this hotel again and would not recommend it. The room was small and cold and the bathroom small we a lot of dampness and mould. All in all a very unpleasant stay.
Charming hotel. Great value, nice friendly staff, delicious food. Loved the lobby area with the view of the beach and comfortable chairs. Easy access to beach. Location was terrific. A larger television with more channels would be nice!
Location. Views. Helpful staff. Very little parking. Poor temperature control made showering nearly impossible.
Great hotel, small but pleasant pool / jaccuzzi area, large, modern bedrooms, large tv (very limited digital chanels), great location litterally overlooking fistral beach & some great out of season deals as well as vastly reduced room rates, ie 50% off restaurant voucher on arrival, buffet breakfast £5.Ideal base for winter golf break if you can get the right deal. Very limited TV chanels, 8 at the most
near to the beach, recommended brekfast menu, every day the same.
As the weather was not very good we used the Bay hotels pool facilities which were great as the pool etc in the Esplanade were very disappointing
The excellent reception staff. I arrived - late - after an unexpected visit to hospital. They couldn't have been more helpful and produced a snack even after the kitchen had closed. Full marks!! The breakfast really was very cold. Cooked at 0630 - 0700 no doubt and left under poor heat lamps till I went for breakfast at 0830. Such a shame!
The cleanliness and the variety of food were the excellent features which appealed. As I am short in height, I did not find the chairs in the lounge very comfortable.
Reception and bar staff were extremely helpful and friendly nothing was too much trouble Room was above function room and music was very loud until midnight and couldn't get to sleep then kept up by the stream of partygoers heading back to their rooms for the next hour. Our room was below a family with young children, very loud and kept us awake and woke us up early morning.
The cleanliness of the rooms was particularly good, and the staff were very friendly and helpful The heating being on was a bit of a pain
The staff were excellent, very friendly and very willing to help in any way The sqeaky floorboards in the hall outside the door.
comfortable, clean and well fitted out rooms.friendly and helpfull staff parking very limited although car park being extended at present
The location was excellent for visiting other areas of Cornwall, providing city shopping, culture and coastal access. The hotel provided very modern, excellent decor & comfortable fbed & furniture. We were very impressed with the overall design. Eating facilities within the hotel complex provided an excellent choice at reasonable prices - we ate in the restaurant both evenings of our stay. The shower/bathroom was nicely designed but we did have a problem when we used the rubber safety mat in the shower. The fitting of the mat for the shower tray was the correct size but it did cover the outlet & if the shower was used on full power water flooded out of the shower tray. A smaller rubber mat would solve this problem.
Beautfiul sea view room (No 11) comfortable and clean. Good breakfast. Excellent location. No
location, meals A few fixtures in the room were falling off
location, clean and tidy I suffer with asthma and had to climb to the top of the stairs, three flights
location and restaurant
Food and service was very good. Room was clean and fresh
view out of the room and the breaksfast
Comfortable, quiet, small
We loved the room which had a beautiful sea view for which we were not charged extra for.
Great location, lovely sea view. Friendly staff and excellent breakfast.
Excellent location, good value for money for a budget holiday!! Nice room and great views
Staff very helpful and cheerful Decor a bit tired; restaurant area needs to be split up
the location of the hotel is good. the staff are friendly loads of space and the food is good. service is good and quite quick
Staff very friendlt and pleasant. Street noise - being next to night club, can't be helped.
The room was spacious, with hot café and tea provided, nice in the cold winter! well located close to the beach and to all the facilities. Restaurant and bar services with a good menu. The room was cold, the heating was switch-off when we arrived in the room (and outside was snowing!). Really really noising during all night, we woke up several time due to the other guest running and chatting in the corridor (didn't understand why the reception don't do something in this case see that they are open 24h)
The Great Western in Newquay had lots of indoor and outdoor seating available with stunning views and centrally located Having booked on line with no reference to the availability of some parking spaces - we arrived with our car for a week only to be told only telephone reservations get a chance to book a space. Why couldn't the website ask you to ring to book a space. We spent the week feeding parking metersin the evening and again by 9am. Not very restful !!!
It is very clean and does not have smell of damp :) Included is the shower gel that helps with dry skin in this dry weather.
The hotel has its own identity and does not have the typical "premier inn" "travelodge" feel of many hotels in this price range. Some might find the rooms a bit dated but we prefer the cosy individual style more appealing. It's very clean and the food in the bar is excellent. Have stayed before and will do so again. Although we were happy with our un-refurbished room, I agree with those reviewers that say that the photos on the site are misleading and can see why people expecting rooms such as those shown would be disappointed.
The Great Western is in the right in the centre of 'Clubbing' Newquay, but is a 10 minute walk away from the town centre so perfect for if you are a fan of Berties and Barracudas! It was gopod value for money and the beds are very comfortable! It has recently been refurbished, so seems very grand when you enter at reception. It needs to have more parking. That was ridiculous how there was only about 10 parking spots! There is no places to park in the centre of Newquay unless you pay in the 'pay and display' car-parks, which as you can guess, are rather pricey in the centre of newquay!
Convience to beach and shops When we first checked into the hotel we were put in a room right above where the trash bids were locared and the smell was awful. The new room we were moved into the shower did not work properly, no water pressure.
polite, friendly staff, spotless accommodation. would like hairdryer in room.
