Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
"The staff was very helpful! But the delays were terrible! I couldn’t make it to my destination until almost 16 hrs later and I have work."
"Flight was on time. Crew courteous and knowledgeable. Good flight"
"Staff, flight, all good."
"The gate crew at Asheville was very friendly and on top of letting passengers know why things were being delayed. The air crew was friendly. The delay experienced through American Airlines (American Eagle) was inconvenient and made for a long day without any sleep. The flight was smooth. However, the seats were obviously in need of new cushions. They were hard and uncomfortable. The aircraft was clean, though."
"We had a very attentive and bubbly flight attendant in our cabin. She made the flight more enjoyable. There were some issues fueling up so we ended up sitting in to plane too long, but that's no fault of American. These things happen."
"Everything went perfectly. Check-in, bag drop, etc. The flight and crew were excellent."
"Flight was delayed."
Cons: "Wouldn’t know, couldn’t make it and the rebooking for a new flight was a nightmare"
Cons: "Less Fully packed plane during Covid"
Pros: "Turbulence Ear popping"
Pros: "Empty seat between us. Entertainment was good. Bags made it to the baggage claim before we did!"
Cons: "Flight attendant had an attitude when I boarded. I went to put my carryon item in overhead compartment and she questioned me asking my seat number. My seat included a carryon and she had an attitude for no reason."
Pros: "Smooth ight"
Cons: "Need to add cabin service"
Pros: "The crew was great and separation of passengers unless traveling together was great as well!"
Cons: "My luggage was completely soaked, ruining important paperwork, clothing and even my parking lot ticket for me to exit the parking garage. Apparently they didn’t even try to cover the passengers luggage."
Cons: "None of the USB outlets were working in isle 7 A-C"
Cons: "Flight was rerouted to another airport due to poor weather at Philly. 3 hours later we arrived at Philly, but I missed my connecting flight."
Cons: "IFE was not streaming movies, WiFi on but not loading"
Cons: "More comfortable seats you can sleep in"
Pros: "The cleanliness and the seat arrangements"
Cons: "Snacks could have been given & Small bottled water."
Pros: "Always a friendly crew"
Cons: "A slight delay that they could have been quicker to alert us of"
Cons: "Staff gave us a hard time with our 15 month old sons luggage. Almost missed our flight as a result"
Pros: "Entertainment Screen in the seat back in front of me"
Cons: "Deplaning. On one of my other flights this week they released us 3 rows at a time to limit social distancing. Thought that was going to be the norm but I guess not."
Pros: "Ground crew was great, they kept us informed about our 3 hrs delay"
Cons: "Get a crew in in less than 3hrs Some people has plans"
Cons: "The plane was completely packed despite the COVID pandemic. A stranger sat next to me on the plane (distance of about 6 inches, not 6 feet). What social distancing? And yet they conveniently said no food/drink beverage for safety reasons. Good way for the airline to save a few bucks. Other airlines (like JetBlue) block out adjacent sears and give snacks in individual bags but this... I flew several times since the pandemic began and this was by far the worst. What a joke of an airline. Never flying them again"
Pros: "I am no longer comfortable with airline seats, bad nerve in back of leg."
Cons: "Poor communication about “Red-tagging” carry on luggage"
Cons: "Serve cofee"
Cons: "The crew failed to enforce ANY mask policy. The WiFi did not work. They over served alcohol to the passengers."
Pros: "The employees were as good as they could be, given the atrocious handling of the situation by American Airlines and its policies."
Cons: "We were 1.5 hours late leaving for an unknown reason (not weather). Then, it appeared that we didn't try and make up the lost time in the air (we also landed 1.5 hours late.) This caused a significant proportion of the passengers to miss their connecting flights. American didn't do anything to help other than offer a "discount" of about $10 off of over $100/night hotel rooms in the Philadelphia area to sleep overnight in Philadelphia. This was absolutely lousy customer service by American, and will definitely make me avoid American Airlines in the future."
Cons: "Wheel got stuck during takeoff. Had to fly standby to get home. Originally told I would not get home that day. It was 8 am"
Pros: "The pasta meal was quite good"
Cons: "Some more space. Individual entertainment. Air quality"
Pros: "Seating had more space, the crew very relaxed and good humour as well as professionalism."
Cons: "Well the flight was short, so not much more could be done on this particular flight. The restroom could be a tad larger but think was on an older aircraft."
Pros: "After the initial delay, the female desk agent got us on another connecting flight without a problem. Second flights attendant was also great."
Cons: "They boarded the plane, only to tell us they had to de-ice, which is understandable. However, after waiting 20 min for the de-icing that never came, they made us get back off the plane because of mechanical issues. The captain/pilot was rude to the woman working the desk over the radio, to the point where she had to leave the desk and go speak to him in person (she knew we could hear everything.) That conversation is also how the whole line of people was informed that then knew about this mechanical issue since the night before, and chose not to fix it before boarding all of us. After getting to Philadelphia later than expected, we were forced to pay for hotel food that was horrible and overpriced. Only to then have our plane be delayed AGAIN because of mechanical issues, again the pilot not giving much information to the attendant she was faced by a room of 40 angry people and had no answers. The departure time slowly crawled out longer, and the only reason I knew was because of having the American app. Information/communication on all ends was poor. I usually fly Allegiant, which is notoriously “cheap,” and I’ve never had an experience like this. Happy my boyfriend has flown with American before and knew to give us an extra day so we didn’t miss the wedding we paid $800 in airline tickets to attend. Just disappointed."
Pros: "Efforts to get us to Philadelphia"
Cons: "Got to Philly - no one there - rushed 2 concourses and plane still there with daughter on-board. They gave away our seats, told us we would not get on, would not get our baggage and would not get put up in a hotel. Because of the NBA draft - had to travel 60 miles to New Jersey for a hotel. Lost a day, lost 2 tours, endured additional hotel costs...and the attendant made it clear she was on overtime and we just needed to move on. American Airlines is too big and consolidation of airlines has not been good for the public."
Cons: "The flight was delayed and then the airport in Philadelphia "wasn't aware" that we were coming to it took forever to get off the plane. I would have missed my next flight if they didn't wait for us. Also I couldn't check in online beforehand, which was frustrating. Also I waited in line at the British Airways desk to check in and it was a long line. When I finally got to the front I was told I had to check in at the American Airlines desk and I wish I had been told that earlier. One staff member was rude when I asked him to repeat the food options."
Pros: "AA got me home safe."
Cons: "Entertainment was nonexistant. Most movies were unavailable and those that were would start and then say “no longer available” monitor did not work. I was not the only passenger with issues. Many could not get system to work. Antiquated and/or poorly maintained. Also, announcement made it seem as if you had to pay for wine/beer/spirits. I wasn’t drinking so it didnt matter but at other times this would have been a hassle. Never had this on an international flight. Flight was okay just not top drawer like it used to be. Cost cutting measures have impacted the brand. Would not say it is first tier. Dont mind a “no frills” flight if it results in lower cost to consumer (aka Southwest Airlines)"
Pros: "Crew was courteous Boarding was effortless thanks to the AA app"
Cons: "Multiple flight and boarding delays Aircraft needs cleaning/update"
Pros: "The in flight staff was very friendly"
Cons: "Our 2nd flight was changed by the airline, causing us to have a 6 hour layover in Philadelphia instead of a 2 hour layover. Then when we ask about changing to a different flight they told us that the original flight we were supposed to be on (that we booked over 8 months ago) was completely full so that’s why we were moved, and there were no other flights available to switch to. So we accepted that. But when we printed our boarding passes, we saw that our seats were now separate from each other, and they were both middle seats! I don’t understand how booking my tickets so far in advance still resulted in these issues. We were finally able to get an aisle and window seat (not near each other) but both flights had poor to little entertainment, which I wouldn’t have expected on such long flights with American Airlines. Really was letdown. :("
Pros: "I arrived in Sydney the day I was supposed to. Everything else was a let down and was not what I paid for."
