Beautiful and comfortable hotel, staff was very accommodating and kind, good location
We arrived extremely early the day of our check in and decided to just see if they had any rooms available well before the normal 4pm check in time. They did! It made our day so much easier because we were able to check in and then go about the rest of your day like planned. We are a young couple so we definitely took advantage of how close we were to the Inner Harbor (about a 10 minute walk). We came back later in the day to freshen up and take a little nap, right as we laid down the smoke detector started beeping (battery was low), called the front desk and less than a minute later they had someone up there to fix it! Not one to believe in ghosts/spirits or paranormal activity, but We both woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of wimpering/crying which we read is apparently from the little girl who died there many many years ago. Although it could have just been someone outside, still freaked me out a little! Other than that our stay was perfect.
The valet guys were the best of the entire hotel. Was given attitude by the staff. Requests and complaints were ignored. Got double charged on my card. Would not stay again.
No thrills at this hotel. You get what you pay for a clean room. Nothing special at all with hotel. Small boring rooms
Good, central location Rooms were comfortable and well equipped Bed was comfy Staff was friendly Noisy street, could hear sirens all night long
Attended a wedding held here at the hotel, that was great and held in the ballroom with cocktail hour on the mezzanine level, a beautiful setting indeed! Room was fine with a comfortable bed, location to the Inner harbor and Convention Center is excellent. Everything was fine.
Upon check in, Ashlie greeted us and made sure we were well taken care of. Our West Point cadet was to meet us and she saw to it that he would not have to sleep on the ground as wel were previously told by front desk when I previously called. A big hug to Ashlie for being so kind and making our stay very comfortable and easy.
Valet service for 30 a day was best option for parking and staff was prompt. The furniture was ripped. Down comforter was ripped. Bottom of toilet was dirty. Room was by an alley so was a nosey Monday morning with trash pick up. No need for a Wakeup call that's for sure. And could smell exhaust fumes in room that morning as well.
The historic hotel was lovingly restored. The original interior ornament and contemporary furnishings really lent to an upscale experience. The piano accompaniment in the lobby and bar area accented the enormity of the space, creating intimacy in its double-height room. The room itself was generous in size, and the bath had deep marble window sills and natural light, with a full size tub and free-standing sink. There was also a small coffee alcove. We were on a corner, and had 3 large windows. For a small room, the floor plan was very clever. Having a mini fridge was a welcome plus; and the bed was extremely comfortable. The shampoo and conditioner portions were generous, and the scent was lovely. The room was spotless, as was the hotel. Bartender was very slow. We werent acknowledged for over 10 minutes upon seating, and she was preoccupied with a non-customer male, to the extent that I had to get up from my seat and interrupt them when I needed my bill.
The architecture of the building was stately and held historical significance, while the interior had many, stylistic, and modernized updates. The foyer and main lobby were visually stunning. The parking attendants were helpful, and the overnight fee was only fifteen dollars, excellent for the city. The room was clean and comfortable. We went to our room to discover that it was not the King Deluxe room that I booked online. I was informed that the booking had not come through as a King Deluxe; I verified that I had been charged for the King Deluxe. The gentleman from the front desk apologized and offered to change the room ; I declined since my wife and son were already settled. He did give me a credit to the restaurant.
Had a very nice getaway to the Lord Baltimore a few weeks ago. The location is great - just blocks from the Inner Harbor. Very clean, modern look and even home to a nice bar in the downstairs. Shower curtains didn't hold back the water. We had a floor full of water after the first shower. Also, no hair dryers in the room.
I liked that we could get place to place with no problems in our car. But it wasn't anything too special. I didn't like the rude valet people I didn't like the bed or the room I didn't like that they came in our room without asking did we want it to be cleaned. I would have rather stayed at The Ebassy Sweets in Baltimore I could have splurged and gave them that extra $100 and would have had a better nights rest. Also I didn't like that you could hear the street people yelling outside of room 1018. Over all I would not stay here again. THIS IS A ONE NIGHT AND KEEP IT MOVING TYPE OF HOTEL!
Stay was FAB - U - LOUS! I had read other reviews and would agree. Clean, spacious rooms. Cable plus. nice towels. Food from restaurant was good. Polite, speedy check-in and out. Gym was current. Slept so good, I missed the breakfast. I heard it was great too. Only suggestion, would be wifi included.
Staff was accommodating, polite, professional. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it.
