Insights shared by verified travelers who flew from Dallas to anywhere

American Airlines was pretty convenient and efficient. My recommendation would be to get a good amount of time to get situated at your terminal in case of any last-minute issues.
Verified travelerFlew with Qantas Airways-Jun 2026
If you have the ability and can afford to, I would DEFINITELY recommend upgrading to Premium Economy seating. It is well worth the extra money.
RicardoFlew with American Airlines-Aug 2026
Enjoy the Dallas airport with its variety of restaurants and stores if you have to wait for long layovers.
JosephFlew with American Airlines-Aug 2026
Pay attention and look out for last minute gate and terminal changes. I got stung by that, today’s flight changed gates and terminals four times.
nabeelFlew with Turkish Airlines-Jul 2026
DFW lounge is normally crowded so arrive early if in Business class
DeepaFlew with American Airlines-Apr 2026
The TSA precheck feature is useful, and the security checkpoint to gate walk is around 20 mins, not too bad.
JoseFlew with American Airlines-Apr 2026
Try to get an early flight time because you never know what’s gonna change.
Verified travelerFlew with American Airlines-Apr 2026
Be sure to wear compression socks and stay active on long haul flights
PamFlew with American Airlines-Mar 2026
Book premium economy. The extra comfort is worth it.
RobertFlew with American Airlines-Mar 2026
Southwest boards more efficiently than the rest in my opinion. Boarding should start at the opposite end of the plane from the door and preferably window to door but instead it's front to back and takes forever when each passenger stows a bag and blocks the rest. I have seen the back to front work well in other countries.
MichelleFlew with American Airlines-Mar 2026
Lots of construction going on so plan accordingly and don't get too comfortable in one spot. All the times I've departed from Dallas, I had several gate changes prior to departure. And they aren't close by. :)
JonathanFlew with American Airlines-Mar 2026
There's a lot of construction. American Airlines flies out out of all the terminals so make sure you get dropped off at the right one and check to make sure your gate has not switched.
StephanieFlew with American Airlines-Apr 2026
download what you can work on in advance, don't rely on WiFi, download music, videos, etc and know that you'll wait over an hour before they start the beverage service
JaneFlew with American Airlines-Apr 2026
If you are a guest with disabilities ensure your travel agents know to do their job to handle your specials requests.
JanaFlew with American Airlines-Apr 2026
Get there early. It is a long walk to the D1 gate.
Jr.Flew with Iberia-Jan 2026
The biggest issue would be departure time. Try to catch a flight 5-7pm, as that would keep you on a good sleep pattern as you try to adjust.
La-MekkaFlew with American Airlines-Feb 2026
Wish I would’ve know at DFW terminal D, use D30 to check your bags but D18!for regular TSA
LouesaFlew with American Airlines-Jan 2026
The airport is large so allow plenty of time even if you have TSA pre-check.
FraxysFlew with American Airlines-Feb 2026
Bring your own snacks or sandwich for dinner in the plane.
DionFlew with American Airlines-Jan 2026
Make sure you eat a heavy meal before boarding the flight.
JulieFlew with British Airways-Nov 2025
Be sure to make sure you give yourself plenty of time if you are connecting through Dallas airport - there are sky trains that take a couple of minutes to get to the right terminal, and it's a large airport.
ShashiFlew with American Airlines-Jun 2025
Get some snacks for later use before you board the plane.
Verified travelerFlew with Cathay Pacific-Jun 2025
Bring snacks if you need them, otherwise they only offer dinner after taking off and breakfast before landing.
TyFlew with Frontier-Jun 2025
Check in weight limit is 40lbs, not 50lbs
Verified travelerFlew with Korean Air-Mar 2025
Get up and walk around every 3-4 hours. Turbulence is (kind of) unpredictable and sometimes you cannot get up so take advantage when you can.

The Dallas airport is very confusing. Be careful what shuttle bus you get on and leave super early because the traffic is awful in
PiperFlew with American Airlines-Dec 2024
Dress according to comfort on plane rather than either destination! Know that Palm Springs airport is outdoors (and NOT cold) so prepare for that too
DavidFlew with American Airlines-Feb 2025
Southwest boards a bit better. Also you get checked bags free.
Verified travelerFlew with American Airlines-Dec 2024
Bring a neck pillow and if your over 6 ft tall spend the money for exit row. Other customers are not curteous
Verified travelerFlew with American Airlines-Jan 2025
Dallas is huge and has gate changes quite frequently so be sure to set alerts and notifications for your flight.
Verified travelerFlew with Iberia-Dec 2024
If you can't check in online do it by phone, don't do it at the airport because the system sucks!
CoryFlew with American Airlines-Nov 2024
don't bring any food you're not going to eat on the plane. stop in the duty free area and get your sim card/alcohol-bags take awhile.
SoniaFlew with American Airlines-Aug 2024
Leave at least 1.5 hours between flights as Dallas is HUGE!
PiperFlew with Alaska Airlines-Jul 2024
Best to fly direct. The boarding process was extremely smooth
ChadFlew with American Airlines-Jul 2024
Absolutely get in the earliest boarding position possible if you want to get your carryon luggage on board. If you are over 6’0’ invest in a a quality medical plan for chiropractic care or consider setting appointments with your health care professionals prior to the trip to ensure you can get help when returning.

