Pros: "Our experience leaving tampa to San juan was absolutely perfect! We were starting our honeymoon and as a courtsey, the attendant who checked us in, was absolutely so sweet. She even upgarded us to even more space seats at no extra charge."
Cons: "The flight back to tampa from san juan was a complete nightmare! We arrived at the gate 15 minutes before and was extremely upset to find out that the gates were closed. The pilot and the attendants saw that we were banging on the door and yet they just stared at us. The plane wasnt detached from the terminal which is why I didnt understand why they couldnt let me in unless they sold my seat. An attendant finally came out by the name of Chanel (the AD Lead). All she did is rebook me for 2 days later and told me that that flight might get cancelled due to the hurricane. She wasn't even trying at all to help me. She had a rude attitude and told me that she will be back to help me. Yeah right! She came back 3 hours later! I could not stand to even look at this unprofessional employee. I paid extra to fly jetblue as I have been told they have great customer service. Pshhhh.... I myself had to call jetblue and spoke to melinda (customer service supervisor) she was trying everything in her power and it really showed. An attendant came and started checking the next flight out of puerto rico to ft. Lauderdale. Melinda put me on stand by for the flight and ecen spoke directly to the Natalie who was checking guests on the flight. Two seats came available for me and my husband to get back to florida. We then rented a car and drove 4 hours back to tampa. I was just completely disgusted on how Chanel handled the whole situation. I told her that I had medical treatments the next morning in tanpa that I could not miss but yet she did not at all seem to care. As a lead I thought she would at least put me on stand by to go to ft. Lauderdale. That wasnt even an option for Chanel. She was completely worthless and had a stupid look on her face when she saw me get on the plane to fy. Lauderdale. Something she could have helped me with instead of saying she would be right back and left me for 3 hours later with no help. Jetblue, I say this in the kindest of ways, please fire chanel. People like that will only cost you guys more in the future as you will loose so much clientel due to the unprofessional conduct and customer service she gave. Hire more Natalie's and Melindas who help you regardless of the situation and not Chanel who didnt care and was a bother to her to put in the same type of customer service that Melinda and Natalie gave me."

Your crew communicated this to your BOS office who sent 2 persons waiting for me at the gate to transfer me to the Hainan Airline terminal. I was also allowed to be the first to deplane. This level of service is superb and first rate."

Cons: "I booked KLM flights (Cork - Tampa return) but the planes were in fact Aer Lingus and Delta. So I have no idea what KLM is like. When I checked in at Cork the ground staff could only give me a boarding card for the first flight. For the second one she said I would have to go to the Delta counter in Amsterdam. It was difficult to find a counter there or staff as check-in was all by computer. The computer kept saying 'error' when I put in my code. I eventually was directed to a KLM desk (nicely hidden). I was told that my seat no longer existed. At this point the flight was ready to board. Thankfully the KLM ground staff were extremely helpful and reassuring and upgraded my ticket to economy comfort. On the way back, I could only get a boarding card for my first flight. The second two I had to collect at the boarding gate of the second flight."

They didn’t even bother to inform us of the change we only found out because we booked through Kayak and they let us know. Apparently Copa expects you to frequently check your booking just in case they’ve changed anything and don’t feel the need to inform their customers of any changes they make. Then we were told we could get a Copa voucher to use for other Copa flights for having to cancel our booking and rebook with another airline as a 48 hour change to our flight made flying with Copa not doable for us. But the website kept telling us we had a voucher that was sent to our email but despite repeated attempts it never came through. And spent hours trying to get through to someone on the phone to sort it out with no success ever getting through. My advice. NEVER EVER FLY WITH COPA."

I was on a 7 hour flight having to try and avoid the smell. I had to attempt to eat food trying to avoid that smell. The person in front of my seat was able to smell the body odor and urine. He also warned me about the urine in the seat that I was aware of but at least he cared unlike that caretaker. If not fot that experience my flight would have been much better."

Since the armrest had two femal plugs in it then I assumed that the headphone required the two male plugs. That didn’t work. It wasn’t until much later that I tried the single plug from the headphone but that only worked when jiggling it around to make it connect properly. Would have preferred one of the new systems that allow you to stream a movie of your own choice to your own device."

Apparently the airline doesn't only double book seats on flights, but on Gates on arrival and departure as well? Aside from this particular gripe, the crews were pleasant and the airfare was a relative bargain, so all in all not a bad option IMO."

Pros: "I liked how accommodating the staff was with seating for my family, as I was traveling with two young children and we weren't seated together. There was more leg room than most other domestic air travel companies I have been on. There was no upgrade charge for every little thing, such as blankets, pillows, etc. We were fed on each flight, and alcoholic beverages were at no additional charge. The exit tax to leave Costa Rica was included in our ticket, which I was not aware of until I was leaving the country. (nice surprise). Over all, most other airline companies in the USA have made changes that improve their bottom line, but they have completely ruined any favorable aspect of traveling with their airline (American Airlines, Frontier, Southwest, Delta, etc). Copa has done a great job of providing great service and cost for travelers. Please do not change your business strategy by removing some of the above mentioned benefits I enjoyed in order to improve your profit margin. It is refreshing to know there are still air carriers out there that retain the service that is hoped for by most travelers. Also, Roxana and her entire flight crew were outstanding. Thank you , I will fly with you anytime I have the chance."

