"Annoying that every short flight is delayed over 40 minutes consistently . Why am i taking a 1 hour flight when it becomes two hours plus airport and uber time? Maybe we should all just drive??"

Cons: "Too many people on flight during Covid"
Cons: "Too many people on one flight for a while pandemic to be happening Smh"
Pros: "Crew inside the plane was friendly and warm, particularly Craig. Very inviting and reassuring."
Cons: "The almost 2-hour delay and gate change due to “airplane maintenance” was terrible. It did not feel as if the guests were going to be accommodated. They made few announcements about it."
Cons: "Despite the delay of almost 3 hours (which we were informed much earlier than getting to the airport at) the plane was 40% empty so can’t complain at the end of the day"
Cons: "The customer service at LAX was horrible. The workers seemed to lack people skills and it everyone in line noticed it."
Cons: "Movie selection was minimal at best and my tv screen kept malfunctioning. Volume and brightness would turn all the way up or just shut off completely"
Pros: "Nice crew, nice plane"
Pros: "It was a smooth flight"
Cons: "More food options"
Pros: "The crew was very friendly and helpful. It was a red eye flight and they were extremely accommodating to letting everyone try to rest."
Cons: "The only thing that could have been better was laying flat to sleep in the mynt section of the plane. #goals :)"
Cons: "Comfortable seats, courteous flight crew. Easy boarding and organized."
Pros: "It was my first experience & I couldn’t had enjoyed it more ! Words can’t explain"
Cons: "Nothing everything was great"
Pros: "Non stop flight, complimentary snacks, in flight entertainment, wifi"
Pros: "Efficient and good overall in terms of WiFi, service, etc."
Cons: "After exiting plane we asked a crew member (possibly a JFK employee) where our gate checked stroller was (it wasn’t in the bridge where it normally would be). He said it would be at baggage carousel 4. Our flight’s carousel was 2. The stroller never came. JetBlue employee had to get for us 1+hr late"
Cons: "Freezing cold"
Pros: "Jet Blue planes are always great. Super clean and comfortable."
Cons: "They should have scheduled pistols for our flight. We had to delay the flight for two hours until they arrived."
Pros: "The Hawaiian themed meal/snacks"
Cons: "More free entertainment!"
Cons: "the only discomfort is trying to sleep"
Cons: "30 min delay"
Pros: "Free wifi, free TV, full sized sodas and unlimited snacks. Not to mention the free mini hot towel they give you towards the end of the flight. I'll be flying jetblue from now on"
Pros: "The attendants were super sweet. I had hurt myself before the flight (nothing caused by the airline) and they were very accommodating. One of the workers pushed me in a wheelchair to luggage, which was super helpful. First time flitting on Jet Blue and it was a very positive experience."
Cons: "There is a control on the armrest and I accidentally messed with my boyfriends controls (lowered the volume). Also, the touchscreen needs to be a bit more sensitive. I tried pausing the movie I was watching and it forewarned the movie. I tried to find the spot I was at but while pausing (announcements during the trip) it kept forwarding so I have up on that movie. Minor annoyance."
Pros: "The flight crew was very nice"
Cons: "The fact that I was 3 minutes late to check my bag (due to a line and walking to the wrong counter the first time) and they would not allow me to go on my original flight and route my bag on another flight. This resulted in me and my bag getting pushed on two new flights and my overall travel time going from 4.5 hrs to 11 hrs which with a 15 month old is an eternity. Many other airlines will allow you to make exceptions when checking in late (I was still nearly 40 minutes prior to flight departure) and let me still check a bag OR allow me and my baby to stay on the same flight without the bag."
Pros: "Smooth, great service, free wi fi that really works and lots of free snacks and water which nowadays may seem like a real perk."
Cons: "Everything was great!"
Pros: "The flight itself was fine. Food pricey but good enough. Seats are comfortable. WiFi is intermittent. Cabin crew basically OK."
Cons: "Contradictory and incomplete texts about a 1.25 hour delay in departure time. Text should say to arrive at original time. Almost missed the flight because text did not say that. Got 2 different texts within minutes, one with incorrect info. Why did I have TSA Pre-Check status on the originating flight but not on the return flight? Not enough overhead space, and cabin crew wasn’t helpful in finding space. Flight 30 minutes late, but probably not JetBlue‘s fault."
Cons: "I got to the airport just to find out that the airline cancelled this flight. I had to repurchase an already paid for flight Again! $1019!!"
Pros: "Decent leg space in economy"
Cons: "The cabin was too cold, and no hot drinks were available due to a malfunction. Blankets ran out."
Pros: "How you can get up and grab your own snack instead of keep asking for one."
Cons: "I had to ride a 6hr flight with no TV or music that didn’t work the whole flight. I told the flight attendant three times who wasn’t much helped or felt it wasn’t important enough. I eventually got pissed and left it alone."
Pros: "I LOVED the comfort of the ample seating space and leg room, compared to American and free WiFi and movies with the individual monitors on the seat backs for every passenger. I flew Jet Blue on my return flight from LA to Boston to attend our son’s USC graduation. The flight from Boston to LA was on an American Airlines flight. The seats were super narrow with very cramped leg room. To add insult to discomfort , I learned just after take off on the American flight to LA that our dogs got loose at home and the person caring for them was frantic. I had to purchase in flight WIFI ($16/ hour $18 for the entire flight) to attend to the Lost dog issue (hugely stressful) only to learn after the flight that $300 worth of fraudulent charges occurred during the flight that my bank’s fraud department claims occurred as a result of entering my card information to purchase the internet access. That depleted the majority of our travel budget. (We live paycheck to paycheck and had pinched & saved to be able attend this special event) I was so apprehensive on the returning flight and can’t describe my relief to learn the WIFI was free. My fears dissolved as did my aching head and back as I settled into a wonderfully comfortable seat with far more leg room than my prior flight. Thanks Key Blue! You have a fan for life!!"
Cons: "Not one thing I didn’t like!!!!"
Pros: "A lady name Avana was so rude to people and make our life miserable. She was rudely angry and act in a bad manner that discourage me to travel jet blue. I am a very good Custumer of Jet blue and I am so happy that Jet blue flies to my country I do everything I can to support that. However another lady ask my uncle 60 dollars for a weelchair and left him without the weelchair because he did not pay her. No one there to help us out because Avana controlled everything. Please fire Avana now. I love Jetblue but Avana needs to go. She is one of the evil customer service person I ever met in my life"
Cons: "I did not like Avana’s behavior. I need someone to reply to me about her. She needs formation about customer service. Her position is not where she is as. She does not represent Jetblue well. I hate to talk like this about my black brother and Sister but that Avana is the worst person that I know Whi O’Schush working in Jetblue. My name is Yvans. You contact me if you want to."
Pros: "Nice comfortable seats with great options for entertainment. Unfortunately I only have iPhone headphones and didn’t even think about them not fitting the jack. I just watched in subtitles. Left on time and Arrived 35 mins early"
Cons: "Wanted to check a bag. Arrived early but no one was available to help till 4am. I was the first person in line and was told to go to the service desk. I waited at the service desk for 20 minutes before the same man I originally talked to came over to help only after a very long line of people accumulated. Only two people were working and the customer service was very poor."
