The reply O gave before was meant for last leg of my flight from Tokyo on American Airlines to Dallas Forth Worth Intl.
Worst experience ever. My carry on was checked in and I had to carry all my electronics (laptop, etc) as if I was lost. No food. No proper AC. It was clearly stated that I have a carry on that I could bring with me and I wasn't allowed a carry on upon boarding. I flew many airlines (International and domestic airlines) and this by far is the worst experience I've had.
Pros: "The seat was comfortable for a change must be a different plane"
Cons: "It was hot on the plane and the gate situation was a disaster. So chaotic and stressful. So crowded. Asking people to take later flights. Sucked."
Pros: "Not much"
Cons: "Why no service in first class??? Cost cutting measure?"
Cons: "Flight crew was rude and unprofessional. Ran over my foot with a cart. Ran into my head when I was picking something up from the aisle and was unapologetic. Overall lack of service quality."
Cons: "I could not access the games the lady next to me, and others were playing. When I decided to watch movies the earphones were so small they kept falling out of my ears, and I am a small woman. It was a long flight from Tokyo to Dallas, and the lack of diversion became a major irritant."
Pros: "Crew was nice. Plane was clean."
Cons: "Seats could have been better and inflight entertainement missing"
Pros: "The meals on Japan Airlines (JAL) were delicious!"
Cons: "Fukuoka and Narita airports had terminals that weren’t connected by a train or even an indoor path. It was covered but it was cold in Narita and Fukuoka required a slow shuttle."
Pros: "The seats were very comfortable and the staff was friendly"
Cons: "The flight was delayed in arrival to Chicago, so we were delayed in departure."
Pros: "comfortable seating, lots of movie choices. food and drink selections were nice.Galley snack choices were underwhelming"
Cons: "Staff was fair, but nothing compared to the service on JAL from CA to Tokyo. Very loud throughout the flight pushing the drink cart through the 8 Business Class rows instead of just delivering drinks to the 32 people in the section. Once the initial food & beverage service was complete, the service practically disappeared unless i sought them out in the galley."
Cons: "Waited 3hrs to leave the runway"
Pros: "AA hired a stewardess from Taiwan who spoke to us in our language. She and her team all made sure our journey was comfortable."
Cons: "Boarded the flight before the pilot had been brought over to JFK from LGA, we sat on the jetway waiting for him to arrive for 45 minutes without the air on."
Pros: "Entertainment options are always a plus for long flights."
Cons: "On the flight to Japan, I was fortunate to not have anyone sit next to me, so I was comfortable. Can't say the same for the way back. I'm fairly petite, 5'2, small frame, and even I felt cramped in the seats. I can't imagine how it feels for bigger folks."
Pros: "I like that the flight left on time and arrived early at LAX."
Cons: "They ran out of breakfast. Seat configuration was 3-3-3 in economy and not 2-4-2 like on the JAL flight on the way to Japan. The level of professionalism is much higher on JAL in regards to the flight attendants than AA. The boarding process still needs a lot of work to be more organized (take a look at JAL as an example - they treat customers like kings and queens). Also, there was no way to get a seat assignment through the JAL website. That website looks and acts like it’s from the late 90s."
Pros: "flight time was very good, arrived early"
Cons: "Food options were even more deplorable than the last flight. Ate very little. Might go with ANA next time."
Pros: "I liked that we were given cookies with our drinks that was a nice touch. I also enjoyed that it was a very quick flight from Dallas to Cincinnati. Shout out to the crew members, they work really hard to help us feel comfortable."
Cons: "The sound of the turbo engine in the beginning made my head feel really dizzy, but the buzzing went away after a while. Other than that, I think that the tiny planes should still have some sort of entertainment, even if it's just a single movie playing for all to watch."
Pros: "The fact that the plane landed."
Cons: "American Airlines is running neck and neck with United, competing for the world’s worst airline. They have crammed so many seats onto their planes that I’m surprised it isn’t a health hazard. I was in an aisle seat and every time I started to fall asleep, someone going down the aisle slammed into me, making any sort of rest impossible. And the flight attendants had the typical U.S. flight attendant perma-rage, of course. I feel sorry for them, underpaid and overworked, but always p***ed off. Anerican Airlines needs to look at Emirates and other non-U.S. carriers to learn how to treat their passengers."
Cons: "Qantas would not let me upgrade at 24 hours into Business Class. They wanted me to buy a whole new ticket. All other international flights I take allow me to pay for an upgrade within 24 hours of the flight for around $2000."
Pros: "very friendly crews , nice entertainment selections and very reasonable fare. I enjoyed very clean and neat environment. I will fly again with this one."
Pros: "The flight crew were all very nice and attentive. The on-board entertainment kept me busy during my waking hours. I appreciated the complimentary blanket, pillow and earbuds."
