"Great trip, excellent price! No entertainment on board which is typical for this short flight. I did enjoy the option to purchase snacks."
"Never even got to board the plane. They delayed it over two hours. The woman said there was a weight and balance issue and that she didn’t know what was wrong with the plane but kids needed to be in the back. She scared everyone in the terminal and people started leaving. They finally got everyone boarded two and a half hours after initial take off time, then had an extra seat available so they allowed a stand by to board the plane. About fifteen minutes later, they came back onto the plane and removed the standby, as well as a family of three. None of those people could get their luggage back. They offer 90 day vouchers for $500."
Pros: "Seat was average."
Cons: "If frontier was offering drinks and snacks again"
Pros: "Cheap airfare."
Cons: "The entertainment and small charges."
Cons: "Plane was scheduled to depart at 8:20 pm it was then delayed until 8:58 pm due to weather. We all boarded the plane and were ready for take off when a maintenance issue was discovered. We all deplaned and we’re told we would be put on a new plane arriving from Seattle set to depart at 11:30 pm. This departure time was delayed until 1:35 am and then 2:35 am because the captain had timed out and we would need to wait for a new pilot. Also due to the first delay everything was coded as “weather” and customer service was unable to give hotel rooms. This miscommunication between corporate and passengers and the late night created lots of frustration. Instead of being helpful or honest customer service called security on the disgruntled passengers. I heard no threats of violence just elevated voices. At midnight Frontier began handing out meal vouchers (15 dollars to McDonald’s) as a way to increase morale. I finally gave up and requested a refund, got a hotel, and a new flight on a different airline (all Frontier flights the next day were sold out). When I asked what would happen to my checked luggage they said it would be sent to Dallas (my destination) or I could pay for it to be sent back to Denver. The flight and my luggage arrived in Dallas at 5:30 am. Paid $400 for Southwest flight the next day (flying into different Dallas airport away from my parked car and luggage) just for the guaranteed service."
Cons: "The seats do not recline & they are very small so it was hard to be comfortable. My daughter found it hard to rest. The extra bag fees were a surprise and the fact that we landed an hour late because there was bad weather but we weren't told that we would be late until we were about to land and by then our ride had been waiting an hour and there was no way to notify them. I will not fly Frontier again unless I absolutely have to."
Pros: "The personal is berry frendly"
Pros: "price, clean plane, arrived ahead of schedule."
Cons: "Flight crew -- 99% of us have flown before and know what to do when boarding. We all don't need individual attention to put a bag in overhead. All you did was slow the boarding process WAY down by constantly clogging the aisle giving advice how to put a bag in overhead."
Pros: "Once we were on our 8am flight at 9PM the crew was great"
Cons: "Having a delay of 12 + hours with no compensation what so ever was very poor PR from Frontier. Another airline near our gate had a few hour delay and they provided drinks and snacks for those waiting. We did not get notification about delay by email until after we were already at the airport. Once there Frontier staff were totally indifferent to our hardship. That is not how you build loyalty with riders... Needless to say I will never fly Frontier again"
Pros: "2.5 hours is long enough to get thirsty, a cup of water would have been nice."
Cons: "Lack of staffing for check in stood on line for 20 min missed breakfast only to wait to board and then sitting on runway for 30- 40 min for computers to work"
Pros: "I would change about the service"
Cons: "I wouldn't make any changes"
Pros: "This flight-my return flight left on time. My flight to Denver was delayed 2 hrs. No one at the desk said anything until it was time to board, then they let us know of the 2 hr delay. Disorganized!"
Cons: "Disorganized and nickle & dimed ! Carry on's cost, drinks in flight cost, can't select seats until you check in.....as a whole-not customer friendly. Won't fly Frontier again."
Pros: "Don't get me wrong, I knew I was buying a budget flight and I appreciate that it was available. However, when you ask me give a review of the food (there was none) beverage ($2.99 for a bottle of water) and service (I held my trash for most of the flight waiting for the crew to come get it) your not going to get 5 stars. The price was great. I have never sat in such a small seat and the folding tray was not big enough to balance my water bottle. But the Steelers won so that was good."
Pros: "Friendly crew, on time departure, great landing by flight crew."
Cons: "My flight was on time departing and arrived at my destination a little early, which the crew was eager to point out. However, my entire flight waited over an hour at the baggage claim! the baggage claim was crammed with multiple flights and the Frontier personnel kept changing what baggage claim my bag was coming from (I literally was directed from baggage claim 1 to baggage claim 3 then back to baggage claim 1). This is unacceptable. Don't boast that you got us to our destination ahead of schedule and then make everyone wait over an hour just to get our bags."
Pros: "Cheap price. Direct Service."
Cons: "Rude and snarky flight attendants that refused me service for the entire flight and sought to humiliate me when confronted. Pilot seemed careless and rough in his efforts to descend the plane. Waiting excessive time in the plane before take off and disembarking."
Cons: "First time flyer with Frontier. Unexpected and what I feel were hidden fees. Baggage fees, especially the carry-on, seat fees, and a charge for water! Won't get fooled again."
Pros: "$49 price for ticket from Pittsburgh to Las Vegas. (WARNING: uncomfortable seat only, doesn't include any baggage)."