Cons: "American Airlines cancelled a flight because of ‘weather’ from Msy to dfw, all other flights from Msy to Dallas operated on time but were sold out. We were re booked flying through San Francisco, missing out on flying on qantas, which is what I had paid for since they are a premium airline. We were booked on virgin America and then United for the international flight. United charged us each for 2 bags totalling $150 each, despite we booked a ticket with qantas which allows 2 bags each. Virgin America honoured our 2 bags, but united refused to. United also has service and aircraft which do not match the levels of qantas which I has specifically sought out. I could not eat some of the food because of the poor quality, and this is something I’ve never done before on an international flight. Additionally their were a lack of amenities on both flights, and no food vouchers despite our travel delay of over 5 hours. This whole ordeal has cost me money, worktime, and created a lot of stress to where I have had to cancel meeting on my arrival in Sydney."
Cons: "We had five pieces of luggage lost during our flight from the U.S. to Spain. When we arrived in Madrid we were told that all five pieces had been located. When we went to pick them up the next day there were only four pieces at the airport. We were told the fifth suitcase would be delivered when it was located. It's ten days later and there's no sign of the luggage. It has taken multiple phone calls to get the information about the luggage correct. They assure me that they have everything correctly documented and then when I call back they haven't changed a thing. It has been a very frustrating process overall."
Pros: "Not much."
Cons: "The flight was late due to maintenance and caused us to miss our connecting flight to Chicago. American Airlines customer assistance at the airport was absolutely terrible. They were rude and inconsiderate as they kept suggesting to fly standby. We shouldn't have to fly standby when it wasn't our fault why were late. They told us our bags would be ok going to Chicago and they we would make the flight, but we did not. I do not know why didn't wait for us considering there were 8 others that also missed the connecting flight. We had to fly to Denver and stay overnight with no luggage and catch a 7:00am flight to Chicago. The last surprise I received was my damaged bag when I got back to Chicago. Thank you for making this trip memorable in a terrible way. I will never book or recommend Kayak or use American Airlines again."
Cons: "American Airlines DISCRIMINATES especially against the elderly! The airlines took my family of 6 off the flight that I booked 6 months in advance, and I had no flight out of Munich, Germany. I do not know why. I called and had them put us back on the flight. I paid extra for seats so that we could all sit together. The seats were given to others and my family could not sit together. The American Airlines employees were not helpful at all! The agent, Rowna, lied to us that we would be sitting together. They will not reimburse me for paying extra for seats that I did not get. The porter that pushed my mother in the wheelchair was more helpful than any employee."
Pros: "Nice flight, great leg room, staff was friendly and flight was on time."
Pros: "Because this flight was NOT full, my wife and I had the entire center section to stretch out. This made our 7.5 hour flight amazingly comfortable. The Airbus A300 was a reasonably new aircraft. Everything was clean and looked good. The food was exceptionally good. My wife and I both commented on how good the food was (my wife stated, "it was the best airplane food ever"). The main meal, the hotbox snack, and the late in flight chocolate ice cream were ALL good. The staff were great, friendly, service oriented, nice people."
Cons: "Navigating through Heathrow"
Pros: "We were notified of the pending delay in our flight from Athens to Philly very promptly on the morning of the 10th. We immediately called and spoke to a British Airways agent and also a supervisor who was understanding and kind enough to accommodate us by reserving seats on a later connecting flight with American Airlines from Philly to Phoenix. We did not receive a confirming email and ended up calling back. We were then told that Vouchers will be waiting for us at the Philadelphia airport with our names."
Cons: "When we checked in at Athens airport there was no information available for our connecting flight in Philadelphia. The AA counter was chaotic, the agents were rude and had changed our seats to 2 separate areas. When we arrived in Philadelphia there were no vouchers waiting for us. The only thing that the agent could find were seat assignments . We stood in line over an hour waiting for her to figure out what had happened and almost missed our connecting flight . Even though my daughter was in a wheelchair with a brace on her leg and in pain, the agent at the counter was not very empathetic at all. The agent also kept saying that this was not correct somebody made a mistake to tell us we were booked and that person will get in trouble. Eventually she spoke with the supervisor and gave us 2 boarding passes."
Cons: "Boarding-we boarded class 9 and had a carry on that was to big so all 3 personnel yelled at me and my husband with my daughter in my arms very loud and disrespectfully " YOU CAN NOT BRING THESE TYPE OF BAGS ON THE PLANE!" Mind you 3 people are saying this while other people were also waiting to board the plane! So I quickly say we do not need 3 people to tell us 1 thing and especially yelling at us like we were kids or criminals because it felt like we must have broke the law the way they treated us! That experience was horrible and ruined my liking for AA"
Pros: "Flight wasn't full so I had the row to myself and got to stretch out. Great selection of movies. Decent food."
Cons: "One FA seemed visibly annoyed with me; I'm honestly not sure what I did. I am a FA for another airline; didn't identify myself as such but always make sure to not be "that passenger." During two beverage services she did not ask me if I wanted anything but simply looked at me with disdain and sighed loudly. She wasn't rude; just not friendly and I never once saw her smile. She seemed tired and annoyed. I understand that feeling. I've been a FA for 16 years, still junior at my company, but it reminded me how important body language and facial expressions are when we work hospitality and customer service in the public eye. I hope everything is ok with her and I'm sorry if I did something that irritated her. I didn't get her name."
Pros: "Food, OK legroom, complimentary wine & beer on a US carrier"
Cons: "Barely functioning ancient touchscreen system"
Pros: "The Ticket agent was very helpful and friendly. The air crew and Flight Attendants were very nice and helpful. The wheel chair attendant who initially took me to my gate in Las Vegas was very friendly, and helpful, and she did everything she could possibly have done, short of leaving another passenger to come take care of me, which wouldn't have been right. I was there when she called her supervisor and advised him/her of my location and of my needs and she received confirmation. Was not her fault."
Cons: "I checked in with American and a wheel chair attendant assisted me to my gate. My wheel chair needed charged and I was two hours early, so the attendant sat me at the charging station because there were no outlets in the gate area. She contacted her supervisor to advise of my location and that I would need assistance. Nobody came for me. I gathered my things the best I could and struggled to get to the gate to get attitude from the gate agent, telling me the wheel chair attendant was there looking for me. What ever happen to using a paging system when you know the passenger who is disabled checked in two hours earlier? Had someone paged, maybe I could have flagged their attention, or maybe they could have called the company in charge of handling their wheel chair attendance and would have known where I could be located. Either way, the attitude is uncalled for, especially when I apologized and stated that the wheel chair attendant was expected to help me."