Cons: "The quality of the food selections were ok but could have been better. The remote for the tv screen did not function well with the games. Also, the seats were very hard, sleep did not come easily."
Pros: "Current movie selections"
Cons: "The seats are cramped. They served the final meal very close to the actual landing. The legroom is not comfortable enough for an average size adult. i asked the attendant at the gate for a seat change but never heard back."
Pros: "New plane with shades on windows. Comfortable flight."
Pros: "The service and the food"
Cons: "Seats are on top of each other, very close space, too many people in that flight or should I say, too many seats for that short of space"
Pros: "The flight was quick once we took off!"
Cons: "I did not enjoy the long wait for the flight. It was delayed about 3 times, which put us back about 2 hours. T"
Pros: "Quick flight"
Cons: "seating too small."
Cons: "Seating ---- to tight"
Pros: "The plane landed on time."
Cons: "Beverage are limited, one of the crews was loud, the food was terrible. I made a reservation through japan airlines. If they do a codeshare, they should give the passengers equal advice."
Cons: "Prefer ANA to JetStar!"
Pros: "The crews were very kind to young people."
Pros: "Snacks, meals, movies"
Cons: "Too squishy Flight attendant didn't give us a card to fill out for customs. She just walked right by quickly without asking."
Pros: "Not much! The flight was smooth and without event."
Cons: "Originally, I was scheduled to take a JAL flight from NRT to DFW, but for some reason, American Airlines switched the service to their own aircraft and crew. If I would have known that beforehand, I would not have purchased my ticket through AA.com. During my original online booking, the screen said JAL service from NRT to DFW. Just about everything was bad about my American Airlines flight. I travel to and from America several times a year from Asia. Each time I travel, I swear I will never fly an American based airline for the trans-Pacific portion of my flight. My latest experience with American Airlines only reinforces that resolution. The in-cabin crew is (and I'm being nice) pathetic! They are veteran flight attendants and they look and act like they could care less about the customers on the flight. Frankly, I'm just downright disgusted with the service and personalities of the American crew's attitude. They act like they are old and tired, uninterested in quality service, and that we (the passengers) are an imposition upon their life. For example, mid-flight, I walk to the back of the airplane for something to drink, instead of assisting me they point to a "station" at the Emergency Exit door stocked with random drinks and snacks. While they are chit-chatting, looking at their smartphones and reading newspapers, books, and Kindle-type devices. That has never happened on an Asian-based airline flight. Another example, in-flight food service, the cabin crew members are waking people up to serve food and, instead of being gentle and cordial, they are rude and impatient. My 2 row mates were both Asian, and because of being awakened and the ambient noise in the aircraft, they could not hear what the flight attendant was asking. So, with a tone of impatience and disrespect, the flight attendant virtually shouted at them their choices for the meal. Whatever happened to the "customer is always right" or the "customer is king"? My renewed resolution: I will no longer fly American-based (because Delta is even worse) airlines to and from Asia. If needed, I will pay the higher fees and fares to fly anyone of a number of Asian-based carriers. It is worth it for the 24 hours it takes me to cross the Pacific. I am sick and tired of the begrudged and entitled attitude of the archaic cabin crews of American-based airlines."
Pros: "Very comfortable and enough drink service."
Cons: "AA charges extra for a lot of the economy seats which they claim are "premium" but do not warrant the excessive price tag."
Cons: "I bought tickets for JAL Japan Airlines but it was American Airlines !! If I know that when I buy tickets I don't buy it !! I will not buy tickets at KYAK anymore."
Pros: "The in flight entertainment consoles were nice with a great selection of recent movies, which was nice since the flight was 12 hours. The food was alright but nothing to write home about."
Cons: "The seating space was much more cramped than the JAL flight I took over to Japan. It was awkwardly close to your neighbor when getting adjusted with seat belts and such. This would have been OK for a shorter flight but a bit too close for comfort for a 12 hour one."
Pros: "Comfy and friendly. What's not to like up front?"
Pros: "Sears had more room than as medal, service and hospitality much improved over as. Dinner and breakfast were scrumptious and drink choices were abundant."
Pros: "I was one of the wheelchair passengers, obviously I was struggling and asked an attendant to help me with my carry on bag to be stowed in the bin above the seat. SHe said she can't because she will be greeting the passengers!!! Anotherattendant finally helped me but it is disconcerting to be received like that by one of the crew. I did get helped by Ms Gonzales getting off the plane , I am very grateful that despite the first unpleasant attendant, there was a nice one among the lot."
Cons: "I 'm not sure if this is the venue for my complaint. When we landed in DFW there were 13 passengers on wheelchairs but there were only 3pushers.. there were 2 of us that were left and abandoned for about 40 minutes, I finally had to leave my chair and push the other lady's chair through passport control. Finally one AirServ pusher helped us with our luggage through custom and then transfer. I got to my gate 3 and 1/2 hours after we landed."