Pros: "The flight was on time. Boarding was easy. The flight attendants came around with waters twice which was great as it was dry in flight."
Pros: "Entertainment was great! Great selection of movies!"
Cons: "The earbuds are terrible, I personally don't do well with that style - i would do research to see what the most universal type head phones are used because these were the worst. Also the control to my entertainment was on the right side, where the middle person kept changing my channels and volume. I would have liked for it to be on maybe the left side where no one else could touch it. (I sat at a window seat) The guy next to me fell asleep and so it was super hard to get to my controller (although there is one on the computer, he was still messing with it with his elbow)."
Pros: "Everything was splendid as usual. Except for the flight attendant "serving" the bulkhead, which costs an extra $90. He consistently effectively told us to shove it when we needed the slightest thing. Never had a bad experience w/ JetBlue employees at any time. My two seatmates suffered the same rudeness, in addition to a broken tv."
Cons: "Only the aforementioned flight attendant. rkbarnettphd"
Pros: "I like only 1 thing wi - fi is working good."
Cons: "I don’t like anything. It’s a worse airline ever i take I would like to suggest never ever fly with jet blue . I go through so many problems so rude employees working at help desk . Especially steven he said he is supervisor then he says he is only shift leader instead of helping he just talking so mean guy . This is really a big story i try to put in small words ...i fly with them on march 2nd LAX to JFK my finale destination is amritsar in India because of their fault i miss my next flight . The lady help me in morning she is very mean i wanna talk to supervisor she say I’m supervisor but she is only shift leader.i forgot her name . When steven told me he is supervisor i was like"
Pros: "The crew. The plane. The space. Everything"
Cons: "I forgot my headphones so it was a bummer to have to buy them but other than that everything was amazing! I love Jet Blue!"
Pros: "Leg room because I sat next to the emergency exit"
Cons: "Everything except leg room. First, your team never offered beverages. When I asked them about it, they said that they didn't want to wake anyone ... really? Like the whole plane? It's a red eye flight ... I'm sure most would take at least a water. Meanwhile First Class was served every two minutes for everything they wanted ... and us folks that make up the rest of the plane ... we don't count? So, everyone basically went to the fridge to get drinks. Water wasn't even offered ... huh? Also, your seats were ridiculously crammed ... extremely uncomfortable. Other than that, I'm glad we made it to New York."
Cons: "Jet Blue didn’t transfer my baggage to the company which I would fly with after, and if the office didn’t call me I would have my luggage lost. Not to mention that I had to stay caring it around the airport for 13 hours, until the time of my next flight."
Pros: "I arrived 3 hours early and was able to switch to an earlier flight."
Pros: "Everything was on time. The plane was clean. Most importantly there is more leg room of Jet Blue than on all. the other carriers."
Pros: "the seats were more comfortable than many other airlines, the snacks were more plentiful. I only saw one flight attendant doing anything in coach, he kept very busy and was pleasant. There was a female attendant around but I did not see her doing anything - maybe she was first class."
Cons: "First, the pre-boarding announcements were very difficult to hear and understand. The attendant spoke way too fast so that combined with the lack of clarity of the speakers made it almost impossible to understand what was being said. I have a hearing impairment so I need my husband to tell me but he too had trouble understanding the announcements. This was somewhat true during the announcements on the plane also, but less of a problem there. Let's face it, the audio systems really make things sound garbled so it is very important to speak clearly and slowly enough. I don't know how I could travel alone."
"seat 3F broken in terms of recline, embarrassing for first class"
"I booked this reservation 2mo in advance with 2 lap babies. When i called to add the babies they never told me about the lap baby rule. If I would have known i would have bought my toddler her own seat no problem. They moved my seats far from each other. My babies need to sit near their mom it was a redeye. At check in the manager did us a “favor” and moved us to adjacent aisle seats… in the last row. Those seats don't recline and the constant people, flushing and talking woke the babies up all night. No one slept. The main attendant couldn’t be bothered and had a, get over it bad attitude. Oh did i mention i had a dog at my feet also?? Every time they were woken up by the bathroom (constantly) my babies would cry for their mommy and i could only hold on at a time. adjacent seats from mommy is not comforting . Why on earth would we be moved to those seats?! I know why. We were discriminated against for having babies. “Put the babies in the back.” I was a 4x a year flyer at minimum. We will NEVER fly with AA again and i will be filing a complaint. You should be ashamed of your treatment of a family and young children."
"Short connecting flight to LAX from SFO. Only thing I maybe disliked was the lack of entertainment options, but what can I expect when it’s only a small jet to LAX"
Pros: "Check-in started a bit late due to late arriving incoming flight but the crew at the gate as well as in the plane did their best to speed the process. Flight was smooth, lande ontime despite taking off nearly 20 minutes late. Captain kept us informed when, through no fault of American Airlines there was a delay at the gate. Overall well done in these trying times."
Cons: "It will be nice when things are back to normal and actual food is served on flights of 4 or more hours duration."
Pros: "Best boarding"
Cons: "The fact the my connecting flight was delayed 3 hours making us miss the last leg of the flight to Bahrain. I'll never use kayak ever again"
Cons: "Even in first class the my treat you like cattle, asked for water 3 times and it came 30 minutes later with an attitude, like she was doing me a favor. The seats are a joke for first class, literally the cheapest trim configuration an airline could purchase."
Pros: "The boarding process was very smooth and we took off early and the crew was great and then we also arrived 30 minutes early."
Cons: "Nothing could be changed."
Pros: "empty plane"
Cons: "Flight was 2 hours late. Missed my connection."
Pros: "Nice crew and reasonable seats. With only 20-30 on the flight there was plenary of room and to spare to lay down across the empty seats (a sad reality)."
Cons: "Given the circumstances not much. I hope we return to full planes and less difficult travel scenarios that enable it."
Pros: "Prompt boarding and good directions from the crew"
Cons: "AA cancelled the Dallas flight before this one so they could fill up our flight. This does not seem very considerate of our health during a Pandemic especially with their messaging about social distancing. They also did a very poor job of keeping people patient in the deplaning process. They should have better messaging and a very non threatening way of encouraging passengers to be patient and courteous. Maybe they good offer each passenger a choice some type of goodie like a mint or a chocolate that says "please enjoy this while you wait for others to exit the plane"."
Pros: "The crew was nice"
Cons: "The flight was repeatedly delayed and AA isn't social distancing on their planes, causing people to be right next to another person for multiple hours. Even with masks, the risks could be further mitigated if seating was more staggered."
Cons: "No screens, poor WiFi connection and an hour late for mechanical issues. Things happen but waiting on a mechanic for almost the entire time to get there and fix it in 5 minutes isn’t acceptable."
Pros: "The employees were as good as they could be, given the atrocious handling of the situation by American Airlines and its policies."
