The snack selection and lack of entertainment
Everything worked the way it was supposed to. Bag transfer through customs and transfer to domestic was easy.
Snacks and food in general on US operated airlines is generally sad. American Airlines should learn from Qantas about food quality and service.
Premium economy is the way to go for a long haul flight. We were comfortable and able to get some sleep.
The crew on the way to Sydney was a little more present. There was always someone milling in the galley between the business class and premium economy cabin. The crew returning came through the cabin often and were attentive if you asked for them but you had to seek them out.
BWI check-in crew is not friendly, not related to Japan Airline.
Flexibility in changing reservation at the last minute. Excellent service on board, good food.

Wish there was better food. It was okay.
Lost bags and every time I called to find out where they were I would get a different story. I was told it would be on the next flight for the next 5 flights.
Food drinks and movies
The seats were comfortable and the plane clean. Take off and landing smooth .
Entertainment system good. Nice new aircraft 777-300 ER. On-time departure and early arrival.
Vegetarian food choices very limited.
They were able to get us on an earlier flight to shorten the 5 hour layover
United's flight was delayed by 6 hours, couldn't make the connecting flight from Washington DC to Denver so they routed me to san francisco, spend the night at the airport there and then travel to Denver in the morning. Fortunately there was a very helpful crew in Schiphol that was able to get us on a flight with american airlines to philadelphia and then on to Denver.
United was flexible when I had to change my reservation at the last minute. Good service on board.
EWR gate personnel tried to move things along. Seat was roomie and the flight attendants were pleasant. Flight was on time and landed early. No complaints.
Long TSA lines at EWR, but they moved.
One crew is rude while I was ordering food while she is delivering the beverage after the order time. She simply told me they don't have what I want to order and leave. After 5 mins, I pushed the service button and nobody responded. After half hour, I ordered the food from another crew passed by. After I landed, they suppose to return my stroller set at the airplane gate. But they said it is not there, ask us to wait at the airport gate. We walked outside and they broadcasted again, I didn't hear very clearly but followed most parents to walk out. We wait at the baggage claim for almost 1 hour and finally, the baggage crew came back to the gate and found our stroller.
My luggage didn’t come on my flight. I was given a phone number to call for updates. I didn’t receive my bag until the following day. It was very unprofessional.
I dispatched a guitar in a hard case. It was labeled fragile and sent to a separate compartment. The guitar was poorly treated and the case was broken all over. Very disappointing. On top of that I had requested window seat and got the middle seat. No food was served and there was no movies to watch or anything, considering this was a five hour flight
The flight crew was incredibly sweet and helpful; one of them even gave me their personal TUMS when I said I didn't feel well.
The flight boarded 30 minutes early; I arrived to my gate at the time of when my ticket said boarding started, but they were already calling final boarding call for my flight. I completely panicked. The plane was clean but the seats are very close together and there were no complimentary snacks- even though it was a 6 hour flight. On my flight back from Seattle on Delta, we got a complimentary meal AND a complimentary snack. I was expecting my Alaskan flight to be better based on everything I'd heard from friends, but my return Delta flight showed Alaska up; it was a spacier plane with way more food offered.

Friendly staff, quick to get on the plane after a long wait in the security line. TSA is very inefficient in SAN.
The cabin crew didn’t let us know we got free drinks on the premium seating area. Hey should invite us proactively to order our drinks. The menu does not contain info on what is included on the premium seating purchased. The seats are too narrow.