Exceptional quality suite Beautfiul furnishings Impeccable front desk and staff service Not as close to the inner harbor as advertised
Great breakfast, close proximity to the inner harbor AC didn't work very well, and the tv in the room was strangely placed where you couldn't watch it from the couch or bed
My overall experience was okay but the parking was confusing. I would've liked for my parking to be free for staying with the hotel, especially because the rooms are pricy. I stayed at the Embassy in Philly and for $50 more I had a balcony, an extra bed and a larger living room area. I think this place is only valuable because of the location. I was able to walk to the lounge my boyfriend and I went to so that was great, was only seven minutes from our destination. There's not many late night food options though, we ended up driving to IHOP around 1 a.m. and it was a 20 minute drive.
Good breakfast, suites are spacious and not that expensive.
Complimentary drinks, great breakfast, staff was excellent People smoking outside the door, is disgusting
Gave us the wrong room but charged us for the other one. Terrible customer service!
The bed, the kitchenette, the temperature control, the quiet; the breakfast buffet, the staff.
very helpful and curteous staff the bathroom could have been a little cleaner, and I could have used a small refrigerator in the room.
good service from front desk
Good central location. Easy walk to the harbour. Could not get the room to cool down. It got too hot and they sent me a fan to help.
The room was excellent. Staff was always helpful. The hotel location is very good. Breakfast was usually poor, and most things were not replaced.
convenient out dated, smelled moldy
Warm and friendly staff, clean and comfy rooms and quiet. We will definitely be returning. :)
A nice, comfortable room in a great part of the city. Friendly staff and trendy decor. I'm not sure why anyone would put a sliding door on a bathroom.
Cute hotel Good price Good location Good price for parking
This is a very nice urban hotel with a sense of history. Complimentary breakfast is better than average. The location is perfect for exploration of a terrific city.
They had an excellent hot breakfast in the morning. Location was close to the light rail and downtown but pretty far if you plan to visit the Harbor area. The ac didn't really work well. The windows are sealed and it got warm during the night.
Location near transportation lines and many dining possibilities Inability to control room temperature during stay. Sorry if that sounds like a complaint.
I really liked this hotel and want to visit again. The rooms were nice, decor was tasteful, and in room amenities quality. I booked the room last minute for a one night stay, but intend to return. Menu and cocktails at the hotel restaurant (Poets) were delightful. the front desk staff were friendly, attentive, and professional. The service at Poets was very slow, it appeared there was only one server on that shift, and he was overwhelmed, but the delays were unacceptable. I was also surprised that the hotel does not appear to offer express check out through the TV. I haven't checked out in person from a hotel in years unless there was a problem. However, this was definitely mitigated by very attentive front desk staff -- checkout was a breeze.
Clean, rooms are huge, bathroom was great, so many both towels! It's still Baltimore... You can walk to 7/11 but still be mindful of where you are at.
I liked the location. I had booked a deluxe king room and prepaid. When I arrived I was told that there were no more deluxe king rooms available and the only room available had two beds and bunk beds. Confused I showed the gentleman behind the desk my conformation with room type and he told me that there was no guarantee on room type. He was rude and said thats all they had and if I didn't want it I could stay somewhere else. When I got into the room, there was an entire wall with a dog mural staring at me. The room wasn't clean, carpet dirty, hair in sink, then I walked into the bedroom and it is the strangest decor I have ever seen. Hip doesn't mean nothing matches and the most unattractive color palate ever! The furniture was visibly beat up, scratched and marks all over. The wall had multiple black marks all over and the toilet was running. I put my things down and headed to the front desk before leaving for dinner to advise them of the running toilet. Upon my return 2 hours later, as I opened the door to my room and the toilet was still running and I went to call the desk. My room was facing the the windows of other hotel rooms and I found myself rushing to close the curtains because a man across the way was watching me and being "self serving" - not the hotels fault, I know, but very creepy none the less. I wet down to the desk to ask about my toilet and the new gentleman at the desk said he had no record of my earlier complaint and there was no one from engineering to be able to fix it. I asked for another room and he said there weren't any, so I went upstairs and promptly checked out at 12:30 am, off to find another hotel. I asked not to be charged, but since I had prepaid, he said there was nothing he could do.
the staff was fabulous!!!he room was great exceptfor the lighting. There was a great chair to read in but no lamp there.Te room was too dark.Other than that, it was great.