Cons: "We were 1.5 hours late leaving for an unknown reason (not weather). Then, it appeared that we didn't try and make up the lost time in the air (we also landed 1.5 hours late.) This caused a significant proportion of the passengers to miss their connecting flights. American didn't do anything to help other than offer a "discount" of about $10 off of over $100/night hotel rooms in the Philadelphia area to sleep overnight in Philadelphia. This was absolutely lousy customer service by American, and will definitely make me avoid American Airlines in the future."
Pros: "Love main cabin extra"
Cons: "Just a cookie for a 3 hour flight"
Pros: "Boarding was fast and crew was friendly."
Cons: "I was extremely uncomfortable sitting in that seat. I injured my tail bone about 4 months ago and I thought it was healed at this point, but those airplane seats made all the pain come back."
Cons: "No delays"
Cons: "It is what it is, doesn’t have to be better"
Pros: "The seat was super comfortable, because of o lot of place for legs"
Cons: "The crew sometimes seems not to be happy with the passengers"
Pros: "The crew did an excellent, professional job."
Cons: "There were problems with arrival at the gate necessitating delay and 3 gate changes for connecting flight. This was not fault of American but due to a plane breaking down at the original gate at LAX causing our plane to be rerouted to a different gate."
Pros: "seat was basic. prefer having tv screens in the seatbacks as opposed to using my tiny phone as a viewing screen."
Cons: "prefer having tv screens in the seatbacks as opposed to using my tiny phone as a viewing screen. only food available besides pretzel was pay food."
Cons: "service, flight delayed over 2 hours, missed connections, missed a whole day in europe"
Pros: "Everything ran according to schedule. Everyone was professional and nice."
Cons: "I wish all families with young children could always pre-board; that was not the case on this flight. The gate agent “let” us board with Group 4, which was at least something. No tv screens on these seats. And I really don’t like the full-volume pitch for the AA credit card. They’re trying to take advantage of a captive audience, and no one likes it."
Pros: "Overall the flight was great"
Cons: "I didn’t like the restrictions on the fare and being reminded several time with negative emails from the carrier about the restrictions."
Pros: "The flight attendance kindly asked the passengers to allow for the people on the back with very thigh connections, due to stupids delays, to deplane first, but of course almost no one listened and as soon the plane reach the gate everyone stranded up clogging the hallway. There should be more education to the passenger in general. If you don't have a connection, just stay put for an extra 5 minutes, is nothing crazy to do."
Cons: "Waiting area completely packed, now sits available at all. Delays, a delay for weather or mechanical issues is understandable, but just because too many human factors, is unfortunately."
Cons: "I could not pre-check or request different seats on the CP website. I think that this was because of issues with the website, apparently due to IT system communication between American Airlines and Cathay Pacific.......on all six flights. On the transfer in San Francisco, Customs was closed when we arrived in San Francisco and we had to haul all of our baggage from one terminal to the other. There was no direction on how to handle this issue of Customs being closed while on the flight to San Francisco. I had to explain the issue of to the CP customer service crew in SF. The CP desk and they had never heard of it. American Airlines was equally poorly trained. I will also say that while at the CP customer service, there were three young adult males that we're not busy at the time and the watched us unload the baggage carts onto the scales and conveyor and then reloaded on to the carts to push to the AA terminal. We handled the bags two additional times because the CP staff did not know what to do and how to handle it. Other passengers were confused as well."
Cons: "The plan was 20 minutes behind schedule on departure and to top it off they had me pick up my luggage and check in again making me miss my connection. As a result I lost my train ticket fees"
Pros: "The flight was great. Lots of movies to choose from. Food was pretty good too."
Cons: "They moved our flight around multiple times. We first had a layover in Chicago then through multiple emails and one phone call they just flew us straight to London with no layover. It all worked out it was just stressful not knowing exactly when we were flying out and if we were going to make our connecting flights. It did work out and we did make it."
Cons: "It was cancelled. Rebooked via support the whole route on to the next day. Airport AA staff is very unprofessional, they tried to put solving all problems onto customer the customer shoulders. Lost ~$500 due to the cancellation and nobody cares to compensate it. Completely disappointed about customer care."
Pros: "Wonderful and super friendly crew"
Cons: "Booked flight with my sister 6 months before departure, paid for both tickets at the same time to find out seat assignment not together.... that could be understable only if ticket is purchased at the last minute. We were applicable to switch with another couple who were in the same situation as us....."
Cons: "My flight from SFO to Miami was delayed so I missed my connection to Rio and now I’m NYC on my birthday instead of my final destination. The flight status was changed 7 times. And AA said they would get my bag off but they did not and now I have to wait at JFK and hope it got rerouted here. And if it didn’t to hope it can on another flight before I hopefully actually get on a flight for Rio. Nobody has comped me for losing a day in Rio and for my hotel room. And this has been the worst flight exeperience or my life which unfortunately landed on my birthday. One I’ll remember in a sad and bad way. American Airlines refused to compensate me because I got my tickets via Kayak and I haven’t been able to find a number to complain to a Kayak agent whom I sure would say I had to contact American Airlines and nobody would help or take responsilvitu for this disaster."
Pros: "Delayed and no AC working..."
Pros: "The quickness at which they discovered my suitcase was missing even before I got to the luggage carousel and sent me text. The quickness at which my suitcase was found, put on another plane and returned to me the next day by noon to my home. There was nothing missing."
Cons: "That damage on my suitcase is not covered. Corner was torn 8 inches and a tear in the fabric. But it wasn't my expensive suitcase. It got caught on the carousel I sure because the paper identifying strips got caught somewhere."
Pros: "On time"
Cons: "Seat comfort was awful. I paid more for legroom but the actual seat was narrower then others. No one told me that. So legs were fine but my hips were squeezed. Seat cushion was also minimal. The base of my back was aching before take off."
Cons: "I was on a flight to Dallas on an American Airline flight which arrived late due to weather conditions, and the connecting flight didn't even wait for me although they know why I couldn't make it on time. And I was only late for about 5 minutes."
Cons: "We were not permitted to board the plane until later than expected, but were told we would still take off right away and regain lost time, no mention of a delay at last call or immediately after, despite the 20 minute delay by this point. After taxiing, the pilot informed us of withheld information, that ATC would delay our departure for ~40 minutes, but we could STILL try to make it up in the air. This was a bold faced lie. It was finally 9:52pm before we even took off from SFO. While idling, the cabin started to reek of jet fuel, and people started coughing and sneezing. Upon landing at LAX at 10:46pm, we were told that there was no gate for us, and that we would have to wait for an amount of time that kept changing every time there was an announcement. The toxic jet fumes started to permeate the cabin again, and people started coughing and sneezing in response. Ultimately it is 11:21pm by the time we reached our gate. At this point, the jetway was broken/failed to open, but despite this, the air conditioning was switched off and pax crowd the aisles without direction. Finally we managed to escape at 11:31pm."
Pros: "Everyone was so friendly and helpful, especially Ricardo at the check in desk. Our flight was delayed for 2 hours but the friendly staff made it easier to deal with the delay!"