Excellent service. Room was clean, maybe air conditioned in the future as the room was very warm, even though it was wet & chilly outside! Food was also very good. Would stay there again.
All the staff were very welcoming. our rooms were comfortable. the location is excellent. We had planned to have dinner in the hotel but discovered on arrival that there is a jacket and tie dress code for men. I had checked on the hotel web site before our trip and didn't see any mention of this. it would be useful to include in your information. also we had planned to use the pool on sunday morning but it was closed for maintenance. if we had known we would have swum the night before. a little disappointing.
It is breathtakingly overpriced, the service is abysmal and the food inedible
A pleasant welcome from the concierge Attentive staff in the restaurant. Pleasant to have a pianist during dinner The view from my room. overlooking the service area
The lounge looking out to sea. It was very relaxing, the staff were excellent with my elderly mother and her dementia. The food is good value for money. The only thing was the staff questioned me when i took my mother up to my room while i changed for dinner. They wanted to confirm i was the only one staying in the room and was not sneaking my elderly mother in with me, heavens forbid.
Level of service
To be out. Amateurism. Poorly trained staff. Mediocre cleanliness.
The location of the hotel was excellent, near the town and near the sea. The rooms, public areas and facilities at the hotel were first class. Staff were excellent.
poached eggs at breakfast ther was not a spare synthetic pillow in room.
The warm welcome, the fantastic rooms and the lounge facilities. The views from the luxury rooms were great.
This was a well-appointed hotel and conveniently located in Newquay. Newquay itself is convenient for exploring the coast of Cornwall. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and have provided plenty of options for entertainment in the hotel.
Very friendly, extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was generous and very tasty. No
great value for money .first class services .the best
Awesome hosts, beautiful hotel. I have paid a great deal before and not had this standard! Amazing value highly recommended :)
Me and my partner had a wonderful stay at The Quies. As soon as we got there, we were greeted warmly and personally shown around. The room was fantastic, the breakfast was delicious and the service was amazing. There is something to do every day, everything we needed is a short walk away. To top it off the beach is a few minutes down the road! All in all, a fantastic place to stay. No complaints at all.
The staff were lovely and the breakfast was very nice. The room was very clean and value for money. The facilities were great. I cant complain about anything No
free use of Wi-Fi Car parking facilities
Excellent hospitality. The breakfast is huge - keeps you going all day. The en-suite was excellent too. No. A thoroughly enjoyable stay.
the extras offered, such as free use of the internet
Excellent help from staff especially the gentleman on the late night shift who gave me wake up call, toasted me some breakfrast and arranged taxi to airport. No phone in room
Swimming pool, recreational activities, location Not all the rooms have been upgraded yet, drinks service in the restaurant sporadic, lots of 'turkey and tinsel' pensioners
nice hotel good location and good room having to order evening meal at breakfast time
\\Friendly and helpful staff. runnng out of what was on the menue when main chef was off.
Film show provided on Saturday evening! Nice pool. Rooms comfortable, airy and spacious. Table tennis and pool table great for the kids. Quite a long walk into Newquay and limited to choice of places to eat within a short walking distance.
The hotel was easy reach for Newquay and was able to do some lovely walks from there, The 3 course meal was very good value, and the service was good and everyone was very friendly. The hotel was very basic, it was our Ruby wedding felt it would of been nice if there was some music.
I liked the owners, they were friendly and it made all the difference, they would help you in any way. Noise of the people above my room, also had a room at the front of the house which was a main road so could hear the traffic.
The best place in UK
the staff were wonderfull, really friendly and helpfull, due to the fact that there are only a few rooms and its a very quiet hotel i would say its a great place for a romantic weekend. The location could not have been better as it was a stones throw from the beach and various shops, pubs and restaurants.
friendness, relaxedand clean quite
The owners were very friendly and nothing was too much work for them. Made us feel very welcome and everything was very clean. Would recommend it too anyone and will deffinatley be going back again.
lovely staff, family freindly, fantastic breakfasts, warm and cosy in the room and close to shops and sea front. station just 5 mins walk away.my 2 childrens first time in cornwall and want to go back to that hotel tomorrow! nothing when i stayed..
I stayed two nights in a single room and loved it. The owner is very, very sweet and helpful; she did her very best to make everything perfect for me. Breakfast was delicious. The bed was comfortable, the room spotless, and everything was great.
We were made welcome Decor is a bit 'dark'
The owners were very welcoming and friendly. The location was ideal and the breakfast was lovely. Could not fault it.
The people at hotel were very friendly and made us so welcome. No
very friendly and helpful staff decor a little dated
good location not much atmosphere, but staff very friendly
Good sized room.Availability of tea and coffee making facitities in room.Good cooked english breakfast
Please write at least 15 words Room was cold and damp bed had blankets which were dusty stayed on top floor which was dark bed room windows rattled all night with the wind
For all of the above reasons I had booked a smoking room and they were not able to give me one
It was easy to find and the food was very nice. The decoration was attractive too. The staff seemed plesant and helpful. My name is debbie elson - I booked the above room for janice smith who I understand liked her room. I stayed in room 155 booked by ken pearson. My room and especially the bathroom were freezing due to the old draughty windows. Also the bed was very small. I notice some rooms had the windows replaced - the sooner you get the rest done the better!
Location was central
Friendly staff who were very helpful. Lovely room with seaview Nothing at all
My husband and I have stayed at The Bristol for over 30 years. The standard has always been high.
