Students with an F-1 or M-1 visa and their F-2 and M-2 dependents, if they arrive from or have been in Ireland, the UK or Schengen Area in the past 14 days.

I was forced into a middle seat and was uncomfortable and dehydrated the majority of the trip. Nice girl at baggage check said she'd ask a manager to move me, and to let them know at the gate, but the people at the gate said no. I felt discriminated against because I didn't book through them and/or I'm not Japanese. They historically love to put mushrooms in their food, like a fetish. This left me with one choice for the entree - some version of oyakodon - eggs and chicken. In my box there were two enormous chunks of fat/skin and another unidentifiable part of the chicken, and about the amount of edible chicken as 1 1/2 nuggets from Chick-Fil-A. There was more lotus root than chicken, so basically I had a box of rice and scrambled eggs with garnish. For the second meal, it was the Yoshinoya gyudon - a small serving of thinly sliced beef with rice. If I bought this fresh at a Yoshinoya restaurant, it would cost about $3. It's the rough equivalent of serving you a McDouble - cheap and filling and a coin toss if you get stomach pains. I lost that coin toss. Unless there is a big fare difference or I find out that their reserved seat policies are changed, I will choose ANA or another carrier. I used to enjoy JAL, but I cannot abide by idiotic decisions that seemed designed to punish people for using 3rd-party booking sites or who are not Japanese."

The crew at check-in told me I could keep my purse with me, and the crew on the airline told me I had to put it overhead. Please be consistent! Flying is very stressful for me, and I want the staff to make it as stress-free as possible. As for boarding, I wasn't allowed into the gate until an hour before. What really bothered me was that they had already let some people into the gate and shut some other people out. Either let people in or don't. Don't follow the rules halfway because then they won't mean anything. I was very shocked by this and have never experienced this at any airline before. All I wanted to do was sit down and relax at the gate before boarding. If this ever happened to me again, I would not fly with the same airlines. To think that this was a JAL flight, with such a high reputation of customer service, makes me even more wary of booking a flight with JAL. I didn't appreciate being treated that way, and I will not tolerate it if it happens again."

We were told that it was done and just call back on 3/7 to confirm flight. When we called back on 3/7, they said the flight was never rescheduled and could not find a voice recording of the request. Despite our offering of evidence of our other ticket from Osaka to TPE (3/3-3/8 round trip) showing that it was not a no-show, and we have phone records of calling JAL on 3/1. Nevertheless, their customer care center in CHINA was firm that it cannot be done. The money has been wasted. Ridiculous service for a 3,500 business class ticket."

We had to use the safety manuals to fan ourselves. We eventually left late and got to Lagos one and half hours we were meant to get there. Lastly not all the luggage arrived. Two days into my arrival and I am yet to get all my luggage. It was truly a horrible experience which was echoed by fellow passengers."

Cons: "We were at the back of the plane, which was pretty difficult for my 6'6" husband and his long legs. We were told every seat was full (because of the IT problem). However, after takeoff it became apparent that there were some empty seats, but they weren't offered to us. One man was asleep across three exit row seats, for example. We had two seats in a three seat row, which would have given us a bit more room, but a woman was moved to the window seat with us, to accommodate a religious man who didn't want to sit next to her. She was very nice, but the whole situation was annoying and distasteful. And, unfortunately, the food was just as bad as our last flight."

Also, entertainment: they had a movie on the pop-down screens, and 4 free movies to stream to your device using on-board Wifi, as well as 2 TV shows. So maybe I'm being harsh. But it was a transcontinental flight and they didn't have headrest screens loaded with movies. Is this only for international flights? The movies were bad, or at least not appealing to me ('Keanu' and 'Zoolander 2'). It was possible to pay for additional movies, but who wants to do that? It was sort of the EasyJet model, where you get good basic service but pay for everything additional that one gets for free on Delta. Maybe that was reflected in the price I paid for the ticket, but I was expecting that AA would be in the same league as United and Delta. One nice perk: free wifi for T-Mobile customers, including me."

We were told the flight might have to refuel in Richmond due to major weather delays in LGA. When we were landing they said they expected a refuel and a quick turnaround in Richmond. On the plane after landing, I learned via my phone's internet the flight was cancelled. They never announced it on the plane. At the final moment before we disembarked, the crew told us to be sure to take our belongings. When we landed, Flightaware showed delays of 45 minutes at LGA. AA never took responsibility for the problem though the gate crew mentioned they canceled the flight because the crew was going to be over their maximum hours. AA really couldn't plan to allow for up to an hour delay? I feel disrespected and even deceived. Although it was clear that flight attendant really needed to get off that plane. At the gate, we were told there were no available flights to NYC and were stranded overnight in Richmond. AA did offer a hotel pretending it was a courtesy since they claimed the problem was weather related and not theirs. We chose to stay with relatives and were told AA could only provide transportation from the airport which we did not need. We often have problems and cancellations on this route from when it was branded a US Air route to the present, but this was egregious."

I still managed to reach on time. my 1st stop was LaGuardia and there my gate was exchanged several times and my flight was delayed for 2 hours to Montreal Canada. I reach Montreal and missed my connecting flight to Winnipeg. Again American Airlines did not reschedule for me, the best they can do is give me a $12 voucher for food. So I get my rescheduled for a flight 3 hours later with an additional atop to Toronto. Unfortunately due to all these circumstances I miss one of the wedding events. I was supposed to reach Winnipeg at 4pm but end up reaching at 12:30am. When returning from Winnipeg, I came across more problems. My flight was cancelled due to weather, and again it is delayed for two hours. Our plane had left the gate and so when the airports in NY were closed we were far from the gate. They made us take our luggage and walk back to the airport. There were no clear instructions given and again I had to reschedule. I was stuck in a country with no family or friends at the airport two hours short of a 24hour day. I am really disappointed in the kind of treatment I received as a flyer, and I have flown many times with other airlines. I also don't buy from Kayak, and this will be the first and last time I ever do."

The flight attendants were pleasant and friendly and the food was delicious. We actually arrived ahead of our adjusted ETA, after a very smooth flight."

Finally, the gate agents rounded up some wheelchairs that were sitting around nearby just to get us off the plane and to the gate area. After waiting about 15 minutes, while hearing the gate agents being told repeatedly by the wheelchair dispatcher on the radios that they were coming and were passing through security, 2 female attendants finally arrived and they took the two elderly ladies and off they went, leaving me there waiting. I continued to wait, and wait, and wait for ANOTHER 25 MINUTES, total of 40 minutes after arrival at the gate. The same dispatcher lady continued to say that my attendant was on the way, passing through security for the entire 25 minutes. He asked me to change wheelchairs because he liked his better. He didn't offer to take my laptop bag and put it behind. He took off down the concourse before my feet were even on the footrests, with me holding my legs out in front of me because the footrests were up. After 20 or 30 feet, I got him to stop and let me get my feet down. I told him our luggage was supposed to be at carousel E, so he took me to "A". He asked me if any of the bags there were mine, and I said, "Why would they be here? I told you we were on Carousel E!" So then he wheeled me to Carousel E, and since it had now been almost an hour, it was empty. He asked an attendant where my bag would be, and was told to check at the office, which was back over by Carousel A. Upon finally checking with the personnel in the office, he came out rolling my bags and stood them by me for me to deal with while he just pushed the wheelchair. I had told him I was taking Uber, so he deposited me curbside near the taxi stand, which was not anywhere near where Uber could pick me up and was gone. FINALLY, after arriving earlier than expected at 3:25, at 4:43 I was finally picked up by Uber to go on home. What a nightmare! I thought the wheelchairs were supposed to be waiting upon arrival????"