Pros: "Equipment was an A330. I was seated in Row 11 and had priority boarding. As a result, I had considerable leg room and not trouble finding overhead space. Seating in the back has several inches less "pitch" between seats. A330s provide a very smooth ride."
Cons: "Food: Salad was good, you could taste the arugula. Chicken, once you scrape off the barbecue sauce, was decent. The rest of the lunch did not seem worth eating. The best option if you are hungry is to either eat in the terminal or bring something you do enjoy with you. The movie selection had nothing you likely have not seen already. Be aware that sometimes PHL moves slowly. We waited over 5 minutes for the plane door to open. Bags took about 40 minutes to come up. There were no lines at immigration. Connecting in less than 2 hours can be iffy."
Cons: "Luggage took over 45min"
Cons: "Get rid of middle seat seating please. don’t mind paying for the fares slightly more. thank you!"
Pros: "The crew was great"
Cons: "Nicer seating"
Cons: "Crew didn’t wear masks correctly to prevent COVID, seats didn’t recline on red eye, seats were hard"
Cons: "Your workers stole from me I spend money with the airline just too have you guys take from my hard working things"
Cons: "Due to power outage at the airport, my flight was cancelled. I called to talk with an agent, who were only able to check alternative routes one at a time and it was a total waste of time. I suggested that they call me back after they do some research. They promised to call back in 30 minutes but never did. After more than an hour I called again to talk with a second agent, who simply asked me to contact the third party through which I booked my ticket. The third party called them on my behalf and I was offered two options: 1) to get a full refund; 2) to get a replacement ticket for a flight that's FOUR DAYS after my original flight. What a joke!"
Pros: "Frontier was awesome! Super nice cabin crew, great pilot, left on time and early arrival!"
Pros: "We landed safely"
Cons: "We were delayed to depart. Not enough leg room."
Pros: "Chairs don’t recline"
Pros: "Flight was significantly delayed. The 3 people I was traveling with received $75 vouchers for the huge inconvenience, but I never got that email."
Cons: "Flight was significantly delayed. The 3 people I was traveling with received $75 vouchers for the huge inconvenience, but I never got that email."
Cons: "No reason given for the delay."
Pros: "It was timely no long lines"
Cons: "No free drinks"
Pros: "Flight was smooth, on time and landed ahead of time! Crew was helpful and would definitely recommend to anyone flying!"
Cons: "The flight was delayed due to weather, which is fine, the delay was 45 minutes, not a big deal....Here's the but...when it came to boarding time, they announced that it was not going to be boarding by zones and that everyone should just get on the plane. On top of what appeared to be a mass exodus, or perhaps something you'd see in a third world country, those people who paid more $$ to have carry on bags, in zone 1 and be able to board first were most certainly not feeling the value. The gate experience was not well organized or orchestrated. After getting off the plane, our daughter realized once in baggage claim that she left her backpack on the plane. Not being experienced in this area, we asked for help. A police officer told my wife to go to Frontier office, where there was no one in the office, someone else said have them paged. There was no white courtesy phone in the area that was operating, so she went to Southwest and asked if they could page someone to come to the Frontier office and they said no, walked to next terminal to find a working courtesy phone, paged someone to Frontier and within 5 minutes ,10 people showed up. Asked if someone could help. They radioed to the gate that a passenger left their bag. What the rep should have said was that they called the gate, hopefully someone locates and if they do, they will bring it here and we will check on it in a few minutes. The person didn't say a word, 5 minutes later my wife asked what happens now. After a nice sigh and eye roll, the Frontier rep says if they found, they bring it. My wife asked would it be possible to see if they found it instead of just waiting around here for bodies to appear. The bag was eventually found and returned but the experience was just now a good one to say the least."
Pros: "The crew was friendly."
Cons: "The flight was delayed, which on its face is understandable, except that it seems to be a pattern with Frontier. Whether I'm flying them myself, or picking up someone who's flying them, the last several Frontier flights I've experienced have been delayed, often repeatedly. And then there's the luggage fees . . . I booked this most recent ticket well in advance, and wasn't sure what my luggage needs would be. When I went online to add bags, I learned that adding them post booking, but pre-airport still incurred a significant cost increase - from $25 (at booking) to $38 (a week before check in). To carry one bag and check another, I had to pay nearly $80, which was more than the cost of my actual plane ticket! I'm sorry, Frontier, but I think our relationship is coming to an end . . ."
Pros: "The crew was great. I had two amazing landings."
Cons: "There are too many additional fees. It's bad enough that I had to pay for a carry on bag....but to actually have to pay for a seat!!??? I thought my fare paid for a seat? I know I would still get a seat if I didn't pay, but I would have no idea where that seat would be until boarding. I'd rather the price of the ticket be raised by $60 and I get a free carry on and choose my seat. I paid $70 For bags and $56 for seating. And what's worse, the seats were TERRIBLE. They used to be a go to, now I will run from Frontier if I can help it."
Cons: "Horrible delay , uncourteous attendants , not even drinking water is free More or less every airline of America is like this except Southwest ."
Cons: "After being delayed on the first leg of my trip, we arrived in Denver being told to go to a particular gate. Once there we were told it was moved to another gate. This happened a total of 4 times! Again the flight was delayed. The pilot/co pilot made a negative comment on the PA about the airline after apologizing for the confusion. I was not given the opportunity to choose my seat. When I checked in, I asked to change from the middle seat I was assigned to, to a aisle seat to accommodate my long legs and severe knee arthritis. The attendant at the desk looked at my boarding pass and exclaimed "well, your flying ECONOMY so I guess you'll just have to deal with it". Drinks that are complimentary on Alaska (soft drinks, juice , water etc.) were charged for. The attendants completely skipped my row and we were not offered anything. The attendant did provide me a diet cola at no cost when I brought it to her attention. All in all a miserable trip home, in such contrast to our flight there on Alaska Airlines at the same cost."
Pros: "Check-in, Boarding and on time performance; friendly staff"
Cons: "The seats are really, really uncomfortable. Backs don't recline and the cushioning is so thin, I wondered why they bothered to put it in."
Cons: "Long delay with no explanation. The flight time changed multiple times the day of the flight."
Pros: "Nothing at all."
Cons: "The outbound flight was delayed only three hours. The return flight was delayed three hours, after which we boarded and waited. After another hour we taxied to the runway and returned. I am grateful we did not take off with a defunct left-engine. We taxied back to the airport and de-planed--but only after being instructed not to talk to the other passengers. (Really.) The flight was not cancelled, even when the plane was towed to the hangar. Finally, after six hours, Frontier offered a refund--as they had no interest in placing us on another airline that was going to the same destination. I rented a car and drove from Charlotte to Philadelphia to retrieve my own car from the airport so I could arrive home 15 hours after my scheduled arrival. Frontier couldn't care less. NEVER again."
Cons: "SO many problems, will never fly again...delayed, cancelled, rescheduled, delayed (but actually moved up to earlier time), delayed again it was UNREASONABLE and INAPPROPRIATE!!"
Pros: "Absolutely nothing"
Cons: "It was absolutely unprofessional, I understand that delays happen but to not come and talk to he customers is absolutely inappropriate and unprofessional. I will never fly Fronteir again"
Cons: "Showed up to the airport in New Orleans to find out my flight was canceled, but had to be told by people from another airline because the Frontier desk was vacant. Received no email, phone call, text or anything to tell me the flight was canceled. Not even one Frontier employee was at the airport to explain the situation. They just left a stack of papers to say the flight was canceled and they weren't offering anymore flights that day. Had to book one on another airline for the next day, so called Frontier to get reimbursed (they said very clearly on the paper that they would reimburse up to $400 in another airline) and spent over two hours on the phone getting passed around from person to person who said they couldn't help me. Still no idea if I'll be getting reimbursed. DO NOT FLY THIS AIRLINE."
