Cons: The flight was transferred to a smaller plane, either because there were few passengers (the first story we heard) or because of mechanical problems on the original craft (the second story). Business class was oversold as a result, and boarding was delayed for an hour while they waited for enough BC passengers to accept 800 euros for the downgrade to economy plus. They repeatedly threatened to cancel the flight rather than raise the offer. Eventually enough knuckled under and we were allowed to leave. Some no doubt missed connections because of this petty brinkmanship. The funny coda is that because the plane was so undersold, anyone in economy that wanted their own row could have one, while economy plus was packed with the embittered and downgraded.
Pros: I always try to fly with Lufthansa when I do go to Germany to visit my family. At times they might be more expensive then others but you don't pay extra for everything. Also I got a great price at Kayak. The service was excellent and I do love the fact that Lufthansa is now flying directly from Denver to Munich makes it so much easier.

Cons: There is no one at Kayak to answer questions on weekends. Message says "call back during 'regular' business hours" but does not specify what that means, nor what time zone they are in. (BTW, most people travel on weekends so ya may want to consider providing customer service then...duh). When I finally was able to reach someone in order to upgrage to Premium Economy, they could not help me but said they would send an email with an answer to how much that would cost. The email never came. I will never book with Kayak again.

Very high tech, I took advantage of the napcaps and shower facilities. Also the restaurants were on par with great red win.

Cons: Flying to Munich- flight was cancelled. Had to rebook on United for the following day. Arrived almost 2 days late (the original was direct, the United had layovers) and missed a planned trip to Neuschwanstein castle. Flying from Munich- The entertainment screen was broken, completely unusable. After a hard reset by the flight attendant several times... Still broken. She said she thought it would fix itself once we were at cruising altitude. Nope. Notified the flight attendant who said vaguely "I'll see what I can do..." Never came back to check, never got offered any sort of compensation (even something like a free mixed drink would have been nice), offer to move seats, nothing. So- ten hours with no entertainment/nothing to watch, just a malfunctioning screen. Food was mediocre. We boarded late, and left almost 1 hour late because they had to wait for an employee (who was not working, just getting a ride back) to board. Literally there and back with Lufthansa was a fiasco. On top of it, we have been back for 3 weeks and are still waiting to hear back from Lufthansa customer service. Apparently they only communicate by email with complaints. Not over the phone. So after repeated emails, just radio silence. Terrible airline.
Pros: First time flying Lufthansa and I had a comfortable and enjoyable experience. The food was quite good and the selection and quality of entertainment was excellent. Best of all, there was plenty of legroom for a long international flight!

Cons: Boarding process was torture. Lufthansa invited us to check-in early, but would not allow us to finish the check-in online process the day prior: seemed to be glitch in their computer system. We arrived at the airport early, but no one at Lufthansa could help us with seat assignments in order to seat our 12-yo daughter next to a partent. The airline did not open the gate area until 1+35 prior to the flight (advertised 2-hrs prior), and did not put anyone at the gate-desk until 1-hr prior to departure ...and they still could not help us. Boarding was disorganized; Lufthansa appeared to board by different groups, but there were no announcements as to which group(s) should board. Instead there was just a large crowd milling about, waiting to push their way to a gate agent. Very un-German.

Pros: First time for flying Lufthansa and I rate it higher than Emirates which was my favorite until now. Reasons? Number one, the crew. On top of every detail for a comfortable flight. Ten hours and I didn't sleep at all( never can sleep sitting up) and I think they came by with extra water and juices at least six times. Two hot meals of delicious food, superb snacks available near the galley, and comfortable seats with better than average legroom.

Furthermore I couldn’t use the check-in kiosks because my name was listed as Reidmr instead of Reid, which meant that my boarding pass did not match my passport. Overall this caused unnecessary delays that were compounded by the fact that I couldn’t use my TSA precheck. My main problem on the plane was that I had to struggle to get water served to me. It’s always so dry on planes and I would have liked to be able to get more than one tiny glass of water at a time. Also, would have loved a window at my window seat. Plus no WIFI!?