I was attending a conference for most of the trip, and my partner also joined to check out local sites. It was a decent location within walking distance to a number of good restaurants and museums. The room was somewhat small and the floor appeared to not have been vacuumed in a while (as noted by the dozens of small beads that were from a bracelet of a former inhabitant). I find the sliding bathroom door to be somewhat unusual since it didn't allow for privacy in the slightest. Lastly, we had to go to the front desk once a day to get the room key cards re-magnetized, so that we could enter the elevator to the room and our room.
The staff was really nice. Not a big deal but there wasn't a remote control in the room. We had to call for one which was brought up fairly quickly.
Everything!! No problems.
The free coffee in the morning and yoga mat in the room. Had to request coffee in the room. I wish you could do that when you book the place so it's there when you check in.
The staff were great - so friendly and helpful. The hotel room was clean and beautiful, and very unique. Awesome shower, and overall we loved it.
Classy building built in 1906. Rooms nicely appointed. Top notch service and friendly and helpful staff. Closet doors stuck. In-room safe didn't work. DIYers would not feel too comfortable here.
It was a great hotel with an interesting history. It was in a good location within easy walking distance to waterfront destinations, the convention center and the subway is across/down the street too. The bathroom and hotel room was really spacious. We would stay there again. Really the only thing my husband and I didn't like was that the shower doesn't have a door only a partial glass wall, but it was no big deal.
Location and staff were very friendly and gave recommendations for local restaurants. Our room keys for some reason kept giving errors, they would alternate so we would have at least one working key at any given time. So the staff was very used to seeing us.
Large comfortable room. Would love to know where you got that bed - my husband is 6'4" and it's the first bed his feet aren't hanging over. Shower was wonderful. Loved the Bigelow products. Staff was absolutely wonderful. No coffee in the lobby until 7 am for this early riser.
No elevator service for my whole 4 days' stay and I stay on the 5th floor No new towel for 3 days The TV remote control is not working and the front desk promised to fixed it but it never return No battery in the thermostat and battery is not available in front desk One card key prepared for two customers None smoking room but cigarette butt on stairwell Strong ammonia smell in stairwell etc
The bed The view and cramped hallways
For the price, the place was clean enough, close walk to the harbor and fine for a few night stay The facilities weren't great, particularly the hot water was lukewarm at best
I Love The Presentation Of It All..... The Flashing Lights On The Headboard Was Awesome.... It Made Our Stay Romantic, Sexy And Was Something To Look Forward To. The Water Didn't Really Get Hot.
The only thing positive I can find to say about this hotel is that it wasn't infested with bugs. I'm still not sure why, given the complete absence of cleaning services. Room was need of repair: door deadlock wouldn't latch, shower door replaced by curtain held by pipe clamps, broken towel rack, peeling wall paper, sticky floor and elevator. No cleaning service for entire week. Took 24+ hours to get broken glass picked up, small shards still in carpet. Desk staff inactive and indifferent. Wifi slower than a fax machine. Would not provide alternative room nor offer refund.
Staff was fantastic for all that my group put them through (we needed several extra blankets and towels, realizing this in two trips). Room was quiet, but only suitable for one adult. Staff was also kind enough to call a cab for us when we were running late so the cab could meet us when we got to the lobby; this ended up making all the difference in the world. Room was VERY small, there were small blood stains on the sheets and one of the pillows, wasn't crazy about the air conditioner in the room, bathroom had NO circulation whatsoever (so after a shower it was too humid to breathe) and bathroom door was as creaky as something out of a horror movie, so it woke everyone up whenever someone had to take a bathroom run in the middle of the night.
Pretty dumpy but for the price it is understandable. Everything was working in our room but the beds weren't very comfortable. Some makeup stains on the towels and it was located in a sketchy part of Baltimore.
Cheaper Room Was located in a very sketch location in Baltimore that didnt seem that friendly
The beds were comfortable, but also had no Comforters. The rope light flickering mood wall was cool to look at since a previous guest had smashed the TV and it didn't even turn on. The sink didn't drain, there was no climate control whatsoever (there was a programmable thermostat in the room, but I don't think it was attached to anything) so, would advise against staying here late may- early October unless you like sleeping in extreme heat. TV was 100% broken, but luckily the wifi worked so I could watch Internet TV. Staff did 0 to change anything. I'm really surprised Best Western has their name on this place. As a traveller with low standards this place has exceeded them. Don't ignore the reviews like I did. Or you too will end up brushing your teeth in the bath tub.
