Cons: Not charging so much for water. I understand the financial impact of COVID on the airlines, but water is essential.
Pros: Good flight attendants and pilot. Ground crew was not good. Flight took almost as long as driving my car.
Cons: Avoiding stupid delays like the wrong plane at the gate.
Pros: The crew was great but the seats were not comfortable.
Cons: Free water
Pros: Super friendly crew
Pros: Not a thing.
Cons: Customer service. Organization. Staff being knowledgeable.
Pros: Crew members were friendly and attentive.
Pros: Check in was
Pros: Very comfy. Got in early.
Cons: Need The Rona to be done already! No in-flight service
Pros: Nice. Clean.
Cons: Small seats.
Pros: Better to board back to front!
Cons: At least offer water!!
Cons: I took my 11 year old daughter for her first unaccompanied airplane trip to Florida today on Frontier Airlines. I paid for a window seat in the back row, which is where she wanted to sit and is also required to sit being unaccompanied. A few minutes after she boarded she texted me that a mom told her to move over so her kids could sit at the window seats (my daughters seat). My daughter of course just listened and moved over. I was livid. I told her to tell the flight attendant but she didn’t want to make a fuss over it. What was this flight attendant doing? She had to notice the seat assignment switch at some point. I do understand that she also has other responsibilities and can’t be a hawk over my daughter. Why wouldn’t she make them move to their own assigned seats when she did notice a seat change? I understand that another adult passengers can make a seat assignment switch but NOT a child. I am also fine with a flight attendant asking my daughter to move but not another passenger. It sounds like a bully just wanting the best for her kids at the expense of my daughter. I was a fury of no sleep (I work night shift)and pregnant (emotional) looking for help at the airport and there was no one to help me! I wasn’t allowed to leave the gate until the plane pushed back but the gate attendant had left before the airplane pushed back. I should have called my daughter and had her put the flight attendant on the phone but at the time the thought never crossed my mind. After the plane left I complained to the ticketing counter who told me they couldn’t do anything to help me and gave me a number for customer service. I was then on with customer service for at least 45 minutes. They weren’t rude but definitely didn’t have a response that was very caring. They asked me why my daughter didn’t speak up on the airplane. I said, “because she is 11 and listens to adults when they tell her to do something.” They said they would report my case/ complaint to the “back office” so this would “never” happen again and gave me back my money for my daughters checked bag of $45. I had to push them to give me back any sort compensation. At this point I didn’t want to make it about money... it didn’t seem right. This is about my daughter and her safety and the service I paid for her to have in my absence. So I took the $45 deal and got off the phone. I am still so angry. This was her first flight alone and she’s a little scared, a little sad, and then she has to give up the one thing that she was looking forward to on the flight. If something would have happened on the flight they wouldn’t even know what seat she was in! I don’t know if I will ever book flights with frontier again. The flight also left 40 minutes late without any given reason.
Cons: Its a scam! They act like they are giving you a break by having you buy cheap flights but in reality it costs more than a bit more expensive flight. I had to pay $45.00 each bag no matter if it was checked or carry-on. In total round trip I paid $180.00 extra just for my husbands carry-on as well as mine. Must add that our flights together cost 286.00. We should of went with American Airlines. On top of that we couldn't select our own seat if so, we had to pay extra, so we had to sit separated from each other. It was ridiculous! Never Again with this company!!!!!
Pros: Nothing. Every single person I spoke with was insulting to me, repeated information they already gave me and showed no sympathy whatsoever. They cost me money, they cost me a day of work and no one even seemed to care but every single agent did find something different about me to blame. What an embarrassment.
Cons: I couldn't check in online because of a website error. I couldn’t get ahold of anyone on the phone to check in. When I did they said I had to use the website. I arrived in plenty of time to board (there was a 4 minute security line) but they would not check me in and told me to call a number and they made no offer to help me and told me I should have chexked in online. I called the number and they gave me. I was on hold till I missed the flight. The agent told me the people at the counter could help me. I aksed for a supervisor. He offered to reschedule me for Sunday, (today is Thursday) for a $99 fee (the ticket was $63). After arguing for an hour i finally got the supervisor to refund my money but I still had to buy another ticket on another airline to get there. I will never fly frontier again ever.
Cons: The only thing I didn't care for was that when my flight was delayed by three hours; when I landed the crew in the airport because an attendant refused to take minute to look at my ticket. If she had looked at my ticket she would have seen that I didn't miss my connecting flight because it was also delayed by three hours. I almost missed my connecting flight because this artentand kept refusing to help me and kept sending me to customer service who would have told me to get on my same connecting flight. The attendant was working at the desk near my connecting flight but refused to take a minute to try to help me even though she wasn't busy nor was she helping someone. I had to figure this out on my own while standing in line at customer service, which had about 100 people waiting who also missed their flight so I would have missed my flight if I had done what the frontier attendant from my connecting flight desk had instructed me to do. I had to run back to the gate minutes before boarding ended almost missing my connecting flight because of the attendant. Attendant worked at the denver , co airport. The crew on the plane and everyone else was great. Also didn't care for the charge for a carry on bag.
Pros: Baggage made it with flt. On-line check-in was easy.
Cons: High baggage fees (for both checked and carry-on). Virtual requirement to pay upgrade fee for seating - only a handful of seats in entire plane were available without upgrade fee. Even highest level upgrade seats were cramped - had more leg room on economy seats on Alaska flt on in-bound flt. Plane was 4 hours late in departing. While pilots seemed friendly, of two stewards, one was downright unpleasant and unhelpful, the other seemed pleasant but was more interested in reading his fashion magazine than providing service to passengers. Will not be flying Frontier again.
Pros: Good piloting, nice landings despite turbulence, low clouds and wind.
Cons: I travel a lot and understand that being a flight attendant isn't always a fun job, so I do my best to minimize my burden on them, but their attitudes made me feel like they despise their passengers and think we're all stupid. A couple crew members were nice, but the rude ones I interacted with ruined the experience. Also, not the employees fault, but they pitch you their crappy credit card for 10 mins then stuff brochures for it in your face. I'm already stuck on a plane in a cramped space next to someone who smells bad, I don't need advertisements that I literally cannot escape added on top of that. Their app is okay, but their website is awful. They nickel and dime left and right. Finally their seats are too short! I'm 6'2" and if I sit up straight and lean back, my head is over the top of the seat. I got suckered into a cheap fare but wish I would've paid $100 more for a half decent airline instead.
Pros: the direct flight. the only reason i booked with them :/
Cons: paid the extra $74 (discounted - bundle rate) fee to check bag and carry on and select a seat! crazy... i was wondering why a 4 hr fight from cincinatti to san diego direct could POSSIBLY cost just $90... now i know.. it DIDNT... it cost $164 each way... lol. NOT. also - the crew was just lame. they didnt look at you ever and you had to flag the down after they passed you to hand over trash... basically just spent their time socializing and had an overal BITCHY tone... that you didnt matter to them. will avoid this airline from now on.
Pros: The crew had a smile and were friendly.
Cons: Look, it's a budget carrier. I get that. But I add a bag to my flight and my ticket is now what it would have cost to fly Southwest. I'm 6'4", and I *barely* fit into the seats. My knees touched the seat in front of me the whole flight. And the seats don't recline. To make everything just perfect, they lost my luggage on the flight home, and the lady who worked with Frontier who took all 15 (?) of us who had lost luggage over to make a claim said "this is normal for flights coming from Denver - it's a hub for Frontier, so luggage gets misplaced all the time." I'm sorry, that's not acceptable as an answer. I've never had a lost bag while flying with others, so that's what I will do from now on.
