They holler every time, “SIR YOU’RE GONNA HAVE TO CHECK THAT” $6,000 worth of equipment to make space for someone’s socks. (?!?!) Today, I boarded TWO delta flights and was told, “see if it fits... if not, we can gate check it for you...” YES!!! That’s all I ask!!! Just let me TRY first! If it doesn’t fit, THEN I can’t complain! Anyway, sorry for the saga! I just want to say THANK YOU! I had peace of mind ALL day! Keep up the great work! Your staff is outstanding!!"

Cons: "The vents above my entire row of seats did not work, meaning there was never any air coming out even when they were fully open. This made for a long, hot, claustrophobic ride. The flight attendants seemed first disbelieving and later unconcerned that no air came out of our vents. I doubt they even reported them as broken after the flight. Delta's new boarding process is absolute chaos. More than half the plane had no seats assigned until 20 minutes before boarding, and the seats were displayed on a screen a good 25 feet away from the gate, meaning people had to constantly walk back and forth between the doorway and the screen. The gate agents were clearly overwhelmed. If this is how Delta is organized now, I won't be flying on them again."

Thank goodness for their app as i was able to.change my flight with the My Delta app. Also they had overbooked the flight and rather than giving assurance to people just told us to wait and "line up orderly"."
Pros: "GRU to ATL to LEX - all was fine. The plane from GRU to ATL was one of the nicer jets I have ridden in. The ratings above reflect my overall trip of going to Sao Paulo and returning to Lexington, even though the first part had to be re-booked on United."
Cons: "LEX to ATL to GRU did NOT happen because the LEX flights were delayed to the point of missing the ATL connection. While Delta re-booked me on United, my flight arrived 3 hours later than scheduled (so transportation plans had to change), my bag did not successfully move from the Delta flight to the United flight (and was thus delayed in getting to GRU) AND once the bag was received, 4 shirts had been stolen. While a delay/theft claim has been filed with United, this could all have been avoided if the Delta flights had been on time."

Staff was just miserable. Business class seat had malfunctioning tray table, unable to use.
Second leg of the flight was delayed - the copilot apparently injured his back as he left his hotel, and tried to continue with the flight but couldn't. That's not so bad... the issue is that AA had no backup plan. For such a large airport (Miami) you'd think AA would have a plan to cover such issues... but they didn't. So, we got held up for almost 3 hours while they looked for another copilot. Of course, when it's less than 3 hours, passengers get no compensation for AA's screwup. It's a terrible situation for passengers, but it's the crappy deal we have. On the other hand, the gate crew was great... they tried to keep us informed for the most part. My wife had to go up and ask a few times, but they were good about telling her the status honestly, which is greatly appreciated. They should have been more proactive about this, but at least they gave the info, so that's appreciated. Bottom line, that's the only real positive on this trip... hence the second star... the rest of the issues would have garnered a 1-star review.

They skipped our row when offering drinks & snacks, when my seat mate asked for some of the biscotti the attendant questioned her asking if she was sure she hadn’t already already had one. Final small thing was the latch on the try table was not working correctly. In a nut shell, not worth the extra money that was paid."

Cons: "1) American's boarding process seems to be driven by ticket price and nothing else. Every other airline I've been with boards families with small children first. It lets those families and get on board and get setup so that they don't block aisle access for everyone else. American seems to board based on how expensive your ticket was. So, the aisles get blocked and boarding takes forever. 2) The cabin crew gave pretty apathetic service. When our baby threw up on us, they just told us to go clean ourselves up in the bathrooms. They gave us a can of soda water to help clean up, but that was about it. 3) When my wife asked if the bread was dairy free (for our baby with a dairy allergy), the staff's response was to turn to another staff member and ask them, "Do you want to go back and research that?" In the end they just told us they didn't have time to look it up."