That it was close to the royal farms Arena for our concert The place was run down, I never though hotels like this existed. Some doors wouldn't close all the way or lock. The front desk said that if our room wasn't clean they would have to move us to a different hotel??? What? I booked my room a month in advance. My wife and I had friends staying also and when they got to their room the front door was broken so it wouldn't close or lock and the room was still dirty. The elevator had a mind of its own and wouldn't even goto the floor you selected... Press 3 it will take you to 6. This place is not for anyone to stay at period. Spend the extra $15 and go somewhere else.
The hotel and rooms were clean. Very close to all major downtown Baltimore venues including the Convention Center, Aquarium, Inner Harbor, etc. Rooms are small. Location is a little rough. Travel with a group for safety.
Nothing Elevator didn't work you had to take the stairs, sheets on bed had stains on it, window looked out onto a brick wall approx 6 inches away, alarm on door went off every 20 seconds. The guy at the desk was nice he refunded our money and told us he didn't blame us for leaving
Staff were super friendly and nice. Our room was clean and comfortable and our view was great! Nothing
Very pleasant staff, very spacious room, the room was extraordinarily clean. I'm glad I stayed there I'm told the facility will be upgraded which will be nice. Still, it is very nice for the money I paid to stay there. It was nice having a continental breakfast. The lady coordinating the continental breakfast is very cheerful and pleasant. Good value. I hope to stay there again. nothing. All was fine
Convenient location Hotel was okay for people it serves
Convince to the ballpark and surrounding waterfront restaurants Nothing really to speak of
Staff was extremely helpful and courteous. The breakfast options were limited.
Location Served purpose to watch a ball game at Camden Yards Upon arrival was told not to unload bags..had to park in parking garage (hidden $20 more dollars) and walk bags in a long distance. Check in staff not friendly at all. In house bar staff below average attitudes.
After reading some of the reviews about the AC and readiness of the rooms, I called ahead and made sure everything was working because this was my 1 year anniversary. When we arrived, everything was in place, they gave us a high corner bedroom, and Matt gifted us a complimentary bottle of Champagne! It was a very pleasant surprise for us and really helped make a great evening. The pool was closed and it was a great day for it. They night staff wasn't really prepared for addressing common needs such as getting amenities.
The hotel itself and our room was clean and nicely decorated. Our room smelled clean and inviting and it was also quite spacious with a great view even though we paid for one of the more inexpensive rooms. The only negative part of our experience with this hotel was that the air conditioner in our room wasn't working properly. It got really hot over night during our stay and we couldn't get the a/c to turn on, not even the simple fan would work. We paid about 150.00 for this nice room and would have expected something as simple and necessary as the air cooling system to be functioning. We slept through the night with no covers and feeling uncomfortably hot.
staff is great wifi
Location There was no hot water and wifi does not work
Staff was awesome They told me water was going to be turned off from 9:00 til 1:00 which was okay cause woke up in the morning to go to the aquarium came back around 6:00 and still no water. When the water did come on had no hot water.
Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are a bit outdated and a little rundown.
I liked the look and feel of the property and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The $25/night parking was steep compared to other properties.
Great hotel ,great spacious rooms. Did not appreciate the very very slow Internet connection.
The room felt new and clean. The staff made us feel at home. The quality of the included breakfast food could have been better.
Loved the room-extremely comfortable bed, smart design, bright and fresh. Loved the staff-no nonsense, friendly, helpful, wonderful smiles. The ice machine directly outside the room-very minor irritant from the noise when ice was dispensed. $32 Valet parking per day through the hotel when one can park in the St. Paul St. garage only two blocks away for a fraction of the cost. This was disappointing because the third party through which the room was booked indicated the hotel provided parking but did not explain it was Valet for $32/day. The hotel does not validate parking in the garage.
The ONLY bright spot was the fact that a lady named Sharonda actually made us want to stay there, suggested and AND DID something to make us stay. Otherwise, EVERYTHING was bad. We would have left if it wasn't for Sharonda. Breakfast wasn't ready on time, Linda was completely unaccomodating, linens were never changed in 8 nights, cleaning was minimal, the water pressure was low, they gave a key to our room to someone else, there was MOLD on the breakfast sandwiches for breakfast, the toilet seat was broken and the laundry area beside the gym had people's old clothes that were NEVER removed and were out in view, thrown EVERYWHERE.
Location for us was perfect
Full kitchen. Good breakfast Housekeeping service. Carpets were dirty.
Cozy and convenient to all of downtown Baltimore
Everything: room, breakfast, close and affordable on-street parking Nothing....
The breakfast and the refridegerator in tne room. Free internet is a must and it worked very well.
