FAQs - booking Kaua'i flights

  • What’s the best airport on the West Coast to fly to Kaua’i?

If you’re looking for the airport with the most options of airlines and you don’t mind the crowds, then Los Angeles International Airport is the best airport to fly from the West Coast to Kaua’i. However, if you prefer an airport that’s not as busy and that also offers regular flights to Kaua’i, then the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) is a better option. This airport has the additional benefit of being a hub for Delta and Alaska Airlines, which both operate regular flights to Kaua’i.

  • What’s the best airport in the San Francisco Bay Area to fly to Kaua’i?

If you want to beat the crowds of San Francisco International Airport and have the choice of flights operated by more than one airline, then the Oakland International Airport is the best option. Both Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines operate nonstop flights to Kaua’i from this airport. If you don't have an airline preference and would prefer to fly out of a smaller airport, then the San Jose International Airport (SJC) is the best decision. Keep in mind, though, that Oakland is closer to San Francisco than San Jose is, and easier to get there by car or public transportation.

  • Which airport in Phoenix do I choose to fly to Kaua’i?

If you want to fly nonstop to Kaua’i and don’t need many airline options, then consider the fact that American Airlines has regular flights from Phoenix International Airport (PHX). If you don’t mind one layover, you can choose a flight to Kaua’i from Phoenix International Airport on another airline, like Delta or United Airlines via San Francisco or Los Angeles. Flights from Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport (AZA) aren’t as frequent and usually involve two layovers, so this is not the most convenient airport.

  • Which airport in New York should I choose to fly to Kaua’i?

All flights to Kaua’i from New York take at least half a day of travel and require at least one layover. If you’re looking for the fewest layovers possible, you can fly out from John F. Kennedy Airport or Newark Liberty International (EWR). Flights from LaGuardia International Airport (LGA) usually have two layovers.

  • How long is the flight to Kaua'i?

An average nonstop flight from the United States to Kaua'i takes 10h 06m, covering a distance of 3501 miles. The most popular route is Los Angeles - Lihue with an average flight time of 5h 49m.

  • What is the cheapest flight to Kaua'i?

The cheapest ticket to Kaua'i from the United States found in the last 72 hours was $114. The most popular route is from Los Angeles to Lihue and the cheapest round-trip airline ticket found on this route in the last 72 hours was $281.

  • Which airlines fly to Kaua'i?

Hawaiian Airlines, Japan Airlines & United Airlines fly the most frequently from the United States to Kaua'i.

  • How does KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy?

KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool uses historical data to determine whether the price for a given destination and date is likely to change within 7 days, so travelers know whether to wait or book now.

Everything was fine within the parameters of flying full aircraft. My only small regret was that the non-meal, "snack" type food options had 90% medium to high sodium items. They looked appetizing, but many, if not most older Americans are restricted in sodium intake, so maybe one low/no sodium option would entice people to buy them. I brought my own food. The staff, on-time and aircraft quality were great, as usual for Alaska.

A little sub- par. Alaska used to be a good airline.

Quick flight and helpful crew both on the ground and in the air. Went super easy and fast.

Great service. Got in early into Seattle and everything went great.

only refreshments and biscuits available but it was a short flight from LAX to LAS thus it was fine.

Seat space Terrible. No real food on a 6 hour flight

entertainment (use your own hardware) was difficult and I don't like tiny tiny screens for movies. "we're locking the bathrooms" messge came as they locked them. how about a warning, e.g. we will lock bathrooms in 15 on our final approach...

Temperature was very cold. seat was uncomfortable bc headrest did not work properly - the earflaps would not move.

On check in, the agent would not accept the credit card that I booked the flight on to pay for a checked luggage. It had the agency name that I work for on it, but my flight was booked on it so it did not make sense. So I used my personal CC. Then they could not give me a receipt for the checked baggage, and directed me to go to Alaskaair.com and find my way around to print up a receipt for my expenses. Should have been a lot more customer friendly for something so simple.

It was filled with lots of delays and also onboarding delays that left a passenger next to me sick. Also, they miss labeled my bag for another passenger and temporarily lost my luggage.

Carly the flight attendant was extremely helpful and very accommodating to passengers on the flight from what I noticed. Couldn't be more satisfied with the service and assistance from Delta's flight attendant, Thanks again Carly!!

I didn’t not like that I could not select my seat and ended up with the worse seat.

I didn’t like that I could not select my seat and was assigned a seat when I checked in at LAX

Delta did an awful job w logistics at DTW. Missed connection. We were there an hour early. SUCKED

Inflight entertainment stopped working as we taxi to runway and never worked again until landing and taxi to gate. Grrrr

Had to run to make it only to have the flight delayed to wait for all the late connectors Second drink service skipped up

Boarding was a sh!t show. JFK BOARDING was awful. The agent called three sections at a time Clogging the area then yelling at people to not block the walk way. How are you going to call delta one , premium select and comfort plus at once and the yell at highest paying passengers. Need to do a lot better and the flight attendants in the galley need to understand that their voices travel. They were talking about others and everyone in the cabin heard them

Uncomfortable seats on 14 hour flight. Mediocre food. On time and great crew.