Pros: I will only fly Frontier if the cost is way lower than other flights. The seating is so uncomfortable and they charge for literally everything. I'm surprised there is not "breathing air" fee. Although the round-trip nonstop flight to SD from Orlando was only 140 per person. I paid 89 each way for bags and seating. Still at 185 round-trip nonstop, it's a great deal. The flight left on time and we had no issues in the air. I wish I could get more comfort and complimentary drinks and snacks along with TV options during the flight for this price, but you can't have your cake and eat it too. Overall the savings is undeniable. We had some major issues trying to book our summer trips bc they were only showing airfare through 6/6/17 up until last week 2/13/17. Less than four months out before they released and the prices were doubled. Since my entire family lives in Orlando and I travel there 5+ times a year, Frontier has saved us a lot of money! My son travels alone a lot. He is 13. When he flies alone we always use Southwest no matter the cost bc they do not charge extra for any minor over 12 traveling alone and they take great care of the kids in air. No to mention the flights are nonstop, they offer free drinks and snacks, and of course, baggage is free.
Cons: The seats are extremely uncomfortable, I still ache from this flight. I had a 10 month old on my lap for five hours. I was unable to recline. They force you to check in online or they will charge you more money at the gate. They will charge you for everything under the sun. So glad they don't charge for in lap infants (yet) or a personal bag. Maybe it is just a matter of time. One airline I flew.. (Maybe Frontier or Alaska?) offered tablets for rental to. Watch movies or shows during the flight. Frontier could take a hint and start this practice.
Cons: I paid for the upgrades first row seat. There was no padding, I could feel the metal seat on my back and bottom. Very uncomfortable! Seats do not recline. No entertainment. I didn't buy any food, but they do give free water. I used to like Frontier, but would not use them again:( Maybe for a one hour flight, but it's not so cheap and uncomfortable even in the nice seats! I heard horror stories about the regular seats being terrible, but not sure the $$$ ones are better but for more leg room.
Pros: The price of the ticket
Cons: I had 1 carry on luggage. When I left Orlando I was not charged for the carry on...It was a carry on within size standards. When I left Philadelphia back home..that's a different story. When I went to board the plane the guy that scanned my ticket said I needed to step aside as I did not pay for carry on. I explained I did not pay in MCO to Philly and why was I being charged now. Tyra Brunson, said she was the manager at the gate. I explained the situation and she said that she doesn't know how they do it in Orlando but that here I had to pay $60 for the carry on. I aske if it is a different company and if the policies are for all locations and she said yes but in philly they charge $60 at the gate for carry on. She did say if I went on line I could purchase at $35, That was better but still dont agree with haven been charged since it was a legit carry on which I should not have been charged for. Trya saw me try to go online but guess to late to purchase online. That was of no concern to Tyra. She did not do anything to calm the situation and Iat this point I was extremely aggravated as was not ready to spend an additional $60, I did not budget for that. While this is all taking place another 4-5 people were pulled over for the same thing. They were asking as well why on this leg of the trip we now had to pay for carry on luggage. I would like to be reimbursed as I think this Agent took advantage of me, us. Also, I think Trya needs to attend a CSR class as she does not know how to deal with the customers in a way that keeps the tension down. Example. I asked for her name an whee would only give me her first name. I was able to get the name when she accidentally flipped her id around (note, she flipped it around so I could not see name when we discussing the carry on situation). I would not recommmend Frontier Airlnes to anyone. This was my first time flying. With them and more than likely the last.
Cons: Flight was canceled due to "maintenance issues". Agent was not empathetic at all. When asked when or if the flight was going to leave...she said don't know. I said so you're basically saying it could be midnight before you might have an answer...she said basically yes. and to top it off there was no agents behind the ticketing desk to assist with refunds. We were able to get our money back by having to call Frontier directly. Lourde was very helpful, but the Frontier agents at charlotte douglas were no help at all. Will never fly Frontier!
Pros: I loved the price. My parents recently retired to Florida so traveling to see them is important. The plane and flight crew weren't bad.
Cons: When I got to the airport not one Frontier employee was around. The line grew, and grew as the passengers arrived. Many with small children who can't wait that patiently. We were there as predicted and as the sign said "Gate opens two hours before flights". Two hours came and went. Jet blue (nearby) fully staffed laughed and said 'you get what you pay for'! The crew came inside (as if just coming to work) and started to allow bags to be checked. Clearly 25-35 minutes late. Our flight was also delayed a half hour and Frontier said that was why the crew didn't check in sooner. However having someone, anyone from the co represent them to let passengers know would be helpful. I over heard many with small (Crying) children this was their first time flying. If security was busy this would have been frantic.
Pros: Equipment was relatively new so no issues there. Orderly boarding and clean cabin. Flight crew did a superb job! Cabin crew were polite and accommodating enough. Gate agents were efficient and friendly, Can't comment on the quality/quantity of food or beverage as I opted not to give them any more money, Make sure to download the Frontier app on your device BEFORE boarding or you will have NO entertainment available! The entertainment is complimentary but there's a charge for internet.
Cons: I had discovered the carry-on bag charges AFTER purchasing the ticket online which is a bit underhanded. My 'bargain' ticket was now the same price as every other airline plus the 'privilege' of food and beverage purchase whereas all the vanguard carriers still offer free carry-on, snacks and soft drinks. BTW unless you're drunk or completely exhausted, don't plan on getting much sleep: the seats were made with some of the thinnest padding I've experienced and you might get 3-4 inches of recline, IF you can locate the lever! IMPORTANT!! If you don't order THE WORKS pkg ($55) when you INITIALLY pay for your ticket, which includes refund waiver along with check-in, carry-on and seat choice, you're stuck with THE PERKS ($45) which has all the above EXCEPT the refund waiver. The refund fee is $99! You can do everything a la carte, but will cost more beyond 1 bag. BTW, do it all online or you'll pay more at the airport. All in all, absolutely fine for the price if you have a personal sized item (i.e. up to a small backpack) but a standard size carry-on or check-in will definitely put a wrinkle in your flight budget!
Cons: The seats didn't recline, there was no wifi and when I asked for a sip of water, to take a pill, I was informed I would have to buy water if I wanted anymore than a sip. About half way through my trip (9 pm- 3:30 am) a flight attendant snapped on my over head light and accused me of using my ecig and demanded I give it to him. As I handed it to him I explained I was not using it and deployed the button to show him it wasn't even on. He then "confiscated" it. About two minutes later he returned it to me and told me not to use it again or I could be jailed. After I got off my flight I found a Frontier Airline supervisor and told her what happened. Kim took the tag off my bag (for flight info) and told me a report would be filed and I would here from the airline in 24-48 hours. Three days passed and I finally called them just to find out that there was never a report submitted for me. Poor customer service!
Cons: I've traveled consistently between 4-6 times a year for the last 15 years and this was my first trip with Frontier. It was by far the worst travel experience of my life. One of the passengers was so drunk that she threw up all over the gate agent's podium, and this passenger was still allowed on the plane. When we boarded, we had to circumvent the vomit because it hadn't been cleaned up yet. There were multiple passengers on board who brought their own alcohol, were noticeably drunk and extremely loud. I understand that this is not your crew's fault, but there was a complete lack of understanding as to how to handle the situation. The pilot scorned passengers as a whole, and noted that if people didn't calm down, he would force a landing in North Carolina. The responsible passengers such as myself not only had to tolerate the debauchery, but also felt like we would be potentially be punished for other people's bad behavior. The flight crew seemed to have no idea how to handle this situation. I don't understand why is passenger are blatantly breaking federal regulations, the crew would not do anything about it. When I attempted to check in online, literally ever seat (including middle seats, back row) had an up-charge which is simply ridiculous. the seats were small and very uncomfortable. I will never fly Frontier again. I'd pay double for a flight with another company just to avoid them.
Pros: The flight attendants were fairly kind and considerate when going about their job.