Pros: "In flight movies were varied, with both new and international films to watch. Flight attendants were nice. Boarding was smooth."
Cons: "Spent a while sitting on the plane waiting to take off because of some kind of delay, but that meant I could spend more time watching the in-flight entertainment."
Pros: "I was comfy on Philly to Venice flight, no one was sitting next to me"
Cons: "Staff at Philadelphia was rude when I asked for upgrade options the desk attendant told me " you should have booked 1st class from the beginning" in a rude and belittling demeanor."
Pros: "Flight left late, due to mechanical problems, but managed to arrive only a few minutes late"
Cons: "No food available, even though flight departed at noon"
Pros: "I was surprised by the amount of room in the economy cabin."
Cons: "Check in very slow! The computers used for passenger self check in didn't work well. It took 6 attempts to read my passport, it never did read my green card, wouldn't accept my frequent flyer number. Other passengers were similarly frustrated. The attendant couldn't have been less helpful. I joined a line to check in with a counter clerk. The counter positions were seriously understaffed. The clerks seemed to be working quite slowly and were quite unconcerned about the growing line. I'm glad I checked in early for my flight!"
Cons: "I was not a fan that the overhead compartment for my row was not available due to the life raft in there. I understand you have to have one on board, but I think it should be more at the emergency aisles. Also the size of the seats and the space you get is not really worth the price anymore. No matter how big or small someone is, its not comfortable. Airlines need to get back to how the seating was back in the day with great leg room and the seats are a bit wider than what it is now."
Pros: "Flights on time and entire flight was a good experience for my 18 years old son to a first flight on his own."
Cons: "Maybe a better food choices"
Cons: "Got a notification of a TWO HOUR DELAY departing SFO. Rebooked into Charlotte instead of Dallas to connect to Fort Myers. THAT flight got delayed AFTER the doors were closed by another 45 minutes which caused me to miss my connection to Fort Myers AND have American Airlines leave my bag in Charlotte. I rebooked into West Palm Beach to drive to Fort Myers and my bag stayed in Charlotte even though there was ANOTHER 45 minute delay to change a tire on the plane. If I practiced medicine the way the airline handled customers, I'd kill every third patient!"
Pros: "Movies in flight."
Cons: "That I was rebooked and lied to at first as to why, and when getting another ticket the the ticket agent said the flight was rebook because "the crew didn't want to come to work". Not cool, I didn't react I simply got my ticket and just wemtnonw but there was no apology like they didn't care what I missed having to be rebooked I also wasn't given any sort of military discount no seats no baggage. Other airlines I've flown the past months always do something for military."
Cons: "The self check in kiosk in PHL The man working on 6/5/17 priority- First class was a total jerk. He sent me to a different desk, despite my having upgraded to 1st Class, and all his kiosk computer check in stations were EMPTY."
Cons: "My tickets ultimately were booked through Kayak/webjet. I will never book through webjet again. You can't directly speak with an agent. They never sent me my e-tickets. I couldn't download my tickets prior to arriving at the airport. It was super confusing because I couldn't figure out whether I was flying on British Airways or American Airlines. I didn't know what terminal to go to. I finally checked in with American even after they told me to go to British Airways. Next, American said that my booking was messed up such that they couldn't check my bag through. So at Chicago I had to exit the Secure area, pick up my bag from baggage check, check it back in and go back through security. I still didn't have my ticket for the chicago-barcelona leg of the trip. At American, they told be I had to exit the airport again to go to British Airways for the Chicago- Barcelona leg of the trip. Luckily, i asked another agent and she confirmed my flight was though American. It was the most confusing flight experience, I have ever had."
Pros: "The entire fly, connections, food and both crews excelente. Flight on time."
Pros: "Airline and crew looked after us and kept us informed. My app said the flight was delayed but the captain didn't seem to know this so we sat for half an hour or more after planned departure. Maybe he hoped to get an earlier slot. We were 30 mins late in the end."
Cons: "No food for purchase, just a drink and biscuit."
"Like: Friendly crew and a safe trip. Better: offer free water."
Cons: "The seats don’t recline and they are uncomfortable. Very little space."
Pros: "Everything pretty much matches expectations for a low cost airline"
Cons: "Water and - ideally - coffee included with ticket, not "for purchase" onboard. A few navigation screens in the cabin, having none for a 5+ hour flight leaves you in the dark about where the plane is"
Pros: "Quick, fast. Everything on time"
Cons: "Noise from all the babies."
Pros: "Not much besides the Flight crew was kind."
Cons: "Spirit airlines charges you money for water!!! For water!!! I was on a four and a half hour flight from LA to CLE, and didn’t bring my credit cards or a bottle of water with me. I could t get a bottle of water because they charge for them. How is that even legal? I sat thirsty considering drinking the water from the airplane lavatory. Beyond that the seats don’t recline and you get nickle and dined for everything. I would never fly this airline if I didn’t need to travel to CLE where they appear to be one of if not the most dominate airline."
Pros: "No one ended up sitting next to me."
Cons: "You have to pay for any beverage, including water. This was a 5 hour flight. I don’t know anyone that would think a free glass of water should be optional and therefore considered a la carte. There was no water in the bathroom to wash my hands. Got stuck behind the beverage cart and flight attendant had a nasty look on her face. Chairs don’t recline and I had to pay $50 to check my carry-on bag in because I didn’t read the fine print or visit their website after booking so although it seemed like the cheaper option I probably ended up paying the same amount or more. I wouldn’t recommend this airline if you want to fly comfortably."
Cons: "VERY unclear baggage rules - meaning I paid $100 extra for a checked bag after booking, and then also unnecessarily paid an extra $55 for a backpack at the airport because there was not notification on-screen that it was allowed as a personal bag. I then could not get a refund at the baggage counter because they don't do transactions. I am now trying to work out how to get a refund from Australia. I would have been better off taking any other airline and it would have been cheaper than these extra fees. I am so disappointed."
Pros: "Nothing, never got on the plane."
Cons: "I was stuck in traffic before the flight and arrived approximately 50min before the flight. By the time I finished fighting with the self check-in machine and talked to a person, it was about 45min before the flight and I was told I was too late and the plane had already boarded and was full. I asked if I could get on the next flight, but I was told the next flight from LAX to Oakland wasn't until 7AM the next morning. I wound up having to buy a last-minute, one-way ticket on American Airlines just to get where I was going. The man at the counter was very rude and dismissive about the whole thing."
Pros: "Flight departed early and landed almost 40 minutes early. Good service. Nice crew. I paid extra for the big First seat."
Cons: "Still no frills. No internet. No power for your computer. No reclining seats."
Pros: "No delays. Boarding was efficient but not much else. Very basic."
Cons: "I wanted to bring a bag as hand luggage and had to pay $46 each way. I've flown loads and this is the first airline who has charged for carry on."
Pros: "flight attendant was nice, but..."