I can be quite cool onboard, so just because you are traveling from heat to more heat be aware that the aircraft can be chilly.

Dallas Fort Worth is a large airport. Be sure to go your terminal if you have as connecting flight.

JoelFlew with American Airlines-May 2024
Dallas is a very spread out airport, jus make sure that you have enough time to transfer during layovers. Also all the restaurants close fairly early
RickyFlew with Spirit Airlines-Mar 2024

My ride dropped me off at the time my flight was boarding and I had to check a bag. I thought there was no way, but I was able to check my bag and get through security super fast because they were both just a few steps away from my drop off. Made my flight with time to spare. Just don’t get stuck in traffic.

Flight was constantly delayed with significant changes in time, it was supposed to get to Colorado Springs at 8:30 PM but it got there after midnight.

I don't know why flying out of Sarasota requires two plane changes.

Plane was late. Zero service for 2+ hour flight and it was not that bumpy.

Great flight. Good snacks and drinks. Grateful it was free. The flight from Nashville to louisville, i think her name was Tracy (not sure that's right) super awesome, nice and cheerful. She really enjoyed being at work today! She was the person who scanned the boarding pass on flight wn941. She should be recommended for a raise !

I elected to pay for the upgrades and found very little difference

Flight was hours late, unable to sit next to spouse, I have had so much better experiences. Substantially better, only saving grace was that it was a short flight.

I was assigned seat 7E, yet my boarding was Group 5, which caused me to have to put my luggage in the back of the plance above `19 or 20 aisle, as passengers who had boarded earlier took the overhead bins in the front. SW needs to monitor bin space and ensure that bin space above the seat are aligned to those sitting near their seats. Also the seating assignments needs to align with group number. Maybe board those last first and so on? Having said the ALL the passengers on the plane were gracious enough to allow me and other passengers in this dilema to retrieve our luggage and helped us along the way. I always love the flight staff, as always their fantastic and I can't rave about them enough!

The flight crew was extremely rude and especially not helpful when our flight was delayed.

Check-in, Boarding and flight were smooth. All the employees and crew was very nice and funny. They gave the kids crayons and workbooks to keep them occupied which was a big win. I’ve flown Southwest many times and that’s the first time I’ve seen that and it is a great addition.

Still a fan of open seating. Flight was on schedule and arrived on time. The 737 MAX is very comfortable.

The WiFi was not working. That made for a long flight.

Flight was delayed due to crew being not on time

Flight was delayed. No information on why it was delayed. After we boarded the flight, , the crew made announcement that the captain hs not arrived and he will take 15 mins more to arrive. Passengers were just sitting patiently for the captain to arrive and start, Terrible experience.

Timing, quality of service, promptness and courtesy of the staff

It would have been better if the flight wasn't delayed by 2.5 hours

Delta flight Delay for ,more that two hours i.e original flight was 6.30 PM and it starts at 8.45 PM, When we connect Delta team for meal vouchers as it is late arrival in designation,But we did not get it as per delta policy , which is not good for mid night arrival,

On my way home I had a layover. The flight from ATL to CLT was amended 5x while I was waiting. I could have driven home sooner. Overall from Dallas, Tx to Charlotte, NC I started my trip at 4:30pm, I didn’t get home until past midnight. I know things happen, but 5x to make me run back and forth in an airport from different terminals is excessive. I also upgraded to comfort + , I didn’t feel it was worth it. There was no benefit

I didn’t like that I could not select my seat and was assigned a seat when I checked in at LAX

Lisa the flight attendent was absolutely wonderful - I loved her energy and you could tell that this crew was amazing family - thank you for making our flight home to LA so very fun! Love and Sun Chips!

the entertainment for the flight from DAL-LGA was not available.