Pros: "The price was good. Can't beat that for sure. Round trip for two less than 600.00"
Cons: "The landing felt like we fell out of the sky, the crew weren't really all that friendly and I found a used tampon in my magazine holder. The drinks weren't cheap and there wasn't really any real understanding of what the safety instructor was saying."
Cons: "Didn't like having to get to the airport to get a free seat. Carry ones should be free."
Pros: "$40 per carry on bag is ridiculous."
Pros: "Very cheap flight. Ticket of price of $197 Denver to Philly round trip. However, once you factored in the luggage charges, the flight came to around $314. We were delayed two hours leaving Denver, and then when we got to Philly it took an hour and a half for them to get our bags to the carousel... unfortunately that wasn't the end of it. They somehow managed to put our flights luggage in the wrong baggage claim areas, so collecting our bags was a nightmare. The worst part was after I saw how much they charged me for a checked bag and a carry on, it came out to be as much as the American Airline flight that I hadn't booked in order to save money."

Pros: "The flight arrived 10 minutes early"
Cons: "There was a lady sitting next to me with a small dog that was not in a kennel and it tried to bite not only one of the flight attendants, but me as well. The man who almost got bit told the woman that dogs should be in kennels during flights and she said "oh I don't know he's never done this before." Well awesome for you but I've never been bit by a dog on an airplane before either. The guy let it slide and moved on. The tray tables are a joke. They ONLY offer complimentary WATER. No leg room. Would not recommend."
Cons: "Frontier cancelled return flight without telling me and refusing to do anything other than refund 75$ or give me a flight 4 days later. Frontier refused to help with hotel or other accommodations and I had to rebook flight with delta for 350$ so I could get back home. Also, the employees from Frontier were extremely rude and refused to even look at me or even answer my questions. They said flight was cancelled due to weather reasons, but American Airlines was able to get planes running on only an hour delay. And, again, I never even had the common courtesy of a call or email, or text that my flight was cancelled! I had to find out when I got to the airport,"
Pros: "Nothing at all"
Cons: "I was not informed of the cancellation until 3 hours prior to flight and there was no one at the counter that could help !! They stated it was because of weather but when calling frontier directly it seems it was more because they didn't have safe and the earliest I would be able to come home on another flight of there's was Friday! No help trying to get another flight . I had to spend almost $600 on a flight from AA"
Pros: "Efficiency of staff. Time of arrival was earlier than expected."
Cons: "The seating is somewhat cramped."
Pros: "Nothing at all."
Cons: "First on the way there I was charged $45 per CARRY ON bag. Then on the way home the flight was cancelled with no returning flight for 5 days! No hotel voucher, no compensation of any kind. Flights out the next day were close $1000 for 2 people so we rented a car with 3 complete strangers who were also on the flight and drove through the night for 18 hours (also no compensation towards our car rental or gas). I am a frequent traveler and this was by far the worst travel experience of my life."
Cons: "Received email at 3:30pm that 8:15pm flight from New Orleans to Philadelphia was cancelled. Was on the way to the airport already, so didn't see the email until the lady at the desk told me it was cancelled. When I asked why, she said it was "due to weather" because it was snowy up in Philadelphia. Since they were claiming the cancellation was due to weather, they would not help arrange or pay for an alternate flight on another airline, nor cover a hotel during the time stuck there. They told us that the next flight we could take was Friday (it was Monday), which was also the day before Christmas eve. It was not snowy in Philadelphia. The plane we were supposed to be taking was arriving from Philadelphia on time. After 2hrs of being on hold and arguing with Frontier customer services, they finally admitted to my travel partner that the reason for the cancellation was actually because it would put the flight crew that they had over the legal limit of fly time without breaking/sleeping. So they lied to me completely about the reason to begin with, offered no help whatsoever to resolve the problem in a reasonable manner, and eventually admitted the real cause of the cancellation but still refused to pay for another flight. Luckily, one of my other travel companions was headed to Philadelphia via American Airlines at the same time, and had miles they were willing to let us use. Otherwise, it would have cost $2000 for the two of us to get home - or whatever it would cost to stay in a hotel for 4 nights while missing work. Never choosing them again."
Pros: "The animal on the plane was cute. Otherwise, nothing."
Cons: "The plane was late to board which they blamed on cleaning. When we finally got to our seats (both flights) they were filthy. My first seat actually had a chunk of hair and a napkin on it. My second crumbs all over the seat and floor. The seats were horribly uncomfortable and did not recline. They claim they have low fares but there were hidden costs (charges for picking seats AND carry-on bags) that we didn't learn about until we arrived at the airport and had to use money we saved to spend on vacation for the flight instead. I would have rather paid weeks ahead so I didn't have to use our fun money."
Pros: "The flight was pleasant the crew was friendly. the flight departed and landed on time."
Cons: "When I needed assistance it took the attendant at least 15 minutes to recognize my call. Another passenger had to assist. The attendant wasnt serving at the time just chatting with other passengers. i was surprised by the added fees and the seating was tight. the staff at the New Orleans terminal was borderline rude when checking bags. My friends bag was about an inch longer than the required size because of the handle and was forced to pay as a carry on. The staff in Philadelphia was more pleasant and helpful when explaining the added cost."
Pros: "Because when I speak to a customer service representative he never told me that my husband had to pay for the suitcase. And I asked him several times and his answer was no and upon arriving at the aeriopuerto he was charged $ 45.00 for the suitcase of hands"
Cons: "That they always speak to me with the truth"
Cons: "Seats did not recline"
Pros: "Round trip to MSY was cheap. then add more if you want an aisle seat, more if you want extra leg room, more if you want a soda and lots more ($40) for a carryon bag."
Cons: "Round trip to MSY was cheap. Then add more if you want an aisle seat, more if you want extra leg room, more if you want a soda and lots more ($40) for a carryon bag, plus $30 for a bag in the hold. Now that flight isn't so cheap any longer."
Pros: "Smooth all the way. Workers were good airplane was clean"
Pros: "Good and quick flight. Turbulence was scary but not anyone's fault!"
Pros: "It was a successful flight"
Cons: "Had to pay for bags and drinks, didn't seem much cheaper than other flights. Small things like lights and overhead bins were broken."
Pros: "The flight was over a half hour late, the baggage claim was late, the seats were uncomfortable. I also did not like that you get a surprise bill to pay for your seats and check in bags (which are normally free) 24 hours before the flight. No point in having lower prices tickets if I have to pay an additional $80 before I can board. Very disappointing I do not want to fly Frontier anymore."
Pros: "on time,"
Cons: "These planes are not set up for comfort. the paper thin seats are uncomfortable, and they don't recline at all. busses are more comfortable. You already know you are going to have to pay for a soda, but they cut every other cost in setting up the interior of the plane."
Pros: "Price of the ticket"
Cons: "The flight attendants were rude to the passengers around me. The announcements made came off rude And sarcastic. They were not very professional. This was my first time flying Frontier."