Cons: "The flight attendant said that i was sick and they escorted me off the plane after i ran to it from check in counter because they were boarding already. I ate literally in the car before i got to the air port, so check in told me to run to make it. the tsa knew i asked people if i can jump ahead in line and they said yes, they all knew i was in a hurry, the boarding door guy knew that i was out of breath and i told him i was out of shape, so dont mind me. I was one of the last people to sit down. So after 15 minutes of me cooling down, and after the flight attendant gave me water, napkins, and an ice pack, then i felt nauseous and i threw up in the bathroom. I felt much better because it was the food that i just ate right before i did all the running. I told them that this is what happened, and as you can see i am sweaty and was in a hurry to make it here. they said for my safety that i need to get off the plane to be examined. I literary purged the full stomach i had after running from one end of the air port to the other. It has been told to most people that you must let your food digest before doing physical activity. I am out of shape and that run over exerted my body. So they had me removed off the plane, after i desperately attempted to make the flight before they stopped boarding, which i did, and I got taken off. Rude."
Cons: "55.00 for a carry on bag?? Are you kidding me? If I had known that when I bought the tickets of course I wouldn't have bought the tickets. For another hundred dollars I could have bought a ticket From Alaska flown in comfort and had free water !!! Instead I had to use that 100.00 for carry on bags! I hate you guys! You're the biggest rip off. I fly an average 3 times a year. I will never fly Spirit and I will tell everyone on all social media not to fly with spirit unless they enjoy getting raped!!!"
Pros: "Crew were polite and efficient"
Cons: "The extremely high cost to check a bag, almost double very other airline!"
Cons: "never again"
Pros: "Landing safely."
Cons: "I booked a flight for Friday night red-eye just for it to be delayed by 2 hours & eventually canceled. Due to this cancellation I missed my brothers graduation ceremony that was scheduled for the next day. When I first called they told me the next available flight was in three days. I spoke to someone else who then told me 24 hours was the earliest flight. I took that with no type of credit offered for my major inconvenience. The re-scheduled flight was also delayed by 2.5 hours the following day. Needless to say, I will NEVER be flying spirit again."
Cons: "I had to pay more to check my luggage than I did for my ticket. I've never been in a flight where I had to pay for my Cary on. $59...not even like a standard $25 for 1 check luggage. The. I had to pay another $59 for my checked luggage. Also standard weight is 50 lbs. my suitcase was 54. I could've move things around however spirits weight was 40 lbs. so I got to pay $55 for over weight. I am so distraught because I was excited to check out Spirit but knowing what is standard for other airlines at no point did I receive any information on any of these charges previous. I also had to weight in line for 40 mins. Have never been to a gate that stopped accepting luggage 45 mins. Prior. And I would've checked 45 mins. Prior had they only had 2 people checking in and on em dealing with a patron for 15 mins. Before finally get another person to start checking people in. The flight was so cold that my face was freezing and I think I'll stop there. My disappointment is at an all time low. Only bonus was being switch to a new flight that left 30 minutes later. Also your app doesn't work properly. When it asks me to pick how I rate... there are no words that show up when the pop up with five choices pops up."
Pros: "That the plane actually landed."
Cons: "2 hours late and 5 different gates. The funny part was kayaks notifications of gate changes were faster than Spirits Crew. When I asked if the new information was correct she gave me attitude. Then 10 minutes later reported the new gate that Kayak had already determined. That was just boarding. Paid for the more comfortable/spacious seating which was nice but useless when coupled with seats that do not recline whatsoever. Painful and slightly torturous. Don't fly them you'll save money by choosing someone else. $ to pick seat $ to bring a carry on...those who didn't know that paid somethingnlike $65 at the gate. The worst. Never again."
Pros: "Refunded my ticket with no issues"
Cons: "First, they cancelled my 8am flight at 10pm the night before with no notification. I happened to see it and call to rebook on the next flight, but if I hadn't been checking the flight status I'm not sure what would have happened when I got to the airport. Then, the 10am rebooked flight was delayed for over 2 hours - with basically no communication from the gate agents and no updates to the expected departure time. Ended up getting a refund and rebooking on Southwest - which was a perfectly smooth experience, huge contrast to the clusterf*** of flying Spirit."
Cons: "When buy through kayak link it takes you to the spirit page, where there's no spot to put in get TSA Precheck. When do all through phone, the boarding pass on the screen doesn't actually scan - only airline in the world where you still need a paper copy. After 50 mins in security line, the phone bar code didn't scan (can't use phone for spirit). Had to leave to get a paper boarding pass. Missed flight. I fly at least once a week every week. Have never missed a flight in my life (probably bc I had never flown with spirit before). Missed this flight! No refund, no airline credit (even if I got the airline credit I would let it expire to avoid flying with them again). Literally worst user experience I've ever had with an airline."
Pros: "Crew onboard were great, helpful, smiling and accommodating."
Cons: "Spirit Gate crew at LAX were terrible, rude, and condescending. I brought a "personal item" which is a laptop case with wheels and I was pulled out of line and marched to the gate desk where I was informed that it was too large to be a personal item and that I had to pay $100 to bring it on the plane. I said that I had been using this particular laptop case for years on multiple airlines and then fit it into the test receptacle provided but still had to pay the $100. I asked why not charge me the $40 for a carry-on and was told that was online only and that it's $100 at the gate. I have the Spirit credit card and mileage program, but did not feel like "a member of the Spirit family" and was ripped off."
Pros: "absolutely nothing"
Cons: "Spirit is the worst airline in the world. I've never been so dissatisfied with service - except for the last time I flew spirit. The flight was delayed from 10:20 to 11:45. I had checked in the previous day - and printed by boarding pass - so I arrived at the ticketing counter at 10:20 - seeing as how the flight was delayed till 11:45. They refused to take my bag, which I had paid for - and refused to refund me for the USD 45 I paid for checked baggage. The woman at ticketing was stone faced and so cold. She was downright awful to the other woman ahead of me in line. I had my daughter come back and pick up my bag so that I could board the flight - as the ticketing agent said that I could board, just not my bag. The flight didn't end up taking off until 12:15 PM. It was a nightmare. It's ridiculous that the seats don't recline. I suppose you get what you pay for... but the level that Spirit takes it to is just insulting. I told my daughter I will never fly again if I have to fly Spirit."
Pros: "See above"
Cons: "I was extremely disappointed when I arrived at the LA airport and was notified that my flight was delayed and therefore I would not make the connecting flight. I asked for Spirit Airline to help come up with a solution. The agents at LAX kept me at the counter for over an hour making me miss my original flight to Dallas. All the Spirit agents kept saying is that corporate doesn't allow them to help. Only option was a refund or flight out of LAX 12hrs after my original flight and take a red eye. I was at the airport with (2) children under the age of 10. The people for Spirit had poor attitudes and lacked any effort to help come up a solution. I ended up having to book a same day flight from Delta Airlines. Delta flew out at 1pm. The (2) kids and myself were at the airport at 9am to catch the 10am flight from Spirit. Long day for us."
Pros: "Cheap flights."
