We finally got to the baggage counter 4 minutes after the 45 min cutoff and were told that they could not put us on the plane. The cause? SIX check in attendances failed to show up to work in retaliation for Frontier's recent outsourcing of jobs and the fact that their "Discount Den" specials, which have flights out of Denver on Sundays as low as $3.50 were taxing the staff, so they essentially boycotted. All flights back to MCI out of ALL airlines were full so we and our small children had to rent an expensive suburban and drive all night to get to work on Monday after a 12 day vacation. Absolutely the WORST travel experience we have ever had."

We sat on the plane 35 minutes while he waited for an out of order decal for the lavatory door. Dumbest flight crew I ever encountered. I'm going back to United."

Cons: "they claim to have good air fares just to get you in. once you purchase a ticket they milk you for every possible reason to get as much money as they possibly can. for example if you dont pay for carryon (yes you hear me they charge for carryon) at the time you check in. they will charge you twice as much at the gate ($60 dollars!!!!). their seats are incredibly uncomfortable and do not recline. the guy at the counter wanted to charge me $40 because my bag was one pound overweight. thats enough for me. I am not using frontier ever again."

Cons: "The flight was delayed into LAX due to weather and I missed my connecting flight to MCI. The associates at the gate in LAX said there was nothing they could do and directed me to exit the airport and go to the front ticketing counter. When I approached the counter I was greeted with lackluster focus and no sense of urgency. The ticket agent told me to go wait 'outside' for 45-60 miniutes until a supervisor would return. I let them know this was not acceptable. One agent ignored my situation completely while the Jr agent attempted to assist me by making calls on her personal cell phone. They let me know they could get me home within 24-48 hours, but I would still need to talk to a supervisor. I informed them there were flights on other airlines that day, to which they said they could not help me and to book it myself if I wanted to fly home that day. On multiple occasions during our conversation the agents said 'they should have helped you in Seattle before your flight left.' At one point walking away from me. I stated 'well, that did not happen. I inquired in Seattle regarding the connection and the agents at the gate stated that 'every flight is delayed' from LAX and it won't be an issue'. I booked a flight with American and flew out that evening. I will never book with Spirit Airlines again. I will always use the airline sight first before booking through sites such as Kayak as well."

Then, when rescheduling our flights, they wanted to put my husband and I on different flights that would get back 6 hours apart from each other. You get what you pay for with Spirit Airlines, that's for sure."

Cons: "I did not even get a chance to GET ON THE PLANE because I was 2 minutes too late to the kiosk and it would not let me print my ticket. I was notified that I would have to be there NO later than 45 min to get my boarding pass, but I had no previous knowledge of this spirit rule. I did NOT receive an email telling me to check in within 24 hours to 1 hour before my flight. I did attempt to check-in prior to getting to the airport and could not because the website is so poorly designed. If you try and look online for this information it is nowhere to be found. I only had a backpack therefore knew that in a smaller airport I would very easily get through security and allocated that time to get to my plane. Although I was not even allowed to print my ticket. I will NEVER fly spirit airlines because their customer service is awful and they are liars to all flyers."

Worst flying experience ever; it was one of the scariest moments of my life. There is definitely a reason why the flights are cheap, Spirit toes the line between cheap flights and passenger safety."

Pros: "Nonstop flights from LAX to KC leaving and returning at reasonable times. I went to Ross and bought the largest bag I could find that met the personal item size restriction. Otherwise, all my ticket savings would have been used up by the small amount of luggage permitted. Feels like nickle and diming. I don't think this M.O. can last because people won't come back if they feel ripped off."
Cons: "The Spirit flight was delayed. No text or email from the airline though they had my info supposedly for that purpose. I found out by looking online right before we would have left to go to the airport. 1 1/2 hour delay. When I arrived at the airport, the monitors said the plane was now delayed 2 1/2 hours beyond initial departure time. Still no text or email. When I checked online, there was no update indicating the later departure time. Obviously, my time spent cooling my heels around the airport was of no concern to the airline. Also, led to me eating overpriced airport food rather than food at home when the delay pushed the flight into the dinner hour."
Pros: "Both flights were on time. First flight was exactly on time, second flight was 8 minutes delayed. Online check-in was seamless even though the system was down for the return flight. I just printed the page saying that the system was down and the ticketing clerk at the airport processed the check-in immediately."

On line check in was confusing, and I had to print my boarding pass, could not figure out how to have it texted to me so I could simply use my phone to show my boarding pass. Also you need to have a NA category above, I didn't have any food, and I didn't have any entertainment, so I rated you poor. Those two areas were not applicable to me."

Airline did offer refund however to attempt to book a new airline was more than double the price for a last minute ticket. I would never use Spirit airline again"