Cons: "The flight attendants were rude and short. They were not welcoming and an attendant asked if I could "just pick the meat out" of the food considering I am a vegetarian. That is unacceptable and overall they just seemed annoyed that they were working on that flight and did NOT go beyond to make the 13+ hour flight comfortable."
Pros: "The friendly flight attendant."
Cons: "The flight was late boarding and leaving Dallas but we arrived on time. And the plane is very narrow. Two ladies with hips sitting next to each other can be uncomfortable."
Pros: "New airplain."
Cons: "As usual bad luggage handling in USA. At passport control, noticed that my luggage handle was removed half way but I had to re-check in the luggage and airline people did nothing about the handle with tag. And the luggage was lost. Can someone study how other country luggage handler care about customers ' luggage? Save your operation cost!"
Pros: "Rveything ok i noticed American keeps lights low for people rest unlike other airlines"
Cons: "Everything fine considering hours in plane also note passing out fooda all once jal toyko manila didnt like"
Pros: "- approachable staff - plane was insulated enough where I wasn't too cold - ample food options on flight"
Cons: "- plane was older and less comfortable - limited film selection - films only played at certain times so you had to wait in queue until the next showing started"
Pros: "Crew were accommodating. Not enough leg room."
Cons: "More elbow and leg room."
Pros: "Food, landing, departure. Wonderful aircraft"
Pros: "All the staff were very helpful, even having boarding passes ready for us for our Vancouver connection to Portland."
Cons: "I'm 6' 7", so for me, economy-class seats are usually the closest I come to being tortured. The food was just OK - not what I normally eat but I'm sure it's fine for others."
Cons: "The plane are old. The over head bends are smaller than any plane built recently. The enteratianment system has issues and the headphone noise comes out blurred (I overheard other people having the same problem), the staff is rude, the food was awful, and I was late arriving on both flights (we never left on time)."
Pros: "Just the in-flight movies"
Cons: "It was a 787 but any or all room was taken into cramming more seats. Food was the worse I've ever had on a long distance flight. Bland and despicable. This is the worse international flight as far as room or food. Requested for an exit row seat but was told it was an additional $125 charge. Really that's how Air Canada is getting business by giving customers a very poor experience. A group of four us traveled on this trip and we had the same consensus and won't be recommending Air Canada."
Cons: "Both myself and my other vegetarian friend never saw an option to opt into the vegetarian meal, leaving us on a super long flight across the pacific with nothing to eat."
Pros: "Very little was good. I got there safely and that's nice."
Cons: "They lost my luggage for eights days, haven't given me any compensation, every single flight was delayed and no seat upgrades or apologies were given. Never again."
Pros: "Had an empty middle seat between my window seat and my friend's aisle seat which was nice on such a long flight."
Cons: "This was my first intercontinental flight on Air Canada and I was surprised at how meager their meal and entertainment offerings were. Every other airline I've flown between North America and Asia gives bigger meals and more free entertainment to help pass the considerable flight time."
Cons: "There was a horrid family in the row in frony of me that absolutley refused to control their child at all, even when airline staff stepped in , so a really long flight was made to seem even longer and sleeping was out of the question."
Pros: "I appreciate the upgrade to the first class."
Cons: "Taking a bus for boarding"
Cons: "Would nice to have better and more movie choices"
Pros: "Nothing to complain"
Pros: "I liked the exit row leg room. Not a big fan of the dreamliner layout, but they were very affordable."
Cons: "There was a 12-year-old seated next to the exit door. They tried to exchange his seat with other people in the exit row, but no one agreed to it. However, there were various open seats in other rows, some with 2 empty seats side-by-side. It baffles me that he could not move to another row."
Pros: "Plane was nice and clean. Crew was pleasant and helpful."
Pros: "Non eventful flight"
Cons: "We departed late"
Cons: "Beware that baggage check closes 1 HOUR BEFORE TAKEOFF! They failed to mention this when I purchased tickets. Also we were unable to check in online (something wrong on the website), so we didn't know our boarding info. We also had a flight that was 30mins late. When we got to the check in counter the woman wouldn't do anything for us- wouldn't hold the flight, didn't attempt to help us catch our flight. We were told we could wait 48 hours for the next available seats. We signed up for that, and also waited on standby for 24 hours at Narita. Fortunately they were able to get us on a flight within 24 hours. We were not very happy that the key information that check in closes an hour before flights was not readily available or obvious. No emails or notices that I saw when scheduling flights. Just be aware. Everything else about the flight was fine."
Pros: "The movie options were good"
Cons: "Why does a vegan meal include butter and cheesecake? There was clearly a mistake but it seemed like the airline attendants were unfamiliar with what a vegan diet is. It really diminishes your confidence when they pass you another meal, you have no idea what ingredients are in it and simply have the trust the people that just passed you butter."
