Your guide to booking Lima flights

From booking to airport arrival, find tips to help you plan your flight with more confidence.
  • For the best chance at a low fare to Lima, aim to book around 5 weeks before you fly. That window historically saves about 9% versus last-minute pricing based on KAYAK booking data over the last 12 months.
  • For flights to Lima, recent KAYAK data shows that stronger deals tend to land around $525 round-trip. If you see a fare below that threshold, it's a strong deal – book before the price climbs back up.
  • If you can choose when to go, time your trip to Lima around January. Round-trip fares historically average $594 that month – typically the cheapest month to travel based on the last 12 months.
  • Before you book:

    • Check the route's typical price range so you can spot a deal.
    • Confirm baggage fees and seat-selection costs on budget carriers.
    • Verify whether you need any travel documents beyond ID.
    • Pick a departure airport, since your nearest may not be the cheapest origin.
  • Shift your departure to afternoon to save up to $54 per round-trip. Afternoon flights to Lima average $696 compared to $750 for evening flights. See the time-of-day chart above for the full breakdown.
  • Bag allowances vary by airline, fare type, cabin class and route. On flights to Lima, some airlines may include bags at no extra cost. For example, LATAM Airlines includes a cabin bag and a checked bag in Economy Class, Sky Airline includes a cabin bag and a checked bag in Economy Class and United Airlines includes a cabin bag and a checked bag in Economy Class. Always check the fare details before booking, since bag policies can change by ticket type.
  • Once you arrive in Lima, a few great places to start are Larcomar, National Stadium and Estadio Universidad San Marcos. These are popular with first-time visitors and can give you a good feel for the area.
  • If you're making a short stopover in Lima as part of a longer journey, you have the option to store your luggage at the airport while you explore the area. Luggage storage lockers are located outside the International Arrivals area. Luggage storage costs S/6.50 ($2 USD) per hour and S/39 ($13 USD) per day per item. Prices are lower if you store your luggage for longer periods of time or if you have multiple items to store. They only accept cash payments in USD or PEN.
  • The chapel at Jorge Chavez International Airport (LIM) is situated on the second floor in the International Arrivals area. It provides a peaceful space for travelers to pray, meditate, or relax while on their journey.
  • Shopping before departing from Jorge Chavez International Airport (LIM) is convenient. On the second floor of the airport, you'll discover Peru Plaza, offering a wide selection of both local and international chains. Here, you can find typical Peruvian crafts, including alpaca clothing, leather goods, silver and gold jewelry, as well as popular food items like chocolate and coffee. Additionally, you can explore modern fashion items adorned with traditional Peruvian decorations.
  • Dining at Jorge Chavez International Airport is also not a problem. The shopping area includes a food court featuring well-known brands like McDonald’s and Starbucks, along with local restaurants that serve traditional Peruvian cuisine. Why not savor some typical Peruvian dishes while waiting for your flight?
  • If you have a long stopover in Lima and want to learn more about the country, consider visiting the Museo Larco. It's located just 4.7 miles from the airport and is renowned for its extensive collection of pre-Columbian Peruvian jewelry, all crafted in gold or silver and adorned with semi-precious stones.
  • As Jorge Chavez International Airport (LIM) is the main passenger hub serving Lima, Peru, chances are your flight to Lima will land there. The airport is located in Callao, a small town only 7 miles from Lima and 11 miles from the port city of Miraflores, and it serves both domestic and international routes.

They announced a mechanical issue prior to boarding Said it was fixed, we boarded Waited Then learned it was not fixed Had to deplane and go to new gate Bought wifi on plane and it never worked

The plane was a rather tired 737-800, with old style small luggage bins. Poor air flow. USB charger in the infotainment system was not functioning. The flight was 2 hours late due to crew rest requirements (not their fault). On arrival in Seattle, waited on the tarmac for 30 minutes with very few updates from the crew.

