KAYAK’s top tips for finding a cheap flight from Dallas to Los Angeles

  • If you are planning to fly to Los Angeles, CA from Dallas, you can use either of the two major flight hubs — Dallas/Fort Worth Airport (DFW) or Dallas Love Field (DAL). Located approximately 10.6 miles from downtown Dallas, the former is the region’s main airport and the largest hub for American Airlines in Dallas and its surrounding neighborhoods. The latter is smaller but closer to the city (about six miles northwest of downtown Dallas) with well-networked ground transportation.
  • If you are planning to fly to Los Angeles, opting to land in Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is a convenient choice. Located about 18 miles west of downtown Los Angeles, LAX is the largest and the primary international airport serving the region. JetBlue, United, Southwest, Delta, China, Hawaiian, and Delta are some of the major airlines serving LAX.
  • If you are leaving Dallas and you need to avoid queues as much as possible, consider flying from Dallas Love Field (DAL). The airport is smaller than DFW and is served by fewer airlines, which usually have short and quick security checks.
  • To spend the night in safer and more comfortable places in LAX premises, avoid pre-security areas and opt for inside security areas. To enjoy carpeted floors, resting chairs equipped with armrests, and a wide array of amenities and eateries, we recommend places such as Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT).
  • If you're disabled or traveling with a disabled loved one using Dallas airport (DFW), be sure to notify the airline you are to travel with about your special needs in advance. Luckily, DFW airport is well-equipped to accommodate people with special needs. For instance, all restrooms are accessible, wheelchairs are readily available upon request, and ample parking for persons with disabilities is available in all on-site parking garages.
  • Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) offers two options for inter-terminal transit. For Airside connections, use Skylink. It is a free light rail train that connects the terminals. In Terminal A, you can board it between Gates A13 and A16 or Gates A29 and A34. For landslide connections, use the free shuttles. In Terminal A, you will find the shuttles at Entry A10.
  • Travelers have multiple options when it gets to finding a space to pray at DFW. The airport offers multi-faith in every terminal. In Terminal D, the chapel is near Gate 40. Other chapels are located by Gate 24 in Terminal A, Gate 25 in Terminal B, Gate 15 in Terminal C, and Gate 4 in Terminal E.
  • Dallas Love Field Airport (DAL) is completely smoke-free indoors. However, it offers a designated area to accommodate smoking travelers. You can find the smoking area on the upper level outside the terminal building.
  • The Bob Hope USO Lounge at LAX is open to active members of the US military and their families. The lounge offers a nap room, dining room, snack bar, gaming lounge, charging stations, showers, and a family zone with family rooms and a play area. It is near the Theme Building between Terminals 1 and 2.
  • Bank of America runs ATMs at LAX. The ATMs are available at the Arrivals and Departures Levels of both the Domestic and International Terminals. For currency exchange, visit ICE counters in the North and South Concourses of Bradley Terminal.

Not having a five hour delay with little notice! The crew was very kind, though, and just as tired as we passengers were. The flight didn't depart until nearly 1 am...and no reason was ever given.

This leg was much better, but we did have to have a 3 hour lay o er after coming from a very exhausting hiccup with our flight from BNA to Den

The Air hostess were very rude on my flight from Houston to Austin . Their regular communication itself felt a they are shouting at people.

Plane was late. Zero service for 2+ hour flight and it was not that bumpy.

Great flight. Good snacks and drinks. Grateful it was free. The flight from Nashville to louisville, i think her name was Tracy (not sure that's right) super awesome, nice and cheerful. She really enjoyed being at work today! She was the person who scanned the boarding pass on flight wn941. She should be recommended for a raise !

Boarding was easy. The seats are small and fairly uncomfortable

I elected to pay for the upgrades and found very little difference

The problem with the seat assignments is that there were a lot of rows in the front that were empty but my row at the back was full. Just not so pleasant.

No food or entertainment, just a quick 40 minute flight. A little bumpy due to Santa Ana winds but pilot has no control over that. Good flight and landing!

