My experience with Avis was horrible. There was a deposit policy that wasn’t clearly stated and the money couldn’t be split between 2 credit cards. They didn’t accept cash or debit cards, making my reservation obsolete. When I asked the clerk if there was anything I could do, he seemed to take a little pleasure in telling me there was nothing he could do. Instead of being stranded in Nashville with an Avis reservation I couldn’t redeem, I went across to Enterprise and rented a nice vehicle through them with no deposit on the spot. I would never rent through Avis because there are too many strict rental restrictions that make a recreational traveler inconvenienced.

I did not like that they held $750 on my credit card for a car that I only rented for 1 day. After returning the car, 3 days later, I am still waiting for the money to be returned to my credit card. What if that was all the money I had for my trip and was depending on it?