Cons: "The seats are very uncomfortable. They are smaller than before and the airline claims they are "pre-reclined." The boarding process is poorly organized (should fill from back to front). The staff is not friendly. Food costs, they claim you can't consume your own alcohol, and they begrudgingly give you water if you press them. When the plan landed at the exact time the pilot predicted 4.5 hours earlier, they told us that we were "early" and kept everyone waiting with seatbelts fastened. In fact the crew frequently abused the seatbelts fastened light during calm air. Don't fly Frontier unless it is severely cheaper; the experience is terrible."
Pros: "Booked a ticket on frontier with a pretty good price, my back still hurts from the new seats all the airline's are converting to."
Cons: "For reference: I'm 5'2", 125lb and female. The seats were small and uncomfortable, there is almost no leg room at all, the food tray is smaller than my tablet, the food is overpriced, the staff are overworked, there is NO entertainment, and paying $40 for a checked bag is outrageous. I have never felt more like cattle on my life, and I have been packed into the metro in Rome at rush hour. And to top it all off, my flight was delayed 3 hours. I will never fly frontier again"
Pros: "The crew on my flight from Dallas to Denver did nothing about the obnoxious children (6 & 9yrs old) behind me who kept screaming, yelling & kicking my seat & the one next to me. The little boy behind my neighbor stood up & hit the man on the head."
Cons: "While waiting on my flight in Denver to go back to Dallas they changed gates on at least 5 different flights & it was very confusing watching groups of 50-100 passengers moving back & forth. This all happened in about 15min & my flight was called to board during all this chaos but because the woman making the announcements did not speak very good English I along with several others missed our flights. When i went to customer service to rebook my flight they tried to charge me $100 to rebook!!!!! Other airlines will try to book you on the next available flight thru another airline. Frontier told me the next available was 24hrs later, same time the next day. I was supposed to be back at work the next day. So i ended up spending $150 on a hotel room that i couldn't really afford. I WILL NOT FLY WITH FRONTIER AGAIN."
Cons: "Carry on charge is a bit much but I understand your reasoning behind"
Pros: "I like that the seats are thinner without a lot of padding. It gives more leg room. I like that my knees aren't hitting that seat in front of me. That crew was very nice."
Cons: "I don't like having to pay extra for my luggage. One bag should always be free and extra bags should be paid for. Paying for water is bad too. Water is cheap. People would buy a snack if they get free water. The fold down tray is also too small."
Pros: "Crew was polite and helpful. Boarding wasn't horrible."
Cons: "Flight arrived early but then was delayed on the runway at the arrival airport due to a gate not being available. Sat in landed plane for 45 min. Seats are uncomfortable for taller people. Lost baggage on way out; the corporate office is polite and helpful but keeps referring me to the local airports where they don't have any information on my claim given to corporate and constantly give me incorrect emails to try and resolve the issue, very poor communication."
Pros: "There were quiet babies on the flight."
Cons: "It took longer than usual to board and the staff kept going back and forth about going through the safety proceedures."
Pros: "The no-frills (cheap) pricing."
Cons: "We had about a 3 hour delay with no explanation. The tickets told us to be there for boarding at the normal time though, so we were essentially threatened with missing the flight and had to hang out in the airport for several hours. The seats don't lie back at all, and the airline is very basic. Then again, you get what you pay for and we were expecting that."
Pros: "good ticket price point. pleasant crew"
Cons: "it was fine for me given the short length of the flight, but items to be aware of are: ALL beverages/food is charged, there is no wifi, video or music provided."
Pros: "Price, a non-stop route at a good times, friendly attendants and pilot."
Cons: "Paying extra for many things that are typically included (water, almost all seats, carry-ons), seats didn't recline and weren't comfortable if flight is long, no magazine to read."
Pros: "I was transported safely from point A to B. That's about it."
Cons: "Check-in was atrocious as we watched the clerks migrate from one crisis to the next, and no TSA pre-check. WAITING at every stage of the flight. You would think a one-way would be simple, but no. An hour at the departure terminal, delayed in-air, then sitting on the taxiway for an hour and a half at the destination, followed by more waiting at the gate. The pilot's excuses didn't help any, clearly trying to avoid an onboard riot for a flight in which we waited longer on the ground than we flew in the air. We checked the board afterward to see if any other airlines' flights were delayed--nope, only Frontier, every one. It's clear what happens. They pay the least possible expense for airport services, and are then the lowest priority at every stage of operations, resulting in delays at every phase of flight. The most frustrating flight I've ever had that didn't include actual incompetence or bad weather."
Cons: "It took over 45 minutes for luggage to show up"
Cons: "To pay for every bags"
Pros: "The lady at the desk to get my boarding pass was friendly and nice. And it went very smoothly. Crew on the plane was also friendly and nice. On both counts I would give a 5 star plus."
Cons: "Very tight seating. And not the most comfortable seats."
Pros: "I was so turned off by Frontier! The crew was rude to my fellow passengers and their customer service before boarding, during the flight, and after was terrible! Both ways, my flight was delayed and the pilot gave unrealistic timeframes for takeoff (we waited on the plane over an over before take-off both times) it was definitely not worth the price and I would encourage anyone not to book a frontier flight."