Pros: "I liked the one crew member who greeted me as I steeped on the plane. She was very warm. She was African American and blond hair. Very sweet."
Cons: "The rest of the crew seemed bitter and grumpy. From the person announcing that it was time to board, to the person taking drink orders. Especially the person taking drink orders. She was pissy when I asked for gin, because she had to go look for it. She was agrivated when I asked if I had to buy the mixer separate, as it was my very first time on frontier. They didn't have gin though it was on the menu, as expensive as the alcohol was that I did buy, the mixer should have come with it. The fact that one has to pay for a carry on is ridiculous! On to of it all the flour was late boarding. I was not impressed with frontier. I'm not sure I would ever be confident recommending it to people because of poor customer service, price, and tardiness. My name is jorge Sisson feel free to call me 5044289402"
Pros: "Plane was new."
Cons: "The plane was brand new but very tight. Flight was scheduled to be 39min late and was over an hour late with no updates. 45.00 carry on charge or 40.00 to check baggage! Drinks and snacks were for purchase ONLY! Landed and sat on the runway for over 40min and the pilots have one update saying it was supposed to be a 5min wait and never updated after that. No wifi no entertainment!!!!"
Pros: "Being On Time and the Crew was efficient and nice."
Cons: "Very Loud Flight."
Pros: "There's was nothing positive to say other than the we didn't crash"
Cons: "Coming and going my flight was delayed 3 hours ..the front desk crew was absolutely the rudest I've ever seen then throw in the bitchy flight attendants and I'm really not sure how this company stays in business ..the three hour time delay was not a big deal ..the lack of customer service was MAJOR"
"Flight was cancelled hours before departure. They did find us another flight in which we almost missed because our tickets weren’t confirmed until an hour before our new flight."
Pros: "Everything pretty much matches expectations for a low cost airline"
Cons: "Water and - ideally - coffee included with ticket, not "for purchase" onboard. A few navigation screens in the cabin, having none for a 5+ hour flight leaves you in the dark about where the plane is"
Pros: "Seats were close the front"
Cons: "Due to that fact that Covid-19 is present and we have to wear masks and stay six feet apart... I feel that he flights should not have been full... how can u stay six feet from someone who u don’t know is covid free when u are sitting on top of each other... Orlando airport is the worst airport I’ve ever been to.. they only had a limited amount of restaurants to feed a overcrowded airport... spirit airlines is the worst airline of all and I will never fly with them again... they changed my direct flight from Baltimore to new Orleans to Baltimore to Orlando then to New Orleans with no warning.. that was was very unprofessional... I definitely do not recommend to fly spirit ever again... I will still use kayak in the future for travel"
Pros: "The seats are ok, the crew was good, pleasant flight"
Cons: "The seats"
Cons: "Nothing the flight was the most uncomfortable thing I have ever been in"
Pros: "Crews was courteous , boarding process was easy , pilot kept us informed along the journey"
Pros: "Everything was great. The crew was amazing & I felt very comfortable"
Cons: "But a five hour delay on top of an already 5 hour layover was extremely exhausting. I know it is out of everyone’s control so I do not blame spirit"
Pros: "The amazing and nice flights attendants. By that I mean, they were very clear in instruction and greeted passengers with smiling faces."
Cons: "Reclining seats lol"
Pros: "Onboard crew was very helpful and friendly."
Cons: "Everything else “Spirit” related was a debacle. We lost our baby’s stroller attachment for the car seat. Very helpful as without it we are unable to use our stroller. Attempted to have several Spirit employees help however all everyone did was send us to another person and ultimately the last person just ignored us. We went down to baggage claim to see if by chance anyone turned in the attachment but we’re only told to file a report and if they so happen to find it they will contact us. This is no help whatsoever. Will never fly spirit again!"
Pros: "Flight took off and arrived on time."
Cons: "Navigating the Spirit Airlines web site is like dealing with a used car salesman; you have to watch every single step of the way, because they will add unnecessary, unwanted charges if you are not careful. After this trip, I will never fly Spirit Airlines again. I wish I had booked a 1-way flight, rather than round trip, so that I could return on a decent airline. There is a reason that Spirit gets a 1-star rating on www.consumeraffairs.com/ If I have to fly to Atlanta to Philadelphia again, I will take either United or Delta."
Pros: "I will never fly spirit again. I thought that I would be saving money, and yet I spent more on this budget flight, than I would with delta or American airlines. I was charged twice for carry on and check in, because I had to stop over in florida to transfer. So, on top of the flight costs, I paid an extra $110 for my luggage. I think being charged for carry on is ridiculous. The seats were super uncomfortable, there was no entertainment offered, and not even a soft drink was complimentary. Needless to say, I am not a fan!"
Cons: "There was nothing to like about this trip because the website would not send me a boarding pass although I checked in online twice the day before, so I never had the opportunity to even get in the gate. I asked for a boarding pass through an email and it didn't come through, twice. I did not think much of it because I have had problems receiving emails from Spirit in the past and I have always been able to log into my account and access the boarding pass on the website. The morning of the flight, the website locked me out and wouldn't allow me to log in. I actually had to leave the security line to try to sort the issue out. The kiosk at the airport told me I was at the wrong airport (I was not). I went to the front desk and the agent was SUPREMELY unhelpful and unconcerned, and marked me as a no show at 7:05 for a flight leaving at 7:25. Even though I was standing right in front of her. Even though I had left the security line to deal with the issue. I had to get to my destination that day, which happens to be the reason I bought a ticket in the first place, so I had to spend an additional $500 on a Southwest ticket because the agent at the front desk of Spirit said I had no other options with Spirit that day. I called customer service and despite escalating the issue to a manager, I was essentially told "sorry for your luck" and sent on my way. The manager even asked, at the end of the call after telling me a refund would not be possible, if I wanted to purchase an airline ticket while I was on the phone. I have bought a fair number of Spirit tickets in the past. I unfortunately already have a ticket lined up with Spirit Airlines in November but I will never be purchasing another ticket from this airline again. It was an absurd scenario - I paid for a ticket and was not able to redeem the ticket I paid for - and I should not be have to pay the price for Spirit Airlines having poor IT."
Pros: "I liked how easy it was to board the plane, but that’s because I paid an extra $7 to be in zone one. That was the only thing I liked other than the flight landed safely."
Cons: "I don’t like that I had to pay $55 to have a carry-on. I travel light for those reasons, and if I’m going to pay extra for a bag I might as well check it and get to take my toothpaste with me. I don’t like that I paid $27 to be in the exit row. There was no tray table on the seat in front of me, or anywhere for my usage. There is no headphone jack. You shouldn’t even ask if I enjoy the entertainment because they don’t offer anything, not even for the people that pay extra money. Also don’t like my seat didn’t recline or have an armrest and overly obese couple that they squeezed in next to me took up all the space of the row. What’s the point of paying extra for comfort, when you get less than the guy who paid nothing and is in a middle seat, who I’m sure he was uncomfortable and miserable as well. I also don’t like that you have to pay for water!! Who makes you pay for water!? Not even the peanuts or the pretzels were complimentary… Absolutely never ever flying with this airline ever again! The cheap airfare was definitely not worth the lack of professionalism and being taken advantage of to have to pay for every extra thing that should be expected in regular travel."