MSP to Atlanta was much better than Atlanta to St. Kitts. Paid $180 each for myself and wife for Delta comfort from Atlanta to St. Kitts. Seats were more narrow and obviously old and worn out. Tailbone is killing me. Seat would not recline. Seats behind reclined and we were not an exit row or in front of an exit row. Entertainment did not work in that the movie jumped forward and back and there was no audio. The plug in the arm rest was loose. Flight attendant tried “resetting” the video for my seat but no good. She never checked back. Someone else near me had the same issue. Touch screen was unresponsive. No where near as comfortable as MSP to Atlanta flight. 3 plus hrs. flight time without the basic amenities and not even remotely close to comfortable but paid for Comfort plus. I will be very disappointed if I have the same on my return “Comfort Plus” flight St. Kitts to Atlanta. At the very least my wife and I should be refunded for round trip “Comfort Plus” charges. Please feel free to contact me directly for more details.

public website still broken for years randomly blocking browsers with privacy options active after loading a page maybe once. check-in on laptop was almost impossible but eventually randomly worked. had to print pass at airport since couldn't get back in to load digital pass on mobile firefox or chrome. red eye flight so smooth onboarding, plenty of room to spread out, easy offboarding. onboard wifi instructions mention vpn can cause problems connecting but fails to also mention private dns. no printed or built in menu list, seems weird to require personal device to point at qr code link for menu which does not even allow direct ordering. people with health condition risk related dietary restrictions trying to avoid for example cholesterol and sugar are left guessing what they can order either way without nutritional info highlights (cranberry juice was minute maid cocktail with as much suger as typical can of soda). tap to pay wasn't working and always seems sketchy to manually enter card info. good movie variety, so limited tv was okay.

Seats on second leg from Hawaii to Tokyo would not recline. 9 hrs is long in total upright position.

Apparently the computer systems were down, so I wasn’t able to check in 24 hours in advance, despite multiple times on the app, the website, and by calling. Then I arrived at the airport and wasn’t assigned a seat right away. I had to wait until I was at the gate and waited about another hour for an agent. She was nice to give me a “free upgrade.“.

The crew worked to help us find standby seats and we were able to arrive at our destination early which was great. Only drawback is airport at Kona which is in need of update - waiting at gate passengers exposed to jet fumes, there’s only one restaurant with minimal choices, etc

Increased effort to keep family members (purchasing multiple tickets in the same transaction) sitting together. Additionally, when faced with choosing seats at the automated check-in kiosk, only exit row seats charging an additional $9 were available, but if you decline to choose seats, it picks seats that are NOT exit row. How does that work, Hawaiian?

It was wonderful. I have never flown Hawaiian Airlines, but I would definitely do it again. They were wonderful.

Check in process is a joke. When are they going to join the rest of the world and let you check in on your phone.

Workers need better attitudes. The check-in staff in Maui was very rude.

Zero leg room. No entertainment screen. USB ports which are way outdated. The plane landed and stopped in the domestic terminal and we had to go to the international terminal to find our luggage.

I finished with my medical appointment early on Oahu and the Hawaiian airlines staff helped me get an earlier flight back to the big island. It was a great experience. There was no food or entertainment that is why I gave it a good

Unable to check in on line both directions. After standing in line to check in at the Honolulu airport we were told that we needed an ag inspection first so ended up having to stand in line twice. Fortunately we always arrive early. Process could be more clearly marked

The flight experience was very good! Especially the United Club!

Overall it was good. The flight was bumpy at times, but the pilot made us aware every time. As a result, no snacks/drinks were made available. Seats were tight but that’s okay as I had a window seat.

Plane didn’t even make it off the ground. We all had to get off and walk to a different terminal (lots of confusion) to get on a different plane. Landed fairly late, connections missed.

the head jack on my seat didn't work and the power outlet didn't work for my seat

All good except paid for wifi that did not work

Left 2 hours later for delayed I had to take care a kid with special need since people don’t want to move to accommodate the rest of the family. . It wasn’t bad but that made me upset that people can be that selfish.

The crew were really great, but the 4 hour delay in small chunks was the worst.

They did get us booked on a later flight, but it made us miss our connecting flight. So, we had to stay and another state overnight with no luggage or clothes. Because they kept our luggage at airport for next flight on the next day.

The leg space between me and the seat in front of me was excellent.

That flight was smooth, and staff we courteous. it was a full flight so very tight. The boarding through security was not properly controlled. it was rushed and the scanning process for our bags, etc. was pilling up at the other end with no time to empty our belonging my personal items almost toppled over on the floor if i hadn't caught it rapidly. Was it just that time, or always like this - cant say. other than that all else was fine.

The flight was scheduled to depart DCA at 12:30 pm but was delayed twice on the ground so that we were finally scheduled to depart at around 4:00 pm. Once we boarded, it was announced that takeoff would be delayed again to fix a hydraulic problem which delayed our eventual takeoff until around 5:00 pm. Once we departed, it was a smooth flight back to ORD. We did not get any explanation about what caused the original significant delay. In my experience, this happens frequently with AA.

Plane was good but was delayed. probably not AA fault but caused a 1 hour delay. Seating was cramped.

Flight was good and arrived a little early. Very good.

Gossipy flight attendants talked the whole flight about bar hopping and dating.

Turbulence was bad and flight attendants gossiped about going to the bar and dating. Could have better awareness.

When we exited the plane our wheelchair wasn’t there. The Pilot and co pilot were so nice and helped us locate it. Great service.

Didn't like the 6 hour delay as it caused me to miss all of my connections. Still, I did get home safely 14 hours late but exhausted.

New ridiculous policy by american destroyed my allegiance to american. As a million miler with american, I expected it would be easy to get on an earlier flight when I got to airport earlier than expected, and save a five hour layover. WRONG. The online app would not let me switch flights, So I called, and was promised a call back in 90 minutes. HAH! The customer service desk at DCA said “we no longer have access to changing a flight on our screens. If the app couldn’t do it, I should send a letter to American, but there’s nothing else possible!”

Same basket of unhealthy prepackaged snacks (junk food) which was depleted by the time it got to my row!!

Lots of weather delays that were poorly communicated and managed. I get there are weather delays but they didn’t make it clear what was happening or comfortable on the plane
