Crew, entertainment and food service was excellent
Seats too crowded for 8 hour flight. As soon as the person in front leans back you have no room it is unbelievably uncomfortable to have a seat back in your face for that long!
They have no charging points for the phone

The economy seats are more comfortable than average transatlantic flights on other airlines, albeit far from perfect. The meal was nicer too. The crew both onboard and on land was nice and attentive.
The entertainment system is slow and the selection of films to watch could be better.

Cattle call boarding.... No system. We prepaid 80 Euro for two carry-on size bags because they were slightly over the 10 kilo limit and then they announced at the gate that if carton bags were over size or weight, they would check the free. Really!!!!
Food provided. Enough overhead bin space for bags. Newish plane. On demand entertainment screen.
Couldn’t change seat at checkin so couldn’t sit next to husband on a separate reservation. Not many new movies.
Seats were comfortable and the flight attendants very attentive.
Having to pay for food or drinks. It's not that much to offer some peanuts and a coke. I would have liked the cabin lighting dimmed sooner and less early before landing.
Vegetarian food options! Crew, especially Kiaren, was lovely- polite and attentive, and it was a very bumpy flight, so they had to work harder than usual.

Service and Care with sense of humor! I have sat in both business and economy, and while I prefer the room in business, I still feel the service is just as wonderful in economy. I got all I asked for including bubbly in economy! I like to stay awake on the way back to the US and asked for two coffee's and a bubbly, a ginger and an OJ just before dinner & refills on cafe. Of course I thought I was pushing it to ask for it all at once, but they laughed, proceeded to fill my wishes and with a good sense of humor asked If I wanted anything else! I actually got everything I asked for! Super!
I pre bought my seat and chose an aisle. The plane was changed and I ended up in a window seat within the same row I had chosen on the other plane lay out. I prefer the aisle as I like to get up a lot and hate to annoy others who may prefer not to get up every time I do. I was lucky that the flight had plenty of empty seats and was able to move to an aisle after asking. What happens on a full flight? I would have been really upset. What is the point of pre-booking one' s seat? If the plane is changed, BA ought to take care to make sure a pre-booked seat gets a window/aisle near the row they chose. I suspect that is more important than the row on a long flight.
the pre-boarding for families with kids was nice, the staff were helpful during the flight
The flight home to DC was fine. The flight going to London from DCA was horrible.The deserts on the kids meals had mold on them. My daughter was vomiting as a result of the food. It ate into our trip which was hard for us as we were visiting my grandmother who is not well. We contacted the airline about it and their proposed compensation was not what we were expecting. Honestly we plan to make an annual trip but based on our experiences with this trip maybe we'll choose a different airline.