Cons: "I was denied entry into Panama through immigration because of a past criminal record. I was detained for 9 hours with no food, water, or access to my belongings. I was unaware of what was happening, as I haven't had a criminal history for many years and wasn't informed upon purchasing this ticket that this would be a problem. I was sent back to San Francisco. This has interfered with other travel plans and tickets that have already been purchased once I reached my final destination of Bogota, Columbia. I need to reach Quito, Ecuador by March 21st and I'm now back in San Francisco extremely disappointed."
Cons: "The ticket counter in Managua is unlawfully closing flights when overbooked and telling passengers they were late. Then they charged change of ticket costs for next day flight and did not provide overnight stay. They filled up flight then all agents leave counter so passengers have no one to check in. Then they came back and said it was too late and flight was closed and passenger’s fault. Then they said because bilked through Kayak/Justfly, they said next flight was not available and had to leave on last flight out of Managua the following day. This is unlawful and outrageous activity."
Pros: "This was a nice experience for a fairly typical airline. Meaning, not Emirates, Qantas, or the others that are supposed to be top-notch. To be fair, I haven't flown them, I'm just thinking of things I've heard and read. The seat was fine and typical as far as leg room and reclining goes. The food was what you'd expect on an airline (it was fine, but I don't despise airline food). The crew though, was wonderful. Really. Friendly, welcoming...I bothered one attendant a couple times for more water as I was very thirsty, and then asked for a beer after the beverage service was over. Often flight attendants will act as if you're demanding a foot massage or something, but this particular guy was very nice. All of the crew that I interacted with was just lovely."

Cons: "went to the airport to checkin for my flight from lax to panama, with a connecting flight to sao paulo, only to be told that because i didn't select a seat when i bought my ticket over 2 months prior, the airlines sold my seat (they overbooked the flight by 5 people or so). i had to wait at lax for the next flight, which wasn't until 8 hours later. the problem here was that i had bought a ticket to get to rio from sao paulo, and this delay made me miss that flight. so i had to buy another ticket, which was $175. i was only compensated a $400 voucher for missing the flight and for my time. not worth it. the airlines only provide you with a blanket. no pillow."
Pros: "The people were friendly and professional. Everything was as expected. The ticket cost was about 200.00 more dollars than the other discount carriers but they did not include any baggage. When I compared apples to apples and looked at the 2 bags I wanted to check the price was within 20 dollars ant the Copa flight was at a better time. The Copa flights had food service and the meal was good, chicken and pasta. Would it have been worth 10.00 at the airport? Yes it would have been. 1 meal each way would more than make up the difference. All in all the flight worked out to be at a better time with friendlier service and an equal or better value for my total cost. The flights were on time. Nicely done."

Our flight from Panama City, Panama to Boston, MA USA was cancelled due to snow. Not the Copa fault; however, rebooking the flight from Santiago back through Panama to Boston was very difficult even though we call the day prior after noticing the cancelled flight on the Copa website. We were successful; however, it took multiple calls and multiple delays on hold to make it happen. No e-mail confirmation was ever received; however, we were able to confirm the flight via the website. We were also unable to confirm the flight status on the website. Maybe it was a special flight or something, but from the customers view, it was discomforting."

Here's the problem.. when I went to check for the Cali to LAX flight the gate agent informed me that because I failed to check in for the flight to Cali. That that cancels the entire ticket. I was forced to purchase an entire new ticket to fly back to LAX"
Cons: "I've flown Copa many times before and it's generally good for low-cost price but this time was horrible, probably because our first time with new baby. First, there was unexpected shock of having to pay $300 at gate for ticket for the baby, even though she is 4 months and sat on my lap the whole time. Never heard of charging for that and we had to pay % of roundtrip ticket cost right there and then. Second, they don't allow early boarding for families with small children. Third, and finally, on the trip back they also suddenly announced a "no checking boxes policy" which I had also never heard of. We had to take a baby swing out of its box, dismantle it, and carry on a large part of it. A total hassle and crew was not very understanding. Definitely think twice about flying Copa if you have kids."

Pros: "Total failure deception! I was denied access to the flight because of going into Peru they said I had to have a round-trip ticket and Copa would not let me on board. I was told this and after standing in line for over an hour waiting to check in at almost midnight in LAX. I spent hours on line I spent hours on the phone trying to recoup the situation. they wanted to charge me $325 to make changes plus other expenses of the airfare. I missed important connections in Peru. I am applying for a retirement visa there I should've been allowed to deal with immigration in Peru . However if it is the regulation of that airline that I'm not allowed in there without a round-trip ticket why did kayak sell it to me? Kayak cost me $539 and change not to mention a week and a half late getting to Peru! Customer service was just pretty much ridiculous I spent a lot of time on hold so somebody could go ask somebody who Ask somebody else a question. I could understand no refund however that was just downright not fair kayak and Copa airline basically screwed me over."