Cons: I fly a lot and have taken a fair share of disappointing flights but this one certain hits the top. The boarding process was chaotic; the woman at the counter was down right rude and did not once make eye contact. The flight crew was close to useless when people were taking too long to be seated or placing bags in the overhead. I cannot rate food or entertainment because frontier is too cheap to even hand out tiny bags of mixed nuts. You certainly pay for what you get. Then we all waited 45 minutes for our bags to be unloaded at baggage claim. That is an unacceptable amount of time! Only for me to realize my bag was lost and somewhere in Mississippi. I've been traveling as a frequent flyer member on united and American for five years and I was considering joining frontier'/ program but after this experience I need to reevaluate.
Pros: the only thing I liked was the flight attendants, other than that my flight experience was awful.
Cons: I hated that I arrived 2 hours before our flight and then got notified that our flight was going to be delayed not once but 3 difference times. so we waited from 4:00 pm pacific time to 10:30 pm to board the plane and 11:00 take off that is 6 hours waiting at the aiport. THAT IS INSANE!! getting to the Denver airport we got there at 2:30 am and had to walk over a mile getting to our hotel till 3:30 am and having my meeting at 7:00 a.m, coming back from Denver to San Diego the same thing our flight was delayed by one hour and 30 minutes. by far this is the worst experience EVER!!! and the only compensation I got was 100.00 dollars off my next flight a free round trip would of made it seem like they actually cared about my time and money.
Pros: I sat in the first row, so the leg room was pretty good.
Cons: Kayak quoted ticket prices in search results that were not consistent and I didn't know off the top of my head that Frontier makes you pay for all luggage, even carry ons. The woman at the ticket counter did not notice my luggage and let me know that I needed to pay extra for it, so I paid twice as much at the gate ($60) after being pulled out of the boarding line. These results should be marked differently so it's not so difficult to figure out which tickets are actually less expensive. Only water on the flight (unless you want to buy a can of soda for $5), only one chance to get water, food is also only for purchase. No entertainment options. An oil slick of grease and grime over my window. Very, very unimpressed.
Cons: I shouldn't have to choose to sit in the exit row in order to get enough legroom to fit comfortably in a flight where I'm not going to get food, peanuts, or a seat that reclines. Every leg of my trip was this way. On my way out I flew a red-eye and planned to sleep because I had business to deal with once I landed. Without legroom or being able to recline I was too uncomfortable to get any sleep. I also had to pay for carry-on AND check baggage? Is a person not supposed to bring anything with them when they fly? Lastly, if I wanted to sit anywhere comfortable or in a reclining seat I again have to pay to upgrade? This fact was unknown to me until the online check in process. Overall, I'm very dissatisfied with my experience. I have another trip next week and I already chose to pay $100 more for American Airlines instead of frontier, I will have comfort, food, wifi, won't have to pay for my baggage. This is America, we expect comfort. At least give us wifi. My experience with Frontier has made up my mind about paying more to get treated the way I deserve, not as if I was flying in a C130 Cargo plane.
Pros: They give you free water on the plane. That's it...
Cons: First off, our flight was delayed 5 hours. I understand because of weather. No big deal. But when it is supposed to leave at 4:15 and You tell everyone 5:15, and then at 5:15 tell everyone it'll be here at 6:15, then at 6:15 it went to 7:15 and then again 8:15. During this entire time, I kept asking for updates and the staff at Frontier seemed angry so many people kept asking....that's your job. Because of the long wait many people didn't eat dinner, JetBlu decided to get coffee and donuts for all of their passengers (they said it over the loud speaker), Frontier didn't give us anything. When the plane landed at 8:15, the slowness of the workers couldn't have been any worse. Loading the bags slow, cleaning the plane slow. Plane gets here at 8:15 and we don't take off until 9:30. You'd think we would get some type of snack or drink for this horrible wait time right? Water is free on frontier, but nothing else. And they stuck with that. NOTHING FREE! Not even a soda or bag of chips! My friend is 6 foot 4 and I'm not sure how they get away with the nonexistent leg room. His knees were smashed against the chair in front of him the entire time. Funny for me, sucked for him (or anyone tall). He asked to change seats to 1 of the 2 open seats we had seen with more leg room (near the side emergency exit). They said no unless he wants to pay $50 right there. In the middle of the flight. I have no words for it. Customer service was horrible, food was nonexistent, drinks were nonexistent, leg room was nonexistent. And that sums up how I'll never be using frontier ever again. Pay $50 more for a better plane service seriously.
Pros: Priority check in for veterans. But will not be using this airline after this trip.
Cons: There is a charge for a carry-on luggage fee of $45 so I paid the $40 fee to check my baggage in. Arrived 3 hours before flight. The flight was delayed for 2 hours. Get to the destination with no transfers and my luggage is the only piece that doesn't make it! The baggage claim attendant was all nonchalant and informed me every bag in their history has ALWAYS showed up in a few days. I'm traveling for a weekend business convention....so I had to repurchase clothing and items and possibly another suitcase fot the return trip. I will not be using this airline in the future.
Pros: I didn't like ANYTHING except the fact that I had already eaten, purchased water, and was finally getting home.
Cons: $40 bag charge for mediocre service (I am being nice.) The a la carte way everything is handle there is a charge for EVERYTHING No wonder the ticket was so cheap, a drink of water cost, peanuts and snacks cost, carry on bag cost If you are not going to be above average or better yet better than Southwest who still gives a free bag a fre drink a free snack and a free carry on then stop charging for a person to simply breathe on your plane. First time flying with Frontier and it will most definitely be the last.
Cons: I do not travel alot and some of this was a disappointment. Making our plane reservation was easy. Then we went to pick our seat assignments. What a surprise when we had to pay more money to just choose our seats. This is a complete rip off for travelers. You already pay to much just to fly and then you pay additional money for seats? And then you pay more money to have a carry on bag. We put this bag under our seat, we carried this bag ourselves, no one from the airline touched this bag, another rip off. I have heard the airlines are not doing great, now I know why. You can include my entire name if you want. Jim Prueter
Pros: one of the waste airline and liers. never said bag have fees.if they see we have a carry on baggage they wait for the last minutes to charge of $60. On cheap flight fare they give the cheapest fare then they wait for baggage. my last trip to Philadelphia other airline offer was $312.00 ist baggage free.i got forntier price around $265. but for the round trip i paid $95 extra for the baggage.so almost $360. on board very unprofessional idiots are working.i told madom you never told about baggage price. Her answer everything in website.if you are not paying now you going to miss the flight. Before we need only 30 mints required for the domestic flight checkin. now just like international travel time required. 2 hour early.2 hour these idiots using for braggaining with customer. Now readers and customer your choice to travel with these idiots or not. Flight crew below average
Pros: Left on time. Arrived early. Crew was pleasant enough. Luggage arrived safely. Having a non-stop flight from east coast to central Texas was great.
Cons: Price of ticket looked good online, but ridiculous add-ons put price above cost on other airlines. Seats were too close. Felt cramped. Price of snacks and beverages too high. Plane looked a little rough on outside, which doesn't matter, but makes one wonder about maintenance of engines and vital parts. Several years ago I felt ripped off by Frontier. They sent tickets to wrong place but charged me $100 for not having paper ticket. So far with my recent experience this time, I would continue to consider using Frontier.
Pros: Our flight was quick with no delays.
Cons: Charging you for just about everything. Apparently paying for my airline ticket did not guarantee I'd have a seat on the plane, so I had to pay an additional sum of money for a seat. Wait, did you think you were finally done paying the airline? Of course not! Want to take anything with you on your trip? Pay for a checked bag. Thought you were clever and decided to just bring a carry on to avoid the charges? Think again! Costs more than checking a bag... All the while messages pop up pushing you to pay for even more random and unnecessary amenities.
Pros: The stewardesses were very nice and did everything they could to calm the passengers down. They were professional and courteous when certain irate passengers (not me or us) screamed at them.