Cons: "I didn't like that you could not have a carry on and personal item but others did without paying."
Pros: "Pilot was nice"
Cons: "Very mean boarding lady in Denver!"
Pros: "The low cost of the ticket although I thought that it was comical that we had to actually "buy" a seat after we had paid for the ticket itself. Shouldn't the ticket we purchase include the seat we sit in???"
Cons: "The two hour delays each way."
Pros: "Non stop"
Pros: "The flight attendents were friendly!"
Cons: "I didn't like the fact that the chairs did not recline! That I was treated like garbage when I was Tryin to print my boarding pass, but once I pulled my military ID there whole attitude changed! There was no complementary beverage! All other air lines serve drinks free! Non alcoholic drinks should be free! This is the only airline that don't offer that service! I will never fly this airline again"
Cons: "The delay was announced two hours before departure, however, we were never told the reason. The last delay statement we received was for a 10:45 PM departure. In reality, we left at 12:15 AM. There was not enough help at the gate and the lack of information was quite frustrating."
Cons: "I didn't know I had to pay for a carry-on bag upon arrival. That's an additional $45 I didn't know about. There was a 4 hour delay and no clear explanation as to why. There was never an agent at the desk when people tried to ask. Our gate changed 3 times. Overall an awful experience and I will never be flying Frontier again."
Cons: "Charge $45+tax for ONE checked bag AND $40+tax for a CARRY ON!?! I'll be sharing this fact with Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, FourSquare and Yelp. I'm never flying Frontier again and I'll be telling everyone I know to avoid them as well."
Pros: "Direct flught"
Cons: "Self check in/boarding pass printers would have been nice, waited forever in line to do that because I don't own a printer.."
Pros: "I got to my destination an hour late, but they did keep us informed of what was happening."
Cons: "while the cost of the flight was the least expensive, You need to pay close attention to the baggage policy. when I went to check in online, it was $40 for a carry on bag (laptop and purse that can sit below your seat are free). $35 for a checked bag, so to check one bag and carry on one it was an additional $75. For a weekend where you don't need any suitcase, it might be a good option, for a week or two stay you will end up spending a lot on baggage and there won't be any savings."
Pros: "My wife required assistance as she had a broken hip a few months back. The crew were great in helping me with our carry-on bags and getting my wife seated."
Cons: "There wasn't anything to not like."
Cons: "This airline had no movies."
Cons: "Frontier is a third tier airline with service that is average at best. Everything from customer service to staff service was a little off. Make sure that youlook into total price before booking. Otherwise you will pay more than if you had taken a quality carrier"
Cons: "no amenities"
Pros: "Plane was clean crew was friendly"
Cons: "Seats are terrible."
Cons: "The Spirit's seats look like punishment."
Pros: "My flight wasn’t delayed"
Cons: "Everything, I would not willing fly spirit"
Cons: "The flight was delayed and not even announced at the terminal."
Cons: "Ramp agents put the wrong bags on the plane which delayed flight"
Cons: "1. Flight was delayed multiple times,. Was supposed to leave at 10:17AM and didn't leave until 2:30PM. 2. I was directed to different gates by Spirit employees who should have known (or should have known how to find out) where the new gate was. Very confusing. 3. Flight crew told us that our plane was continuing on to Denver (my final destination.) After the other passengers had exited, a flight attendant made an announcement that we had to vacate the plane due to the crew change. I exited the plane. While I was in the airport restroom, the gate attendant made a garbled announcement that my flight was shifting gates. When I got back to the gate, the attendant told me that we were on a new plane leaving from a different gate. I had to run from gate 34 to gate 18, and was the last one to board. It would have been better we were told to go to the new gate before we exited."
Pros: "Not one thing. Besides they got they destination right. The staff hate they’re jobs. Everyone involved in this spirit airlines besides the pilots was in a bad mood.. I really liked how they waited till literally the last min an said your bag that you have used on your 8,564 previous flights to date. Is now 65$ to put in the same exact spot you were going to put your bag to begin with.. the same bag I’ve used for a shade under two decades of travel."
Cons: "You don’t have a box big enough for that. Bought ticket day in advance with insurance for this reason. checked in several hours in advance itenary machine could not print duplicate messed up several people days with not putting us on our flight. An then charging me 100$ more to secure the seat on the next flight. When all they had to do was print the item ready. I had meetings scheduled days in advance I missed that were worth 50x this entire ticket. An the airline doesn’t even know who it is that sells the insurance.? That’s a strait up scam.. worst airline in years. From the experience an the staff all the way around I was embarrassed to say I used this airline. If I had to guess on anything I think it’s close to being the next airline to hit the scrap yard. No one in this air line is committed to they’re work. I’ve always said “ Experience is the best teacher in anything”. An I’ve learned enough from this one...."
Cons: "Need shorter lay overs. The plane was very dirty. And interior is in need of repairs"
Cons: "Customer service is the worst. I called to modify my flight because lax traffic, after a myriad of options which included a 20hr flight (3hr non stop is what I had) or driving to Vegas to catch a 17hr flight, I was told “well at least your ticket was cheap” by their customer service agent. Worst airline out there, do not use them. On my flight to lax I see how they conveniently charge you less for your bags at the ticketing area where you have no way to check how big your bag is because there isn’t a receptacle like most airlines have to check them. So if you take the chance of your bag being considered a personal item vs a carry on (that costs $55) then you will surely find that receptacle at the actual gate to check your bag where they will charge you $100 no matter what. Perfect setup for the revenue they need."