Pros: This is obviously a very well-run airline. Boarding was efficient, the crew were warm and professional, and the overall feel of the aircraft was very Scandinavian-cool. I was most impressed with the meal service. We were served twice on our 9 hour flight, and both meals were hot, healthy, and the best I’ve had during a flight. The passenger in front of us was having a hard time with her sinuses, and the flight attendant (whose name I wish we had gotten) was very attentive and concerned for the comfort and well-being of the passenger. She insisted on doing anything she could to alleviate the woman’s difficulty. It is clear that the crew care about the passengers’ experience.
Cons: We were unable to sleep at all during our overnight flight and landed pretty exhausted. Our seats were comfortable (complete with a moldable headrest to keep your head from bobbing around) but we felt too upright to fall asleep. The passenger in front of us reclined, but we were concerned about reclining into the already tight space of the passenger behind us. So we weren’t able to sleep, despite trying to get comfortable/somewhat horizontal. It seemed to be a mixed bag of asleep and awake passengers on the flight, so some people were unaffected by this issue.
Cons: The crew passed by me TWICE while serving food and I was not sleeping at that time. I had to go and ask for food myself. Also there was a delay about 40 minutes when taking off in CPH (CPH-EWR) because of a fuel-screen malfunction or smth. The pilot was very nice and kept us informed all the time. I still didn't make my connection flight due to the delay and SAS rebooked me which made my already long trip 8 hrs longer.

Cons: We boarded late. There was no boarding announcement. A guy walked up in front , as to wait for the announcement and she waved him up. The rest of the gate just started forming several lines. Very unorganized. The we sat on the plane for about a half hour. At least there was an announcement that two people were missing so they had to remove their luggage. 40 minutes late into Longyearbyen.
Cons: Because the airport was under construction, the area to wait to board was very barren and without bathrooms. We had to take a very crowded bus to the airplane.

Pros: Thanks to the staff while checking in my luggage I was able to check my bags directly from Stockholm to Mexico City via preventing me to loose a lot of time in London where I was supposed to check in and out because I purchased my trilp in two different segments

Cons: I paid for a"premium" seat on one of the emergency exit rows for the extra legroom. This was next to a galley. The seat itself was no more than 18" wide (NO EXAGGERATION!!) if not less. I had to sit on an angle (one butt cheek at a time) for 9 yours. I do not have a big butt either. This seat should have been a discounted seat, not a premium seat. I am so angry about this, I will NEVER fly Air France again.

We had frequent flier tickets and when I checked in, the screen stated no extra charge for check in bags and I also called the customer service. When I got to the airport in Hamburg, they wanted to charge me $100 for a bag. I asked the lady behind the counter to call the main office because she said she has no authority to change the fee. I called the main office and had the person in office tell the agent at the airport that it is a mistake and that there is no charge.

Pros: When I booked my Economy Light fare from Denver to Paris, I was expecting a trying experience. But to the contrary, I found the entire trip to Paris and back enjoyable. I found the boarding quick and efficient, plus the flight attendants were genuinely friendly and helpful.
Cons: Short answer: Nothing. Icelandair is my new favorite low-cost airline for trips to Europe.
Pros: Crew was very helpful and friendly, and we were greeted with a bottle of water for the flight. Entertainment is nice with free movies, music and Iceland travel video blogs. Water/soda/coffee offered multiple times, and water additional times.
Cons: Boarding was walk-to-outside-stairs, more an airport versus airline thing, in truth the fresh air was nice, just glad it wasn't pouring rain. Seat comfort was barely okay, the 757 seats were basically in contact with my knees, tough for such a long flight. Their 767's are much better. Didn't like paying 60 GBP (pounds, about $75) for 3 sandwich lunches with 3 alcoholic drinks, IcelandAir could do better.

To make things worse, none of the people at the counter were actually Iceland Air employee, so noone was able or willing to tell me anything about this (quote from employee "everything I tell you will be used against me" not sure if she was flippant or scared) Anyway, watch out for them screwing you over where they can