Pros: "The website and App crashed on multiple instances. When I first created an account my flights were not coming up for my name. I had to call on both of my flights to get this issue fixed. How hard would it have been to fix for both flights on the 1st call? I didn’t get a seat assigned for both of my flights and had to call customer service. All on my friends got seats assigned and based on past experiences, this led me to believe the flight was overbooked. Therefore, on the one flight I had to pay 18 dollars just to ensure I had a seat. I had my boarding pass on my app when I through security at BWI. Then mysteriously the boarding pass didn’t show up when I got to my gate. There were no employees at the counter to print my boarding pass. Horrible experience overall"
Cons: "Customer service, the app"
Pros: "I like the extra roomy seats"
Cons: "I didn't like the flight attendants attitudes. On all of my flights they shared a common theme , rudeness. They weren't as nice and sweet like other flight attendants I have encountered. On my first flight one flight attendant was eating while we were taking off , omg !! When I ask for assistance because The kiosk instructed me to contact an agent , the employee at the desk told me with an attitude to go back to the kiosk and try again instead of just helping me . I'm not sure I will book with spirit again ."
Pros: "ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!!!!!!!"
Cons: "The flight was drastically delayed, without appropriate notification. They offered no remedy without any option to arrive at my until 3 days later and this with me staying overnight at the Fort Lauderdale airport, to be on stand by for the flights on said third day. Their only other offer was to refund me the value of that 'first flight". It took two hours and 15 minutes of declining those offers and being very disrespectfully for them to offer a full refund (5 to 7 business days later). They offer no help with rebooking, so I had to purchase with another airline at full last minute price."
Cons: "The flight from LAX was delayed twice and took off more than three hours later. The flight back from Philadelphia to LAX was canceled about two hours before the flight was to take off. Arranging a substitute new ticket on American cost me more than $680 - Spirit was offering an unacceptable replacement flight which would have been 2 days after the cancellation. Then, Spirit offered ONLY $50 as a coupon - instead of refunding the nearly $200 paid for the cancelled flight (or the actual damage of +$680). After I argued with Spirit they agreed to refund the cost of their ticket to LAX. END RESULT - Hours were lost due to Spirit delays and the flight cancellation, inconvenience was endured and more than $500 was lost. Very bad life flight experience."
Cons: "Flight was cancelled TWICE in one day. I ended up having to book on another airlines and paid quadruple the original price out of my own pocket. Spirit told me I should go to the airport (an hour away), and they would "try" to make put me on a flight with another carrier. This was a business trip and I absolutely had to be there for a certain time, so I couldn't risk waiting on Spirit to "try" and place me with no guarantees. They gave me two $50 flight vouchers, as if I'll ever fly with them again! Awful, stressful experience."
Pros: "The crew was nice and I didn't get "taken out". They were good."
Cons: "The seats were uncomfortable. Most uncomfortable flight I've ever been on (first time with spirit, coincidence?) and the jerk couple in the first class seats in front of me, cause me at 6 foot got put behind first class, kept their seats reclined the whole way back the whole time. It was awful. I had zero leg room. Cramped legs the whole time. Couldn't sleep on the red eye flight because of it. I hate you spirit. Never seen a flight have seats right behind the only damn reclining seats in the whole plane."
Cons: "Will never fly Spirit airlines again. First flight was cancelled, return flight was delayed by almost 2 hours. I waited at the ticketing desk for 3+ hours (while on hold with customer service on my cell phone). Never had my call answered and also did not ever get to the counter for my refund. HORRIBLE experience, worst customer service ever. A total inconvenience, I had to rearrange all my travel plans, incurring many additional expenses and also book a different outgoing flight at a higher cost in order to get to my destination. Also, the flight seems cheaper but then they gouge you by charging for your seat and also for your carry on. Not any cheaper in the end. NEVER AGAIN."
Cons: "Three of the four flights on our recent trip from Seattle to New Orleans were Canceled. Stop over in Las Vegas on the way there flight cancelled to New Orleans---3 hours in line at airport only to find next flight out 24hours later. Told due to weather. Next day we returned to airport to be told our flight again cancelled --this time pilots did not show for flights--placed on another airline and got to New Orleans 36 hours later then Planned. Four days later flights home from New Orleans to Seattle also cancelled. Long wait on hold with Spirit costumer service and no reason given for cancelled flight again. Asked and received refund form Spirt for those legs of flight then booked a flight home on different airline. We will never fly Spirit again. We feel sorry for their employees having to work for such an inept company. We lost a day and half of New Orleans time and two nonrefundable nights at our hotel in NO. Including cabs, and hotels over $700.00 lost plus the stress."
Pros: "The fact that I was flying to Detroit. The flight itself was smooth and passengers were nice and quiet. Very funny flight attendant was making all the passengers laugh when she was speaking to the phone, while we were leaving the airplane."
Cons: "I was not aware of the fee for carry on bags. When I ordered the tickets online, it clearly said that they are free. When I arrived the the airport, I was told I have to pay for them. I was traveling with my kids, so I had to pay for all of them. I booked my flights with Spirit before and never had that issue, yet this time I was not happy about how things went. I told the staff by the bagging area, that online it says something different and she told me sorry I cant do anything about it. I told her I didn't bring that much money with me, but that didn't matter. I had to call my friend to pay with credit card for my bags."
Pros: "not much...will not travel again on Spiritl"
Cons: "1) Seats not comfortable to sleep, no push back (was on red eye flight) 2) Delayed coming back from Vegas 3) I was trying to select a seat next to my friend and had to pay for getting seats together 4) Pay for every possible service (glad i don't have to pay for bathroom as of now) and not as cheap ticket to Vegas. 5) Felt like being treated like school kid (disciplined) when read about how baggage fares change with time to $100 @ gate. (too much). Too much to worry when I want a pleasure travel... 6) I will never travel on spirit for more than 2 hr flight time and that too when i have a great deal (that compensates for seats, luggage etc.,)"
Pros: "Not much."
Cons: "Fares may be cheap, but they gouge you on everything else. A carry on bag $57 is daylight robbery. Also overbooked my friends flight and bumped him so the whole trip was ruined because we didn't have much time. The seats are super uncomfortable as well. I guess you have to pay a lot more for a seat that doesn't send you to the chiropractor. Spirit should be ashamed of it's business model. It should be called set the hook with a low initial price then gouge all you can. I even took money to the bathroom because I thought they would charge. That is next by the way. I would have to say my Spirit experience at least matched my many prior experiences with United, which is the worst airline on the planet. Spirit maybe second by a slim margin. I will never fly Spirit again. They stink."
Pros: "The staff was very polite knowledgeable and always smiled and some joked with made the flight a pleasure."
Cons: "I didn't know that the bag check was 40 pounds most are 50. I booked though a 2nd party and was not informed about having to pick a seat and the you had to pay for a carry on. They do not tell you about this be for you check out and also if you booking for 2 you may not be together on the flight unless you. pay before hand and then pick your seat. Also when looking for a phone umber on the web site and you hit contact us it sends you to the help and doesn't not show a phone number to talk to a person. The flight was good. I don't think that you should have to pay extra to make sure you are next to your family when traveling"
Pros: "I recently traveled with my wife and 3 year old for the first time on Spirit Airlines. I have never flown with them before. We travel a fair amount and have always flown with other airlines but I saw a good deal they offered and I jumped on it. After the check in process was completed online, I headed to the airport. The service I received in the terminal with staff standing at the entrance was unexpectedly pleasant. Without asking, the staff had already guided me in the direction and next step I should take for checking luggage. It was awesome! Once we went through the boarding process and boarded the plane, I was totally shocked! The flight attendants were completely kind and over the top hilarious. They were making funny/silly comments about the flight and flying in general. Although there was no electronic entertainment offered on this flight, they made up for it in their fun personalities. It was the best atmosphere between all of the passengers around me who were all enjoying the outgoing spirit with the crew. It was a flight to remember!"