Spent over $20k on for business class tickets from DFW. They used a very old Boeing 777 with old Business class cabin which was unclean and stained seats. On a route they normally operate the modern Boeing 787. The cabin heat was set to hot for 11 hours. On the IST LHE route the business class experience got even worse. They operate an even older Airbus A330 where trip was falling apart, seat recline did not operate and the whole experience left us hugely disappointed. Next time we likely will shift to better quality product which stands up to their hype. Turkish need to relook at their fleet plans and not use their worst assets of perceived week markets such as Pakistan.

The flight from Houston to Chicago was delayed, causing us to miss our connecting flight to Madrid, losing our Rental Car booking in Bologna taking alternative travel routes to get to our initial destination in Pizza by the 15th. We got the notification of the delay as we were traveling the 3 1/2 hours from Corpus Christi, Texas to Houston Texas for the initial flight. The delays hauling luggage all over Milan‘s Central train station to catch trains to get to Pizza the same day resulting us arriving in Pizza at 2 AM leaving us no time to rest as there was a 9 o’clock checkout time the next morning. The first 72 hours of the trip with nothing but headache, a knee injury from the excessive walking and a delayed car rental replacement, which ended up costing significantly more.

Amazing! One of the best kept secrets in air travel!

The ground crew members at check in counter were courteous. The boarding was seamless. Flight departed as scheduled. Service on board was great

It was a pleasant experience. In flight entertainment could have been better

I have travelled many times on Turkish, but they always board at least 30-40 minutes past the stated time. If informed properly, passengers can choose to spend more time in the .lounge instead of standing around by the gate waiting to board. The new lounge at DFW was a big disappointment. The aircraft itself was a shock. In the past I have flown this sector with regular business class seating configuration of 1-2-1, The 2-3-2 seating is very disappointing after paying such high prices for tickets. The DFW to Istanbul segment was slightly better, but the Istanbul to Delhi segment was no better than premium economy. I will try to travel more on airlines which give business class passengers more value for their money.

Bad experience; they are not good anymore. They charge too much for luggage seat are so uncomfortable, Flight delays which may miss your next flight, they don’t care if you miss the flight or not. Zero customer services for front desk representatives Istanbul's airport I’m not using this airline any more.

Good overall flight. Excellent crew. Food options could be improved.

I was flying with Turkish Airlines from Tashkent to Dallas and from Dallas to Tashkent. In both directions the flights were late. I missed my connecting flight from Istanbul to Dallas in Istanbul airport because of that. That led to a no show case with a rental company in Dallas and I lost 460 US dollars. On the way from Dallas to Tashkent with a layover in Istanbul the plane was also late and I almost missed my connecting flight to Tashkent. Then my bag did not arrive with the same plane and only on the next morning flight from Istanbul. I was about to leave Tashkent the same day to Astana in Kazakhstan and then from there for work in Saudi Arabia. Luckily I had an excess in time before the next flight and I manage to get my bag back. Otherwise I would have missed 3 flights automatically because I couldn't travel for work without my bag and all valuables in it. So, overall, very bad experience with Turkish Airlines. Will never use these airlines again.

The 787 economy was a disaster for long haul. The space was too little compared to 777 or 747. Also the extremely low tray table behind the seat made any dining effort a nightmare. However, the movies were up to date, and the food taste was good, despite of terrible serving process caused by small space.

The plane was late getting to Ontario by half an hour which makes it inconvenient when you have people waiting for you.

I paid extra for what I thought was leg room and it certainly was not. I had a very cramped experience on my flight from Dallas to Detroit and it was the section right behind first class section. I did however have an amazing flight from Atlanta to Dallas on the initial outbound flight.

The plane left late and there were four gate changes. Fortunately they were all in the same terminal. The crew was truly outstanding. There were only nuts to eat due to the very short flight time. Beverages were as expected.

Flight was delayed 2.5 hours at the start. They kept saying mechanical issues and changed gates several times. Then when we landed, they kept us on the tarmac for 1 hr because they didnt have gate staff to pull out a bridge. Its insane that they cannot have 2-3 people to operate a bridge for a flight with 100 people? Then the baggage claim, bags took over 45 minutes to arrive. All in all, I was scheduled to arrive at 6:30 PM local time and I didn't leave the airport till 10:40 PM local time. Its a shame and makes me never want to fly American again.

Terrific flight, had a good seat. Flight crew was wonderful, boarding was drama free. And we arrived early.

I understand that the plane is a regional jet, but American Airlines can do better! They have been operating these planes for 25 years by now. The seats are uncomfortable, and both boarding and deplaning are painful and waste a lot of time due to carry-on baggage.