Pros: "The crew was nice and the boarding was simple"
Cons: "Not very comfortable, $50 for a bag is crazy. No complimentary snacks."
Pros: "Our flight attendants were great. They took care of us doting on our daughter and checking in frequently. We had a great time the plane was clean and overall for the price I feel like we received a great deal"
Cons: "Not that we can think of."
Pros: "I like that I didn’t have to drive to Pennsylvania. Lol Spirit will only be good for business flights and short trips with only a personal item to carry to make it cost effective."
Cons: "I am only 5’3” and 120lbs and I felt cramped in my seat. The seats didn’t even recline 2 inches. After charges for a bag each way, and choosing my seat each way, I didn’t even get a complimentary beverage."
Cons: "I came to LGA airport as Spirit airlines suggested time wise. Security line was moving slow. Made it to the gate 10 min before departure, there were already 6 passengers standing by the counter begging to be allowed on the flight since the security line 'snail' speed was to blame. One girl was already all red in her face from crying, another gentleman was taking pictures of the Spirit plane just sitting on our gate. He was posting it to the social media to leave his comments of how ridiculous all this ordeal was. We asked , explained, begged to be allowed on our purchased flight, but employees at the gate (for 1:30pm flight to Dallas, on Sunday March 25th) would not hear any of it. They were all ' politely' saying 'would you like to be put on our next flight to Dallas this Tuesday?' ( you are freaking kidding me I thought). Our plane just sat there for at least 15 more minutes. We were all watching it and couldn't believe this. We all could have already been inside of it. I fly American Airlines all the time, I've seen them allow customers on board even after the passenger list is printed at the gate. They allowed me also one time to be let in at the flight once the gate door was closed ( I had a quick connection in ORD and it was hard to make it on the other end of that airport). I should have flown with American Airlines again instead of Spirit. Spirits' cheap prices are not worth the hassle. Even one airport security employ commented how she 'hates Spirit airlines,' which really alerted me at the time, but now I completely get it. Oh, and I had checked luggage to Dallas, I paid for it on Spirit website. I regret every single dollar I gave them for this trip. All of my family, and friends I've informed of this, are staying away from Spirit Airlines from now on. And we travel at least once a month. I'm afraid we will not do business with Spirit airlines again."
Pros: "The price was nice and the crew friendly."
Cons: "It was pretty cramped"
Cons: "i booked the flight with flight network com - and unfortunately due to being ill, missed my departing flight. I call both flight network and spirit to relate I wanted to re-schedule, but wanted to keep my departure date. Both companies stated that because I missed my flight, I was not even able to use my return flight, which I had paid for. It is terrible that I could not even use my return flight. Regardless of missing my departure flight, I should not be punished in not being able to use my return flight! Ridiculous policy!"
Cons: "no notification that the flight was cancelled until I got to the airport; even then it was not listed on the board and had to go back through security and back to the ticket desk for them to tell me. They gave me no alternative but a refund, basically stranding me at the airport to get another flight. They hurriedly put it on the board, and then told me that the flight was cancelled due to the hurricane that they knew about at least 48 hours before, but still told me the flight was on time 12 hours before it was due to leave. Terrible customer service! Did not even offer to find an alternative for me! No help at all. This airline should not even be offered by you. I booked in March for a September flight because it fit into my itinerary, however the flight times changed dramatically 4 weeks after I booked which became a hardship as well. No one should ever book this airline...it's so called super saver only baits you, then charges $45 for a carry on and at least $6-8 for a seat, I can't say enough about how terrible this airline is. Everything from start to finish was awful."
Cons: "The cramped, close seats, the attitude of some of the flight attendants, it cost me more to fly Spirit and I couldn't even get a cup of coffee unless I paid $2.00 for a 4 oz cup. I WILL NOT fly Spirit ever again."
Pros: "An airport attendant, Alfonso, was wonderfully helpful and friendly. He took good care of me, as I was needing wheelchair assistance."
Cons: "When we arrived, I needed wheelchair assistance. I was picked up on the gangplank, and taken to the gate across from our arrival and LEFT THERE. No offers of help after that. I had a 3 hour layover, and finally Alfonso asked if I needed additional assistance. No one else was I interested in helping me get to food or a restroom. During the course of my layover, I heard over 6 flights have gate changes. Ours also was changed...at the time we should've been boarding. No explanation or apology for inconvenience. And again, I was LEFT THERE with no assistance. I finally flagged someone down to get a wheelchair and take me to the new gate, where I was LEFT AGAIN. I finally got up and walked to a restroom in my own (in great pain). The info for our flight remained on the screen at the old gate, with no mention of a gate change, and the new gate had NO information posted about our flight anywhere...which led to a great deal of confusion, chaos, and angry patrons. The gate change also caused us to board 30 min late. The Spirit employees were hard to find (laughing and hanging out in a closed-off area behind the desk). They were not friendly, helpful, or even understanding about the situation. I asked to be the last one on the plane (needing wheelchair assistance), and was told no, with no kindness or explanation. The flight attendants on this flight were not any better than the ines in the flight before...only w/o the funny commentary. And, another long flight with no entertainment, comfort, or friendly assistance. When we arrived at DFW, there were storms (that would've been avoided if we had left Orlando in time) that kept us in a holding pattern for an hour and a half ON TOP of a two and a half hour flight. The flight attendants used this time as a way to make MORE money for the airline by charging money for any food/drinks during this time...even water. We were on that cramped plane for 5 HOURS and were still having to pay for water. This was one of my WORST airline experiences in over 40 years of flying."