Cons: There was NO COMMUNICATION with the passengers to explain what was going on with they delayed boarding. We woke up at 230am to make the 605am flight which was not easy. My wife is stage 4 cancer with a 7% survival who, after 9 months of surgeries, chemotherapy treatments-9 and countless procedures, struggled to get up to make this early flight. Despite calling the airline, going online there was no indication whatsoever, even after we had checked our bags, that a nearly 7 hour delay was already in store. When we asked the Frontier personnel they had no idea what was going on and did their best to control the situation. Even when they had changed the gate it was a communication nightmare. Folks, we don't live in a perfect world, far from it, but communication would have gone a LONG, LONG way for us and the many other passengers. I did appreciate the $100 credit voucher but I pray that the flight back home will be a lot less dramatic and stressful, especially for my courageous but ailing wife.
Cons: You pay for what you get, so if you pay cheap you get cheap. This airline has all of these little nickel and dime charges for everything. No complimentary drinks, $2 for a soda ridiculous! $40 carry on bag, $15-$35 seat selection, more ridiculous. And the seats are horribly uncomfortable, hard as rock and don't recline. Like some cheap school bus seats! Babies and kids screaming and crying! As much as it cost for all of the BS nickel and dime charges, you might as well pay the price to fly a better my comfortable airlines. With all of the charges it comes out to the about the same in the end!
Pros: I used to love flying Frontier—the airline with the cute animals on the tail of the planes. Now I call them the F word in airlines. If you want to fly Frontier, I want to make sure you’re forewarned. Their slogan is “A different kind of animal.” This animal is very cunning. And slightly savage. First, if you’ve been suckered into their $59 airfares, you already know what’s waiting for you. Wait. You actually want to fly back home? Well you’ll end up paying the same price as you would most any other airline. But wait…what’s this? Actually, their rates are about $100 cheaper than normal. What they don’t tell you is, they charge $30 for you to carry on your own baggage. I always thought it was ludicrous to charge me to carry my own bag onto a plane. Keep in mind that’s one way. So it’s $60 round trip. And that’s their discounted rate if you book online. It goes way up if you’re one of the unfortunates who wait till you’re at the kiosk to settle up with the Frontier Friskers. Oh, you say you want to actually choose your seat? That’s $13 minimum. For each leg of your trip. Don’t be surprised if they figure out a way to charge you for each leg of your body. That’s for a normal seat. If you don’t cough up the $13, they’ll randomly seat you wherever they want. I wouldn’t be surprised if they counted the lavatory as a possibility. So, that’s $60 for your own carry-on luggage. And a minimum $26 if you dare to choose your own cheap seat. Hmm. That $100 savings is looking rather slim right now. Speaking of slim, that describes their seats. And they don’t recline. You’re straight upright your whole trip. And the padding is about as comfortable as a cheap mattress in a cheap motel. The best way I can describe the feeling: Say you’re on Sesame Street and your job is to sit on the capital letter ‘L” for two hours. So while spending what feels like an eternity in L, maybe you’d like something to quench your thirst. That’s $1.99. Water? $1.99. A snack? $2.99. I’m surprised they don’t charge for toilet paper. By the square. (To be fair, I just learned that a cup of water is actually free. “For today,” said the flight attendant. “That could change.”) Nice Surprise: The people who work for Frontier are generally nice. But if this is the way Frontier treats their customers, how do they treat their employees? Do they make their mechanics buy their own tools? I wrote to the company to let them know how hugely disappointed I am with their changes. I never got the courtesy of a reply. I somehow like to imagine the CEO, in the true spirit of “no frills”, answering each customer letter by himself on an Olivetti typewriter from the 1970s. But I kind of doubt it. So there you have it. To be forewarned is to be forearmed. And if you have four arms, well, you might just fit their new slogan. Frontier Airlines: A whole different way to treat people like animals.
Cons: Frontier's low fares which are deceptive. They charge you $60 for carrying your own bag! They charge you $13 per leg for the "privilege" of choosing your seat--even the normal seats. They charge you $1.99 for basic sodas offered by most every other airline for free. And they charge you $2.99 per snack. The seat are slim, terribly uncomfortable with virtually no padding and they don't recline! They don't respond when you write them.
Pros: The flight attending Andrew was very rude. Rude to me and many others. I felt it was the worst experience ive had on a flight, i fly often.
Pros: The crew was very friendly
Cons: This was my first flight with Frontier. I didn't know that the seats do not recline, there is no wifi, and you have to pay extra for literally everything. I didn't realize that you had to pay extra for all bags (I've never heard of anyone charging extra for a carry on) when I purchased my ticket. I chose Frontier due to the affordability of the fare, however once the extra fees are taken into consideration, this was no longer the lowest price available, and there was certainly no other reason to make this airline stand out as preferable over other airlines.
Cons: My flight never happened. I was supposed to fly on a Thursday, but because I was passing through Denver and a blizzard had closed the airport the DAY BEFORE, Frontier's flight was cancelled on Thursday. First I spend an hour and fifteen minutes on hold before finally giving up and calling back in the middle of the night. Then I waited fifteen minutes to speak to someone, who informed me that the earliest they could get me a flight would be TUESDAY. That is FOUR DAYS from my day of departure. My only options were a refund or a Tuesday flight. I asked to speak to a manager, but the employee refused to transfer me and eventually hung up on me. This was hands down the worst customer service experience I have ever had with an airline. I am still fighting for a refund, after I had to purchase a day-of flight with another airline to reach my destination. It required me to fly from a different airport and to a different airport, which was a nightmare for my other travel plans. Needless to say, I will never fly Frontier airlines again, and will never recommend them to anyone.
Pros: The crew had an excellent sense of humor that helped with the not-so-great situation of being delayed for 4 hours.
Cons: Since when did one have to PAY for a very light refreshment on a plane?! We had been in the airport with no food/beverage available because of the time and then not to be compensated even a little bit with a snack of any sort was just more than I could stand. My kids were hungry and thirsty and I was not going to use a credit card for cheese curls and a bottle of water. The interest alone would have been about the same as my mortgage payment! The seats on the plane do not lean back and there is hardly any cushion on them. It was uncomfortable and will make me rethink using Frontier airlines again.
Cons: Delayed for 4 hours - no communication as to why or any updates along the way
Pros: The flight was on time and early to arrive.
Cons: The seats are some of the worst I've experienced. I sat next to a grown gentleman and pretty much had half his body in my seat. My son thats 12 fits perfect but not adults
Pros: Boarding and crew
Cons: WiFi, movies, food
Cons: The flight was delayed and not even announced at the terminal.
Pros: Cheap ticket
Cons: More comfy , WiFi would have been great even if we had to pay for it
Pros: I liked that I made it to and from orer destination alive.
Cons: Ridiculous trip cancellation policy, even WITH the trip insurance I paid extra for. Most uncomfortable seats I've EVER sat on on any airliner (didn't recline, cheap plastic with no padding, CRAMMED to the max). Tray table was roughly the size of my phone, wouldn't be able to pull a laptop out to get work done even if I wanted to. $55 unexpected cost of carry-on bag per person is downright THIEVERY. Red eye flight and lights were not dimmed, air flow was turned way down almost to the point of non existent so it was stifling hot. No help was given to the mother of the crying toddler who screamed the entire 3 hour and 20 minute flight (at least offer a free cookie or something to help sooth popping ears or anxiety for Christ's sake!). Absolutely WORST airline I've ever flown with and will NEVER fly with you again.
Cons: Horrible airlines, I’ll never book with you again. My hour flight I booked in advance was overbooked, so they gave me a different flight. The new flight had a 10 hour layover. I asked to be refunded so I could book a ticket with another airlines and was told tickets are non refundable. You overbooked and then make me pay for your mistake. Spent 2 hours on the phone attempting to get it resolved and no luck. Worst customer service ever. Save your money don’t book through kayak for or spirt airlines. Next time I’ll pay extra to book directly through United!
Pros: They eventually got us there. staff were friendly.