Pros: "The whole experience from boarding to landing was great. Zone 2 boarding is one of the first called and the premium economy section has larger seats that recline more and don't affect the person behind as much. Food was decent and serve on a ceramic plate with real silver wear. On demand entertainment was adequate with a number of recent titles and even audiobook options."
Cons: "The section was set up in a 2-3-2 seat configuration and I booked the middle 3, but were given 2 in the middle and one one the left aisle. One of the middle seats was left open for the pilot to come back and watch movies during the flight. When I asked the attendant if we could swap the left aisle with the "pilot's" the attendant made it seem like it was a bigger deal but eventually asked the pilot who said he didn't mind. After all, it was just changing one empty seat to the other side of the aisle."
Pros: "I love the new Boeing 787 planes! This was the smoothest flight ever, both from Vancouver to Tokyo and back again. The new planes have the dimmable windows, which are so cool! And, each seat has it's own screen with free movies, TV, flight info, etc. Also, the flights were on time!"
Pros: "The plane didn't crash."
Cons: "The trip took about 48 hours. After a cancelled flight I got no hotel discount. Several flights were delayed or cancelled and in the end I ended up just going to a city 3 hours from where I live and renting a car to drive home. My luggage still hasn't arrived. This was the worst, most stressful travel experience of my life."
Pros: "The staff was outstanding - pleasant and efficient."
Cons: "Entertainment: movie selection very limited."
Pros: "My flights went very smoothly with no delays. Flight attendants were receptive and attentive."
Pros: "Crew dealt with a lot of crabby people and a lot of languages very well"
Pros: "I flew roundtrip to Japan on Air Canada business class. Buying a ticket late, I noticed it was only $500 or so more for business class. We did have to touchdown in Canada coming and going, but short and efficient hops. On the way back, it probably saved time because we were cleared in Canada so arriving back in Philly was like a domestic flight. Great Food and service. The trip to Japan on their new Dreamliner business class featured an amazingly designed pod - super comfortable, lay flat for sleeping, But has good layout and table space if I had wanted to work on laptop. Thumbs up!"
Pros: "We got there safely."
Cons: "Seats were uncomfortable. Food was simple and bland. I was not allowed more than 2 alcoholic drinks on a 10 hr flight -- what is that?"
Pros: "The on board entertainment was phenomenal. My kids LOVED that they could connect and play games with each other. The gate agents in narita were the sweetest people I've come across in a long time."
Cons: "Air Canada is pretty dang snobby for the most part. Im not sure when a rule was instituted that headphones can't be worn under 10000 feet, but my three children were targeted many times about their headsets... on the ear, boring kid headsets... and there were THREE adults around us wearing similar headsets that were not bothered. I am a single mother of three tired children and we were settling in for a long flight and I found the treatment very unnecessary and discriminatory. The food was pretty awful, lol. We ordered kids meals and none of my kids ate on the flight."
Pros: "The flight was smooth and on time. For the most part crew was friendly."
Cons: "I'm 5'2" med. built and felt the seats cramped with little leg space. My seat had cold water dripping down onto my head and neck from the vent above the window. The flight attendant's response was "it will stop after a little bit". Disappointing."
Pros: "The entertainment choices were good."
Cons: "I had a very large man behind me and couldn't recline my seat an ounce therefore I couldn't sleep the entire flight. I think if your a certian size you should have to buy a seat with more room instead of make everyone else uncomfortable. The food was almost inedible, and there wasn't much more than chips or chocolate bars to pick up in That section of the Airport before flying out :( Entertainment choices were excellent though!"
Cons: "The flight attendant looked like she was drunk. The flight was overbooked and the boarding agent asked people to stay for a later flight. There was also a Air Canada crew member who looked like he was on standby for our flight, his last name was Campbell. Once we boarded the plane we noticed that the crew member had been given a seat on the plane, where a mother with three children that was also on standby had to stay for a later flight. Not sure how 1) you overbook a flight, and much less 2) give a seat to a crew member over a customer."
Pros: "I really enjoyed the number of in-flight entertainment options."
Cons: "There was an upset child that could not be calmed down."
Pros: "Nice friendly staff in the plane. Nice friendly staff at the airport, although very slow and getting confused easily. Need more training."
Cons: "Checkin process has to be SERIOUSLY reviewed and improved, especially for International travelers. Our boarding passes printed in Okinawa had to be REPRINTED in Tokyo for some reason, and we narrowly avoided a huge line to wait into because staff mistakenly made us wait in the WRONG lane. Note: on the way to Okinawa 2 weeks earlier, we had similar poor experience, but we only had to wait 5 min in the wrong lane. Overall ANA staff is very nice, friendly and smiling, but seems to get overwhelmed and confused very easily, and take FOREVER to do simple tasks that their US counterparts do 3x or 4x FASTER. --> do more regular TRAINING of your staff at airport counters !"