Pros: "Great crew! Got off a little late but got to Dallas just about on time."
Pros: "I book my flight last minute going back and forth on which airline to choose, read so many mixed reviews. Well just say the staff to and from Vegas were great, professional and friendly. Our flights were on time, we even got back 30 minutes early. I brought my own food and drinks from what I could hear they are bit pricey. The seats can be uncomfortable I suggest paying the extra for the more roomier seats. Overall I enjoyed the Sprint, I read all the terms repeatly and if you comply you shouldn't have to pay extra fees for luggage. I would use Sprint again!"
Pros: "It was a mistake to fly with Spirit!!!!! It was a nightmare in every aspect!!!! No, there was NOTHING that I like. I hated it. NEVER FLY SPIRIT AGAIN."
Cons: "They charged for EVERYTHING!!!! It's pathetic. The flight kept delaying. It was a chaos at the gate. Passengers were confused about which gate we were supposed to be at. My flight was about 3 h delay. Instead of serving us complimentary beverage due to delay, they charged us (even water.) They tried to charge for everything. Check in at a gate would cost $10! Who does that? Never heard that before in my life. A bag would cost over $60 if you check in at the gate. They charged for every single little thing. Disgusting!!!! I almost felt victimized flying their airline. (The seats were small.) I heard one passenger said "My first time flying Spirit. It will be my last time too." I said "Amen!" I WILL NEVER FLY SPIRIT AGAIN!!!! NEVER!!!!"
Pros: "Spacious Quick boarding Pilot communication was clear Courteous staff"
Cons: "Seats don't recline"
Pros: "Good price; friendly at the counters"
Cons: "very cramped seating, no recline available in seats which made for long trip."
Pros: "the Price of the ticket is low."
Cons: "You also need to buy water in spirit airlines which is pathetic."
Cons: "The flight was delayed 2 times, which lead to the pilot unable to fly due to being over his hours - so he cancelled the flight. The next flight was 24 hours later and my return flight was 9 hours after that, so I had to cancel. One woman took charge and did an okay job keeping angry Texans organized, but it was a general cluster of angry, late, sweaty, nervous people - and the pilot who caused it ran fast and far after making his announcement."
Pros: "Nothing. We were treated like Idiots."
Cons: "They wanted to charge for everything we had, including the purse that my companion was carrying. I found out later that our backpacks and purse were under their posted "Guidelines." When she told us that the baggage fees would be almost $400 for the two of us, I said "You are insane." and we rented a car and drove 15 hours instead... with car rental and gas and hotel, we still spent less than the baggage fees! When I called Spirit to complain. I was told that the gate agent was trying to overcharge us, but that there was nothing that could be done. They would not refund the cost of the tickets (Only $144) or offer any travel credit. I will never use Spirit Air"
Cons: "TERRIBLE SERVICE!! The flight was delayed @ Phoenix. Flight was supposed to leave at 12 55 am and it finally departed until 2:23 am. The representatives @ Phoenix told us we wouldn't have ANY issues with our connecting flight to FLL as they would use the same aircraft When we landed Dallas, they told us our flight to FLL was waiting for us which was a complete LIE. The representatives at Dallas were disengaged and didn't seem to look for options to get us out of there,. Finally, a representative came and told us we had 2 options: OPTION 1: Stay in Dallas 31 HOURS!! and take the next flight to FLL (no hotel arrangements were offered) or take the next flight to Orlando and move ground to FLL. Very disappointed with your service. NEVER FLYING ON SPIRIT AGAIN"
Cons: "Spirit airlines is PATHETIC. I got to Phx airport to catch a flight to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) at 2 am. At 1230 am they told me it was cancelled. I asked why and they said "we don't know." They put me on a flight with another airline at 5 am to FLL for free so I didn't mind so much, mistakes happen. When I went to catch my FLL>PHX 4 days later they said they had no flight for me. When I asked why, after showing my itinerary ($320 round trip), they said I was a no show to my first flight. After explaining what happened they said "oh they accidentally cancelled the wrong flight then because you don't have a FLL>PHX flight but you will be reimbursed half the $320. After buying the next FIVE HUNDRED DOLLAR ONE WAY FLIGHT (I'm military and needed to be back the next day) and getting back to PHX finally, I called spirit to ask what their explanation was. They said "you were displayed as a no show and you will not be receiving a refund." I payed $320 to NEVER get on one single spirit airline plane. Find a new airline"
Pros: "I slept while onboard through both legs. I didn't want to be awake for the flight after the booking expirences."