Cons: Online check-in - DID NOT WORK. Awaited the email, but never came. At the airport - kiosk didn't work. Got an attendant - flight had started boarding 5-10m before getting the agent / *their* policy is no boarding passes after that -- even though hours earlier the online check-in was done. They charged for the baggage, so parts took. Reality seems to be that flight was oversold. Upon rebook at next flight - that one was delayed due to awaiting inbound flight attendant. They know this stuff hours ahead of time, but never say.
Pros: The snack selection on the flight and food package options were reasonably priced, and there were quite a few good options.
Cons: We arrived at the airport and were through security over an hour prior to our flight's takeoff. We decided to grab breakfast at a restaurant approximately 2-3 gates down from our gate. We arrived back at our gate 17 minutes prior to the departure time and the door to the entryway was already closed. No spirit attendants remained at the gate to assist or inform us about who we should speak to regarding this matter. We sat at the gate and watched our flight take over 15 minutes to pull away from entryway with no one available to direct us. After the plane pulled away, a few Spirit staff members came back out the door to the gate, and when we inquired as to why our names were not called throughout the airport (as we heard many other names called while sitting at the airport) they informed us we would have to talk to the customer service desk if we had an issue. We went to the customer service desk and they put us on another flight, which did not depart until late that day. We went to the customer service desks of 3 other airlines attempting to find a sooner flight, and when we explained Spirit closed the gates 17 minutes early, each airline stated that the industry standard is 10 minutes. Not only does Spirit not follow the industry standard, but they also shut the gates 2minutes prior to Spirit's standard which is 15 minutes before the flight. Additionally, no effort was made to call our names prior to the flight, as is customary with all airlines. Two days later, we went to board our return flight, which a week prior to our trip we paid $585 to change to that day, and when we went to check in we were not scheduled to be on that return flight. We showed proof of switching our flight and luckily the attendant was able to get us on that flight, however, we were extremely rushed getting through security and due to Spirit's mistake almost missed this flight as well. If no seats would have been available we would not have been able to get home despite paying to switch the flight a week in advanced. Overall, we were very disappointed with our experience traveling with Spirit and would not recommend the airline to anyone. We are frequent travelers for both business and recreation and have never experienced such poor customer service.
Pros: This flight had more legroom than ANY flight that I had taken in years. I'm not sure if I just got lucky and landed in an upgraded seat or if that is standard on that plane, but it was great! This crew was also one of the best I have encountered. The cabin was very cold, but as soon as I asked the attendant to turn up the heat, she happily did, and I was more comfortable. She then came back to check on me to make sure I was better. Then... when I was going into the bathroom to brush my teeth, she stopped me and insisted that I take take the fresh, unused portion of a water bottle to use-- so as not to rely on the "plane" water. I would never had thought of such a thing-- but she was right, and for that, I was safer and more comfortable. Both attendants were also immediately at the ready with unlimited hand sanitizer after my bathroom experience. These kinds of things show me that they were pre-prepared to go above and beyond for my comfort and well being-- that is RARE in the airline industry, and I definitely appreciated those extra steps. Please look up their names from my itinerary, and give them the credit they deserve!!! All of my gate attendants were great too.
Cons: Both of my flights that day were late, but honestly, I do believe that was due to the weather--- so I was not upset. The HARD sales pitch for bags and extras was excessive. There was no food or entertainment, so that's why I gave them a 1
Pros: Flight was early, plane was clean. Flight was uneventful
Cons: They charge ridiculous prices for luggage, even carry ons. Paid $42 each way for one checked bag. Food and drink are not free. Water was broken on plane in washroom. They try to get you to pay for a seat, otherwise you may not sit with your family. Only allow 40lbs in checked luggage, but you can bring as much weight as you want in personal or carry on. 41+ lbs costs an extra $30. They nickel and dime you for everything even $10 to print boarding pass. Initial price on Kayak was lower than everyone else, but with all the add ons turned out to be much more expensive. Not allowed to bring tennis racquets on board, have to check them. Jet Blue allows them to be carried on board. Will NEVER fly this airline again.
Pros: The fact that there was a nonstop flight from PHL to LAX at a reasonable time of day.
Cons: When we arrived, it seemed Spirit was understaffed. There was a long line at check-in, and no bag drop. The attendants seemed stressed, understandably. We were seated in the second to last row, in front of three unaccompanied minors. The flight attendants were doing their best to make sure the kids behaved, but they were incredibly disruptive. My wife and I agreed: unless Spirit has a deal that's too good to afford, we will not be flying with them again. What you may save initially, you pay for in quality of service, comfort, and convenience.
Cons: Flight was delayed 30mins and than as they announced boarding would begin , the next minute they were canceling the flight . Flight was supposed to get in originally 8:15, than with the delay 8:45 .... and they said that it was canceled because of a flight curfew . Which is a lie because the curfew is 11:30 at not and you can still even fly the airline may be subject to penalty if repeat offender . So spirit canceled a full flight for no reason , leaving the only alternative to be a 12 hour flight the next day .
Cons: -The fees quickly added up to the same as other comparable flights. -We had booked two evening flights, both of which were rescheduled several times, then cancelled - pushing flights to the next day. -Please keep in mind that if they cancel your flight you are entitled to full refund of all amounts paid. -After refunding $900 in expenses, Spirit charged a $150 cancellation fee and some $40 strange fee. These amounts should not have been taken out for a refund when the airline is at fault and after some hassle, they refunded the full amount. -When you value your time, do not fly Spirit.
Cons: My wife and I received an email stating that our flight was delayed by an hour. We arrived to the airport 2 1/2 hours early and when we checked our bags, the man at the Spirit counter confirmed the flight was leaving an hour later than scheduled. We sat by the gate at a restaurant for two hours and went to get on the airplane 45 minutes before the plane was supposed to leave and the spirit gate had been shut early. Spirit announced that they were calling the last boarders as they were shutting the gate and when we walked up they would not let us board the plane. Hence, we miss Lee our flight. No one was willing to help us, or let us on, even though they boarded at the original time and not the delayed time as emailed and there were no other announcements made besides the last one. I have flown Spirit many times, and have always had a bad experience. I will NEVER fly them again!! They have lost my business forever.
Pros: That the flight was over and I was done flying with spirit.
Cons: Literally everything is extra on a spirit flight. I have just started flying more recently and this is the first time I think I have taken a spirit flight because I would have remembered to avoid this company because of their service. If you wanted to bring a carry on bag that is bigger than a small back pack, you pay for it. Some water on your flight, pay for it. Leg room and comfort of the seats, horrible. Any in flight entertainment, no. Any USB charging, no. I would not choose spirit again if I have the chance. And there were plenty of delays with both my flight to and from my destination. I don't know if spirit has any control over that, but it makes for a horrible flying experience. My 1 hour 10 min flight turned in to 3 and a half hours thanks to waiting in the airport, on the terminal, and circling in the sky.
Cons: My flight was delayed by over three hours on Sunday traveling from Philadelphia to Los Angeles. Flight delays happen but there was zero communication from anyone at the airport let alone anyone at the customer service desk. They also changed our gate several times, which led people going back and forth completely confused and upset without anyone there to answer questions or help explain where we should be, etc. This was a terrible experience and I will not be flying Spirit again and will encourage friends and co-workers to do the same.
Pros: Over the last 10 years I've traveled domestically and internationally on umpteen airlines -- including Spirit once before -- and I've literally never seen a plane boarded faster than I did on this evening's flight 787 from Vegas to San Diego. Crew were very friendly, flight was easy as it could be.