Cons: "We were told our flight was downgraded and that 35 passengers needed to switch thier flight as there was no seats available. We had a group of 5 people and 2 did not have seats. So we volunteered to switch our flights as we were told we would leave the following day at the same time all together, get a hotel for the night, food vouchers and 2 free round trip flights. So when they were switching our flights they booked 3 out of the 5 who volunteered and they told us we could not be on the same flight. Eventually they got us all on the same flight but that was 4 or 5 hours later. In regards to the food vouchers we were informed we could only use them in the airport but we were not allowed pass tsa as we did not have boarding passes. We then asked about our luggage as we had checked them in when we first arrived and they informed us they pulled them out of the flight and they were going to be at luggage claim. When we tried to get our luggage at baggage claim we were then informed that no luggages were pulled and they were already in transit to chicago. So the supervision told us that we could buy whatever items we needed for the night and we would get reimbursed later, which keep in mind we had to take a taxi from the hotel to a target near by. This whole process was ridiculous and it seemed as if no one was able to provide us with accurate information. Had we known it was going to be such a hassel and inconvenience to ourselves we would have never given up our seats to begin with. Pedro was the name of the person at the gate who informed us we would have a flight all together and that was false in which carlos had told him. Rosario at check in was patient and helped the most but she informed us our luggage was going to be available for us and that was false. Zachary manning Katona was very unprofessional and rude to us as well as his coworkers. And edier the supervisor informed us we will get a reimbursement for the items we buy since our luggage was shipped back to chicago, so lets see if thats true or false when the time comes."
Pros: "That was the most turbulent flight I have ever been on, even in a small aircraft. When we were landing in MSP we encountered severe winds and the pilot had to make and abort 2 landing attempts. On the third attempt we were able to land. I've never been on an airplane where so many people were throwing up before! The pilot handled the difficult winds, and massive snowstorm perfectly and I absolutely can't thank him enough. I can't believe we didn't get diverted to Chicago or crash. The flight attendants and other crew are in very good spirits considering the airline they are working for."
Cons: "Spirit s luggage weight allowance is 10 pound less than the other airlines. That makes it difficult to pack winter clothing and boots. Their baggage fees are also higher than other airlines, but you can carry less! The "bare fare" is incredibly annoying, they even charge you for water on the airplane. There is no food available, or maybe one small snack. The seats are so small. I'm 5 feet 4 inches tall and weigh 120 pounds and I feel uncomfortable I can't imagine what a tall or average sized person goes through. The seats are so incredibly hard like you are sitting on a wooden bench. This is one of those cases where you really get what you pay for - a low price comes with a lot of discomfort and frustration. I would never fly on this airline on a flight over 4 hours. The suffering would not be worth saving money. The staff does their best to treat you kindly but you can plainly see they are dealing with difficult circumstances and being pushed to their breaking point. They have to deal with so many miserable, uncomfortable people. I feel bad for them."
Cons: "Upon arrival to the airport, I was told to stand in a line. Once I flagged someone down and asked if I could use a kiosk since I was not checking a bag, they directed me to the right location. Upon attempting to check-in, the kiosk printed a ticket that read "see attendant." I was placed on a line to wait again. Once I finally reached the attendant she told me that I was late in checking in. Apparently, the system does not allow you to check-in less then 45 minutes before departure and I was one minute shy of that. The then proceeded to tell me that I could not get on the flight despite having time to make it and would be charged a $100 rebooking fee. I was livid. I had to wait over six hours for no reason. My seat was empty when the plane took off. There was no reason to keep me off the flight."
Cons: "Had never flown Spirit before. First AND LAST experience. Don't care that they call themselves no frills. Their customer service is pathetic. Had to wait at the airport for 25 minutes for any Spirit employee to show up at the ticket counter to check my bag. By that time there were about 50 people waiting for help. Even other airline employees and TSA employees didn't know why they weren't there. Also called customer service to have my KTN (pre-check #) added because I couldn't put it in when I booked the flight. Even though he told me he would put it in- he didn't. So NO precheck for me. The seats in the plane are beyond uncomfortable. Like sitting on a hard straight chair -no padding. Charging for carry ons? Really? Checking my bag was cheaper than carrying it on and it's a SMALL suitcase seriously. Do NOT be fooled by the low prices listed. They are deceiving!!! Just trying to give a real review here folks. Not being overly dramatic."
Pros: "That there was a Virgin Loft flight club in the terminal, only used it because of the Spirit delay"
Cons: "Front counter is rude. I don't know if they just had a front counter person having a bad day but I've never experienced that with any airline. Then there was a flight delay of a minimum 2 hours due to a bad windshield? Great keep us safe, but good luck with finding someone at the gate or a service counter to give you an explanation of why it's delayed. Instead just wander aimlessly around the terminal looking for a Spirit employee. I then went to the Spirit website and it shows the flight as "on time", really?? At least give me an app or website that's accurate so I don't have to sit in front of the gate for 2 hours. When booking through Kayak there is no mention of pre-purchasing checked baggage so I was stuck with a $50 fee at the ticket counter! This is definitely not the "low price" airline unless you truly "travel naked". Save yourself some grief and ignore Spirit as a flight option."
Cons: "Up charge on everything. Rude customer service. Can't check in at the counter at least at LAX. Missed my flight and had to wait 7 hrs because only 3 of the 12 kiosks were operating at the agents wouldn't let me check in at the counter. By the time I got my ticket printed I had 43 minutes till my flight left. Waited in line just to have an agent tell me I was 2 mins too late. Last check in is 45 mins prior to flight and I had 43 mins left. Complete BS. I will not fly Spirit again. If you think I'm exaggerating read other reviews. Good luck!"
Cons: "These flights would be alright if you have no luggage. A lot of people were told they had to pay for smaller bags at the gate just because they had wheels. And it was an extra $100 per bag at the gate. The only thing that goes on free is a backpack or purse. Otherwise it's $50 right away when you check-in, which they were letting a lot through saying you'd be alright, or $65 before zone 1 is called and $100 there after, this goes for each flight. And as I said, most people got stuck with the $100 because they were initially told they'd be fine at check-in but when they went to board they were told otherwise. There were also issues with scanning tickets and a few people had to step out of line and get new ones. I personally would never fly this airline unless I had no other choice. Spend the extra little bit of money on a better airline; in the long run you will save a good chunk of change."
Pros: "I got to my destinations safely."
Cons: "You don't actually save money with this airline, which is something I had to learn the hard way apparently. You could hardly understand the pilot when he made announcements and the crew wasn't exactly rude, but definitely weren't kind and warm either. The man next to me pushed his button for someone to assist him and asked that they throw his trash away (not cool on the man's part, I'll admit that, because the crew was doing walk-throughs for trash every 5 minutes it seemed). But, the passenger next to me did not deserve the passive aggressive help he received. The seats are uncomfortable and don't seem worth the money/weight they must have saved. While I admire the mission to save fuel, I think the cons outweigh the pros of this airline. I'll happily return to Southwest or Virgin."
