Tempting fare for a long haul flight. Luckily they had new air craft 787 on this sector.

Bad food.

One leg of the flight was a dreamliner.

Food was the worst I have had in memory. Crew are also the worst I have experienced in memory.

Crew was friendly, about as expected for the cheap price

No vegetarian option, in flight headphones were useless, can't use phone AT ALL during flight, gate was changed without warning (no announcements over the PA or notices posted that it was changed)

I liked that the crew was attentive to our needs.

For a modern plane the seats are very hard on an eleven hour flight Having flown China Southern before on this route I brought along a memory foam seat squab this time! Very impressive is the transit hotel accommodation provided free for transits over eight hours.

That I got on the flight. That it was cheap.

That every single southern china air flight was delayed, which nearly caused me to miss my other flights on the way back. When we were on the plane they didn't even tell us the flight was going to be delayed, we just sat on the plane for an hour twiddling our thumbs. No reasons given, will not flight southern china again

Boarding was easy. clean plane, crew was very friendly. I was very concerned though, when we banked left and did a complete circle in the air. An explanation from the captain would have been terrific. I made sure I was the last one to leave the plane and asked him about it when I saw him at the exit. He told me what happened but I would have liked to know while it was happening. Besides that, the coke and pretzels were divine. :)

Punctual departure, early arrival. Cabin crew was very attentive. Plenty of drinks to keep hydrated. Lots of movie and entertainment choices.

Seat cushioning was worn out...not so comfortable for a long flight. Limited leg room. Unless you were seated at the beginning rows of the food service, there was only one food choice left. Also ran out of snacks for the back rows.

The only positive thing was that the flight was on time.

Cabin crew was largely absent. The seats were small and there was no legroom. The food was mediocre, but edible. Alcoholic drinks were limited to a red wine, a white wine, and beer, none of which were good.The bathrooms were quite dirty, though that is more a reflection of the passengers than of the crew.

China Southern's economy seats are spacious for legroom and seat width and the entertainment system is well stocked with movies/TV shows/music. Some entertainment systems will also com with a USB port to charge your device (if it's allowed to be used). All seats come with pillow and blanket to keep you warm throughout the flight.

Any mobile devices that can be used as a cell phone are not allowed to be on or used while on board the flight. This includes mobile phones in flight mode (China Southern explained to me that this is Chinese law), so don't expect to do anything with your mobile phone which means you're basically using their entertainment system. They will stop and tell you midflight to turn off your phone. Food was horrible, no soap in the bathrooms, and boarding/deboarding in Guangzhou was a test of patience. Having been through Guangzhou twice, despite there being multiple gates for planes to pull into for arrival, they'll always deplane you to the tarmac where buses will be waiting. They'll then drive you to an arrival's terminal where you're forced through a long line that leads to a China Southern desk for them to stamp your boarding pass to wait for your next flight. This line was 30 minutes long for our plane alone and increased as more arrived. Boarding was the same where you get on a bus, stand for 10-15 minutes while they drive you to a plane that was for whatever reason was attached to another gate that no one had access to and you've climbing stairs to board again. The airport itself is devoid of many food or coffee shops and what's available is expensive and of low quality/taste. Expect to see endless construction, many unclean bathrooms where the toilet seats don't even fit the toilet they've been attached to, and lack of soap in the bathrooms.

Crew was nice. Flight was an hour late getting off the ground.

The staff were great with my dog(golden retriever) really helped me... Also the service overall was fantastic best journey I have experienced yet travelling to China and I have lived here 8 years so probably 100 flights

Have flown with them several times. They have up graded their planes much better. The staff are cold. You get what you pay for.

Is there enough space? No choice of meals- only fish with rice (I hate fish); drinks served ONLY during drink service time (don't bother asking for one because that's what you'll hear); no personal entertainment center (6 hour flight with no movies); and Shanghai Pudong Airport absolutely sucks. The airport has spotty Wifi, terrible restaurants with worse service, and what kind of country doesn't allow Facebook!?! Pay the extra $100-200 and avoid this airline and airport.

The gate agent helped half a dozen people (not including those described below) understand they were boarding with the wrong group.

Fully one-quarter of the passengers boarded as disability or premium. This included a party of eight that boarded with one person in a wheelchair because "We're all together."

There is no much I can say that I like.

Two of the flights were delayed. The first delay from Bangkok to Shanghai caused that I missed my connecting flight. It was a nightmafre at Shanghai airport. I was forced to go through immigrations and customs and rechecked for the next flight. It was a poor way of handling a passenger on a misconnected flight due to the airline fault.

My husband and I flew from Chicago to Bangkok with a layover in Shanghai Pudong airport. The flight was comfortable. I enjoyed the food, and entertainment choices. The flight attendants were courteous and helpful.

No one answered any phone calls. I couldn't confirm my flight 24h before as recommended. My husband's flight was moved a day earlier leaving from Bangkok due to overbooking, so we called to have his flight upgraded but we couldn't reach anyone. We asked at the check-in counter for the airline to upgrade his flight but were told that we needed to call to do that. We did! But no one answered! The website was always down when trying to reserve seats. My husband and I were seated separately even though we checked in together on the last leg of flight from Shanghai to Bangkok and there were plenty of seats leftover that we could have been seated. The plane was not even full.

1. Seat distance by far too less. 2. seat width on the borderline of being acceptable. 3.. No entertainment, not even a flight info screen available. 4. Only instant coffee available. If it is instant, cappuccino or other café specialities should be available. Emirates and Etihad make the example. 5. Food okay - but not for french airline. No innovation, no thought in it. Standard "how do I get the cattle fed the cheapest possible" food. 6. Electrical / USB / Network plugs or WIFI unknown.