Cons: The two women at bag check. I *never* check bags, and I *always* use kiosks to acquire my boarding ticket. Tonight, though, I tried three kiosks and none of them worked. Because I was in a hurry I dashed over to bag check (there was no line) to find two young women chatting away. Fair enough, they don't have any customers. But now they do. I stood there for a couple seconds then asked one of them to please help me get my boarding ticket. She looked at me like I was being rude or putting her out for asking her to do her job. She told me to use a kiosk. I explained that I'd already tried and again asked her to help me. The other girl wasn't quite as rude but neither one of them seem to have the slightest interest in customer service, which is weird, because that's their job description. Anyway, I hope both of them walked into an out-of-service automatic door tonight.
Pros: Cheap ticket purchase price
Cons: I was charged for carrying on my roll on bag because of its shape. While my brother on the same flight carried on an even larger backpack. But, it was considered a personal item. Also because we did not wish to pay even more to pick our seats, we were assigned the last row on the plane where the fuselage begins to taper towards the tail of a plane. Therefore it there was not nearly enough shoulder room for my brother and me. Overall the discomfort, lackadaisical staff, and shrewd penny-pinching policies insured that I will never fly Spirit Airlines again.
Pros: Started off OK but then we quickly downhill flight was canceled due to fog in San Diego so I never made it onto the plane.
Cons: Weather delay with fog in San Diego. Not Spirit's fault but they delayed for an hour and a half and then cancel the flight. As they canceled the flight they came around with cards with a number to call to rebook or change your itinerary. I called the number on the car rather than getting right in line at the desk. By the time I got through on the phone it would have been 10 to 15 minutes. They told me that since I was halfway through my return trip they couldn't do anything over the phone. So then I had to get in line and wait. I was the last person served. They offered me a flight to days later at the same time 9:45 PM that was unacceptable so I ask for something else and he somehow turned out they had a Houston Chicago San Diego flight that leaves tomorrow morning at seven. Very disappointed in the handling by the rebooking staff on the phone the gate agents were very friendly but very overworked and stressed. Service manager was there and he put me on a call back on the phone but that didn't help either. Not flying spirit again anytime soon.
Pros: Direct flight
Cons: The 40 pound weight limit on checked baggage is both surprising and infuriating. Then the 30 dollar additional fee is completely asinine if you are between 40 and 50 pounds on that checked bag. Also your fee for a carry-on bag is completely ridiculous. I ended up transferring weight from my checked bag to my backpack to avoid the 30 dollar additional fee. The result was that the airplane weighed the exact same as before I transferred weight, and Spirit airlines angered their customer. I was courteous to all the staff but I would rather pay more for a flight, have better customer service, better baggage policies, and avoid all the nickle and dime charges that Spirit employs. I think I just took my first and last flight on Spirit. Good luck to you!
Cons: A woman at the LAX (connection point) boarding area was so rude to the point where a supervisor got involved. I had a carry on with insulin(I'm type 1 diabetic) that she told me I had to check in. I politely asked her why since Philadelphia international did not give me any issues about it. I also told her that I'm type 1 diabetic and can die without it. She said "you're either checking this bag in or no one is boarding" and proceeded to put the security arm down. I spoke to a Supervisor, who told me it was completely fine. My 7 year old child and I finally boarded thanks to the supervisor. My advise to the wpmn is to stop and think why another reputable airport would have let someone through with the bag she's refusing to let in due to simple fact of size. This was not larger than a normal carry on. I understand that flights are often full and make these requests but certainly not in a humiliating way and ceerriamlg not after being told that it contains medicine that someone can die without.
Pros: Absolutely nothing
Cons: From the minute after booking my flight there were problems. The confirmation page with my flight details had the wrong flight. I had to talk to someone who I could hardly understand for over an hour to correct this issue. When I arrived for my flight it had been delayed 3 hours, then delayed 4 hours, then cancelled. Had to go back to the ticket desk where 100 other unhappy travelers had to wait for 3 ticket desk agents that were offering to reschedule my flight for the same time the following day. My confidence this airline would actually follow through with my new travel arrangements were absolutely zero. I requested a full refund and was unable to fulfill my travel plans. I would never book a flight on spirit airlines again and would go out of my way to prevent anyone I know from making the same mistake. Such a horrible excuse for an airline!!
Pros: Inexpensive and easily available flights
Cons: THEY CHARGED ME $65 AT THE GATE FOR MY BAG THAT COMPLETELY FIT IN THEIR DEFINED DIMENSIONS! When I checked my bag at home, it was within their dimensions. When I checked it at the ticket counter it fit within their metal frame for measuring. When I got to the gate, they told me to step aside and check my bag. Without even looking at my bag, the lady at the counter told me it wouldn't fit and I had to pay extra. I told her it fit, and with an attitude, she asked me to put it in the frame to see if it fit. Suddenly, it did not. She said it didn't fit by over 2 inches. It was less than a 1/4 of an inch, and barely that. I was furious. She refused to care, refused to listen to me, and told me that it was either pay the $65 and board the plane or leave the bag there. Totally rude, and did this to SEVERAL OTHER PASSENGERS. HIGHLY DOUBT I'LL EVER FLY THIS AIRLINE AGAIN.
Cons: I arrived 35mins to departure and was told I could not board my flight and would have to pay an extra $100 to rebook for a later flight. The flight they wanted to rebook me for was still selling for the same rate which I purchased my original ticket. The woman at the counter still said I would have to pay the extra $100. I only had a carry on. There was no reason I should have not been able to board my original flight or at the least rebook at no cost. Total rip offs but I guess that's what I get for flying with such a low class airline like Spirit. Never again and I will never recommend flying with this airline. They have so many hidden fees.
Cons: Flight from Detroit to Philadelphia was cancelled the morning of the trip. Wait time to talk to a Kayak rep was 1 hr 20 min, then the Kayak rep that tried to help us was informed by Spirit that we had to talk with them directly. Then the wait time for Spirit rep was over an hour and their website function was down. When we finally reached the Spirit rep they informed us that they would not help us reschedule another flight to get to our destination, and our choices were to get a refund or fly out with them 2 days later. Neither of these choices were an option for us, so we had to purchase last minute tickets on our own for an outrageous price with another airline. Spirit said the hurricane/weather was the reason they cancelled the flight, but the weather was fine on our route and no other airline had trouble getting from Detroit to Philly. I have NEVER experienced an airline being completely unwilling to work with me during scheduling problems. This situation cost us a ton of money, and worse we missed a very important event. We were extremely disappointed to say the least and will most likely not consider flying with Spirit again.
Pros: I tried to check in on line. No one sent me the check in mail. I tried many times. Since kayak sent it to price line, I tried with price line and it said to go directly to spirit. I went to spririt many time but unsuccessful. I fill in information but drops the information. I decided to check in at airport. Trains made big delays and arrived airport 45 min before departure and dead line was 1 hour before. I was cut. No other flights were available except for the same one on the next day. They charged $99 for change fee. I missed many appointments, spent extra $99. There is very little direct flights between phl and lax, and price seems good at the beginning but ended up expensive and lost one day, spirit had very very bad service and I don't want to use it again.
Cons: I want to receive mail for check in. Spirit should repair their website so that people can check in on line. They should make people check in at airport if they had a failure on their web. Check in dead Lind needs to move to 40min prior to departure instead of 60 min. if it was caused by their failure, they should not charge for change fee of $98. I just hate spirit.
Pros: The cost of the trip was very low - with all the frills removed, air travel can be relatively cheap. Plan ahead - you will not be able to use TSA Pre-Check, you will have to pay extra to carry on a bag (so buy your bag online at the airline's website before you go to the airport - this is the cheapest way to do it as they charge you more to purchase the carry-on at the check-in counter and even more if you wait until the boarding gate), and you will have to pay for all beverages including water and provide your own in-flight entertainment. If you plan ahead and know what you're getting into, flying Spirit can be a pleasant experience. The flight staff is friendly and polite.
Cons: The seats are very close together - don't expect to have any leg room - and they do not recline. Bring a neck pillow if you have any intention of sleeping.
