Rate is not what it seemed to be
Pros: Car we ended up with was in good condition and provided a great ride.
Cons: The rate given at the time of booking turned out to be for a 15 passenger van. $200+ later and we got the compact car initially reserved. Bait and switch much?

Bait and Switch
Cons: Told me supplier choice on vehicle and tried to stick me with a giant van. That may have been in the fine print but that's not way to run a business and keep customers. I was charged extra to get a normal small car. I suspect they used the van on a bunch of people to jack up the prices. You should dump Alamo

Jackson Hole rental
Pros: Good value. We got a clean SUV for tiny car money.
Cons: Alamo office is a loooong ways from the airport.

Terrible service, terrible cars, no customer care
Cons: The first car they gave me had the 'check engine' light on and they tried to tell me it was because of an oil change. I'm sure it was for an oil change, but how do I know? If we're driving in the middle of National Parks without service and the car dies, what do I do? I have absolutely no way of knowing that this is for an oil change that you've already done. The replacement car they gave us was a completely stripped down Hyundai with absolutely no features AND the temporary tag was expired for the whole trip. I believe I had paid for a better car, but they wouldn't give refund me any money. I didn't have more time to waste at the rental place, so I just went ahead and used a car with expired plates. THEN I got deathly ill and couldn't make it to the final drop off destination because I had to go home. When I dropped it off at a midpoint, they insisted they had to charge me an additional $135 drop fee, even though I had to cut my trip short because I was sick. I won't be renting from them again.