Cons: "On the outbound leg from Dallas I volunteered to move seats for weight and balance reasons at Spirit's request. My return leg was canceled by the gate agent or the system had me as a no show. I tried to check in for the return leg and was unable. I called to get this resolved and got a CSA that didn't understand airline travel or English not sure which. (One example was I spelled my confirmation code 5 times both phonetically and in plain language) I tried to explain that my return leg was cancel for some reason when I volunteered for the seat adjust on the outbound leg. She continued to ask me to book and make a new reservation. I asked for a supervisor and received no help. Decided the best course of action was to hang up and try to get someone else. After navigating the voice prompts again I finally got someone who asked me for proof I was on the outbound. I informed him no one saves the boarding passes he needs to check the manifest the TSA requires of all airlines. He backed off after he understood that I knew the system and reactivated my return leg. It is still a mystery to me why my return leg was canceled after the airline requested me to move seats. It seems Spirit have saved money on front line employee training and saved a good bit on off shore CSA call center. Last time I'll fly Spirit and I'm posting it everywhere I can. I'll see you on the internet. Spirit Airlines-HC6N2Q"
Pros: "NOTHING I LIKED.. Never even completed- the flight booking to even have a chance to try-fly them... I flew another airline with NO hassles. Yeah.... I WASTED my money by not flying, but I'm getting my 380.00+ worth here and NOT having more frustration with this POS company."
Cons: "I tried getting on their web site to "pre pay" for my ONE carry one and I NEVER could receive an email after registering on their web site to Pre Pay 3 TIMES. I was SO FRECKIN' frustrated that I could NEVER get thru on line. IF I had payed for the carry on at the gate it was going to be a-NOTHER 100.00 EACH WAY and a-NOTHER fee for a seat upgrade-Isle Woo Hoooo... an i-s-l-e seat. I WAS SO PISSED ABOUT THEIR "NO USER FRIENDLY -SOMETHING AWESOME IS HAPPPENING" PROCESS, I BOOKED ON ANOTHER AIRLINE. AAAnnndnNNNd it was CHEAPER than it would have been if I had continued to pay for a FRECKIN' CARRY ON EACH WAY with Spirit. After reading all the negative reviews on line... AFTER ...I bought my ticket, I decided it was worth the money to buy another ticket on a different airline and NOT have the hassles I experienced trying to pay for ONE carry on All caps.. YEAH .. I'm PRETTY PISSED. Lesson learned and it cost a pretty penny, but I'm getting my moneys worth here and now. Save you money and fly with someone else.. It'll be cheaper in the long run and I won't possibly "stroke out" with frustration trying to make arrangements."
Pros: "Nothing--there is literally nothing to like about this airline. They display a cheaper fare than other airlines and call it their "Bare Fare" but you better not pack more than a small backpack otherwise you end up paying double the ticket price in services charges and baggage fees!"
Cons: "Spirit's endless amounts of extra hidden costs and ridiculous baggage fees meant that I ended up paying just as much for my airfare as I did to 1) check my bags, 2) print my boarding pass and 3) pay for the hidden services charges to do all of the above at the gate (instead of predicting exactly how many luggage/carry-on items and their exact weight over five months in advance of my trip, when I initially purchased my ticket online). You'll have to purchase water on the plane if you get thirsty. I would not be the least bit surprised if Spirit started charging a fee to use the bathroom on the plane! AVOID THIS AIRLINE if you need to check a bag, or if your carry-on is larger than a small backpack and/or purse! Plus, the interior of their new fleet has decreased space between rows so you have less legroom than ever (I'm 5'5" and 125 lbs--I had no room to move). And the final straw for me: I paid a premium price for a flight that left AFTER 9:00 AM. Less than 48 hours before departure, Spirit changed our flight to 6:05 AM; a time I had specifically filtered out of my options when searching for a flight! And no, there was absolutely no refund or apologies for the inconvenience."
Pros: "At the time of purchase, I liked the price."
Cons: "1. They offer no way to reach a live customer service representative via phone. 2. They are the only airline I've used in the US that charges for carry on bags. This makes the cheap fair no longer the cheapest fair. 3. After running late and unable to check in online, or reach customer service, the people at the ticket counter would not ticket my flight 25 minutes before boarding and charged $100 to rebook the next day. 4. They offer no complementary drinks/snacks 5. Their seats are small, uncomfortable, and DO NOT RECLINE!"
Pros: "On time, price of ticket, swift boarding, expedient arrival at my destination, friendly crew. I do want to add the experience that my nephew and his 4-year old son had on their Spirit flight a few days earlier than mine. My grandnephew did not know where to exit after landing. This was his first airplane ride. He walked straight down the aisle with everyone else, but instead of making a left turn towards the door, he walked straight ahead and right into the cockpit, much to his father's chagrin. Rather than admonish him, the pilot kindly introduced himself and gave Jacob a tour of the cockpit. :-D These days, not too many pilots will do this, so I want to say Thank-you for making my grandnephew's first airplane ride so memorable. <3"
Cons: "It was quite stressful not to exceed the 40# limit. My poor Fitbit scale had no idea who was standing on it (over and over again), ultimately labeling me as a Guest. Just as well; I really did not want such a number registered on my Fitbit online account. The seats were unsurprisingly not very cushy, but for a 2-3 hour flight, it wasn't so bad. After landing and as we approached the terminal to disembark, for whatever reason the pilot slammed on the brakes, causing all passengers to lurch forward violently, as did the luggage in the cargo hold based on the awful sound coming from underneath my feet. Immediately afterwards, the jet made a right turn towards the terminal. Thankful that this happened on the ground and not while still in the air! No luggage was harmed in the sudden stop."