Flight was delayed and we were on the runway after landing for 30 mins

The plane is old. There was water dripping fown from the air cooling system. The toilets were mot that clean

We were delayed so pilots can rest and had no WiFi the whole trip. First class seats are small compared to other planes

The experience was bad. Flight was delayed to handle maintenance (understandable) but still there was some dew forming and dropping as droplets on few seats. Internet at best was allowing some browsing but at a snail pace.

We were delayed 2 hours because of a broken seat. Other than that it was a very nice flight.

There needs to be better accommodations for waiting passengers. A a designated standing space that is separated and away from concourse traffic.

My seats are comfortable because I choose to fly in the exit rows and this time upgraded to first class with minimum sky miles. Otherwise, I would not be happy in regular seats or even middle comfort seats. Onboarding on the return flight from Nashville to Atlanta was hot and very uncomfortable for over 30 minutes due to extreme hot weather. However, Delta should provide some other air flow option as it was almost unbearable until 10 minutes after take-off. First class seats should be equipped with cup holders. Currently, the middle console is used and is flat and prone to spilling drinks.

This was a Latam operated flight. Seats seemed a bit narrow in business class. Older aircraft.

We where skipped for this flight will not head to Panama until tonight..

There should be a warning regarding the quality of the aircraft on the website as we reserve the tickets. There was no TV or any type of screen onboard. The wifi they offer is good for nothing. Traveling 9 hours straight with kids and no type of entetainment was horrible. I wish I had been informed prior so I could buy a ticket with another airline. The food was a joke too. A very tiny portion per passenger. They also charged $100 per checked bag. With United I used to pay $60. So, fair to say that I wont be flying Copa anymore. Their aircraft was super old, outdated, no entertainment, with nearly no onboard food.

Very strict carry on rules meant most of the plane had to gate check their luggage. As is often the case had things that were broken because of this, but I appreciated not being charged to gate check. Otherwise good flight and great crew once on the plane

I liked the meatloaf the chicken was awful but the plane was on time and got there and the staff was nice.

Boarding was quick & efficient; they gave boarding groups due priority; staff & air crew were very cordial and helpful, pleasant flight.

Very happy with my flight. I would definitely recommend it.

Did upgrade, travel in business it was great (more room I could sleep)

Placed us in the last rear row of the plane so could not recline seats because of the rear wall, and also made it more of a tight space when the passenger in front reclined their seat. While understand seat assignments, every passenger should be afforded a reclining seat. The odor control scent from the restrooms was overwhelming strong. My wife and I could not deal with it, and she suffered a terrible headache as a result. I kept getting hit by the crew since I was on the ilse seat. No apologies, nothing. They made me feel like I was supposed to take the beating for a 3 hr flight.

There was no individual at the front check in when I arrived. I waited for at least 15 minutes and walked around asking security/janitors if they could help and they did not have a solution. So I had to take my checked bag through security and they threw away some of my items. I ended up making it to the gate only a few minutes before it closed due to my waiting for an agent at check in.

It would have been better if they don't separate families in seating. We were seated in the aile row in the middle of a family of four. It would have been better if they they seat the family of four together than separated.

Putting someone with a window seat in the last boarding group? Indiocy typical of Latam.

4 hour delay. So our flight schedule mass up. Your worker told me you should rebooking myself. I was very angry. Latam Airline always get the money more through any way. But They have no concern passenger.

Latam may be the worst airline in the world, far worse than even the lowest of low cost airlines in the USA. I wasted hours trying to PAY THEM TO CHECK A BAG! Then they misled me at the terminal, sent me through the wrong security line, the list goes on and on... Just absolutely terrible in every way. Avoid at all costs.

I was in the last row and they sent me to check in my luggage last minute after boarding. I had to go through the crowd.

Although the flight is goof and the crew is good, the way the airline charges you for every service is ridiculous.

Only complaint is that the entertainment system wasn’t working on our seats and some others.

Routine and on time flight with pleasant stewards and decent food. Nice experience!

You delayed my trip three days for no reason other than your lack of preparedness, did not offer any compensation, including food or a bed. I couldn’t trust you so I moved up my return flight and lost another day at the end of my trip to hopefully make sure I make my next flight. I will never fly LATAM again. You have the worse accountability and reliability and clearly do not care that your clients have lives and what it cost to fly to another country.