Cons: "Almost missed our flight home because American Airlines lost/screwed up our round trip tickets. We were not able to check in quickly or efficiently, & service was appalling, staff was either poorly trained or uneducated. We tried using the kiosk to check in, to avoid the long line. That didn’t work, so we found help. They told us to retry, wasting time, finding out what we had already informed them of. They passed us off to another gate/service counter, who’s line was closed off. So we had to duck the divider. They then redirected us to the kiosks after we informed them it couldn’t find our reservations, so they tried (wasted more time) failed & sent us back to the line we were already in. After that wait we talked to the person at the desk, who also couldn’t find our reservation. They said “I don’t know it’s not in here, what do you want me to do?” I had to tell them to call a manager to get it fixed, we were going to miss our flight. They called & found the problem, then at 3:15ish reissued us tickets for our 3:30 return flight. Still had to get through TSA! There was also NO phone call to hold the plane or to arrange an airport people mover cart. They talked with the TSA agent who told us to go 2 checkpoints down where the line was shorter. So the American Airlines attendant told us to run. Turns out in Miami Airport there is almost a quarter mile of poorly labeled counter space. Went through TSA having 12 min before our reassigned flight left. TSA was helpful, & did their best to get us through quickly. We were then informed we were near gate 22 & our gate was 3, so rushing down another concourse we barely made our return flight home. Where we were forced to check our carry-on. My girlfriend was crying, we were sweaty (from hustling when we never should of had too), hungry, embarrassed, enraged, & not sitting together for our 3+ hr flight! Unacceptable after a 4hr drive to the airport in traffic & returning the rental car at 1:40!"

They took our plane out of service (which I get, I would want brakes before takeoff), but then they never updated us on our status, until I physically went to the counter to ask an hour later. This is when they informed me that the flight was cancelled and we were rebooked on the 9pm flight (Mind you, this is 12:30p and I have a 2 year old with me). Luckily, I was able to book JetBlue and get home earlier (8:00pm)"

Instead of letting me, and another passenger with the same situation as mine, let us know why the gate was closed 10 minutes prior to departure was rude and brusque and said sorry, nothing could be done. A simple explanation of why we couldn't board would have gone a long way. She finally barked out for us to go to Customer Service to re-route us. Customer Service was very slow and the agents had attitudes. I did get on an AA flight the next morning, including comp vouchers for dinner and breakfast, but I missed an entire day of the conference I was attending in Boston."

I was told that I could pay more and more up to row 25, but that all the lower rows were full. When I asked the service rep to refund the difference, I was told I had to fill out a form online. I was told there are no humans with whom a customer can speak that can process a refund."
Wow!! Flying for me will never be the same!!! Best flight ever!! Only improvement would’ve been…the waterline broke which I realize can happen. The steak wasn’t very good but doable with the sauce on it. Extra pillows would’ve been nice for those that needed it. Other than that, it was an amazing experience! Our flight attendant Roberta treated us like our mom. She helped my son fix his bed. She babied us all…just want you want on an 8 hour flight. The pods that lie flat were so comfortable. The lighting coming back up gradually in the morning…perfect!

There was one passenger in particular who was yelling, swearing and causing a scene because of the flight delay. His rude behavior was rewarded with an upgrade to first class. The message this sends to your passsengers is that we should all be loud and obnoxious when problems arise. I was not impressed with my first experience with BA."

It's pretty much standard across carriers now to have at least internet access and a portable device entertainment option. I also did not enjoy paying for even the most basic beverages on the flight. Coffee, tea, and soft drinks should be included. You'll save a pound, but lose a customer."

Not having to deal with cash for purchases saves the hassle for attendants, but the credit card machine did not work, there was no alternative machine to try after I was told "we have been having some issues", and as a result I was unable to have anything. The associate seemed unconcerned and unapologetic and simply walked away. Poor response."

Also, this is not the airline's fault, but the woman sitting next to me was wearing an excessive amount of perfume, which gave me a headache. I think the airline should make recommendations for passengers not to be heavily scented. As a physician, I worry about patients with RADS (reactive airways dysfunction syndrome) who can develop bronchospasm if exposed to individuals wearing lots of perfume, and a plane is an enclosed space."