Pros: "Let me start by saying that the entire purpose of Spirit is to be significantly cheaper than other airlines and at that, they have succeeded. We saved nearly $300 for two people round trip. That said, you have to read their policies before booking to fly with them as they do charge you for any baggage beyond a small backpack/purse. We planned accordingly and it worked just fine. Because they are cheaper, they also provide no movies or entertainment of any kind and no food/beverage provided. They are available for purchase on the flight or you could just again, plan accordingly and pack your own snacks and drinks before you board the flight. Many complaints about them having frequent delays. But we were fortunate enough to not have any of these on our outgoing and return flights. Flight attendance were friendly and courteous."
Cons: "They are cheap so they have the cheapest feeling cabins of any airline I've flown in the US. No reclining. Not much leg room. And not much of a tray table. For a 5 hour flight across the US it was a bit uncomfortable. I probably wouldn't book them again for a flight of the duration but it would be more than fine for a 2-3 hour flight considering the cost. Flight attendance were pushing the airlines credit card at the end of the flight."
Pros: "Only their initial "SUCKER PRICE" that does NOT include any luggage or the ability to sit with your family without paying extra!!!"
Cons: "They use an initial "SUCKER PRICE" which does NOT include ANY LUGGAGE or the ability to SIT WITH YOUR FAMILY without paying extra!! $50 extra for each piece of luggage ... EACH WAY1 If you don't pay at the check in counter they charge $100 for each piece of luggage - each way and that includes ANY BACKPACK WITH WHEELS! $25 FOR EACH FAMILY MEMBER TO SIT TOGETHER!!!! NO COMPLIMENTARY FOOD OR DRINK. 2 sodas are $5! (can't buy just one) NO none zero entertainment, not even a radio channel."
Pros: "The only part about this flight experience I enjoyed was the clever way the flight attendants did their introduction/safety announcement before takeoff."
Cons: "I waited in line to check in for 1.5 hours where they then told me I was too late and asked me to sign a piece of paper without at all explaining to me that my bag would have to go on the next flight. I am lucky I asked first because they had to make a special call for me since I couldn't wait at the airport for it at my destination. If I did not ask I would have been completely screwed up! I then waited in security for 45 minutes. My flight got delayed about 3.5 hours Total before actually taking off. I flew from LAX to PHX. I will never in a million years ever fly spirit airlines again."
Pros: "Nothing. I really wish I would have read spirit's reviews before booking with them."
Cons: "I booked a round trip flight through spirit from July 2nd to July 4th for a friend's wedding. Found out the night before my flight that it was cancelled due to "mechanical failure." Since it was on a holiday weekend, all of spirit's other flights for the day were full and customer service (which is also terrible) would not put me on another airline. They offered a refund, which I accepted and have yet to receive, but I had to fork out another $120 to get another last minute flight. And of course they did not offer to cover the extra cost. Tl;dr - booked a flight with spirit because it was cheap and ended up almost missing my friend's wedding because my flight was cancelled."
Cons: "Flight was cancelled under for 4 prior to takeoff. Spirit showed a direct flight same day online at 9PM from LAX to Chicago but when I called to confirm they said it was not available to me and put me on a 6 hour layover flight to MN. I asked for a hotel since I was spending the night in MN which I had not planned for and they denied that. I asked to use my $50 voucher they fought to provide me for a cancellation inconvenience for an in flight water and they said they only accept credit cards. I'm stuck in MN for the night with nothing to eat drink or anywhere to sleep cause of the late cancellation notice which they claimed was a mechanical error. I'm pissed I want my money refunded."
Pros: "The flight was cancelled dye to "unexpected weather iin Colorado" however after talking to a different airline and also a friend who flew to CO, I know it was bullshit. The weather in CO was perfect an my flight was canceled because Spirit airlines couldnt fill the flight. That is NOT MY PROBLEM and I shouldn't suffer for this. I do a lot of travel and have NEVER has a canceled flight. I used to fly between PHX and LA frequently and have been on next to empty flights but I have never been held responsible for the airlines inability to get business. I will NEVER book a flight through Spirit EVER again!!"
Cons: "The flight was cancelled dye to "unexpected weather iin Colorado" however after talking to a different airline and also a friend who flew to CO, I know it was bullshit. Pros: "I liked that the plane was structurally sound and well built and that the pilots knew what they were doing - it went up, flew and landed! SUCCESS!!"
Cons: "I remember when SOUTHWEST came onto the scene, people said "It's a cattle call airlines". Well, there's a new leader in budget flying - seats don't recline, if you are over 6'2" your femur will barely fit in the seat space between rows, $3 for anything to drink, and because it is cheap (least expensive) it has all the personalities/characters 'least expensive' will attract. . . and heck, I was one of them! People are great, but when we are crammed into spaces, our egos and inner-judges get all ramped up, and there were plenty of these moments. Nice, friendly airline crew, from front counter to attendants, which also comes with the lack of experience and polish of veteran airline employees. In the future I will ony fly Spirit when I am country hopping and need the least expensive series of flights to get from point A to point B to Point C, and SPIRIT was a leg in that journey. Fly safe and kind everyone! CT"
Cons: "On my departing flight I was delayed right off the bat for 2 hours. Then after that we sat on the tarmac for 2 hours and then deboarded and delayed another 3 hours. The staff was very unhelpful and I paid $28 for a seat upgrade which was not even fulfilled because I requested an aisle seat and got a window seat. The staff was also very rude and told me this why hispanic people have a sterotype. On my arriving flight I was double charged for my carrying on and backpack. I was told that I would need to pay for both but when I went into the gate that was not the case and I saw that my backpack met specifications to not be charged. When I paid the fee the attendant took money out from her brasserie to give me change and then pocketed the cash and when I asked for a reciet she said the computer system was down and on my boarding ticket it did not have that I paid for a carry on so I was given a hard time at the gate. When I explained what happened they said okay as if this shady stuff is acceptable. I was then delayed in the air for 2 hours and rerouted to detroit to get gas. We were told to hold tight and not allowed to use the restroom for an hour to then be told we had to deboard for an addtional 2 hours. This is horrible and I will continue to speak with someone until I get a refund."
Pros: "Really??? I guess I liked the fact that we arrived safely but that is it."
Cons: "EVERYTHING!! This airline has done everything wrong in an attempt to cut costs. The flights were very cramped. The seats were extremely uncomfortable. There were flight attendants but really no reason as there were no services they provided. There were extra hidden fees for everything from selecting your seat to printing your boarding pass (apparently this costs the airline $10 per boarding pass). The flights didn't arrive on time, we were waiting nearly an hour for our checked baggage which we were coerced into purchasing due to the limited size available for carryon (i.e.a small purse or brief case). I will NEVER spend another dime with this company and highly suggest you consider all other options before selecting this airline."
Cons: "My flight to LA was delayed by a systems crash, we spent 2-1/2 hours at the gate before departing. My return flight wagon time and I was looking forward to a relatively comfortable flight home, as i'd paid extra for an exit row seat on the aisle. instead, the person who sat next to me man-spreaded into my personal/seat space, shoving his shoulders into my ribs and making the 7 hour cross-country flight, exceedingly uncomfortable. When i voiced my complaints to him, he replied in an entitled and indignant fashion and redoubled his effort to invade my personal space. What's worse, is that this man was wearing a Spirit Airlines uniform and presumably, did not pay for his seat. I will never fly Spirit again."