Flying on this airline is nothing short of a full blown circus clown show. On a recent return from my mother’s funeral, my only available choice from IND to PWM was American, which I hesitantly booked as I rarely fly them for many of the following reasons and never will again. I was booked IND-PHL-PWM totaling about six hours. The flight was cancelled due to NE weather. They rebooked me on a two stop flight IND-DFW (Yes DALLAS)-PHL-PWM, still all on the same day. After arriving in DFW, they continually delayed the DFW-PHL flight due to maintenance issues on the arriving flight. Finally it was delayed to the point that my PHL-PWM connection was no longer possible. They then rebooked me thru LGA with the short flight the NEXT DAY to PWM and offered to put me up for the night in NYC (or so I assumed). The flight DFW-LGA was then delayed so much that I asked to be put in an earlier flight with a lessor delay. Throughout this day chats with their AI assistant were useless as were subsequent chats supposedly with a real person(?). Only one customer service agent in DFW was actually helpful and appeared to care. Upon arrival at LGA post midnight, they issued me car and hotel vouchers in Trenton NEW JERSEY at a very old Howard Johnsons ONE HALF HOUR from LGA. The hotel was an $85, 1.5 rated hotel in a very sketchy area of NJ that I would have never voluntarily booked. As I prepared to catch the car back to LGA the next morning I received a text that my flight was cancelled. TWICE IN TWO DAYS. I went to LGA hoping to have AA book me on an earlier Delta flight. The full service line was at least 200 people deep, so I tried to reach a real person agent by phone. After 1/2 hours on hold I gave up and waited for my later LGA-PWM flight. It actually started boarding on-time, but only shortly after announced a maintenance hold. We were told it was nothing serious, just an adjustment to the Captains seat. Only one update was given while we waited 1.5+ hours for a “SEAT ADJUSTMENT”. Can’t forget to mention that on all of these planes the WiFi only worked on two. During that time at least three others flights in my area announced that they were overbooked and were taking volunteers before bumping people. Another flight to ORD announced a gate change and less than five minutes after announced that they were really not changing and announced for everyone to return to that gate. Can’t forget to mention that on all of these planes the WiFi only worked on two.🤡🤡

Awful! We boarded and then sat on the plane for 50 mins before having to deplane due to a maintenance issue which should have been addressed before boarding. Then we had to change terminals as there was no other plane for us at the current terminal. Then we waited another 2 and a half hours to board again only to wait for 50 mins on the plane again for the snacks to be brought from the broken plane. And once we were on the flight we still only got the complimentary cookie and soda or water. No food vouchers provided even though we had waited over 3 hours for our flight.

Although there was an unfortunate delay, everything with the boarding and departure process went smoothly.

Flying on this airline is nothing short of a full blown circus clown show. It is so mismanaged it should not be in business as there is no way it can be safe as badly as it is managed. It is 100% about money and customers be damned. On a recent return from my mother’s funeral, my only available choice from IND to PWM was American, which I hesitantly booked as I rarely fly them for many of the following reasons and never will again. Gate not determined until I got to the airport - hard to plan the trip to the airport.

Very well recently! Frontier is improving and less harrassing customer on luggages! Positive!

Terrible. The canceled my entire flight when I requested a refund for a trip frontier canceled trip one way.

i was unable to check in the flight. refund requested

Book with frontier airlines with the mentality that they'll cancel your flight, kick you off and lose your luggage. Anything besides that is a win. Compare prices with other airlines (to include luggage) and if frontier is still worth it, book it but know all of their policies.

Would be great if Frontier can Assign Seats together under one PNR

Boarding was organized and flight was on time. Overall very satisfied with my flight.

The boarding gate was in Terminal D, but the Frontier counter was in Terminal E. So I had to move back and forth between terminals to check in my luggage. This was the worst experience that I had in terms of flights.

My departure gate was E10 but no kiosk at E10 for check in & no one to ask. A United attendant helped direct us to E38 for check in. The kiosks at E38 were all malfunctioning. A counter agent had to check us in. We then had to walk back to E10 for boarding. E10 to E38 at DfW is not an easy trek. No where in all the info they sent us indicated there were issues to over come. They can cut only so many corners. Luckily we arrived plenty early to deal with Frontier’s inefficiency.

Horrible, first and last time that we use frontier. Kept us in Las Vegas for 8 hours. We boarded original flight at 2 pm right as we were getting ready to leave we were told that plane had issues. Stayed in gate and then after a couple of hours we were told that we were being assigned a new plane and were moved to a different gate. Then after 3 hours they said that the plane had issues and after a while of just being delayed it was cancelled. Thankfully there is southwest that came to rescue. We purchased ticket and left Vegas at 10 pm