Cons: "I am an experienced traveler. I've been to 17 countries and have flown over a million miles in both business and coach. My wife encountered a problem in Istanbul that involved an airport transit visa through Canada. I am certain that any other airline we’ve ever flown would’ve assisted us, since it was easily resolved. To Turkish Airlines, this is simply a part of their business model and a chance to make more money. It took about 8 hours of our time at 5 different airport locations to eventually buy new tickets to get back the next day. Our original tickets say: “REISSUE With 200.00 USD penalty. What I didn’t see was the fine print at the bottom: “Turkish Airlines reserves the right to change rules regarding ticket changes and refunds.”. They mean it. As bad as our personal experience was, the real reason we are so appalled is that we were there long enough to see this is the norm for them. In our single day there, we saw at least 100 other travelers going through similar things. The ONLY solution ever offered is to purchase another ticket. We witnessed several people weeping. Many losing control and shouting. Their own personnel were screaming at customers (in a separate office area though, it was all yucks and laughing). These were people of all nationalities. Africans, Asians, Europeans. We were lucky because we had the means to purchase new tickets. Others clearly didn’t. I really don’t know what happened to some of them. One moment was very symbolic of the entire experience. Another vanquished traveler was paying $843 for a new ticket with cash. He handed her $845 but she, of course, had no change. Instead of the $5, he gave her two $1 bills. I had one in my pocket so gave it to her as well. She held my $1 bill up and pointed to the corner which had a very small piece torn off…no ink was missing…and sneered “I can’t accept this. She did this simply because she could. We were powerless. She knew it and reveled in it."

On our return flight we were delayed on the tarmac for over an hour with no air conditioning, they originally said they were waiting for a signature but then said that there was something wrong with the engines that help us take off, then the cabin filled with a fuel smell, then they said they had brought the wrong item for the repair and we were waiting for the correct one. When we finally took off my husband's screen didn't work yet again and this was a 9 hour flight. The flight attendant said that some of the screens hadn't worked for a while ( probably cheaper to hand out useless discounts than to fix them.). We received another 10% off card, which we cannot combine or transfer, again useless. We missed our connection because of the delay, they booked us on another flight but because they didn't tell us that we had to pick up our luggage or where (it was on a different carousel than the rest of the luggage from our flight) and that we had to go through customs we (and many others) missed that flight too. We finally got a flight out the next morning and they put us up at a hotel. We both had to miss another day of work and it was quite an ordeal. My husband's screen worked for almost all of that last flight before it seized up. We didn't bother to report it that time since another 10% off coupon wasn't going to do us any good. Overall it is concerning that Air Canada doesn't seem to be maintaining their planes in optimal condition and that their idea of compensation involves them making even more money from me. Never again."

Cons: "I was originally flying WestJet, and the 7:05 AM flight I booked was cancelled. I hopped online and booked the 8:10 AM flight via Air Canada back to Boston. First, the flight was oversold, so only AFTER I was able to check my bag did I learn that I was flying stand-by. Completely nerve wracking. If I had known in advance I would have booked with another airline. I was able to get on the flight thanks to some volunteers who gave up their seats on the 8:10 AM flight for the next flight out (10:10 AM) in return for some monetary compensation. I arrived in Boston, and after waiting for 45 minutes, I learned my bag was put on the 10:10 AM flight rather than the 10:10 AM flight, but only after dealing with a snappy and disrespectful check-in attendant that seemed to not believe me that my bags indeed did not arrive. The office for baggage services for Air Canada was vacant and locked next to the carousel. Myself and a couple of other travelers, upon getting to the check-in counter and explaining the situation mistakenly lumped us all together and said "okay so you're all traveling together and your bags need to go the same place". Me: "No, that's incorrect, we are not related or traveling together, we just all have the same issue--none of our bags have arrived". Other Air Canada representative, who up to this point had not been involved in the exchange: "She didn't ask you if you were related, she asked you if your bags were lost" and then proceeded to roll her eyes and walk away from the counter. I suppose she misinterpreted my concern for rudeness and felt the need to put me in my place. Granted, my early morning flight cancellation and the stress associated with flying standby had nothing to do with them, but the attitude I was given as a concerned traveler whose bag was potentially lost was completely unwarranted. Compounded with the frustration of the entire morning I cannot describe how infuriating this exchange added up to being. I was told my bag would be delivered to my home by 4 PM that day. No bag. Got a phone call at 7 PM - they'd be there in the next hour. 10:00 PM and going to bed: No bag. I gave up and prepared to make a claim in the morning. 8:30 AM Sunday morning - my bag is sitting on my front porch wrapped in a trash bag. What a fiasco."