No air in the middle rows. Had a hard time breathing. Was dying of heat.

It was a good experience, the flight was a little too long & the food was ok

We were delayed in CLT for 4 hours for mechanical issues resulting in us not leaving till 1:30AM and landing at 2:30 AM, so getting home at 4AM. The crew at the desk had no answers and provided very little information. I received a food voucher via email/app however there were no food places open. Even the walk up and scan your own places did not accept the QR code. I know mechanical issues occur but better communication would have made an unfortunate situation less frustrating.

The first leg of my trip from Dallas to CLT was smooth from check-in to landing. The snack, biscott cookie really needs an upgrade. Even if the upgrade is a choice of the cookie or pretzels.

If the service crew didn't make difference between people and they change my seat without asking me if is okay or not with me

For super long flights Premium Economy is the way to go. But the lack of WIFI onboard (don't you think it should be free on a 14 hour flight?) and the sparse personal entertainment selection made this the biggest detractors. Also, can we keep that map from flashing in our faces the whole trip there? Jesus Christ.

Great for a small Commuter. Quiet and relaxing. Seats were better than most.

The plane was late getting to Ontario by half an hour which makes it inconvenient when you have people waiting for you.

Luggage handling and communication is extremely poor. I landed in india 15th and recived luggage today. Based on my itag the luggage was in Germany. They kept me in dark. Etihad num er in india was non operatuonal. Had to call USA etihad. It should not be so difficullt. I came for 1 week business trip everything was screwed . This is the first and also will be last for me

There was no service on the flight even though there was no turbulence or any other issues on the flight. Nobody greeted at the entry or leaving the airplane, staff crew looked annoyed and not helpful at all.

I would have liked a pillow. The vegetarian wrap and oaten cake was good.

Nice modern plane. Can use your own device for entertainment. Get a snack on the plane.

I like the attention you gave us in Guatemala due to the loss of the flight coming to El Salvador. It was a nice experience. Thanks a lot

We booked seats next to each other. When we got the boarding passes, they were for different rows. The crew were reluctant to help us, so we ended up sitting separately. 1. What’s the point of reserving by seat number if you’re not going to honor that reservation? 2. Even if it gets messed up between reservation and boarding, how is the crew going to deny us the opportunity to arrange to sit together. There were plenty of people flying alone. It could’ve been easily accommodated. Not very customer-friendly at all.

The seats were the worst I have ever flown Too narrow, did not recline and the actual seat was hard as a rock. I will tell all travelers to stay away from Avianca flights.

The worst experience I've ever had because the "people" @ Avianca wouldn't let me fly because they said I needed a round trip ticket

Seating was tight. Seats don't recline. Initial flight was cancelled. Lost two days of vacation.

It was delayed and I lost my connection flight to Cali and I missed my Mom's funeral

I upgraded to businesses class. Because of that the flight was comfortable.

I actually upgraded to the medium level of seats from basic and even doing that it may have been physically the most uncomfortable flight I have ever had. They packed everyone like is a train to death camp. It was a red eye so I hoped to get some sleep but it was physically impossible to find a comfortable way to rest. I met other folks on the same flight and they said the same thing. It was an utterly miserable flight and if I have any other options I will never fly with them again

Deplaning was a mess, I sat in business (seats are horrible) and the front door had a problem so we had to deplane from the rear exit. The stairs were not tall enough to reach so there was a large step down from the plane to the top of the stairs.

I paid over $200 for seat selection for these flights and I was still stuck on long international flights in seats that do not recline and do not have the head support cushion. At this point basically all airlines have those for all seats, and this really took me by surprise and made me not ever want to travel on Avianca. The Kayak agent who called me for the seat selection (Donovan) was courteous, but it seems the system for this doesn't work. I was offered seat selection, for the $200+, but without being able to see what I was selecting, with no guarantee where I'd be...and then I still ended up in terrible seats. On my way to, and especially after, a very intense business trip, the seat situation really soured my experience.