Pros: "Comfort, clean seats"
Cons: "Fare cheap but all the 'musts'made it more than any other airline: $9 Online fee; $25 kiosk fee (which didn't work and had to pay $50 fee to check in with clerk; had to check bag approved for under seat/carry on (12"c12") and since kiosk didn't work, charged $60 for 1st bag, even though I paid $60 for a 'first checked bag' and 2nd bag should hAve been cheaper. It was TSA agent who told me I would be required to check the bag by Spirit as it didn't meet carry on criteria and if I didn't check now, would be $100 at gate. I told her that I was traveling back with same TSA approved (and Spirit online rules) and she became rude and rejected my bag (and did a complete body search) so, I was forced to check the bag or miss my flight. I asked her and the Spirit clerk (3) if this was a TSA/ Spirit racket with kickbacks for TSA and/or Spirit and NOT on of them laughed, smiled, or denied this question. Mever again will I fly Spirit airlines or recommend to anyone!"
Pros: "Crew was friendly and professional. Seats were comfortable. No issues with flight itself."
Cons: "We paid for the TSA check boarding and were rejected from this line on the way back to Chicago. Had to go back and wait 1 1/2 hours to go through TSA because: Spirit offered TSA check for and additional fee, but didn't print it out on our return boarding passes. Web site is so much like a comic book, its very difficult to find what you need. I couldn't print out return boarding pass move than 24 hours in advance and didn't have time to look it over before finding out we were taken for 66.00 for the TSA check pass. Very disappointed with this airline organization."
Pros: "The departure and arrival times were the only reason I chose this airline."
Cons: "I don't care for all of the additional fees such as seating and baggage, and then trying to charge me more because the website didn't work and I had to call their help line. Upon arrival only one of 4 kiosks worked and the staff told us it would cost extra to check in at the counter, so we waited in an unnecessary line with everyone else. When we boarded there was trouble with someone's ticket so they pulled the last 6 of us off to scan our tickets again. The seats and tray tables were in poor condition with noticeable wear and coming apart in multiple places."
Pros: "I paid twice as much to check bags as I do on other airlines. It costed me a total of $94 to check one bag to and from. Also the customer service was poor. It took forever to claim my luggage because the flight attendants told me an incorrect carousel number. I was on a wild goose in the airport and because of this I obviously don't feel it was worth the extra money checking bags. Also I didn't like that I had to become an online member only to save ten bucks on my returning checked luggage. Don't waste your money!"
Pros: "This flight was canceled because the AC didn't work. I rescheduled for the next day (after being on hold for at least 20 min), but was almost charged a rescheduling fee of more than $100. I am disappointed to be away from home still, but am more concerned with how disorganized they were during this process. It took them hours to decide to cancel the flight, and once they did still more time to clarify where people should go and what the next steps should be. People were left in a line of at least 100 people, but only attended to 2 at a time. No one was directed to call Spirit, even though it would obviously be the most efficient way to get the line moving. Yes, machinery goes wrong, but this should not get in the way of customer service."
Pros: "Our flight was delayed and then cancelled. There was one woman who was helpful in customer service when I arrived at the airport. I explained that I had to change my flight recently and am 6.5 months pregnant. Because my travel was booked within 7 days of the original flight, I was charged a $90 fee to make the change even though I made the change within 2 hours of booking. I was not reimbursed the difference of the flights. I was instead given a voucher to use within 60 days for the difference minus the $90 fee. I sent to online requests to customer service requesting contact because I am pregnant and will likely not be up for travel for several months. I got no response. The customer service rep who helped my friend and I book a replacement flight when our flight was cancelled was great and did his best with a sense of humor. It was obvious all of the staff did their best but were honest about the limits they had in being helpful: we waited in flux for an hour to find out if the cancellation was confirmed after being delayed for several hours. It was made clear that the replacement flight had to be within the range of the cost of the original ticket. Spirit ticket costs are completely misleading because of fees added for carry on bags, printing a ticket, water on the plane, etc. People tried their best but the set up including the website feel like an intentional scam."
Cons: "On the day we were supposed to leave Spirit needed to cancel our flight due to weather conditions. We checked online an there weren't any warning about the weather. They were very unhelpful about placing us on another flight. After 40 minutes, they placed us on a flight the next day but also gave us the option of a full refund in case we found another flight. Luckily United Airlines had flight out (2 hours after the Spirit flight) to New Orleans. We booked the new tickets and got our full refund from Spirit."
Pros: "I liked the price of the ticket. It was a great deal for a relatively short flight from New Orleans to Atlanta. I liked that you knew up front what was and was not covered by the ticket price. There was actually better leg room than I thought there would be."
Cons: "The seats seemed smaller than most airlines' coach seats. The seats were also a little harder with what seemed like a thin cushion. It was not possible to put a magazine or bottle of water in any kind of holder on the back of the seat immediately in front of me b/c there were only elastic cords holding the safety cards and other airline items in the cords (and no bottle or water or magazine could be put in that). I wanted to go back in after I printed my boarding pass so that I could add a bag, but was not able to do that; I understand why that was the case. I only wish I had realized before the last minute to leave for the airport that I was going to need to pay for a bag if I wanted to bring more items with me. The flight was delayed at least 30 minutes so that a light bulb could be changed on a piece of equipment in the cockpit."
Pros: "I LOVE the smooth ride of the flight. No turbulence"
Cons: "I was not informed by text the flight was delayed. 3 hours. ILearn Once I arrived before 5:30 p.m. . The flight is delayed until 9:03 p.m. . They kept telling the passengers. It was a severe storm in Philadelphia... I have several other workers stated we were bumped. Because of a mechanical problem with another plane. I check back with family in the Philadelphia area. It did not storm nor rain. So spirit customer service told untruths. As per company overhead. The aircraft was extremely crowded. Crying babies. Adults who did not take a bath. Overall disgusting for my first time ever flying with Sprint. What a lasting impression"
Cons: "having to pay $55 for my CARRY on. they canceled the flight and never told me. they put me on another flight without confirming it worked with my schedule. They had 2 people at the airport dealing with customers after canceling all flights out of Philadelphia. They should have had A LOT more! Everyone was rude. the air plane was extremely uncomfortable. no food, no water. you have to pay for EVERTHNING! i'll never be flying Spirit again. I should have listened to everyone when they told me not to."
Cons: "My flight kept getting delayed, and ultimately cancelled. For some reason Spirit did not feel the need to just let passengers know the status of the aircraft so that they could make other arrangements. I had to fly into a different city, rent a car, and drive home 2 hours (after sitting in an airport with no idea what was going on with my flight for approximately 6 hours). For my troubles? A $50 voucher for an airline I will NEVER fly again. No reimbursement. No nothing. And the kicker? It was entirely on Spirit. It was a maintenance issue. Absolutely horrible."