Cons: "We arrived at the airport two hours early and got to the gate right when they closed it so we missed our flight. When we asked to switch our flight the attendant said that there wasn't another for another two days and then walked away. She came back 20 minutes later and said there was nothing she could do. After about 15 minutes she changed our flight. I got in huge trouble at work because I missed my flight and couldn't afford another airline's flight home. TSA was extremely rude and the Spirit staff was extremely rude as well."
Cons: "Spirit Airlines provides no services (including water), the seats and tray tables are minimal and uncomfortable, and the seats do not recline. The ground staff are so tired of repeating the same company negative replies to incredulous passengers ("$100 to bring on a carry-on?") that they come across as unaccommodating and surly. My return flight attempt to prepay for our luggage on the website ($40 per bag rather then $50 at the kiosk) took over 40 minutes including having to join the Spirit Airlines club which I have absolutely no intention of ever using again. Read the fine print on luggage weight, extra charges, one personal item before you think this airline is a "deal.""
Pros: "Arriving safely at my destination"
Cons: "No literature, no amenities, crowded seats that don't recline, getting nickel and dimed by attendants like carnival barkers for water, sitting next to dehydrated and furious people that just had to pay $55 to bring a carry-on which offset any savings they thought they were getting by flying Spirit, and a patronizing ad campaign that tries to get you excited to be miserable. "[Amenities] just weigh us down." It said something like that on the print out. I feel like not distributing water as a safety precaution in a pressurized atmosphere for a 5.5 hour flight is just begging for a catastrophe because a passenger couldn't whip out his MasterCard quick enough to stay hydrated."
Cons: "Unfortunately, I should have asked around in advance: everything is add-on in cost, so there are prices for an additional carry-on and a steep price for checked luggage. Beverages and the like are also an extra charge, as is choosing your own seat (which, if you are traveling with a family, is just ridiculous). The seating is hugely tight (if you want to pick your seats, it's $10 for each and $25 for any imaginably decent leg room--I say this as a very short person; anyone of average height would be miserable)."
Cons: "This was one of the worst flight experiences of my entire life. I had to pay almost $200 in extra fees, which included everything from checked bags, carry on bags AND seat selection. Their website is awful! It took me over 2 hours plus 2 customer service phone calls before I was able to check in for my flight. Completely disorganized at the airport. Under staffed. We arrived 2 hours early and barely made our flight. We were in lines so long we barely had time to use the restroom, let alone find any kind of food for the flight. Upon boarding, I witnessed one of the flight attendants being extremely rude and hostile to a female customer who was talking to her friend about how bad her Spirit experience was. A supervisor came back and instead of reprimanding the rude flight attendant, she told all of us that if the flight attendant didn't feel "comfortable" with any of us, we would be "removed" from the flight! The flight was delayed because they closed the cabin doors before 10 additional customers were able to make it through their ridiculous lines. Instead of apologizing for their incompetence, they blamed the customers for being late, despite the fact that at least one of them initially arrived at the same time we did (2 hours before the flight)! Oh and the flight itself was rickety as hell with screaming babies everywhere. I'm absolutely DREADING the return flight home. This is the worst airline ever and should be shut down as soon as possible."
Cons: "they nickel and dime you for literally EVERYTHING. you think you are saving money purchasing a cheap ticket but once you add in your suitcase and God for bid a soda or coffe while on the plane you're at double the cost of the original ticket price. I know they warn you of the small amount of space but my knees were jammed to the chair in front of me, I'm 5'8, so not like I am abnormally tall. it was just a bad enough experience all around that I would advise no one to take the airlines, especially for a long routed trip!"
Cons: "I dont see that I would ever use Spirit again. You book a ta low fare and incur many costs that build up and nearly double your fair. may as well book on another airline and get what you wanted in the first place for the same price. The staff were unprofessional, disrespectful, tired and unkempt. And the flight was delayed, and we were never given a reason. I needed to change my return flight. I was instructed that i would save money by doing it on line. I would have saved NO money, and was able to easily book a new fare for less money with another airline. #NO-Spirit Airlines"
Pros: "The customer service when I needed to change my flight date was excellent. The women that helped me were top notch."
Cons: "I was not aware that they were going to charge extra for EVERYTHING. Where other airlines give you (at the very least) free water, sometimes soda and a small snack, Spirit wanted $3 for a small bottle of water! $4 for a muffin?! Good grief! I get it, airlines up-charge you for everything, but I was not aware ahead of time that I'd be spending MORE money on top of the fare. They were not upfront about this, at all. Also - adding an extra fee just to pick your seat a few minutes early is ludicrous. Anywhere from $11-99 just so you can make sure you have a seat you want (depending on location)! And that's not choosing the seat when you purchase your ticket, that's choosing your seat the day of the flight, once you're at the airport or stressing over making sure you get to the airport the day of, on time. Yay, more stress, just what I wanted to start my vacation with! Speaking of seats - THEY DON'T RECLINE! The comfort level while sitting on 4 and 5 hour flights was next to none (I can't imagine the flights longer than that...I'd have lost my mind). You're sitting nearly straight up on an overnight flight - be sure to bring extra pillows, cause you're gonna want to pile them up in your lap just to try to get a little bit of a nap. I get that you won't get the most comfy sleep when you're on a plane, but I'm gonna need a chiro visit just to get this kink out of my neck. :( To top it all off, not every seat has a tray table. If you're "lucky" enough (or pay...) to get to have a few inches of extra foot room from sitting behind one of the only 4 reclining seats on the plane (the $99 seats), you'll be holding anything you want to drink or eat in your lap. Sucks for you, but you don't get a tray table! This was my first flight with Spirit, because I liked the idea of spending $100 less than the rest of my usual airline. But, I think it's pretty obvious at this point, I will do everything I can to avoid flying with Spirit in the future. TL;DR Hidden costs for EVERYTHING! Seats, water, peanuts....ridiculous. Comfort level is next to none. If I have a choice, I will avoid flying with Spirit again."
Pros: "Staff were very pleasant."
Cons: "My issue is with the purchase of my flight and the failure of your website to make the need or lack of need to purchase additional items. I purchased through orbitz and was not allowed at that time to advise of my need for wheelchair assistance or pick a seat. I got on your website and ended up purchasing an aisle seat to accomodate my disabilty and paid to bring on a carry on bag. The bill indicated i was charged twice so i had to call when i was informed i did not have to pay for a seat and i did have to pay for tge caary on. I could not figure out your system and most likely will not fly on your plane again because of that fact. I paid an extra 45 to accomodate a disability which is unsettling but more a problem when you cannot figure out the additioal charges until it is too late to cancel them. Then, on a plane that was not full, they gave my seat to another passenger which t ook quige sometime to fix"