Pros: "Narita airport ground crew were very enthusiastic Air line crew were nice as well"
Cons: "Why Air canada sent me email that check in online but No information of eTA at all I didn't expect anything about eTA because They changed the system 5days before my booking without telling passengers so I applied eTA at check in counter of airgort They didn't accept my credit cards even after payment completely I still need to wait confirmation email that they take whithin 72hours I made my flight but I got 15minutes before flight time I ran air canada gate from departure gate with staff Air Canada was NOT kindness customers service except airport ground staff They helped me out to get my flight I am appreciate them"
Pros: "We had two different tickets, one on ANA and the other for Air Canada. The young lady at checkin linked them, checked our bags through Tokyo to Toronto AND got us boarding passes all the way. Without that help we would have missed our connection in Tokyo. Thanks SO much to ANA."
Pros: "I thought the overall service was very good. I like how well the crew communicated with the passengers and how smoothly everything went."
Cons: "The food (dinner: chicken with rice, breakfast: eggs) was ok, maybe even a little yummy, but could've been better (eggs where a bit too wet). I also felt like the movie selection was rather disappointing. A lot of not so great hollywood blockbusters."
Pros: "Small plane but very comfortable. This flight as well as the other 3 we were on were on time with a professional staff. 5 Stars for this Air Canada!"
Pros: "When we departed from Vancouver to Tokyo, we were pleasantly surprised by how courteous the airport staff and flight crew was, and by how roomy the seats were. Food wasn't outstanding, but better than other airlines we've been on for similar flights."
Cons: "Two of our three bags did not make it onto the plane, and the staff at Tokyo Narita, while apologetic, were not helpful. We had to press hard to get our bags back the next evening, instead of 2 days later. The onus was placed on us to keep receipts for replacement items that needed to be purchased in the interim, as well as to make the claim for reparation money on our return. Not even a complementary toiletry kit was offered, despite the fact that I reiterated that I had literally no clothes or toiletries at all in the one bag that arrived. Crew on our return flight was borderline rude, did not seem to take any care at all wheeling heavy carts down the aisles while people slept on a transpacific flight, banged them into my daughter many times."
Pros: "The food is horrible and movies not a lot of selection"
Cons: "The flight was delayed"
Pros: "Decent video selection, staff was pleasant."
Cons: "Maintenance issues rendered all three of my flights delayed on my trip back from Japan. Last delay was 3 hours behind :( Food selection was subpar even for airline food."
Pros: "-Staff was friendly and helpful. -The food is pretty good, and comes frequently enough -Cheap! -The flight was delayed, but at least Air Canada automatically rescheduled my next flight for me (which also ended up being delayed, but I'm happy this issue was resolved well before going through customs with a ticket for an airplane which had already begun boarding/departed)."
Cons: "-Air Canada baggage drop only open after 1pm -The aircraft was delayed, forcing my next flight from Toronto to have to be rescheduled. That flight was also delayed, so although I was supposed to be in Boston at 7:25, I arrived at around 11:25. All that extra time was spent waiting at Narita and Toronto. -Although I was seated next to a bathroom, I was at a window seat and thus had no good access to it for the whole 12 hour flight -- most of the time the way out was blocked by tray tables. Overall space was somewhat limited."
Pros: "The flight attendant."
Cons: "Toronto Terminal F is kind of how I envision a third-world country. At least at the higher-number gates, it's very dreary, with an occasional flying insect and signs hanging from the ceiling. Worse is the lack of air conditioning and the sporadic wi-fi service. Worst of all was the almost two-hour delay and changing our departure gate at least five times. Two fellow passengers (one a native of Toronto) said it was always like that. The trip from Toronto to London and back was fine, but I'll try very hard to avoid Air Canada and its Terminal F."
Cons: "The customer service when our flight to Boston (connection) was atrotious. I will never fly Air Canada again"
Pros: "A fine flight, considering how small the plane was."
Cons: "Boring food. Better than none at all, I suppose. I had the vegan option. Perhaps they are trying to discourage vegetarians from eating on the plane at all? It took half an hour on the phone to even arrange it."
Pros: "Good service, pleasant hosts."
Cons: "Bathroom ran out of seat cover. I ate well, but food had to be stopped (couldn't help it, as it was due to turbulence) Couldn't recline because in last row."
Pros: "My seat on my first leg coming back to New Tork from Tokyo to Toronto."
Cons: "I booked my flight 8 months in advance and pre ordered a vegetarian meal a week before leaving for my trip. They "forgot" one of my meals (breakfast meal) on my return flight home. Hey also gave me a tuna sandwich for my snack, which means they also didn not have a vegetarian sandwich for me in between my dinner and breakfast meals. It was the first time every traveling overseas that they've made an error with my meal plan after flying on multiple airlines. My connection was a nightmare as I had to wait to go through security and customs which took over an hour and then my second flight was delayed. I will never fly through Canada again from the U.S. To another destination country."