Pros: After you accepting the fact that any food on this international flight must be purchase, the rest was comfortable and efficiently maintained.
Cons: KEF is terrible. The food concessions have unbearably long lines at the checkout. The possibly only toilet is is down a flight of steps and the lines are long. I will pay more in the future to avoid KEF. The Frankfurt airport waiting areas, both outside the gate area and inside, had totally inadequate device charging outlets.
Pros: This was our first flight with Iceland Air and we kind of looked forward to it. On the way oversease we were immediately rebooked onto Swiss Air, before arriving at the airport, because Iceland Air had a delay and knew we would miss our connecting flight to Germany. We were very impressed by this and very happy with Swiss Air, also. On the way back we liked the roomier plane and the relative punctuality of the flights. Our luggage arrived fine and quickly at the end destination, despite the short layover, which often leads to lost luggage.
Cons: Our biggest complaint is that Iceland Air does not offer meals as part of your ticket on its flights. They expect you to upgrade (and pay) for 'economy comfort' in order to get the meals and seating included in most other regular economy tickets. I don't think that being on a 6.5 hour flight (and a 3.5 hour flight immediately before without chance of making puchases at the airport in between, due to their delay) without a meal being included in your ticket is acceptable practice. They had a meny from which you could purchase food, things like baguette with ham/cheese, salad, oatmeal, instant noodles etc. But the prices for these cheap cafeteria options were insane. From the cheapest ($7 for a small instant oatmeal) to $16 for a salad or small main course you would have to spend an additional 25-35$ per meal per person to get the usual airplane meal that all other airlines I know of include (2 per overseas flight). We did go hungry, eat candy, bought one little oatmeal and pretty much will avoid Iceland Air for that reason in the future. We thought it was outreageous to be asked to spend this amount of money or go without food for over 9 hours.

Cons: Icelandair apparently has no schedule they stick to. We were consistently late leaving the airport, making us miss EVERY connection. I was not aware this was a no frills flight, meaning exactly that! No food or snacks, even for overnight flights. They charged $10 for a small, cold sandwich IF you preordered. Other than the water given upon entry, drinks were doled out sparingly, just a tiny cup per passenger.

Cons: Not enough space for legs in the economy class. The chair back support was not working correctly ( couldn't be blocked in the reclined position). Very uncomfortable chairs overall. No food included in the price of a ticket for such long flight? Poorly organized and managed departure process. The passenger next to me was sick looking. He was coughing loudly and frequently all the time during that flight. For more then 7h of the flight no flight attendant demonstrated ANY interest or offered any help. Furthermore when his female companion (wife?) asked just for cup of water so he could get his meds at the beginning of the flight they were told to wait for the regular service to start (what took app 30min). So overall my impression of the Icelandair service is no more then just O'k.

Pros: We normally really like flying Icelandair and enjoy the ability to have a stopover in Iceland. The crew is always very nice and this flight was no exception.
Cons: The plane, or at least our section of it, was very warm. We were near the doors between Business Class and Economy, so we were expecting it to be even a little cold, but it was so warm that I was in a tank top the entire flight. The boarding process in Reykjavik was very odd, even for them. There was just a door in the wall under our gate # and without warning it was opened and everyone just got up and went through it. There was no announcement. Apparently the checkin desk was upstairs. We then waited 20 minutes in line, before they finally started boarding us int he order we were queued - again, no announcement.
Pros: There was more leg room that we thought there would be; we were left alone to sleep by the attendants. The pilots let us know important information.
Cons: We were 3 hours late to Denver after leaving Iceland late. This was partially due to weather. The only upsetting thing was the $31 "dinner" available in the airport consisting of a frozen individual pizza, sandwich and 2 waters! We felt like we were being gouged for the airlines issues. The entertainment system on this flight from Iceland to Denver was a bit old and of all four flights, the system was difficult to access.

Cons: My friend flew Delta to our same location at almost the same time for a slightly cheaper fair and she received two free meals and two hot towels aboard the flight. I wasn't expecting to have to pay for dinner. Otherwise I would have brought food on.
Pros: It eventually got where we needed to go. Flight crew was OK and boarding was fairly efficient.
Cons: USB jack at my seat was broken; my neighbor let me use hers for a bit. Her headphone jack was broken, so I offered to let her use mine, but then she needed to use my TV, so that wasn't ideal either. Many errors using the entertainment system--very laggy and frequent "temporarily unavailable" messages. Also, we were about 40 minutes delayed due to a mechanical issue (discovered once we were all boarded, extending an already lengthy flight).
Pros: Crew was very professional and responsive to a difficult weather situation at the airport in Reykjavik.
Cons: Admittedly this is something of an airport issue more than an airline issue, however considering Icelandair is one of the few airlines servicing the airport in Reykjavik there has to be some level of coordination going on between the two entities. Regardless, 5 different US-bound flights were all scheduled to leave within 15 minutes of each other in the same small corner of the Reykjavik airport, so when delays started coming in due to weather that area became an extremely congested mess. Perhaps its a cultural norm in Iceland to just remain silent in times of mini-crisis, but the desk attendants made no effort to communicate what was going on to the hundreds of people crammed in atop one another in the waiting area. This led to a lot of frustration from the waiting travelers. Both of these problems could have been prevented by better planning (not scheduling all outbound flights happening in a quarter hour's time into the same small corner of the airport) and better communication from the airline staff, the lack of which really aggravated a difficult situation for the people there. Once on the flight, though, everything went very smoothly, and the flight crew was quite apologetic and professional.