The staff in Chicago told me they couldn't promise to get me food to Quito, Ecuador, but that they had put in the request for my returning flights. When returning, I spoke with the staff in Ecuador & come to find out that no request was ever put in. There were only notes of my initial inquiry about requesting vegan meals. Fortunately, the staff was great and were able to get me a vegan meal and told me that they put in a request for my connecting flight. When getting to the gate for my connecting flight the following day, the staff tells me that there is no request for a vegan meal. They were great and were able to get me one, but it was a bit annoying to have to keep dealing with the same issue on all four flights, especially, when I had spoken with someone prior to my 1st flight."

When we finally reached the front an hour had gone by and the customer service rep then said we must have an exit flight from Guyana to get our boarding pass. This is the first we'd heard of this although we had researched visa requirements, etc for Guyana. We stepped out of line and quickly booked a flight on our phone, but when we tried to jump back in again the attendant made us wait in line again (a shorter one, but not smart considering the time crunch at that point. Finally we got to the front again and the attendant was very slow about entering our information. Then suddenly she calmly noted, "oh, it's too late to check you in, you can't make this flight." ... We were upset to say the least and after pestering her further about a reimbursement she said we would have to wait until she dealt with all the other customers (a long line of an hour or more) and that she couldn't put us on the next few flights because they were full. Finally she let us borrow her phone so that WE could call customer service and try to deal with it. They of course gave us the run around and we still don't have a reimbursement and will likely never book with Copa airlines again. Hopefully after a few more phone calls we can eventually get reimbursed. :("

Cons: "The airport in Panama closed due to a storm as we were about to land. We diverted to Columbia. When we got there and we were not aloud off the plane. We were stuck on the plane for 2+ hours. We were offered a small cup of soda and that was it. They turned the air off too so it got hot quick. When we finally landed in Panama it was a clusterfuck. No one there knew which gate the flight to São Paulo was leaving from or when. They sent us back and forth between three different gates before we finally got on a plane. No one seems to know where to send us or what to tell us....total confusion. We were waiting in the Panama airport for over 2 hrs before we left to São Paulo. I'm amazed my luggage made it to my destination. Over all, with the storm and delay at Panama airport my flight delay was 5-6 hours turning my 13 hr flight to São Paulo into a 22 hr trip."

There was one flight attendant by the name of Robert R. who was aggressive and simply disrespectful. He seems like others to not to respect Caribbean people. On that basis, it really makes me question the value of spending money to fly on an airline when the flight is unpleasant. Copa as an airline is a great airline and certainly among the best in the Americas. Your flight attendant attitudes will make or break you."

That way, when you call the next section, the people in the back are not blocking people as they enter. An alternative is to call people in sections based on where they sit in a row. If you have window seat, you should be called first. Why? Because so many passengers who have aisle seats have to get up to let people with middle or window seats get in. So, they hold traffic up as people are trying to get to their seats. After window seat passengers get called, then call middle seat passengers, and last, call aisle seat passengers."

The crew were nice enough but disinterested in serving us and were annoyed when I asked for a few crackers or bread to help with a stomach ache. Never got any. I had to get up several times to ask for water. Comfort was ok and plane was warm enough. There was several people who came and sat down next to me in the open seat, 6 or 7 different people who left their own seats elsewhere on the plane and came to sit next to me in the open seat. One woman brought her child over, asked me to love another seat over, so her child could lay down and put his feet in my lap. Then, when Inledt for the ladies room, she left him there to kick the seat in front of him and throw his tuna fish sandwich pieces on me and on the floor. I never agreed to play nanny to her child and after I'd paid $750 for a one way ticket from TPA to AMS, I didn't think I should have to. The mother gave me an earful of her bad language when I asked her to take care of her own child and take him and his fishy tuna sandwich back to his own designated seat. I had asked a male flight attendant to handle the situation, neither he nor the other staff, who stood by, cared that it was disturbing me, or that the other passengers were playing musical chairs with empty seats all night. I have flown British Air more than 100 times in my life. For 35 years it was my go to airline for step up in quality, service and class. This time I could have flown several other airlines that would have been $379, $400, 547, 650 for the same flight TPA to London Gatwick then AMS, instead I opted to pay a little more and thought I'd get a little more. Not any more on British Air. Other passengers on the flight were rested when they arrived. Not me, I was tired and disappointed and kicking myself for paying more to fly British Air. This is sadly understandable, as all quality is down with alot of airlines. But it's particularly disappointing that I'm saying that about British Air after all these years. I have only complained one time to an airline over 30 years. This will be my second time. I plan to send this complaint to British Air and ask for a refund."