Cons: "Crew didn't inspire confidence. Sign on outside of plane visible when boarding about having the youngest crew in the industry--I'd prefer an experienced crew, not a young one. Dog on the flight, won't frequent airlines that allow this. Flight attendants didn't check seatbelts or luggage compartments. Flight attendants chatting to each other rather than greeting customers like it was a job at the mall. NO BAG DROP OFF LINE. Although I paid SO MUCH for baggage and opted to get a mobile boarding pass (which they wouldn't have accepted... in 2016), I had to wait on line with people who hadn't yet printed their boarding passes (and COULDN"T because the machines were down). If I hadn't gotten to the airport earlier than I needed to, I might've missed my flight on a day when air traffic was already backed up."
Cons: "Just about everything! Pilot was 2 hours late, which was known, but we boarded on time.Air conditioning broken, again known, but repairs delayed for unknown reasons. Spirit's response to passenger discomfort,we all got a sip,not a glass,a sip of water! Once we got going we discovered that the rear of the plane had its own unusual design feature - - - an aisle facing toilet. I will not delve into the problem but try to imagine what 6 hours of togetherness includes. Still the same rigid seats, silly dropdown tables and outrageous baggage charges. We will not fly this airline again."
Cons: "Since I ordered through kayak I wasn't allowed to add additional bags. This cost me quite a bit more money. Then I called prior to online booking and the customer service agent was horrible. Deceived me into to pay more money for bags. She was also very rude and not helpful at all. This was a horrible experience. I am not even going into the flight. I was seated next to someone that was probably close to 400 pounds. He spent most of the time in my seat. Now I am sympathetic to obese people but Spirit should have placed him in one of the two seater rows or something like that. It was an absolute miserable experience."
Pros: "Overall it was a mediocre experience, but none of the airlines make flying an enjoyable experience anymore... Service on Spirit was below some airlines, but overall it was OK."
Cons: "SPirit's lack of honesty and disclosure about their fees and policies. The tag line of "Less Money, More Go" is totally false advertising. By the time I completed my return flight, this trip cost me about $100 more than other airlines because of their seat fees, bag fees, up-charges... they even charge for you taking your own carry on onto the plane! What's next? Charging for breathing while in-flight?? Overall I will not be using Spirit again, and I will not recommend Spirit to my friends or my company.\ Mike Gibbore"
Cons: "Both times cancelled"
Cons: "Here's the feedback that I left on the Spirit satisfaction survey when they asked me why I will not recommend their airline to even my worst enemy: After my cancelled flight experience yesterday, I can say with complete confidence that I will NEVER EVER fly or recommend that anyone fly spirit airlines again. The primary reason is a complete lack of concern for my situation as demonstrated by 1) inadequate and incorrect communication of flight status. The departure status boards at the airport all showed my flight as "ONTIME" up until 20 minutes prior to scheduled boarding. It was simply by chance that I was reviewing my email while waiting for dinner before the flight that I discovered that my flight was either "delayed or cancelled", with no further information available. There was no one at the spirit gate to answer this question either. A phone call to spirit airlines led me to someone in India who did not speak very good English and was very difficult to understand, who finally informed me that the flight was cancelled, but the good news was that there is another scheduled in TWO DAYS. After making my way to the ticketing desk, I find an angry mob of former passengers who were not getting any assistance from the spirit staff. 2) No assistance provided following the cancellation. The obviously untrained simply yelled at the mob that there is nothing they could do. We were told that there is another flight tomorrow morning from NYC, but we would have to find our own transportation and lodging for the night. No assistance with finding a flight on another airline, no assistance with finding a hotel, no assistance with anything. Period. We were on our own. End of story. 3) Inadequate compensation. It cost me $600 for a flight back to WPB, which is as close as I could get to FLL. Then another $50 for transportation from PBI to FLL to retrieve my vehicle. What compensation was offered by spirit? A free flight to replace the cancelled one? Nope. 50 bucks is all that is offered, along with an email that says "sorry". I'm surprised it didn't say "sorry 'bout your luck, SUCKER!" Well you can take your 50 bucks and shove it. Did I answer your question adequately???"
Cons: "Flight to Philadelphia was actually very good but our flight back to Fort Lauderdale was cancelled during the airport check-in process!!!!!! This is the second time that this has happened to us. Previous time was about 6 years ago when Spirit decided to give our entire flight to the flight that was scheduled just prior to ours which was cancelled!!!!! They just left us high and dry for no other reason than they were accommodating the prior flight!!!! We decided then to NEVER use Spirit again But, we were hearing good things about Spirit and connections were good. Got home but cost $600.00 vx $150 credit from Spirit - NEVER NEVER NEVER WILL FLY SPIRIT AGAIN!!!!"
Cons: "My flight was cancelled while I was on the shuttle on the way to the airport so that was not very convenient for me."
Pros: "The one flight attendant who really should be working for a better airline...the others totally clueless"
Cons: "Cramped seats, no legroom even for a short person...and I'm 6'4" I've tried the big front seat....super uncomfortable.. also the exit row...a joke. On one of the newer aircraft there was legroom but the seats are as hard as rocks. Spent most of the flight on my feet... customer service from ground and flight crew sucks...I guess u get what u pay for...I suppose travelers are going to have to equate cheap fares with less than optimal service. since that's the case with spirit I'd rather pay more elsewhere for comfort, peace of mind and great service. I had said before that I would never fly spirit ever, and gone back on my word for this last flight....and here we are again. Will never put myself or my spouse through this agony ever again. Whether it's $80 or $500, it's my hard earned money and you do not deserve any of it!!"
Cons: "My flight to LA was delayed by a systems crash, we spent 2-1/2 hours at the gate before departing. My return flight wagon time and I was looking forward to a relatively comfortable flight home, as i'd paid extra for an exit row seat on the aisle. instead, the person who sat next to me man-spreaded into my personal/seat space, shoving his shoulders into my ribs and making the 7 hour cross-country flight, exceedingly uncomfortable. When i voiced my complaints to him, he replied in an entitled and indignant fashion and redoubled his effort to invade my personal space. What's worse, is that this man was wearing a Spirit Airlines uniform and presumably, did not pay for his seat. I will never fly Spirit again."
Cons: "Do not understand their business model. Spoke to numerous people coming and going and everyone was upset about something. All of the hidden costs were the most mentioned along with frequent flight delays. Never fly Spirit with a connection! But it all trickles down. Because their luggage size and weight standards are less than the industry standards [Scam] and the attending charges check in is at a snails pace. Took us 30 minutes to check in with no line because one person was unpacking their bag to get under weight charge. Also since they are dealing with irritable and angry customers all day long the employees attitudes are terrible. The most common remark I heard, and I concur, was I will never fly this airline again. This is the part that leads to my confusion of the overall business model. At some point you run out of first time customers."
Pros: "I liked that the price of the flight was inexpensive."
Cons: "The crew on the flight was extremely unprofessional, suggesting that we don't "hurt one another" when we are free to take other open seats. Also, the seriousness of the crew and the responsible feeling that I normally get from a flight crew was not there. The pilot was good. But the attendants were telling " jokes". An airplane is not a comedy club. I like to feel safe, and that the staff is capable in the event of an emergency. Also, the plane seemed dirty with advertisements inside the cabin for a specific hotel in Vegas. This gave the plane a very ghetto feeling."
