When we got to our final destination our luggage did not make it with us."

If I had known how slow the process was I would have opted to sleep in the airport so I got more than 3 hours of sleep."

Cons: "They told the lady with the service animal that she had to force her dog onto her lap. When she asked for bulkhead seating, they said it was already filled and paid for, and that she should have paid ahead of time. She pulled out a full printout of the rights and space required for service animals. They showed it to the captain, returned, and told her the law didn't matter, this was their policy. On Spirit Airlines, people with service animals are required to pay more than other customers, and are generally disrespected and mistreated."

They lost my friends snowboard and after promising to overnight it to him changed there minds and decided to fedex it which took an extra 4 days!! I will never fly this airline ever again. Honestly with all the baggage fees that they charge your better off spending the $30 to hop on a different airline."

Cons: "Everything else! You have to pay 45 for a carry on and 100 for a checked bag!? And if that isn't outrageous enough, you have to pay for a seat! Yes a seat! Your ticket purchase is nothing more than the beginning of fees and getting nickled and dimed everywhere. That was my first time flying Spirit and I will never do it again. I am United Club Card holder and only took this flight because it was so 'cheap' in reality I could have flown with United for less. That spirit stays in business is mind boggling unless their business model is to get every person to fly with them once, then they have a perfect strategy."

Cons: "Since it's a pay-for-what-you-get airline, they charge for basically everything. I felt they charged too much for carry-on and checked baggage. Boarding was also unorganized. The crew at the gate didn't allow enough time for each zone to board which resulted in a very long line at the gate, down the jet way, and on the plane. Finally, when our bags came in at the end, we were grouped with 2 other flights at the same baggage claim. It took far to long and caused lots of confusion with passengers from all flights."

Cons: "There was a passenger who was being very inconsiderate. She talked about everything from terrorist attacks on the plane (possible ones, hypothetical) to wiping your nose on other people. She made the flight very unpleasant. I suffer from anxiety, and because it was a busy day, it took a while for us to disembark, and her comments were making me anxious. Other than that, the flight was good."

Cons: "The low price of airfare is what attracted us to the flight. When they grab you with the low fare, little do you know how much you will have to add to that in fees. They charge extra for everything !! Beware!!! If you plan to take any bag, even a carry-on, there is an extra fee. You better pay for it at the same you book your flight because otherwise the fee goes up with each additional time period you wait. God forbid, you wait until You get to the airport!!! A carry-on was $55!!!! Then after the delayed flight finally arrives, you sit in the seat you either chose to pay extra for or you chose to take a chance and went with a free of charge random seat. I hope you're not tired because the seats don't recline at all. The flight attendants were kind enough, but the intercom speeches were inaudible. At that point it was beyond obnoxious! It was hilarious!!! Next comes the "food and beverage service". Water is $3.00. Need I continue? Needless to say, I will never fly Spirit again nor would I recommend it to ANYONE!!! Happy new year!!!"

I called spirit - 45 minutes call, I was told my credit card was not charged and that he would "uncheck me" so I could go online to redo in 1 hour. 2 hours later called (45 min call), Christine told me she would "uncheck me" and I would have to go online to redo check in in 1 - 2 hours, 3 hours later called (60 min), I was walked through recheck in online during the call."

Definitely NOT A welcoming feeling, or one that made me feel comfortable for my first trip (and last) with Spirit. Delays BOTH ways, and SEVERAL random gate changes. Further, why does KAYAK need to be the one to advise me of any delays? Spirit doesn't. The seats made my 6'0 190 pound frame feel like a magazine shoved in between several heavy books on a shelf -- I couldn't move; barely breathing. FWIW, this was NOT A $9 flight. THAT would be a lot easier to deal with."

