On the flight to New York with Delta we had to check our carry ons at the gate because it wasn't enough room for bags in the airplane.so we asked when we checked our one suitcase if we can/should check our carry ons to avoid having to do it at the gate. The delta employee told me sure no problem. He checks in my one suitcase I purchased gives me the tracking paper and says ok have a good flight. I asked him so what is with our carry ons and he told us that that would cost 25$ and we can't check those in at the drop off?!?We ended up taking the carry ons with to the gate and then off course there wasn't enough room on the airplane that we had to check it in. And surprise it was free?? We had never issues with Lufthansa, icelandair etc. with checking our bags at drop off to not needing to carry it around and than still end up to check it at the airplane. Every airline has been more than happy that we volunteer to check our bags that they don't have the trouble at the gate."

On a 7-hour flight, that is a significant problem for travellers today with multiple electronic devices. Finally, we were not told in advance that we had to go through security twice and through US Customs BEFORE leaving Dublin. So, the 6-hour layover at JFK was a complete waste of our time as we did not have to go through Customs there."

Cons: "Our flight was supposed to be direct to Denver. It was changed to a connecting flight they Vegas. We arrived home almost 5 hours later than we had originally booked. There was no notification to me about this change bc inbooked the flight thru Kayak. Either Kayak or Spirit should have notified me of this. We could have spent an additional 2 hours with our son who's away at college. I find this to be completely unacceptable. I do my part to pack within your rules, article to my flight on time and respectful to the crew. This will most likely be my last time to fly with Spirit. There was no email or text with regards to this change. Every other airline I have flown with will either send an email or text if there's a change in flight status."

Cons: "I cancelled my flight, but still received this, interestingly! I had no idea when I booked that even a carry on suitcase would cost extra! I was so angry, and nothing could be done. Therefore, I cancelled the flight at an additional cost and booked with Southwest, who is extremely generous with baggage accommodation. I was very happy with Southwest."

Cons: "The boarding pass that we downloaded on our phone weren't valid. After waiting 20min for security clearance, we had to go back and get the boarding pass from the kiosk. Spirit should have mentioned ahead of time that mobile boarding passes don't work."

Cons: "Seems like a cheap ticket until you factor in all the extra charges. Carry on bag $50, water and a snack $10. I'm surprised the bathroom was still free of charge. The captain couldn't get one of the engines started but taxied out to the runway anyway. When it still wouldn't start we turned around and went back to the gate to wait for a mechanic. They were able to get it started and we were able to fly."
Pros: "I had flight delay for 6 hrs, missed my business meeting Las Vegas ! Very rude people at Spirit counter, never will consider Spirit as my 1 suggestion! All this and I paid 1st class accommodation, I really think I should be compensated! 7194600011 thnx! Reg!"
