Nothing - I was unable to make the rental because the hours of the rental car location were a lie.

Cons:

The online hours listed for Budget Car Rental say it is open until 7 pm. However, when I arrived at 4 pm, there were no employees there. I waited for an hour, but no one showed up. I called the location, & it said "all of our employees are busy" - the store hours are a lie.

There was no one at the counter mid-afternoon to receive my car. I waited for 20 minutes and then left my Budget key in the dropbox even though the box was only marked for Avis, not Budget.

Ease of dropping off the car. Simply pulled into the lot adjacent to the terminal, parked, and dropped keys at counter.

Cons:

The agent’s attitude when I mentioned that I was expecting a discount for returning the vehicle with more gasoline then when I picked it up. He immediately said that was not possible; even though, I was told differently by a Budget representative when I called the company’s customer service line earlier in the day. He also did not seem interested in my concerns regarding the cleanliness of the vehicle I noticed shortly after picking up the vehicle.

The car given to me had very bad brakes and I was unable to drive the car. I took it back the next morning and they refused to give me a full refund for the car. It wasn't even the car I had intended to rent! The service was horrible at the counter and they didn't even have the car I wanted to rent. The customer sevice with Budget has been awful. I am still fighting to get my refund for the one day I did not even drive the car!!!

The ease of the rental was great. No issues, got me into the car I reserved. The manager, Dimitri, was polite and attentive to my needs. Car was clean and they serviced it for me before taking it to ensure the were no issues.

I was able to choose the exact car I wanted and was even able to reserve a cooler and boogie board to use for the week. The car was in like-new condition. The free shuttle was convenient, fast and the drivers were nice. The location was a little bit further from the airport, but it wasn't a problem.

It was the first time we rented via Turo, so I don't have a good base reference to compare in general, and can only compare to car rental experiences with commercial fleets (like Budget or Enterprise). In general it was okay -- we made it to where we were going and back, with no major issues. It's doable. However, there were some "surprises" where things didn't quite got as we expected: * We made rental reservation with expectation that we're picking up at the airport. When we got there, it turned out that the car is not at the airport, and the address given to us turned out to be what seemed to be Portland's airport Fire Rescue Tower (where, obviously, we can't even walk to or be at). We called the owner, and turned out that the car is at some house that's "not far" from the airport, and gave us new address. So additional expense of taking Uber/Lyft to get to the car (and apparently that address exists in two neighboring towns, and somehow Uber/Lyft took us first to the wrong one, so we had to take another ride, but that's not a Turo issue, just more expense as a consequence of car not being at the airport as promised). * When we got there, we called the owner to get the keys: "-- Keys are under front door's floormat. -- Nope, they're not there. -- Then try mailbox? -- Yes, they're there." The owner wasn't there, which is okay to do this all remote, but would be nicer if owner was in general "on top of things" such as where the car is and where it is expected to be picked up, where exactly are its keys, etc. * Then owner requested that prior to return we take the car to be washed and cleaned inside and out. We neither planned on looking for car detailing places in Portland, nor for time that it would take away from sightseeing, nor for extra substantial expense it would be. We pushed back and the owner backed off saying that he'll let it go due to confusion with pickup location (and apparently he didn't send some email that he was supposed to send, or something along those lines). * And while the car wasn't too dirty, it wasn't clean to begin with (which made detailing request that more amusingly odd). Crumbs on floor and seats and luggage compartment. Worst part was that windshield was dirty on the inside that was minor unpleasant at daytime, but as driving progressed into night time, it was quite significant as it was blurring lights and affected visibility substantially. * We also added additional driver thru Turo and let the owner know. The owner requested that we send him picture of drivers license directly to him. We refused (as it didn't seem right, given that Turo is the one that manages that aspect) and he backed off. * Of course, additional expense of Uber/Lyft after return drop-off as we weren't dropping it off at the airport as originally planned. So all in all we probably spent additional $50-60 in Uber/Lyft for getting to and from cars location instead of it being in the airport, and lost about 3+ hours for dealing with additional unplanned travel. The rest was okay. Car drove fine and didn't give any problems.