Cons: "Where do I start... Let's start with the fees. 1. Checking a bag? Better pay for it when you book, and make sure it's under 40lb. Not 50lb like EVERYONE ELSE. Forty. And that carry-on? Unless it's the size of a laptop, you're paying for it too. Oh, you've got a small carry-on AND a personal item? Fork over the cheese, because only one of them is free. And if you don't pay for your luggage & carry-on when you book, the price jumps up when you check in online, and increases yet again if you check in at the kiosk. 2. Speaking of checking in, you might as well do it now if you plan to travel next summer. They close online check-in an hour before the scheduled flight time. 3. Hope you've got a printer during that check-in so you don't have to pay to print your boarding pass. It's $2 at the kiosk and $10 if an actual human agent has to expend the energy to hit the "print" button. I didn't have a printer, but I suppose the agent was having a good day because she printed it free of charge when I showed her the boarding pass on my phone. 4. If you didn't pick a seat during booking or check-in, congratulations on not wasting even more money. Surprisingly, it's absolutely free for a human agent to assign you a seat. Unless, of course, you choose to "upgrade" and snag a seat with extra wide arm rests. Just be aware that if you're traveling with a partner, you probably won't be sitting together if you go the free route. 5. While we're on the subject, I tried to be nice and move to an empty seat so a lady could sit with her husband, but the flight attendant wouldn't let me because the EMPTY SEAT was a $15 "upgrade." No thanks. I'll keep my $15 and stay in my normal seat with normal sized arm rests. 6. I actually shouldn't call them "normal" seats, because they are anything but normal. They don't recline, which was fine for my relatively short flight. But the "seat pocket" was a single bungee cord and the "tray table" was basically a paperweight not much larger than a deck of cards. But whatever, it's not like I actually needed to use it, because I also declined the offer to PURCHASE WATER. You'd think after a three hour delay, they could comp us a water, but I've been known to have outrageous ideas. 7. This is probably irrelevant, but during the taxi down towards the runway, both of my planes sounded like a dying manatee. 8. Due to circumstances out of my personal control, I was late getting to the airport for my return flight home. And by "late" I mean I showed up with 45 minutes to spare. The agent called to the gate to announce my tardiness, which was hilarious because they didn't mind making me wait 3 hours for my outbound flight a week earlier. 9. My tardiness and 50lb bag cost me a dollar less than I paid for the plane ticket. I tried to negotiate, explaining the terrible experience on the outbound flight, but the "manager" wouldn't approve a discounted bag fee. That is, after she finally showed up from being "MIA""

Cons: "Our son is a new Marine, we were flying him home from training for christmas. We had to pay an extra $104 on the day of his flight so he could take his Marine Corp uniforms on the plane! My husband is a Marine, most if the men in our family are military, this is the first time we have ever paid extra for military bags. We will NEVER fly Spirit again!"
Pros: "Not only are they the only U.S. Carrier not to allow bags for military members, it cost over $200 for baggage. Ridiculous. Worst airline ever and will never fly with them again."
Cons: "I checked in the day before my flight and saved the boarding passes on my phone, but apparently Spirit does not scan boarding passes. They then told me I was late checking in, even though I did the day before. They rushed me off to the gate, and had me initial a tag for my luggage saying it was because I was late checking in. I did so, and ran to my gate. I arrived in Fort Lauderdale, my destination, to find that they sent my luggage on a different flight. It was difficult for me to obtain the time my luggage would be arriving, and when I finally did, I had to make a special trip to pick it up (45 minute drive), because the delivery fee was $60 cash. I called customer service and got no where with them, as they defended their employees rather than apologizing for my dissatisfaction."
Cons: "My flight left at 0928 on December 22, 2015. I was waiting in line while the flight closed 45 minutes before the flight left. There was another flight but it was already booked and there was not another flight until the 25th of December. The airline was not trying to assist me in my problem. All they said was " It is to late, you will either have to wait until the 25th or I would have to buy another ticket."

It's a good thing that I checked in online because I paid $90 round trip for baggage fees plus every seat costs money on the plane ($5-$30). Airline attendants were not pleasant and seemed subpar. I wish I could say otherwise, but seats were uncomfortable and little to no room. I will never fly this airline again."

Cons: "The plane was late getting to San Diego to take me to Las Vegas about 20 minutes. Then the return flight to San Diego from Las Vegas was 42 minutes late and no one announced it. I get back to my email and saw I had emails regarding the lateness but the email I used was my work email. I will probably never fly them again - just not a good experience even with the "low Price" which after you figure the considerations it's not low."