Pros: "Tickets are cheap"
Cons: "Poor food, rude crews, small seats"
Cons: "I was really upset that I found out the baggage handling broke my luggage even though I specifically marked fragile."
Cons: "Once again over an hour late due to maintenance issues. Air Canada uses a subcontractor airline for their Cincinnati flights that has a horrible track record. AVOID!"
Pros: "I liked the entertainment best I guess, it's very difficult to be comfortable in those horrible long flights. The crew was nice"
Cons: "So cramped, I know you want the highest profit margin possible but I don't appreciate spending 1800$ to feel like a prisoner. The food was barely food."
Pros: "Nice to be able to recharge mobile devices while seated."
Cons: "I made a round trip to Japan from Boston with Air Canada, flying out in mid-June and returning in the beginning of July, and I was rather disappointed to find that the choice of movies was more or less the same both ways, at least I did not see much change in new releases. I was expecting new movies to be added on my return flight from Japan since the month has changed from June to July but I did not find new movies, so I just read on my iPad. It would have also been nice if there was an option for inflight WiFi access."
Pros: "eventually getting home and the woman next to me with whom I was able to discuss our shared misery."
Cons: "Worst experience. My connecting flight I had originally booked was cancelled, leaving. me with a six hour layover. I had no desire to shop duty free and was tired from my previous flight so I went to the gate which my flight would eventually leave from. While standing, since seating was extremely limited, and sitting at this gate I observed that every flight was either delayed or cancelled. Employees milled about with their backs to passengers with little regard to those inconvenienced, they seemed to be completely clueless when asked simple questions. The Pearson Airport was the most disorganized and inconvenient airport I have ever had the misfortune to experience. The toilet on this flight was broken and we were only informed right before boarding, making the decision to go while I could I missed them saying they were going to take our carry on bags away from us to stow below. I had medicine and camera lenses and other items I was wary of leaving my possession and had to sit on the tarmac a few minutes to re-situate my personal items. I have no intentions of flying through Pearson ever again."
Pros: "Crew was good but being 6’4 and 300 lbs set was very small"
Cons: "Leg room and seat room"
Cons: "Food not great. Seats in economy cramped."
Pros: "Nice attentive crew"
Pros: "Movie choice"
Cons: "Man flight was rude for me reason"
Pros: "Updated plane. Seats were nice. Flight landed ahead of schedule"
Cons: "The new controls built into the armrests are HORRIBLE! You accidentally hit a button constantly because ITS AN ARM REST! Get the engineers building something to cover it up. We landed early and I was so excited to get a jump home. I then waited for 35 mins for my bags to appear on the conveyor AFTER walking all the way to the baggage claim from the gate. I arrived home later than I expected.....This is not the first time that the United baggage was so slow. This needs to be an improvement area."
Pros: "Service, Hospitality, food, & comfort."
Cons: "Need more Hindi movies selection."
Pros: "Aisle seat"
Cons: "Snack options"
Cons: "So it was annoying that the seat that was assigned to me..airline assigned that seat to someone else because that person asked for it. And nobody bothered to ask me( no email or call or anything) even though there were lot of empty seats. But the passenger was polite he moved to his original seat."
Pros: "We arrived earlier than expected."
Cons: "I noticed two flight attendants hand hot beverages without looking at you when they pass it to you. Its a bit dangerous, especially if it accidentally spills on you. The Japanese translating flight attendant for flight UA78 on 3/27/19 was gruff and rude in her tone of voice. She needs some help!"
Pros: "The UA crew from NRT to DEN met my (lowered) expectations. The best thing is the exceptional comfort afforded by the 787--it is hard to book any other aircraft if I have a choice! Going through immigration and customs at DEN is very efficient as well, and DEN makes a great connecting point."
Cons: "I wish the NRT-DEN service were offered by NH instead of UA!"
Pros: "Seats were comfortable"
Cons: "One flight attendant a little short with customers or maybe just dry humor, hard to tell. My daughter did not want to talk to him entire trip because of earlier altercation. It would be great if United could put in foot rests in economy and economy."
Cons: "I flew the first leg of my trip with ANA and the next leg with United and I certainly noticed a difference in terms of customer service. They are less friendly and seemed to have spent more time with a couple of passengers who appeared they know personally than the rest of the passengers."
Pros: "United was the worst airline."
Cons: "They did not have our special meal. They just say we forgot. They gave us leftover food from other flights."
Pros: "Enough food was provided."
Pros: "I love everything and ANA is so care about every details for customers. Food is good, service is good ,and thank you for the great time."
Cons: "I really really really very very hate United. everything about UA. worst service, worst cost, and everything."
Pros: "The ladies who were a part of the crew on this fight were great. They showed class and quality service"
Pros: "This was a United flight. Not ANA. The flight to Tokyo was ANA and was a very good, full service flight."
Cons: "United is a joke in Every way. The plane wasn't clean, food was gross, service was non-existent."
