Your guide to booking Praia flights

From booking to airport arrival, find tips to help you plan your flight with more confidence.
  • For the best chance at a low fare to Praia, aim to book around 7 weeks before you fly. That window historically saves about 29% versus last-minute pricing based on KAYAK booking data over the last 12 months.
  • For flights to Praia, recent KAYAK data shows that stronger deals tend to land around $751 round-trip. If you see a fare below that threshold, it's a strong deal – book before the price climbs back up.
  • If you can choose when to go, time your trip to Praia around March. Round-trip fares historically average $716 that month – typically the cheapest month to travel based on the last 12 months.
  • Before you book:

    • Check the route's typical price range so you can spot a deal.
    • Confirm baggage fees and seat-selection costs on budget carriers.
    • Verify whether you need any travel documents beyond ID.
    • Pick a departure airport, since your nearest may not be the cheapest origin.
  • Shift your departure to evening to save up to $496 per round-trip. Evening flights to Praia average $962 compared to $1,458 for morning flights. See the time-of-day chart above for the full breakdown.
  • Bag allowances vary by airline, fare type, cabin class and route. On flights to Praia, some airlines may include bags at no extra cost. For example, Cabo Verde Airlines includes a cabin bag in Economy Class. Always check the fare details before booking, since bag policies can change by ticket type.
  • When traveling to Praia, many Americans opt to fly out of John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and land at Nelson Mandela-Praia International Airport (RAI). JFK airport enjoys popularity since numerous reputable airlines that fly internationally from the US utilize it as their primary hub, fostering competitive pricing.
  • If you're traveling the JFK-RAI route, consider booking a hotel close to RAI Airport if your aircraft from the US is scheduled to arrive in Praia late. If you get to Praia at night, staying in one of the hotels close to RAI Airport will help to improve your safety in the city. The DEX Boutique Hotel, which is just about 10 minutes on foot from RAI Airport, is one of the closest hotels that visitors should consider booking a room at.

SLC This airport offers a wide range of specially tailored services for travelers with restricted mobility. For instance, parking slots at this airport are specifically designated for vehicles carrying disabled people.
  • The ideal area for travelers to unwind in airports as they wait for flights to various destinations is an airport lounge. Most American travelers on a limited travel budget choose to fly out of SLC if they wish to relax in an affordable airport lounge while traveling to Praia. Budget-conscious passengers can unwind at SLC's Delta Sky Club, which affordably provides quality lounge amenities.
  • The majority of Americans who travel to Praia from the northwest of the country prefer using Seattle-Tacoma International Airport as their departure airport. Excellent experience - from boarding through the super smooth flight The food was mediocre and the app could be better but overall great experience

This was one of the worst flights I have ever taken in my entire life. First of all, I traveled Economy, but the seats were TINY and cramped. Not just for me; everyone around me was complaining of the same thing and said they could not get comfortable. Then there was the issue of the heat. For whatever reason the heat on the plane must have been turned to FULL BLAST, because even at 30,000 feet, it was SWEALTERING. Everyone was drench in sweat. Then, they were SO STINGY with the amount of drink they would give you. If you asked for water, it was in a tiny, paper cup (think bathroom cup) and they only filled it 3/4s of the way as if the cost came right out of the pockets of the air stewards. Everything was a money grab, you could tell! You had to pay for the WiFi, which was garbage slow, and the onboard entertainment was limited and stale. If I EVER fly TAP again, it will not be Economy class. What a disaster!

They blocked me from checking in online and they charged me lots of money

Everything was good with Tap Air Portugal. It was Logan Airport that was a problem. The fuel system was down and delayed my 10:40 boarding. I wasn't able to board my flight until 2:00 am...after that my flights were great.

Not have my bag forced to be checked when I had a carry on included on my ticket. Staff was very rude to me for asking why they were doing this. I was told there was no more room for carry ons but there was plenty of space in the overhead compartments

The crew was excellent. What I did not enjoy was the food. I have taken many international flights and this was on the low end. Otherwise the trip was fine.

Seats were the most uncomfortable seats i ever experienced on a flight to Europe from Boston. It was a waist of money in buying premium seats for top dollars. I want my money back for what i paid extra for my seats. Awful conditions!

Boarding felt a little chaotic as everyone was waiting around the gate. Food was great, service was good.

Flight attendants in business class were rather indifferent While in second leg operated by Portugalia TAP subsidiary were outstanfy

The chicken was so dry it was impossible to eat. No substitute was offered. The port to charge my phone was broken and all I got was a shrug from the crew. The entertainment system was glitchy and subtitles didn’t load. Crew seemed fully uninterested and unfriendly.

Bumpy flight (lots of turbulence) but the pilot did great in letting us know ahead of time and flying through it. There was no food/beverage or entertainment available.

My flight from Toronto to PDL was one of the worst experiences of my travel history. I paid for an upgrade and did not receive it, and was also charged an exorbitant amount for a 25-inch bag, and when I tried to explain the situation, I was only told the flight was already over capacity. & I had to accept what I could get!, I am a frequent traveler and will not be flying your airline again!. The only thing positive in this entire trip wete the flight attendants, but other than that, everything else was very disappointing!

Flight wasn’t full so got to stretch out and sleep.

Boarding was delayed. Then when we queued, it took us to another long line to stand in. Flight had 0 entertainment. Not even a magazine. But they had a free meal and it was good!

The crew was great. The only problem is that electrical outlets were not working in what seems to be a half of the rows on the plane. Considering that passengers are asked not to use power banks, this leaves us out in the blue without any entertainment option.

Reasonably comfortable. We were about an half an hour late. But no personal impact. Seats upfront have a good amount of recline, but do not lay down flat. Food and drink can be improved. There are no soft drinks available on the flights. Water, juices, and wines are provisioned.

Flight on time. Staff pleasant and responsive. Food could be much better. Snack before landing was a few dry crackers and a drink. Nothing else. There was a very lumited selection of beverages available on a 7 hour flight. No soft drinks, even in the front cabin.

This was a long flight - 6 hours - and nothing is truly comfortable for that long... but the flight crew was friendly and attentive. The airport in the Azores is small but we weren't there long enough to explore any amenities.

Coming from USA it was nice to be treated nice for a change. Even though our flight was pretty short we were served breakfast. On time flight with very caring staff. Please teach American carriers how to treat people.

More space between seats and in bathroom. I don’t think there was any entertainment offered. If there was, I wasn’t aware.