Cons: "The flight was delayed nearly 5 hours due to mechanical problems. As an early morning flight, the mechanical issues were known in advance--the plane did not arrive as scheduled the night before--yet passengers were not notified until check in at the airport. We could have made other arrangements (or slept until a normal hour) if we had been promptly notified. The gate agents were not understanding, and no accommodation--such as complimentary soft drinks--was made for our inconvenience. I felt like Spirit wasted my day."
Pros: "I didn't like anything."
Cons: "The flight attendants were very rude. I asked for the manager's name and one of the attendants actually said if I want to know his/her name, I would need to go outside. I purchased the flight specifically for the inexpensive price only to be told there will be a charge of $100.00 for my carry on bag. The rude male attendant advised that it is written in fine print, which I did not see because I purchased from a third party company. I travel frequently and I have never heard of such rules. Then again, I have never traveled with Spirit nor will I ever again!!! You get what you pay for."
Pros: "Boarding and exiting were somewhat rapid. Got my bag rapidly at Lax. But...."
Cons: "This is the worst carrier I have ever flown. I will never never fly them again. I'm not sure what there business model is: "fly us once, then you'll know to never fly us again?" Are there ever repeat spirit customers? So strange. I get the bare fare concept, but who flys with no luggage at at? The nit picking things. Money for this, money for that. I just sucks. If you read this, save yourself the trouble. I flew them once, will never again. It was so terrible and uncomfortable I don't have the time to list out all of the shortcoming. I would avoid them at all costs, you can always drive."
Pros: "I got on the flight eventually and made it home to Dallas."
Cons: "The crew was extremely rude. My flight was delayed and I received many notifications notifying me of the time change. I arrived with plenty of time to get through security for the new time of the flight. When checking in however the crew told me that I had missed my flight. The plane had not left, the doors weren't closed, and the flight hadn't even boarded. I was devastated. They said I couldn't get a refund and there was no way they could let me board, I needed to arrive an hour early before the original time not the new time. Eventually I was able to speak with a manager after 4 other people arrived with the same issue trying to get on the flight, and I got on the plane. The ticket agent that I initially spoke to was incredibly rude though and had no compassion, nor did she even attempt to do anything to help me. Will not be flying spirit again."
Pros: "I took the flight from Boston to Dallas. Because of the extreme weather in Dallas, the plane was not allowed to land in Dallas, which occurred to all the other airlines. However, spirit is the worst to deal with the issue. They flied is us to Houston at around 6:00pm and kept us waiting in the gate for the reopen airport although they already knew the flight got cancelled. There was not clear announcement about their plans. Finally, I got information from other passengers, they provided two options: either refund or take their compliment bus to Dallas. l decided to take the bus. Again, no announcement of where and when the bus would arrive. After 3hr, two buses arrived, but not enough seats for all the passengers. I did not get in and waited for the next round of buses. Until midnight, the buses still had not arrived. I gave up and stayed the hotel near the airport instead. However, AA airlines already sent four buses to take care of their passengers efficiently before 11:00pm"
Cons: "We prepaid luggage on-line and the check in at counter still took 30 minutes because employee at counter couldn't see proof on her end that we had pre paid. We traveled with our three kids under 8 and they would do nothing to seat us next to each other. We couldn't check in on-line so we were considered late check in, despite checking in at the airport 2 hours before the flight. We boarded and sat on the plane for an hour then deplaned due to faulty weather radar. 3 hour delay. Still no help to seat our family together. Very swaying and bumpy take off and landing. Seats don't recline. No drinks or snacks passed out, only for a charge. Cheapest airline ever. Will never fly again on Spirit. Flight home also delayed over an hour. Oh, and luggage max is 40, not 50 lbs., and they charge per bag per direction. They also charge you to book seats next to each other, despite us booking our flights months in advance and checking in 2 hours prior."
Pros: "The price, the expediency."
Cons: "That they nickel-and-dime customers so that they get that low price point. That drinks (water!) cost. That the fee to check a bag increased for the return trip. That there's only 1 carry-on allowed. That Spirit isn't allowed to send mobile boarding passes to your phone. That Spirit isn't allowed to do TSA pre-check. That I would have had to make an account with them, including handing over lots of personal info, just to check in online. Really the whole trip I was thinking I should have paid $20 more and gone with an airline I like. I will next time."
Pros: "Cheap--but time is not worth that savings"
Cons: "Flight was hours and hours late, with multiple flights cancelled before all piled into this one. Worse, poor communication alerted us flight was late, then after we delayed leaving for airport accordingly a new message said flight was on time after all. On arrival at airport, flight was indeed late--but more than two hours later than originally stated. Poor relatives had to pick up my son at arrival airport at 1:00 in the morning. We will never, ever, fly your airline again, and will tell everyone how unhappy we were with trying to save a little money with you."
