They did not have the car size I reserved but did give me a nice upgrade. The car was filthy and the gas tank was not filled. So I probably spent more on gas with the bigger vehicle due to a lower mileage rating but have to admit it was comfortable. Return was awful, they advertised online on their website that the office was open at 11:00 but the store the office was in did not open until 12:00 so I was stuck waiting an hour for the store to open to get access to the rental counter. When the attendant was questioned about that he said “well, I was here, take it up with the store”. And no, don’t ask, the drop box was inside the store too so that was not an option. If you were to ask if I would rent from Budget again, possibly, but not from this location.

Liked that the car was in good shape and served the purpose. The building at Budget looked very unkept and not manicured. The drop-off was a mess, in that the contract mentioned to drop off at Avis and also leave the key at Avis if prior to work hours. There as only one parking spot left at Avis and no mention of where to drop off the car if Avis was full.

Everything was good, person helping was efficient, but there was only one person. Waited over 1/2 hour because of previous guests. Probably couldn’t be helped.

The Mitsubishi outlander sport drove very nice and the features that the vehicle has are a plus with one exception. There was no display to view gps like google maps or waze.

The lack of available chargers and the threat of charging more if it is not returned fully charged gave me anxiety all weekend. I spent more time occupied with charging than enjoying family time. Never again

Don’t prepay with Kayak; our car reeked of cigarette smoke and usb didn’t work but because we prepaid with Kayak Hertz would not refund any of our $. Beware!

The car (Pacifica minivan) really worked well for our needs as far as size and comfort and got decent mileage. Dropoff was very easy.

Cons:

The pick up was awful. After a very tiring flight, a packed airport, waiting in line, and trying to breathe in an N95 mask, the agent (who was not wearing her mask properly), kept trying to "upsell" us on a different vehicle. I appreciate the offer to get something larger, and we did. But partly I just agreed to get it so we could all just get out of there. Unrelated, some features to the Pacific like the auto stop/start are just plain dumb and make it hard to use.

Ron, the person who took me to my car was very personable. I was given an Avis Car & had to return for a Hertz car. That was acceptable and the lady who checked me out of the garage said she'd give me a fuel voucher for my inconvenience & to return the car as close to empty as possible. I didn't have any notation on my slip so I returned it full as I didn't want to pay $10+/gallon to fill it up.

The representative said his only vehicle available was delivered from the airport location and the car had a heavy smoke smell. He said I could take it to the airport location to swap for another car. I appreciate it made the offer but don’t understand why the airport location provided the car to the other location knowing of the smoke problem. I did drive the 6 miles to the airport to make the swap. Personnel at both locations were friendly and professional.

Your system (kayak) let me book a rental at an Avis location that wasn’t open on the day that I needed to pick it up. I didn’t find out about this until a few days before the rental when Avis called me. I had to find a new rental and process has gone up significantly. I used Priceline this time.

I am dissatisfied with ACE. Upon arrival at the airport, I requested a shuttle from ACE, only to be informed that they were fully booked and unable to accommodate me, despite my February booking and confirmation number. This left me feeling upset, and as a result, I will not be booking with ACE again. Yia Vue

Terrible rental agency. Minimal cars. Downsized my reservation. Charged me my deposit of $500 saying I went out of their area. Nothing in contract about reservation areas. Poor attitude at the counter. Will never rent there or recommend to anyone.

This experience was terrible the first rental car I was given had a check car light on, cigarette holes in the seat and missing things cosmetically. The vechile I exchanged for had a high debt and scratch on the side. This was by far the worst experience I’ve had with this company or any rental company. I paid over $100 for a week to drive around in a messed up car. I want this issue examine and looked at. Also I would like a refund.

I was able to choose the exact car I wanted and was even able to reserve a cooler and boogie board to use for the week. The car was in like-new condition. The free shuttle was convenient, fast and the drivers were nice. The location was a little bit further from the airport, but it wasn't a problem.

It was the first time we rented via Turo, so I don't have a good base reference to compare in general, and can only compare to car rental experiences with commercial fleets (like Budget or Enterprise). In general it was okay -- we made it to where we were going and back, with no major issues. It's doable. However, there were some "surprises" where things didn't quite got as we expected: * We made rental reservation with expectation that we're picking up at the airport. When we got there, it turned out that the car is not at the airport, and the address given to us turned out to be what seemed to be Portland's airport Fire Rescue Tower (where, obviously, we can't even walk to or be at). We called the owner, and turned out that the car is at some house that's "not far" from the airport, and gave us new address. So additional expense of taking Uber/Lyft to get to the car (and apparently that address exists in two neighboring towns, and somehow Uber/Lyft took us first to the wrong one, so we had to take another ride, but that's not a Turo issue, just more expense as a consequence of car not being at the airport as promised). * When we got there, we called the owner to get the keys: "-- Keys are under front door's floormat. -- Nope, they're not there. -- Then try mailbox? -- Yes, they're there." The owner wasn't there, which is okay to do this all remote, but would be nicer if owner was in general "on top of things" such as where the car is and where it is expected to be picked up, where exactly are its keys, etc. * Then owner requested that prior to return we take the car to be washed and cleaned inside and out. We neither planned on looking for car detailing places in Portland, nor for time that it would take away from sightseeing, nor for extra substantial expense it would be. We pushed back and the owner backed off saying that he'll let it go due to confusion with pickup location (and apparently he didn't send some email that he was supposed to send, or something along those lines). * And while the car wasn't too dirty, it wasn't clean to begin with (which made detailing request that more amusingly odd). Crumbs on floor and seats and luggage compartment. Worst part was that windshield was dirty on the inside that was minor unpleasant at daytime, but as driving progressed into night time, it was quite significant as it was blurring lights and affected visibility substantially. * We also added additional driver thru Turo and let the owner know. The owner requested that we send him picture of drivers license directly to him. We refused (as it didn't seem right, given that Turo is the one that manages that aspect) and he backed off. * Of course, additional expense of Uber/Lyft after return drop-off as we weren't dropping it off at the airport as originally planned. So all in all we probably spent additional $50-60 in Uber/Lyft for getting to and from cars location instead of it being in the airport, and lost about 3+ hours for dealing with additional unplanned travel. The rest was okay. Car drove fine and didn't give any problems.