Good but I prefer choose your own seat. With the new assigned seats they should board from the back I see no advantage to this new boarding. Just like every other airline

Everything went smoothly, although the usual gripes about airline travel were still present: the boarding process is inefficient, the snack selection is limited, and so on. Since there was extra space on the flight, the gate agent rearranged many people's seats to put people on the aisles and windows, leaving the middle seats empty, as much as possible, which was pretty great.

While they turned off most cabin lights to allow people to sleep, I was bothered by how bright the side lights still were. It was still quite bright for me in a window seat, when I wish I could have slept!

One of the flight attendants was a little cranky. I appreciated the free wifi and plug to charge my laptop

WiFi didn’t work most of the time. The usb chargers would work only occasionally for 5 mins and wouldn’t charge after that. Had to keep trying repeatedly at each of the seats in the row.

The crew bent over backwards to thank us for flying and make us comfortable. The food service was quick and efficient. The Captain communicated and said goodbye and thank you as we departed. They really stood out!

Generally on time departures and arrivals, clean planes, sky miles membership provides great benefits (complimentary upgrades, etc).

We departed and landed early which was a nice surprise. The boarding process was slow.

my mom urmila patel needed a wheelchair which was not available on the curbside. she needed to walk almost 50 meters inside (at the risk of falling) and then had to wait in line to get a wheelchair (this is not ok). Once obtained she had to seat in it for 30-45 minutes for someone to take her in thru the checkin process (which was fairly smooth and easy). the lady who helped her with her checkin process was very courteous and helpful

Staff at the check-in counter were friendly, happy and helpful. They tagged our bags and sent us to “bag drop off” but were not very clear about where that was. The airport was busy we headed off in what we thought was the right direction until a gentleman waved us down and actually came after us. He was the baggage handler for Delta and recognized our “deer in the headlights “ look-he brought us to the right area (which was marked as the Southwest Airlines Drop Off) and sent us on our way. Wonderful guy, low key and working with a big smile on his face. Loved it. Loved him.

Arlene was a great flight attendant. I also liked how one of the other flight attendants gave us a heads up about snacks and asked everyone to remove their headphones when it was their turn to order. Good idea.

American delayed the flight for a crew rest period. The delay occurred late in the evening - the earliest i can find is 10:20 pm. With a 6 am flight anyone on the flight would have already have been asleep (unless you are insane, a vampire or on drugs) and at least for me i was already on the way to the airport at 445 am the next morning when i discovered they delayed the flight until 9 am. Given the incoming flight was in the air at 6 pm the evening before this should have been figured out a lot more timely that was there only crew to use. Just frustrating given there is no consideration for customer experience anymore in flying.

American Airlines is a miserable experience. It is predictably miserable, in the sense that every time I fly American, I brace myself for the certainty that it will be unpleasant and uncomfortable. But it is unpredictable in the sense that I never know if the flight will be on time or delayed nine hours (both happened to me this week). I never know if I will be able to sit in the seat that I selected when I purchased the ticket or if I will be told by Customer Service (!!!) that I must relocate from first class to a seat in the back of the aircraft with no explanation (both happened to me this week). Will the food be frozen and half defrosted, or scalding hot? Will the drinks be warm? Will the flight attendants be surly and mean? Will the toilets be cramped and foul? Will the seats be narrow and uncomfortable? Will there be a real electric outlet at the seat, or just an unreliable USB-2 port? Will there be enough seats in the boarding lounge or just a few? Will the boarding process be smooth and efficient, or will the gate agents mess it up and delay it needlessly for 30 or 40 minutes? Will the catering and cleaning crew be prompt or will they take an extra 30 minutes? Will the brakes on the aircraft work properly, or will the pilot delay takeoff for four hours while the ground crew attends to what can only be described as routine maintenance that should have been done the night before? I've eexperienced every one of these unpleasant things this year, 2026. The only thing I can reliably count on is that American will find a new way to make the experience of flying as miserable as they possibly can.

Wifi was spotty. Tray table was very dirty when I sat down.

Going non stop to lax like I paid for. Not stopping in MCI for gas. Too long of delays

Flight was on time. Cabin attendants made no recognition of my name or being an Advantage Executive Platinum member.