I had to stay in Vancouver over night and my husband had to pick me up in Campbell River. This meant a car drive to and back Campbell River of six hours instead of one hour to Port Hardy."

When we went to rebound, my wife I am were separated. We were moved to the way back (screaming baby sandwich - one in front and one behind us). Then we spent an hour in the worst turbulence I’ve seen in 20 years - I nearly vomited. the last 6 hours of this 15 hour ordeal were fine."

The seating is so tight, I could barely move my legs when the seat in front of me was reclined (and I am tiny!) I landed after my connecting flight was already boarded, causing an employee from the airline to announce my name over the intercom on the plane and tell the passengers to "clear a lane for me." I ran with my suitcase over my head, bumping into people and making it to my next gate...where I was told there was ABSOLUTELY NO ROOM for my carry on...which was also, very tiny. I specifically did not want to check my bag because I needed to immediately hop off the plane to make it to work on time. Another customer was VERY upset about having to check his bag and was pulled aside. I finally was told I needed to check my bag at the gate to get on. So i did. As I entered the plane, about half of it was COMPLETELY empty with PLENTY of room. I was floored. About 10 minutes later, the very angry man happily entered with his carry on and stored it easily in the overhead bin. My frustration was at a peak. But I said nothing. When I arrived to Newark, I rushed to baggage claim and guess what? After 30 minutes of waiting, my bag never showed up. I had to check in with information and finally found it. But this caused to me to be late for work. I have usually had a great experience with United. But this experience has changed my mind completely and am very upset."

Cons: "While on the plane at the gate, had to wait 20 mins for someone to hang my jacket (had to ask and the person came back 5 mins later) despite the fact that the attendant immediately checked on the guy next to me when he sat down, who apparently had status with United (attendant ignored me). I guess a $7,000 fare doesn't warrant special attention. I had to ask the same attendant for other items at times, but he'd forget and I'd have to ask someone else. Also, the seats were decent yet a bit crowded IMHO. I'm 5'10" and my feet were crammed up against the front of the space when fully reclined. The width of the seat area was a bit tight as well. Finally, they have 2 heads (toilets) that serve both the business class section ( maybe 50 people) as well as the front of economy. One of the pilots was waiting at the same time as me and agreed that it was a pretty questionable layout for the number of seats covered. All in all, not my favorite airline and nothing on this trip so far changed that view."

Cons: "The plane was a small plane and we had to disembark on the tarmac. There were two attendants with wheelchairs but they didn't have my name so I walked on. The flight attendant called to me and said to wait. One of the attendants came up with a wheelchair and said he would take me. Unfortunately, a steep ramp had to be used to get into the airport building. He asked another worker to help him and all the way up the ramp I had to listen to comments about "good thing they had eaten their Wheaties" and "they were getting a good workout." I know that I am not a small person, but these ongoing comments were rude and insulting. When we got into the gate the attendant told me that he didn't have my name on his list and had to call for permission to take me through the airport. I waited and he came back and said he couldn't take me, but if I could wait someone else could come for me. I had waited enough already and suffered their rude comments, so I said no thanks and walked slowly through the airport. This experience has left me with a bad feeling for the airline and its personnel. I believe their staff could use sensitivity training at the very least!"