Pros: "I wasn't impressed by anything."
Cons: "Worst airline food I've ever had. I can eat anything, but this was absolutely repulsive. Bizarre movie selections. I've never been on a flight where there wasn't a single film I wanted to watch."
Pros: "The plane was run by ANA. It was super clean, the food was good and the attendants were great"
Cons: "It was the best economy flight I have ever had. Super."
Pros: "Plenty of room, great cabin service"
Cons: "Plane was way late, several gate changes had me chasing my tail in Chicago...and that is not a friendly airport for incoming international flights on a good day."
Cons: "When purchase we were told that this flight was operated by ANA airline and we got an ANA flight number, but turns out that it was United Airline and the service was much worse than ANA airline."
Pros: "Plenty of entertainment channels to keep you occupied and your mind away from the fact that you're flying United Airlines, a code-share flight, and that you're not actually on ANA. Bait and switch."
Cons: "99% of everything. United Airlines is horrendous. Truly dreadful in every way imaginable. An embarrassment to the USA's Airlines industry. Avoid."
Pros: "Gate crew was fine. Flight was smooth and on time, seating was reasonable. Food was just okay, but I don't have high expectations for airplane food."
Cons: "The English speaking flight attendant who announced various messages on the PA system, although a native English speaker, was horrible at speaking."
Pros: "The 787 dreamliner was such a fantastic aircraft, one of the best aircraft I've flown across the Pacific. Despite being delayed, the flight crew was so accommodating and helpful with getting us to our destination quickly and safely. I hope to fly this route again soon"
Pros: "Food was good"
Cons: "Boarding took forever Not enough overhead space"
Pros: "Punctual flight and not filled to last seat. Excellent amber beer.option, no extra charge for beer or wine. Crew members were friendly and eager to please. They were happy to supply extra snacks and coffee or water between regular service. Seat reservations were properly done (unlike a flight in June on Etihad)."
Cons: "In boarding, putting groups 3, 4, and 5 in the same line works poorly. Location of electric outlets needs better (i.e. some) documentation; had to ask crew. The heat fluctuated between too warm and too cold; had to put on and take off a fleece every 10-15 minutes. Chicken option for dinner rated spicy, so had to opt for pasta. No Asian options on flight from Japan; sad. So-so movie selection, controlling screen not very easy, screen often too dark. The list of movies in the United Magazine was incomplete and inaccurate. The size limits on carry-on bags and personal items was smaller than other airlines, unnecessarily so for the latter given the size of the space under the seat in front. United is inconveniencing customers without any justification."
Pros: "At least I could watch movies."
Cons: "After a long journey in Japan, flying United back to the U.S. was a rude awakening. Their crew has no regard for the manners or respect in Japanese society. I was sitting in an exit row aisle behind a restroom in economy. The staff kept bumping into me and my entertainment system as they tried to rush up and down the aisles. Really taking a breath and walking more slowly could have resolved this. At one point, the staff almost caught my arm between my seat and their rolly cart. The plane was old and in disrepair. My neighbor's entertainment system screen needed to be propped up with duct tape. The seats are stiff and uncomfortable, and the headrests are designed so that if you have a U head support, it will collide with the headrest and curve your back into a C. Some staff could use a refresher on basic Japanese. One flight attendant kept asking everyone "US Citizen or 日本語？" which means Japanese Language. Those are not mutually exclusive questions for many bilingual flyers. I usually tolerate airplane food, but this was the first meal I could not eat on a plane. It was eggs and hash browns, and it was so mushy and salty, I decided to pass. The bathrooms dirty quickly, and are a disappointment compared to the amenities provided on your basic Asian carrier. No toothbrush. No hand lotion. Just soap. We left Narita after 5 pm, and were served this weird dinner breakfast meal. Six hours later (of a 12 hour flight) it was about 11 pm in Tokyo, and 7 am in the destination city of Houston. Might as well get back to American schedules? I don't know, but when I was naturally getting tired and putting on my sleepmask and earplugs to get some rest, a rude flight attendant kept asking me if I wanted breakfast or orange juice, shoving items in front of me (with one hand, a no-no in Japanese culture), and repeatedly asking me despite me shaking my head no. I really don't know where they hired these people. My bag got held up by customs in Houston, and United transfered it to a third party courier service who tried to call me at 1 am to deliver it. That was a bit later than I expected, and I missed the call. The next day, I tried to call the driver, who hung up on me! I called their customer support, who was unable to contact the driver or the delivery service. Just who did they hand my bags to? Thankfully, after an 18 hour wait, I got my bags back, but it was a stressful wait. Throw a dart at a list of Asian airlines, they're all better than United."
Pros: "The flight got us back home alive."
Cons: "mechanical delays in Tokyo with only fair communication especially after we were in the plane."