Cons: The flight was delayed nearly 5 hours due to mechanical problems. As an early morning flight, the mechanical issues were known in advance--the plane did not arrive as scheduled the night before--yet passengers were not notified until check in at the airport. We could have made other arrangements (or slept until a normal hour) if we had been promptly notified. The gate agents were not understanding, and no accommodation--such as complimentary soft drinks--was made for our inconvenience. I felt like Spirit wasted my day.
Pros: on time
Cons: The airline is overcharging! Before I left, I googled "spirit airlines baggage". I made sure that my personal bag and carry-on are within the required size. The website does not say that carry-on will be charged. At the counter, I was charged $55 for the carry-on. It is a light carry-on (I basically just had a sleeping bag). On the return flight, I protested for being charged for the carry-on because the website did not clearly say carry-on would be charged. The ladies at the desk then asked me to pay $100+ for my carry-on. $100+ is the price one would have to pay upon boarding without having paid for luggage. I ended up paying $65.00 for the carry-on because I did not pay for it at the check-in counter. I was flying to O'Hare earlier that day so there was no need for me to go outside to get the boarding pass and pay for the carry-on. Still I was asked to pay $65. With my air fare being just about $125, it is unbelievable that I had to pay $120 for a carry-on. I had heard of an NPR interview about the frugality of this airline and I am in favor of it. But it is deceiving to charge low airfiar only to get it back with charging excessively on the carry-on. If the carry-on has to be charged, they should clearly highlight it on the website so customers are alerted. In addition, it is also an unfair practice to other airlines. Had I known that I’d pay $200+ for the airfare to go on Spirit, I would have chosen a different airline. I plan to write to the Spirit and other agencies.
Pros: Absolutely nothing. Our flight was scheduled for 750a. We wake up 5am to ge to the airport, while waiting for the cab I decided to check my email to find out the flight was cancelled due to "mechanical issues". Which means they didn't sell out the flight. The rep I called caught a lot of my animosity, which the issue wasn't her fault, but she remained professional to her credit. The next flight was the next morning already a day into my vacation. I declined cause I wasnt gonna be Charlie Brown to thier Lucy. She then closed out the phone call with the normal spill, "we appreciate your business, book online, we are always here for you etc." This further annoyed me. My vacation was ruined and you think I would ever give Spirit another shot at anything at all in my life.
Pros: Worst flight EVER! Our flight was delayed for 4 hours before finally being canceled. We told to come back and check the status every 3o minutes, which we did and were assured the flight would not be canceled. My wife and I ended up having to rush like crazy to jump on another flight with Alaska Air in order to get home to be a work the next day. We ended up boarding 5 minutes before takeoff. We ended up leaving all of our friends behind and they are still stuck at the airport today in Cabo, San Lucas. When we landed in San Diego, Spirit's website claimed the flight left at 5pm which was FALSE! Needless to say, I will never fly Spirit Air again and will advise all of my friends and family to never book Spirit Air again either.
Pros: I liked the minimalist design of the seats, crew were nice
Cons: I hated that we were charged 50$ for a carry on! And then we have to pay for our seats and drinks and everything. I know this is supposed to be low cost but I could have gotten a first class ticket at another airline and much better food and service than this. At the boarding terminal, the lady told me, after I waited in line all afternoon, that I had to go back and get my printed boarding pass from the kiosk. What airline can't print the pass at the desk! When I told her I needed to check my carry on when I purchased a carry on price, she got lazy and wouldn't check it so she printed out my boarding the pass there. Lies! I will never fly this airline again unless they paid me to!
Cons: This airline is serious about "no frills." I didn't realize this until check-in: my "cheap" ticket would get me absolutely nothing in terms of accomodations that most travelers depend on, like a carry-on bag. "No frills" policy aside - the check in process was HORRIBLE. I thought I could easily check in using my cell phone -- wrong. This website has no mobile version for cell phone users. I had to get my laptop to easily navigate the very slow website. Even when navigaing on the laptop, I had trouble navigating around between pages. I couldn't return to the previous page to de-select my chosen seats. It was also difficult to choose an option that didn't include PAYING for the seats.
Pros: The best part was the low fare I found through kayak for a one-way trip from Vegas to San Diego.
Cons: I didn't like the people sitting behind me and the older gentleman flight attendant had a sense of humor that was a bit off-putting for me personally. Maybe others enjoyed it, but not my cup of tea! The flight was initially delayed upon arrival by at least 30 - 40 minutes. No assistance to be found at the gate. Then an additional 20 or so minutes delay after all had been seated for two passengers, one of whom could barely walk straight. These two kept the entire plane waiting only to get off before take off. REALLY?? What a cluster. Will not be flying Spirit again.
Cons: I am a Spirit member and I did not like that the website clearly states that if the luggage fits within the box you do not have to pay to carry it on...mine did fit, yet I had to pay $55.00 to carry on. I did not receive credit for the mileage and when I called to get that corrected I was put on hold for 25 minutes before I hung up. I think that $2.00 for a 6 oz. cup of coffee is ridiculous and to get the attention of a flight attendant was not worth the time. Bottom line, you get what you pay for. The next flight I book will be with a reputable airline that may price the flight a little higher, BUT will be upfront about luggage fees, provide incidentals and hopefully not treat me like I'm a burden.
Pros: nothing was impressive.
Cons: Charging for every single thing they can possibly charge you for. The icing on that cake is that they even charge you for water in flight. Now, that is so horrible. Only taking credit cards too. There are many older people on these flights that do not even have credit cards.... so they may not have water? Cheap flight!!??? nope, add everything together and with flight attendants that don't want to be there and a captain that let us sit on the tarmac for a good 15 minutes before thinking he should tell us what's going on. That was my first and it is my last Spirit flight! And i am telling everyone that i know not to fly Spirit. Some people I have told have stories of their own and said they won't fly Spirit ever again too.
Cons: We were unable to board out flight. We arrived at the airport 50 minutes before our flight. We tried but were unable to print our boarding passes at home. When we got there we waited behind 2 couples before getting up to the attendant. When we got to the front they told us we were too late and could not take our flight. We were 44 minutes before our flight and they close their system at 45 minutes. We called customer service and they told us the supervisor could open the flight and let us on if we showed her that we tried to print our boarding passes and could not. We had a picture and showed her but she did not care. She was not letting us on our flight for anything. I don't know if she was on a power trip or what but I have NEVER experienced such poor customer service and unwillingness to help a customer in my life. They then told us they could book us on the next flight out, which was the next day. We went to American and flew American. They were super helpful and got us on a flight out 2 hours later. Thankfully for American we only missed the first night of our conference and not a full day, like Spirit would have had us miss. I will never fly spirit again after that experience.
Pros: Your flight staff (flight attendants) are always great.
Cons: I attempted to purchase luggage before each of my flights (departure and return) and the website would not allow it. I called the customer service number multiple times and it said they were experiencing technical difficulties. I was forced to purchase luggage allowance at the airport on both flights and was forced to pay a much larger amount that what I normally would have had to pay if the website was working. This excessive fee really makes the option of flying spirit less economical, frustrating, and really obliterates any reason to fly with your airline. Additionally, I was able to purchase seating before my flight- but on my return flight they put me in a seat that I did not pay for. The flight attendant did make a correction. Your staff at the main terminals is consistently extremely slow, unfortunately. I really like the flight attendants, they are always great. However, due to the above mentioned issues I have had recurrently, I will certainly be reluctant to purchase Spirit flights in the future
Cons: Spirit airlines cancelled our flight because of weather but every other airline continued to fly out. In fact, we were able to get a flight out at almost exactly the same time on American Airlines. The worst part was that they were trying to reschedule us for 2 days later!! They said that was the soonest we could fly on their airline. Im not sure who on earth can change their plans by 2 days at the last minute but it sure wasn't an option for us. There also was to be no help for the 2 nights (at 250$ per nigh0t we would have had to stay at a hotel.