Cons: The crew were rude and unwelcoming. Having to actually PURCHASE food and drinks on an international, transatlantic flight is ludicrous. Having made the trip from the USA to Europe many, many times, this was a shock and something that i didn't prepare for. The cabin crew were extremely rude and uncaring. Being offered a drink of water once in 7.5 hours is ridiculous and frankly dangerous for some. This was not a cheap flight, so for such poor service, I think things need to change. A smile from a crew member may not go a miss either. Thanks Icelandair, but i shall not be choosing you for my travel needs in the future, and neither will my friends and colleagues.
Cons: When we arrived at Keflavik airport the terminal was immensely crowded with several flights due to leave the US at once. It was overcrowded to the point of being uncomfortable and there was a 30min+ wait to buy food from the only shop. As a result we did not have time to grab a bite to eat between flights. My partner was subjected to additional TSA checks which I am aware is a random check and a nescessity but due to the amount of flights departing for the US this took an extra hour, and delayed our flight. I'm thankful that Iceland Air didn't leave without us but it was an immensely stressful experience that I don't wish to go through again.
Pros: Nothing to like except that we finally got here.
Cons: Late departure. Not enough fuel in plane so had to refuel in Minneapolis. Even with headwinds, there should have been enough fuel put into the plane to complete the trip. They stopped in at an airport that was experiencing thunderstorms, and while we were refueling, our plan was struck by lightening and then had to to be examined for damage before continuing on. We were on the ground, in the plane, for a total of 4 hours, waiting. Finally were advised that the crew had "timed out" and could not fly any more that day, so we spent the night and all the next day sleeping on the floor in the airport. Icelandair was not at all prepared for such a situation. Situation was somewhat chaotic with incomplete and inaccurate information given to passengers. Very poor communication on the part of Icelandair, or whoever they contract this function to. We expected to be able to leave the airport the next morning, but were told that the flight would not leave until 5 p.m. Then they changed the time to 8:20 p.m. but didn't announce that. Then that flight delayed until 9:00 p.m. We finally got off the ground a little after 10:00 p.m. On top of all this, many passengers' entertainment systems did not work, and this made for a very long and frustrating flight. Not good, Icelandair.
Cons: Our plane was diverted to refuel - after an hour and a half of increasingly cryptic and contradictory communications while sitting on the ground, we were removed from the plane and given cots to sleep on the airport floor. No staff present to provide information, no communication by email, noone available by phone, no updates on the website, vague rumors from another airline's staff of a "possible flight" the following evening.....no idea how/when we'd get back to Denver. We got a car and started driving...huge vote of no confidence in Iceland Air, its equipment and staff.
Pros: Crew was pleasant. Leg room was better then on airlines in the U.S., and it was much easier to get out of the seat with the armrest lifting mon the aisle seat.
Cons: The boarding process was difficult, as four flights to the U.S. were leaving at the same time and it was almost impossible to get to the gate because of the thick wall of people and no aisles. We were then put on a bus to the plane, but the bus didn't leave for over 30 minutes, well after the takeoff time, and no explanation was given. The temperature on the plane was extremely uncomfortable. Most of the time, it was very hot, and I am accustomed to flights being on the cool side and requesting a blanket. But someone must have been adjusting the temperature, because it would get cold for a short period of time, and then very hot again. It was difficult to sleep because of the temperature. It would have been nice to have some small snacks like pretzels offered with the drinks, and a larger selection of food available.
Pros: I like the flight schedule - leaving Paris at 200 pm and arriving in US AT 7:30 PM. Flight was smooth and connection quick.
Cons: A little snack will nice on such a long trip (7 hours), especially when I pay $1,500 the round trip. Thank you for feeding my granddaughter.

