Spoiler: it isn't. I have NEVER had to pay extra for a carry on based on its value. I was tired and had been traveling since 3am. I asked for a Coffee to wake up and was informed that they are NOT complimentary. I asked what snacks or beverages they had that were complimentary and they informed me there were NONE. Zero. What? I only had cash on me (my card had been lost in traveling days before) and I asked if they would either let me pay cash or be willing to just this once offer me a free coffee. They flatly told me no. It is worth noting that I was kind and courteous throughout learning this. I didn't take any frustration out on the flight attendants. But I was deeply disappointed. I'm am exhausted traveler on your airline in a bind without my card. Can you please just be kind and offer me a coffee on the house? Nope. Sigh."

The flight to Philadelphia from Tampa was a good experience. They had first class lines. The airport was cleaner. The flight attendant Steve, was kind and professional. I was served a hot lunch. I'm a diabetic and when my blood sugar went low he got me orange juice quickly. I waited maybe 10 minutes for luggage at baggage claim. However with the horrific experience in Philadlephia I may never fly American again. Definitely will never fly out of Philadelphia again. I was told by the woman who I sat next to on the way home that she hates American and usually flys Delta for her business trips."

Comfort levels start diminish when you try to squeeze as many seats as you can into airplane. Especially, for people like me who are at least 6' tall. Also, the food was very meh. This was surprising because all my other experiences with ANA were quite the opposite."

The entertainment is down to direct tv with a menu that is hard to navigate, earplug connections that need you to hold the plug so it will work and no option to pause or start when you want."

Pros: "I liked the low fare I got to fly Spirit. This was my first time to fly on Spirit Airlines. The price was cheap, so I felt I got what I paid for. The seats were crowded and they didn't recline. I am short, so my legs were fine, but for anyone average height or more, it would be uncomfortable. But the flight attendants were friendly and for the price I paid, I would fly them again in a heartbeat."
Cons: "The flight was delayed by about 2 hours and after we boarded, we waited another 45 minutes before we took off."
Cons: "There so many monetary add ons that were not explained up front. My entire family felt we got ripped off and will NEVER fly with this airline again. Seriously, they charge $10 to CHECK IN!!!!!!!!! Never again! Wouldn't refund bags we didn't use. 'Oh you could have used that as a carry on'. Great, please change my baggage. Oh we can't do that. NOT ACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!!! How can they charge for something we didn't use!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Cons: "Extra fee for seat no matter where you sit. Extra fees for luggage. No peanuts or beverages. Seats do not recline. Seats are hard and uncomfortable. Tray tables are small."

Pros: "When we checked in at the airport Vicenzzo was very helpful with everything and the lady next who sat next to me, Naomi, was a pleasure to talk to. Other than that I can not say I enjoyed the flight at all."
Cons: "The seats were abusively small with no room to move around. There was no room to put your tray down. I could not even open my laptop all the way. The seats do not recline at all. You have to pay for everything.. even water... It is the most distasteful way to fly. I will do what I can to never fly on Spirit Airline again. I am irritated I have to fly home on this airline."

Cons: "My bag didn't arrive with my flight and they never called me (as they said they would) to say when the bag arrived. I had to call numerous times. Finally, when someone answered the phone, I learned my bag arrived."
Cons: "Folks....this was my first time flying on spirit and all I can say is never again! It all started a couple weeks before the actual trip when I called their customer service number (it's a toll number NOT 1-800) and come to find out their call center is located in Asia. Talk about a language and culture barrier. The individual on the phone was not able to help me out due to their lack of speaking basic English. The trip itself started with a cabin that was disgustingly dirty from the previous flight and yes you WILL get buckled and dimed for everything! Want a Coke? It will cost you 3$. Need a boarding pass? 5$ In fact, to be able to carry on a small average sized suitcase it cost 45$. Seriously! 45$ just to carry on a smal suitcase and that price is just one way! Do yourself a favor and fly with a legacy carrier instead Delta, American, or United). Spirit has horrible customer service, dirty airplanes, and thy will nickle and dime every possible dollar from you! That's all!"
Cons: "There were technical issues with the plane, they deplaned us, and then were trying to revive that engine. It didn't look good at all and we all were scared to go back to that broken plane. They restarted 3 times and engine wouldn't work properly. Finally they decided to switch planes. Why they didn't do that right away? Flight was scheduled for 9:36 pm and we started boarding for a second time around 11:10 pm - it's like almost 2 hours later. We take this short plane to save time, and yet wasting our time at the airport. Even though flight is short, its still need to have superior service and planes need to be inspected in the regular basis."

Cons: "Other than that they were completely unhelpful and unwilling to do anything to correct their situation. They told me I'd have to take a flight the following day from an airport an hour and a half away but were unwilling to provide transportation or a hotel. I had to buy another ticket on a different airline day of, which cost me an extra 300. I would highly recommend that no one ever fly Spirit Airlines. I was unaware of their reputation before booking, but since then everyone I have spoken with has said that they knew to never fly Spirit. Somehow I missed the memo."
Cons: "Someone took my window seat and wouldn't move. People next to me kept bumping into me repeatedly."

Cons: "i was unaware of the philosophy behind spirit airlines, and wish it was advertised when purchasing tickets. i chose a slightly cheaper flight, that included a long layover and difficult flying hours. if i had known that i would be billed for checking all baggage, i would have chosen another flight with convenience. also, not providing water to customers seems abusive."

Cons: "Everything was an absolute mess. The crew seemed like a bunch of college kids working for spirit through an internship program. The plane was inevitably delayed for two hours. Once we finally got on the plane, we have to wait another twenty minutes for the fuel truck to come fuel the plane. I'm surprised we even landed in the right state."
Pros: "The rate only! Seating was terrible. Uncomfortable seats and very cramped. I wouldn't be surprised if you would try to charge to use the restroom. For sure you people are not for the people."
Pros: "Excellent flight. Everything went great. Even got in 14 minutes early."
Pros: "The flight was on time and the crew was friendly. That's about the best you can hope for when flying Spirit."
Cons: "The seats are uncomfortable and a flight doesn't even include a cup of soda or peanuts. It cost over $80 to check one bag (more for a carry-on), even when checking in online and in advance (it would be $100 to do at the airport). Be sure to add that extra $100 to a ticket price when you're comparison shopping unless you can fit everything you need for your trip into a small backpack-sized personal item. Someone was sitting in my seat when I tried to board because he didn't like his, but that isn't the airline's fault."

Pros: "I fly Spirit with only a personal item and I get a random seat. For these reasons Spirit is perfect and cheap for me! We left on time and arrived 20 minutes early!"
Pros: "The aircraft was new and up to date. One of the flight attendants was very rude to you customers. Charging for WATER is reprehensible. Shame on your management for even considering that."
