No one was sitting next to me so I could cry in peace (see below). The flight attendant was kind.

There was a two hour delay in IND that caused me to misconnect in Chicago. There weren't enough gate agents available to rebook passengers in IND. Once in Chicago, the gate agent (Christine E, H16) was rude and demeaning. In all my years of travel, I have never before been reduced to tears by a gate agent. If I'd have recorded the encounter, it would have most surely gone viral. A letter of complaint to American has gotten me nowhere. Which is probably why the gate agent knew she could treat me the way she did without experiencing any repercussions.

The seats were really bad, it was our first trip on a 787 and I will never do it again. Not as bad as the Airbus from MIA but considering it's 13 hours it was totally rubbish. We normally fly the 777 with Air NZ, after this we will go back to them. The staff, as always were helpfull and pleasant, the plane was quiet but the seats.....

Nothing really.

Boarding process was horribly handled. Food was inadequate. Stewardess was saccharine. Bathroom door didn’t shut completely. I was told this wasn’t an international flight and therefore no free alcohol. Aero Mexico flight to Mexico City had much better food, free alcohol and more attentive service personnel. Also delays because of equipment problems.

The attendants gave us little information on flight alternatives and when the flight was finally allowed to board again, they did not announce it and so had I not been waiting close by, I would have missed my flight. It was extremely disappointing but not shocking with all the scandals that have occurred this year with American Airlines. I do not recommend flying with them.

My son was flying on 2 previous flights on Alaska airlines and had to change planes in Dallas , at that time American Airlines decided his carry on was too big and wanted him to pay the 25$ checked bag fee. American Airlines would not accept cash and he doesn't have a cc , nor would they except my cc over the phone and denied him boarding !! Alaska airline Courtesey booked him on the next flt with no charge for changes and the only way we could pay for his baggage was to upgrade him to first class ticket as they still wouldn't accept a cc over the phone , and their online system wouldn't allow payment for baggage because he was already checked in . Agents at the gate were very rude , even to me in the phone as I was trying to resolve this with them What a bunch of money gouging assholes I will always avoid American Airlines in the future and my whole family will as well
