Copa charged us $150 per ticket cancellation fee and remainder was provided as a credit on Copa Airlines. Copa will not refund the ticket cost. This was a special once-in-a-lifetime trip with friends. Not likely that we will make another attempt to fly to Quito or anywhere else Copa flies, so we have a 100% loss."
Cons: "I had an earlier flight that was delayed which caused me to get to the counter 50 minutes before my flight left. The attendant at the counter told me there was nothing he could do and that I needed to call Copa’s reservation number, which he couldn’t even give me he said I needed to look it up myself. Then before I had even called the reservation line he said he was closing the ticket counter and wouldn’t be back until 9:30. I called the reservation line who said that there was nothing they could do because my flight hadn’t even left yet and that I needed to talk to the attendant who had already left. I then waiting over 2 hours for the ticket counter to reopen only to be told that all of my flights through Copa had been cancelled and that I would need to pay almost $2000 just to get on different flights. I ended up having to use a completely different airline and spend an additional $1000 because Copa would not help and was extremely rude. This was the first time I would have flown Copa and I will never fly with them again."
Cons: "My husband and I went to Panama specifically to go on a surf trip. Our surfboard bag containing three surfboards did not arrive at the Panama City airport until 3 days after we arrived. It entailed multiple phone calls and many trips to and from the airport before we got our surf boards. The COPA baggage people kept telling us they would call with updates as to when the board bag was going to arrive but they never did. We had to stay in an expensive hotel for three days in Panama City, which we didn't plan to stay in the city at all."

We deboarded and walked down a couple of gates and were boarding our flight to Lima in 15 minutes. I would recommend Copa at anytime. Our price was incredible and we got SO much more than we paid for which is unusual today."

On my way to Mexico they required that I show proof that I had a flight leaving Mexico. I did, on another airline, and I couldn't access my email to prove it so they would not let me board the flight., Again there is NO requirement to prove my returning flight, I had to pay a change fee to board the flight the following day, I lost a day of my vacation, because of the airline requirements THAT NO OTHER AIRLINE requires."

So ridiculous because my bag absolutely fit and meets the checked baggage size for most all planes including United/copa. She was so rude in her delivery of the information which was uncalled for. Quick flight but drink and snack service didn't get started until very late. Last 5-6 rows didn't get served. Flight attendants seemed off their game. Not super friendly, snappy, and they were very rushed. Tons of turbulence and not a lot of context given from the captain on what was going on. Happy to get off the flight safely but quickly; I wasn't a fan."

Apparently you need to show up to the airport 3 hours before your flight in order to check-in as the desk staff transition to the plane and there will be no one to assist you if arrive later than that. I was flabbergasted that I was unable to make my flight despite being at the airport nearly 1.5 hours before departure due to a staffing issue."

And I wanted to sit next to a friend from Mexico City to Lima so that seat change was really mean. Once one the plane the man in my original seat got an upgrade so I got to sit next to my friend about half way through the flight when she came to tell me about the empty seat when she came to the back of the plane to use the bathroom."

Called Aeromexico and they said I had to send email to customer service. It has been 12 days and still have not received a response to my inquiry."

In the mean time the gate changed (I was never notified) and they boarded in less than ten minutes. Furthermore when I went to the gate agent to ask what happened I had never before been greeted from someone so rude and lacking empathy. I can't believe this person was in customer service. She was short, had one word responses for me, and offered no solutions to the predicament they had put me in by delaying my flight and then expedite boarding. When I finally spoke to her manager, he was helpful and a normal human. The gate agent should work in a stock room where she doesn't have to deal with humans."

Cons: "I understand that spirit is a cheap airlines particularly serving those without luggage; however, when having luggage I spent $200 for a flight to pdx to lax - not a good deal. $200 for that flight should come with some kind of incredible perks which is not the case with spirit where you don't even get proper flight updates on the screen or tray tables. Also, it is clear that your airlines prey on those who follow directions as I saw handfuls of people walking through the gate with their luggage and not being charged, my boyfriend/travel companion for example paid nothing for his luggage, disregarded all memos via loud speaker and walked on with his unpaid for luggage. The experience with spirit was undesirable in every way and I will never chose this airline over another (luggage in hard or not) after the poor experience and being completely ripped off. I plan to share this message with social media and yelp sites as well."

Cons: "Everything was awful from the way they handled bags, to the communication about delays, to the delays themselves, to the failure to take care of passengers given the long delays. Before signing up for a Spirit flight, make sure you add the cost of checking carry-on bag, getting a seat assignment, getting any water during flight, boarding (yes they up charge for boarding). Then, make sure you factor in the small size of the airline which makes it far, far more vulnerable to weather delays - fewer planes, fewer pilots, fewer re-routes available. Also, add at least an hour to the end of each flight to get your bags if you do check them. So, you don't save money or time, and you're very vulnerable to weather and mechanical. With their organization this bad, I can only imagine how weak their mechanical is."

Cons: "Boarding was confusing, there were too many people whose zone wasn't called waiting around the entry way. This crowd appeared to be the line but in fact wasn't. No Spirit employee was around to help avoid it. This wasn't a real big deal but some airlines avoid it with a simple announcement, asking those who haven't been called to remain seated. I would suggest Spirit does something similar. I don't like all the extra charges, for example for a second carry-on, but I get it, it's your way of offering cheap flights. I gave the food and entertainment only 3 stars just because of the charge, I didn't actually purchase anything."