Pros: Absolutely nothing.
Cons: Their customer service is horrible and virtually nonexistent. They charge for everything including water. I boarded a plane scheduled to take off at 1:30 from Las Vegas. The plan pulled out to the runway and sat there for two hours while maintanence attempted to fix the broken emergency exit lights. After waiting for two hours on the runway the plane proceeded back to the gate. Where we say on the plane for another hour, while the crew constantly reassured us the problem would be fix momentarily. During this time the air conditioning was turned off in order to reboot the whole computer system and being in Vegas the cabin got very hot. I got up and asked the flight attendant and she refused to give me a sip of water. After that hour we were taken off the plane and forced to wait for another hour and a half with only one customer service agent to address passenger's questions. The only answer she could us was "I don't know any details I am just the middle man". Eventually the plane arrived in San Diego 5 hours late. By that time I had already missed the ceremony of a wedding in which I was a groomsman. I got off the plane and rushed to get my bag from the baggage claim only to find that my bag was not there. I went to the spirit help desk in San Diego and nobody was available. So I called spirit customer service in Las Vegas 3 times in a row before a human answered. I was told there was a mix up and my bag was left in Las Vegas. After the whole ordeal of the delayed flight and missing bag. All I was offered was a $50 voucher good towards a spirit airlines. I refused the offer as I would NEVER fly spirit even for free.
Pros: Can't say I liked anything about this flight.
Cons: For starters, I get an email telling me I have to check in online or pay $10 to do it with a person (I'm ok with online check in but seriously?!). Then during online check in I come to find that you have to pay for carry-on luggage, and if you don't pay the $45 for it online you will pay upwards of $100 when you get there. Next I come to discover, although I bought a ticket I did not actually have a seat. I had to pay anywhere between $9-$45 to guarantee "I could sit next to my friend", if not I could take a gamble and not have a seat. Once we were seated on the place it turns out your seat is not guaranteed, two poor gentlemen behind my husband and myself were booked with the same seat. The amount of people I heard verbally express they were dissatisfied was so far greater than any "low fare" prices they offer. There is no form of entertainment (which I can deal with) and no complementary snacks or beverages; again, I can deal without them but they are such a standard on other airlines. Finally, I grew very annoyed with all their reminders as to why they do the things they do, in fact to "keep our fares low". I'm sorry your fares are not great because all of the hidden costs. Needless to say, I won't be flying spirit EVER again.
Cons: Spirit cancelled our flight two hours after its original take-off time, only informing us via e-mail. Passengers had to use the intercom system at the gate to get a live person to come talk to us and even then it was airport staff, not actual Spirit employees. The staff at the Spirit check-in counter would not help us, and our checked baggage was held hostage for two more hours with no word from Spirit as we all waited at the baggage claim. I have never experienced such poor customer service. I realize this is a cheap company, but if you can't even expect minimum service you're only wasting money and time. This company should not be in business.
Pros: I actually liked the fact that we arrived in LA 45 mins early.
Cons: The Flight Attendants weren't pleasant...one short "black Attendant serving in "Coach" seemed so miserable. She wasn't pleasant AT ALL! Her demeanor was as if she just would rather be somewhere else, anywhere else but here on this flight serving us. The other Attendants weren't overly friendly either, but they weren't as obviously indifferent as this short one was. The Pilot was the nicest part of the whole Fight. Also the fact that I had to pay $50.00 to check my bag $55. to be able to bring it on the plane...the most I've had to pay EVER! thus-far. So the money I saved w/ this Airline cost me more than if I were to have booked my flight w/ another Airline. Also, NO MAGAZINES TO READ, NO MOVIES TO WATCH, FOOD WAS BEING OFFERED AT A PRICE 4 times they dId this..I FOUND THIS TO BE EXTREMELY "TACKY" Especially considering the length of this FLIGHT to CALIFORNIA frm Philadelphia. I never had to pay for in-flight refreshments on shorter flights than this one. I''VE flown more than I ever have in this past year w/ different Airlines and this was the worse experience SO Far! It wasn't worth it! I am NEVER FLYING ANYWHERE W/ THIS AIRLINE AGAIN! I'd rather pay a little more than to be "NICKELED & DIMED" TO DEATH! Also the two passengers I sat next to said the same! Ya'll might want to address these matters or you may NOT EXSIST IN THE NEAR FUTURE.
Pros: There was (I believe a Russian Flight Attendant) on the way to San Diego and back, and she was full of spunk, personality, friendly and fun!!! She made the difficult time fun.
Cons: My flight was 2 hours delayed, so I arrived to San Diego at midnight! There was an elderly woman with her grandchild behind me that kept allowing the infant to slam the little metal table into the back of my chair and no flight attendant noticed, though she did it repeatedly and for a LONG TIME! People with children on board should be watched some because they often allow child to play with parts of the plane that are not toys and make other passengers uncomfortable. While I appreciate the prices of the food sold, there could be maybe better selections for a slightly higher price, butt I was relieved you had Ramen. That helped hold me over!!
Pros: Absolutely nothing
Cons: Customer service is horrible. You get what you pay for. My first encounter was with the greeter who was extemely rude. I have never flown with Spirit and had questions about the baggage costs. Her response to me was rude and condescending unlike the other carrier I had flown with the day prior. I arrived to my gate 1 1/2 hours prior to my flight time. I had been checking the board as my flight was delayed since the morning. I went to grab something to eat close to my terminal (listening to all the announcements) and when I got back I was told my flight had already departed. I question how that was so since I was there and had not heard anything. They changed the gate number my flight was leaving from and moved up the time. She proceeded to rip up my boarding passes. I asked what my options were and in her rude tone she answered "well you can rent a car and start driving". Never again....and I will be sure to pass along my experience as others tried to warn me.
Pros: The only good thing was the nice agent who tried to help me get a new flight
Cons: My flight was cancelled. No reason given except weather and the tower. Other flights were leaving with no problem. It was cancelled as I went through security so I ahd no idea until another passenger at the gate told me. Everyone else had gone back down to the ticket counter to figure out a new flight. After waitng in line an hour I was told there was not another flight out unitl the next night. Also told I could have just called and gotten my refund instead of standing in line. I surprised my son with a day trip to lego land. I was flying out of san diego the next night. I had to leave that day from vegas. Because of the cancellation I had to rent a car and driv from las vegas to san diego. We got in late and missed our time playing at the beach and swimming. This was my only experience with spirit and I will never fly this airline again. It was absolutely horrible the way the cancellation was handled. You messed up my entire weekend with my son.
Cons: Late flight. Delayed flight on and then delayed again... unable to tell us when the flight would take off.. unable to rebook flight to the next morning... Airport reported that plane was broken and required a part from JFK airport and that they did not know when that part would arrive...and once it arrived they had no idea how long it would take to fix that plane. Then approaching the new 3 hour and 40 minute delayed flight time, we ended up switching gates to a different plane anyway. the plane got into Dallas around 330AM which was difficult to make arrangements for transportation upon arrival. Would not fly again.
Pros: not much
Cons: Denver has a blizzard the night before. Let's assume, it's going to remain a cold night after the snow stops. If your flight leaves at 710 am, you might think there would be ice and frozen things on the plane that might need to be addressed before the flight can depart. at 730 they come out and say "the plane's engines are frozen, sorry" Why was no one there earlier prepping the engines? There was NO indication by the crew that any prep happened before. They gave us the impression that they were as "shocked" as we were. I would have assumed that it would have been an issue for all the airlines, but the American flight that was at the gate next to us took off on time, as did the other plane next to us. This is clearly a Spirit airline issue. I somehow made it to denver international airport on time, against all odds. I was going to be able to make my meeting in San Diego on time, but then the ONE thing that's supposed to go off without a hitch (the airplane being ready to go) didn't. All because of clear lack of preparation after a storm. Never again spirit airlines. EVER.