Cons: "They nickel and dime you for EVERYTHING!!! Every literal thing is a charge and they feel as it's OK to do that. Why would they drop the maximum weight to 40 pounds for your checked bag and still charge you for your carry on bag? They lost a fee customers with this flight experience. Not only will I never fly again with spirit air a bunch of my family won't either. And they need to train their staff of customer service and being polite. Better yet they should do the people a justice and close down the airline all together"
Pros: "Horrible. Filthy seats and plane. Was told "get off plane and fly with another airline if you don't like it" several times by attendant just for asking for something to clean seat and floor with myself. Then I was thrown off for objecting to such disrespect ful treatment. I will pay triple, double, quadruple to fly with another airline from now on. This airline and its employees are beyond rude and disrespectful. Do not go anywhere near this company. I was warned not to fly with them and I thought it could not be so bad. It was 100 times worse!!!"
Pros: "I got there and back, albeit not on time"
Cons: "This airline is a joke. They advertise low prices to entice you to buy flights from them, then they've got you. The fees and charges to actually complete your trip are OUTRAGEOUS. My family and I began making jokes about all the fees, just to keep our sanity. I had initially booked us on American but switched it to Spirit because I thought I was saving $400. In the end, I spent 20% more flying Spirit We almost missed our return flight. After overly scolding us for cutting it so close, the lady at the ticket counter did everything possible to cause us to miss it. We sprinted to the gate where we were again chastised for not being earlier. Of course once we boarded, we sat there at the gate for over an hour due to maintenance issues. We concluded that they call the airline Spirit because they break your spirit if you fly this airline."
Pros: "That I arrived safely"
Cons: "Seats - no recline position. I'm not claustrophobic but that flight made me feel like it. Boarding was a zoo... 3 flights from the same area. No space to stand or sit. Stewardesses walking with shoes that made loud noise and vibration every time they passed by. I was hoping to sleep during this claustrophobic and uncomfortable flight but they're loud walking woke me up 3 times. Finally, do we really need to make 15 announcements that no one cares about during the flight? Just get us there safely ... I don't need to know the weather and cruising altitude in 3 different announcements ... Also waking me up during this painful experience. Worst of all... I feel like my comments will never make a difference because you appeal to thise customers who will go through pain just to save a little on air fare. However that's not me."
Pros: "As I sit here and think about it the only good thing was I loaded in zone one. Seriously!"
Cons: "I really felt like I was flying on "Soul Plane!." I wish I were exaggerating but I am not. This organization needs to work on quite a few things. I think the CEO or company president should go on Undercover Boss and maybe then he will see how horrible Spirit Airline really is! And I haven't even started to talk about the tardiness of the majority of flights. And the gate attendants don't think it's important to relay that message to the waiting passengers when they found out. And I felt sorry for the elderly people that just sat waiting for assistance getting off the plane. It looked as though this staff had never been through training how to handle these situations. And your tickets are not really cheap with all your hidden fees! It's ok, you fooled me once. But I be damn if I ever fly your airline again after my return trip! This was totally unacceptable and I will let all my military friends and family know not to ever fly Spirit Airline unless you're looking for the worse flying experience of your life!"
Pros: "Plane was clean and the crew was friendly and professional. Spirit refunded part of my ticket when my connecting flight was cancelled."
Cons: "After flying Spirit Airlines for the first time, I came to realize a cheap flight doesn't save you money in the long run. Flight delays, cancellations, and added costs meant I didn't save any money flying with Spirit. I booked a flight from Cleveland to Denver with a lay over in Dallas. My lay over in Dallas was canceled due to weather. I understand that the airline doesn't have any control over the weather but they can control how they treat their customers. The best Spirit could do was offer me a flight to my final destination 21/2 days later. Meaning I would be stuck in Dallas for 2 days and I would have to pay for a hotel out of pocket. I ended up paying for a hotel overnight ($171) and booking a flight first thing in the morning with Frontier airlines ($89). Coming back, once again there was problems in Dallas during my lay over. The flight was delayed 3 hours."
Cons: "The crew on my first flight were very accommodating and friendly, but on my second flight they were NOT so friendly and everyone around me was talking about how rude and unfriendly they were. This was my first time flying on Spirit and I asked for a pillow and the response I received from the Flight Attendant was "What!....we don't have pillows" Another reason I was unhappy was because on my connecting flight from Texas to Chicago we were delayed on the plane and NOBODY told us what the problem was and why we were not moving to the runway. After 42 minutes we were told "we are waiting for paperwork from Maintenance" that is it! Not how long they expect the wait to be or come around and offer us some drinks or snacks. The Flight Attendants DID NOT even walk the aisle....not even once! We finally took off after 75 minute delay. It was if we were on the plane alone...this is not how I would have handled the situation. I also obtained the Spirit credit card to rack up some miles, but not I am giving it a second thought!"
Cons: "Late flight. Delayed flight on and then delayed again... unable to tell us when the flight would take off.. unable to rebook flight to the next morning... Airport reported that plane was broken and required a part from JFK airport and that they did not know when that part would arrive...and once it arrived they had no idea how long it would take to fix that plane. Then approaching the new 3 hour and 40 minute delayed flight time, we ended up switching gates to a different plane anyway. the plane got into Dallas around 330AM which was difficult to make arrangements for transportation upon arrival. Would not fly again."