Cons: Flight was delayed leaving Reykjavik. I watched our baggage be removed from the plane and head to the opposite side of the airport. It was over 30 minutes later that they announced that there was a mechanical issue with our plane and we had to switch planes. The passengers deplaned, boarded buses and were transported to the new plane. We finally took off over 2 hours late. The other major issue we had is that we were located near the back of the plane and the smell of urine and toilet chemicals was overwhelming. Every time the restroom was used, the stench permeated the back of the plane.
Pros: The cleanliness and comfort of the plane as well as digital devices.
Cons: The plane was 30 minutes late boarding passengers so we lost our place in line for takeoff, resulting in a 60 minute delay meaning nearly missing our connection to Boston. There was no information given either by the captain or the crew and finally, a barely audible apology at the end of the flight.
Pros: The aircraft, especially the restrooms, was very clean. The crew worked very hard to ensure our comfort. The seats were as comfortable as they ever get on a 757. R routing slips through the gift shop between arrival and departure is a good idea . Even those with a short connection get a chance to buy a puffin.
Cons: The terminal at keflavik is under construction this makes arrivals and departures extremely chaotic both on the ramp and in the terminal. The arrangement of gates is so chaotic that it is often very difficult to get to your gate because of large number of passengers waiting in line at their gate.
Cons: Keflavik Airport, where all transfers are done, is a MESS. There are too few jetways, so you wind up waiting for a BUS to take you to the terminal in the COLD. Once through immigration, you are dumped directly in to the DUTY FREE SHOP that you can NOT avoid. Imagine being late for your next flight, and having to steer your carry on baggage around crowded store isles! Then, you manage to find your gate...which is an effort in itself, as there are few signs...and there is ONE agent checking boarding passes of this massive crowd that is not lined up at ALL. Once in the air, Iceland Air performs well. But on the ground, it is nothing less than a MESS.
Cons: See above. On the flight from Denver to Amsterdam (you didn't ask about this, but I'll comment anyway), we had business class seats. They were really little more than large regular seats with legroom. We did get food on the flights, unlike the economy class. I have a major gripe about Icelander not telling you how their definitions of seating class differs from the rest of the Western airline industry. Quite deceptive.
Pros: The previous Icelandair flight from Paris to Reykiavik was late and arrived over an hour after the scheduled departure time for the Reykiavik to Denver segment. We were assured that the flight would wait for the late arrivals, and it did. We were, of course, greatly relieved. I can't help wondering, however, How could a scheduled flight be held up for this long and how would the passengers already on the plane feel.
Cons: Only drinks like water, tea, coffee and juices are served free on Icelandair flights. There is a menu for sandwiches and snacks. But the selection is rather anemic for a 7 hour long flight.
Pros: Smooth flight even when descending into Denver with stormy skies.
Cons: Biggest complaint is that a foot got broken off my largest suitcase somewhere between London and Denver. Not possible of course to tell when that happened, but it makes the suitcase pretty unusable now. A plastic connector for a strap on another suitcase got broken on my outbound journey too. Luggage handlers must be unnecessarily rough with the luggage to make that happen. Not sure I'll fly Icelandair again because of that. I was not able to get the "my journey" screen to work on the screen, but otherwise the video and sound qualities were good and controls worked well. After landing, something made a terrible squeal while taxiing to the airport (landing gear?). If my car sounded like that, I'd surely take it in and get it fixed!
Cons: It is ridiculous, or a new norm, that airlines are not serving food or drinks even on the transcontinental flights.
Pros: Clean plane and movies
Cons: For an international flight, everything was limited: pay for food, movies and tv shows were old, and the seats were the new cheap and thin ones Frontier Airline has. Will not be flying Icelandair again to anywhere else unless it's to go to Iceland direct from Denver again.
Pros: Seats were very comfortable, crew was very nice.
Cons: At the airport gate in Reykjavik, it felt a bit chaotic. Just a long line of people waiting to board for a long time. Not much organization
Pros: I just wanted to let the airline know that two attendants, and I am sorry I didn't get their names, but were on my flight, were extremely kind and helpful to me. I have some health issues and I started to feel ill. They made sure I had all the water/liquid I needed, and they checked in with me quite a bit. Very appreciated. Thank you
Cons: Seats of course are so tiny. I am small - 5'7" and 108 pounds - and it is hard for me to "curl" into the seat the way I do on most airlines. Pretty uncomfortable, but I cannot imagine how larger people even manage.
Pros: Best thing is they got me another flight for no extra cost when the one I had was canceled. Not the best flight but for the price I would definitely fly again! Very small and easy airport to get through and everyone is very friendly. They come around multiple times offering free drinks and food for purchase. I really enjoyed the flights. Good shows and movies for entertainment.