Clean, close to inner harbor. Needs more free parking.
As others have described, surrounding neighborhood not the best. But very clean, comfortable room. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Shuttle service was a nice feature, as well as complimentary breakfast in the morning. Overall, good value for the price point.
Clean, great staff, free breakfast, comfortable bed Location is a bit sketchy, lots of homeless people around the hotel, but they never cause any problem during our stay
Hotel was so close to the Inner Harbor one could walk there. Loved the look of the lobby, so grand and gorgeous. The parking was very limited but we did find space across the street in the street.
I loved the shuttle. The drivers were excellent and informative. So nice not to have to take a cab everywhere!
Staff was very friendly. Free shuttle was perfect! Bar / restaurant in hotel would have made this a 5-star rating
I had to attend a conference in Baltimore and I knew that I would end up spending most of my time at the conference venue or being out with the conference attendees. So, I wanted a reasonably priced hotel in walking distance from the place where the conference venue (Inner Harbor). I chose this hotel because it looked decent on the internet and was about 60% the price of the conference hotel (and this included free internet). I was not disappointed. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised from the room, both from its cleanliness and its furniture: it looked very nice. The breakfast, which was included in the price, was nothing special but still I could start the day without having to search for something to eat at 7:00. Overall, value for money
It was cold, not a huge problem bcs there was a space heater provided. it wasn't terribly comfortable. Lobby/reception was a bit weird. Kind of felt like i was staying in an 'hourly' hotel. it was real NOISY - people above me walking around their room into the wee hours, the trains running by all night, the sirens, the helicopters…i barely slept. then I woke up to a banging sound – workmen installing/fixing the faux wood floor in the hallway @ 7:30! awesome. i liked that it's a re-use of a historic building and close to penn station. however, the reno was cheaply done and seems to be getting shabby already. the rooms are odd as is the vibe of the place. i wouldn't ever stay here again
We stayed here for a weekend getaway to inner harbor. We were able to walk from the hotel to the harbor. It took about 30 min, but we didn't mind at all. Our room was very clean. And bigger then we expected. The staff was very helpful also. Breakfast
Location The heat didn't work well. If I shut the bathroom door it would be a ice box but if I left it open the sun shined right on the bead. It was a lose lose situation. The heater was not working properly and now I'm sick.
I have never felt more comfortable at a hotel as I did here. There were a few times during our trip I looked at my husband and said "I feel like I'm staying at my grandmother's house" The staff and the overall feel of the hotel were so welcoming. I would highly recommend this place! The elevator was very small and seemed to take a very long time to get to each floor. But honestly that was only a minor ding in this wonderful hotel!
location The building was literally falling apart, had a funky odor and was not well kept at all
Reasonable price for a great downtown location. It is an easy walk from the train station. The staff has always been friendly and helpful when I stay there. I do not spend a lot of time in my room, and so it serves my purposes well. The building itself is not in the greatest shape. The furnishings could use an upgrading. However, because I do not spend much time in the hotel and my room, these are minor concerns. Because of the price and location, I will stay at the Biltmore Suites Hotel in future visits to Baltimore.
The room was nice and spacious. No elevator
The Hotel is ideal for city visit and great value for money. The rooms are neat and gives a comfort stay. No lift!!!! so ask for your room on the first floor.
no elevator- too hard for older people. no transportation to convention center or major areas not convenient
the view , the neighberhood, the staff ..everything
Shower, fan, hot water, a/c worked. Plenty of clean towels. Microwave and mini-fridge. Heavy tobacco smoke odor in non-smoking hotel, coming into my room. Two employees claimed it would be corrected. It was not. Found cigarette in hallway. Tacky decor, dirty rugs, old upholstery, sullen front desk staff with unprofessional appearance. No towel racks, rusted heat register in bathroom, moldy messy caulk around tub, missing lamp finials, broken window blinds. One corner section of blind missing-- great for a peeping tom. This could be a beautiful hotel, but needs a new owner with taste and who cares about the customer.
Reasonable price and located within a mile of the convention center. Parking was $3 per day. Parking was 1 block away in the hospital lot. It was a frumpy old place. Don't expect much besides a clean room.
The layout and decoration had old-fashioned character and charm (large parlor downstairs), and the room was spacious. 1. The double-bed was not very comfortable. I was staying with a girlfriend, and because the bed sank in the middle, we kept rolling towards each other. 2. The breakfast was really bad -- granola bars and pound cake. 3. The shower had some of the paint peeling off the walls.