Pros: "I am not a big fan of United Airlines, but this flight was surprisingly good"
Pros: "Seat 7 A on this type of aircraft - and United's configuration - had the most leg room and space, esp. when the seat next to you is empty. The flight crew was friendly and great!"
Cons: "Boarding gates/ area in Denver airport for these small aircraft was almost as bad as a bus station! Crowded and most cramped/ uncomfortable. Denver United staff at customer service center was most unhelpful, unsympathetic and dismissive about the fact that in spite of a flight delay that completely their fault (no weather delay), which made me miss the memorial service for my friend's daughter - my main purpose for visiting Cincinnati - they refused to even give me a patient hearing much less consider my request to try and put me on a different flight!"
Cons: "The plane was so old that it just seemed like it should be retired. My flight was also delayed 45 minutes. They made passengers get off the plane because of a weight restriction it was absurd that my luggage took 40 minutes to come off the plane"
Cons: "The space in the seat, too narrow, difficult to to strenghten feet. Also the bathroom already smelly, I understand that but needs to have freshener."
Pros: "Not a damn thing apart from getting off the flight"
Cons: "The fact that i was ripped off, by flying United and not ANA. I have flown UNITED 7 Times now and i wanted ANA just to get away from UNITED, and i get UNITED again!!! Total rip off"
Pros: "The fact that I actually arrived"
Cons: "Original flight was cancelled. Had a crappy middle seat because the rebooked flight was over booked. New layover time was an hour and a half longer than the original. And THEN, the flight was delayed for 4 HOURS PLUS. different reasons were given for the flight delay each time. Gate staff didn't really seem to care. Horrible horrible experience."
Pros: "The entertainment was okay although the controls were having some issues since they weren't working properly"
Cons: "The unfriendliness of some of the crew. We were given ice cream and it came with a wood spoon however I am allergic to wood utensils and asked one of the crew members if they could provide me with a plastic spoon or a plastic fork and he just ignored me and I had to go all the way in the back to ask to another crew member for a plastic utensil."
Pros: "Flight was on time and the staff was nice."
Cons: "My chairs audio jack did not work, so I could not listen to anything for my 11 hour flight from narita to newark."
Pros: "Cabin arrangement and chair configuration."
Cons: "Although acceptable, service on United is nowhere near the quality of service on ANA."
Cons: "United airlines was generally uncomfortable and had bad food"
Cons: "The crew we had was not real accommodating IMO. They passed by me for dinner and breakfast and I had to get up and go ask for my meals. Not very service oriented. The crew from Chicago to Hong Kong on Jan 16 was fantastic in contrast."
Pros: "Very friendly staff! Hello's and goodbye's and asked if anyone needed anything several times"
Pros: "Due to being late to the airport I didn't get on the flight however the staff was very courteous and rerouted me"
Pros: "It got me back to the USA"
Cons: "Everything associated with United Airlines: bad food, wifi that didn't work, filthy restrooms, old plane, etc."
Pros: "I am surprised by the strong attitude and the rude way of treating the passengers by the personnel of the airline"
Cons: "Was not able to pick my food choice as I was sitting in the back rows even though I paid the same amount for the ticket as the person who sat 20 rows I. Front of me and could pick their prefer food"
Pros: "Everything except food"
Cons: "Food in seating"
Pros: "They sent me a text message telling me it was canceled"
Cons: "Unfortunately, despite the text message saying the flight was canceled, the ANA ground staff in Taipei that we talked to assured us it was not canceled. But it was. And so ensued 24 uncomfortable hours of pain. Thanks, United."
Pros: "It was comfortable for a 13 hour flight. Entertainment was good. Crew was nice."
Cons: "Food was gross except for the ham sandwich and the drinks were warm."
Cons: "After having several flights with international airlines while in Thailand for the last 2 weeks, it was quite a disappointment to spent 12 hours on this UA flight. There was a 6-8 hour period during our flight were flight attendants did not ask or even consider walking the isles and asking the passengers if they needed any water or anything else. During several flights in Thailand, the attendants were constantly catering to every passengers' needs. The difference between the flight attendants from Bangkok to Tokyo compared to Tokyo to DC was worlds apart. The Japanese attendants were as friendly as ever and took care of all the passengers needs. The flight attendants were flat out rude. There was once event on this flight that I could not believe. A child of 5-7 years old had to go to the restroom with his mother. The flight attendant was collecting trash from our meal. Even though she knew the child was behind her and needed to go to the restroom, she would not stop collecting trash, move her cart so that the boy and his mother could get to the restroom. Instead, she continued collecting trash and made the boy wait until she was done. I feel embarrassed for the foreigners who were on this flight and this was their first impression of America and Americans. The main meal that was served was a breaded chicken patty served with a slurry of questionable gravy, rice, and a roll. I received better food on multiple 1 hour flights while in Thailand. The comfort level was what you would expect from most American airlines-tight and cramped. I will never book with United for another international flight."