The experience at checkin for my American Airlines flight from Sacramento to LAX was very good including the assistance I received in getting my bags checked in and boarding passes printed. Was pleasantly surprised the my bags were checked through all the way to my destination at Clark International Airport in Angeles, Philippines.

The flight was significantly delayed for 6.5 hours because of snow. There was no communication once the plane returned to the gate regarding when the flight would resume. Other flights were departing while our flight was being unloaded for reasons unknown. Our flight also seemed out of the queue regarding further deicing, refueling, and waiting to Taxi to the runway.

They are always late and seats was also not having working charger

We were upgraded to Business Class. So comfortable with great service and food options

The flight was completely full. Crew was not happy. Everyone was rude and brusque. Travelling with an arm in a cast and seating in the first row of economy cabin (in front of the separation) I needed help retrieving my tray for the meal. A staff member literally threw the tray on my lap, without helping to take out the tray. Boarding was messy, with 300 people waiting in an encloses space with low ceiling. I will try to avoid AA next time I have a long flight.

The airline cancel mi flight, lost a lot of money!!!

No WiFi, no outlets to charge phones, no complimentary beverages on a 6 hour flight

Flight was delayed more than 3 hours, and the metro had stopped running by the time we got to the terminal well past midnight, so I was stranded, alone, with no way to get home until the metro started up the next morning.

My flight was cancelled I missed time at work and got a parking ticket

Crew was very nice. Take off and landing were great. Economy seats are not comfortable. Extra cost for snacks.

The flight was delayed by 2 hours and we had no food or water or chargers

Horribly late because they had no crew!!! And then jet bridge didn’t work!! Then we arrived at a gate at lax miles away that we had to take a shuttle to a terminal!! I was over 3 hours late to getting the LA! Should have been here at 8:30 and at an appointment at 10:30 and arrived and left lax at 11 am!! Horrible experience!!!

Once again, the staff seem to think they are above the customers and treat everyone with disdain, belittling people.

Flight was canceled 8 hours before departure for lack of operational control and prepositioning of a plane. Then had the audacity to say it was because of weather, however there was no weather here in California or New Orleans or in between. It was the weather in Florida, Florida it had nothing to do with our flight path just the plane was supposed to fly us. 8 hours is more than enough time to move a plane anywhere in the US. That left me with a bill of 1200 dollars to re book a flight oh and kayaks insurance what a joke. Probably will never use kayak or spirit ever again terrible companies terrible customer service. I’ll also let everyone and anyone know this was an abomination and only for the customer. Also will be making a report to the DOT on bad business practices on behalf of kayak and spirit as well as the BBB. Do better, take care of your customers and don’t suck

it was terrible. flight was cancelled hours before the flight without a given reason and no other booking available .

My flight was originally from SAT to MCO connecting from MCO to ORD. We got diverted to ATL and than Frontier staff there was sooo un helpful first they said they couldn’t give us any accommodation since our flight first got delayed that cancelled and now it’s 221am and I am still in ATL since they said they need to create a new flight my final destination is ORD and I have been delayed twice and cancelled. With no real help the frontier app didn’t work no email updates over all such a horrible experience

Gate not determined until I got to the airport - hard to plan the trip to the airport.

Our flight was canceled. I will never use Kayak nor Frontier for travel again. The entire experience was a headache.

Very well recently! Frontier is improving and less harrassing customer on luggages! Positive!

Terrible. The canceled my entire flight when I requested a refund for a trip frontier canceled trip one way.

i was unable to check in the flight. refund requested

I think Frontier was very good at communication. Their app worked very well. Loading was great and the flight was nice and easy.

Great for the price. No wifi or entertainment, but gate agents and crew were fantastic and we boarded quickly and left on time.

Decent clean onboard experience. Okay discount airline experience. Unfortunately, any customer service interactions are difficult and unhelpful. There is no service. Also, a premium seat only gets you premium boarding if you line up first. Once they start general boarding you must go to the back of the line. Not very premium

The crew was mostly okay. The flight attendant who answered our questions was curt and unhelpful unfortunately. He seemed upset and I understand having off days.
